I woke up to the sound of a wagon being pulled across a stone path When I came too I looked around and was surrounded by a forest and ponies dressed in leather armor with a steel finish. In the wagon with me was two other stallions and one mare, all of us had our hooves tied behind our backs and one mare had a cloth tied around her mouth. I was very surprised to see a mare with all of us; something seemed odd that they would do that to a mare.
“Hey, you, you’re finally awake”. Said one of the mares. I looked in front of me were a mare was sitting. He was dressed in the same armor as the other men walking beside us; however his armor was blue instead of red. He had long blonde mane and he looked like he was built like a solder. “You were trying to cross the border, right? Walked right into an Imperial ambush, same as us, and that thief over there.”
“What thief?” I said. I looked to my right and there was another mare, but he was dressed in rags and he had raps on his hooves. His mane was short and it looked like it hadn’t been taken care of in quite some time.
“Dame you Nightclocks. Skyrim was fine until you came along. Empire was nice and lazy.” The thief said towards the solder” If the hadn’t been looking for you, I could’ve stolen their food and be half way to Hammerfell.” He then turned towards me.” You there. You and me- we shouldn’t be here. It’s these Nightclocks the Empire wants.”
“We’re all brothers and sisters in binds now, thief” said the solder.
“Shut up back there.” Yelled one of the Imperial solders back to us.
“What’s wrong with her, huh?” said the thief.
“Watch your tongue. You’re speaking to Princess Luna, the true High Queen.” Said the solder to the thief.
“Luna? The Jarl of Windhelm? You’re the leader of the rebellion. But if they captured you….. Oh gods, where are they taking us?” Said the thief towards the princess. So that’s her name, I knew of the rebellion for quite some time but I never knew that their leader would be a mare. She was dark blue and her mane was almost like it had night time look to it, it was really pretty to stare at.
The solder answered him.” I don’t know where we’re going, but Sovngarde awaits.” Sovngarde was like a heaven to the nord race. A long time ago the world was only populated with four races: the earth ponies, unicorns, pegasi, and alacorns. Now we are all divided into many different races of the worlds. Nords are like pure blood earth ponies, they don’t have much to them but they have the fighting spirit with in them. I’m a nord along with the solder and the thief, however Luna is in alacorn. Alacorns are a special type of race they have a mix of both Nord and Elven blood meaning that they excel in magic, however they are also doubly weak against magic too because of their Nordic blood.
“No this can’t be happening. This isn’t happening.” I heard the thief cry to my right.
“Hey, what village are you from food thief?” said the solder to the thief
“Why do you care?” barked the thief
“A Nords last thoughts should be of home.” answered the solder in a calming, almost soothing, voice.
“Rorikstead. I’m….I’m from Rorikstead.” Said the thief
Suddenly we heard one of the Imperial solders yell out” General Tullius, sir! The headsman is waiting!” I knew why we going to this town and I didn’t like were this was going.
“Good. Let’s get this over with. Said another voice whose I can only guess belongs to this General Tullius
To me right I could hear the thief calling out to the gods. “Shor, Mara, Dibelln, Kynareth, Akatosh, Divines, please help me.”
“Look at him, General Tullius the Military Governor. And it looks like the Thalmor are with him. Damn elves. I bet they had something to be with this.” Said the solder with so much hate and anger in his words. There are three different kinds of elves in this world: dark elves, high elves, and wood elves. All elves are descendents of the unicorn race that lived long ago but after years of breading in different habitats they have divided among each other.
“This is Helgen. I use to be sweet on a girl from here. Wonder if Vilod is still making mead with juniper berries mixed in. Funny when I was a boy, Imperial walls and towers used to make me feel safe.” Said the solder are we rode to the center of the town. Helgen is a small town that was under the control of the Empire. It was a bunch of buildings surrounding a giant tower.
As people started to move into their houses we suddenly stopped moving. “Why are we stopping?” asked the thief who was now scared of the answer.
“Why do you think?” said the solder “End of the line.” the wagon came to a full stop and the solder said “Let’s go. Shouldn’t keep the gods waiting for us.” At that moment I knew the fate of all of us that were captured and I was ready to face that fate.
As we started to get out of the wagon I could hear the thief begging for his life “No! Wait! We’re not rebels”. I don’t understand why he is so fearful of death, doesn’t he know what’s waiting for him on the other side or is that why he is fearful.
“Face your death with some courage, thief.” Said the solder. I agree with him, if you’re going to die then you should face it head on not coward in fear. I can tell that me and this solder share the same thoughts, I only wish we could talk and share some mead together so I can get to know him better. We could have been friends.”
However despite the solders words the thief still pleaded for his life “You’ve got to tell them! We weren’t with you! This is a mistake!”
An Imperial captain then announced “Step towards the block when we call your name. One at a time.”
To my left I can hear the solder saying “Empire loves their damn lists” I wanted to laugh but I knew that it was an insult and not a jock.
As we stood there we heard the voice of a man call out “Princess Luna, Jarl of Windhelm”. I recognized the man, I think that his name if Hadvar. I remember hearing about him in a town I was staying at, that he had joined the Imperial army and that he was going to be handling the executions of rebels. He is an Imperial earth pony, he is like a nord but imperials are treated with more respect than us nords. He has a short brown mane and he is kind of built like I am, not to muscular but can carry their own. He is also wearing the imperial armor.
As Luna walked towards Hadvar I could hear the solder next to me say “It has been an honor, Jarl Luna.”
Next Hadvar called out “Ralof of Riverwood.” After the name was called the solder walked towards the block. So that was his, I only wish I could have known that sooner. I silently prayed that the gods would be kind to him in Sovngarde. Next Hadvar called out “Lokir of Rorikstead.” I knew that had to be the cowardly food thief.
As a last sign of fear, Lokir cried out “No, i’m not a rebel. You can’t do this!” he then takes off running towards the front of the town. The Imperial captain yells for him to stop but he keeps running. Just as I think that maybe he might make it the captain gives a hand sign, they shoot him and kill him with only two archers. She then turns to us and ask “Anyone else feel like running”
Hadvar then turns to me and say “Wait, u there. Step forward.” I walk towards him now knowing that this is the end and that these will be my last words ever in this world. He then asks “Who are you?”
I look at him square in the eyes and say “My name is Leonheart, I am a Nord.”
He stares at me and says “you picked a bad day to come home to Skyrim, kinsman.” He then turns to the captain and asks “Captain, what can we do? He’s not on the list.”
The captain turns to him and says “Forget the list. He goes to the block”
Hadvar says “By your orders captain.” He then turns to me and says “I’m sorry. At least you’ll die here, in your homeland. Follow the captain, prisoner.”
So I follow the caption to the block and await my turn. When we start the captain lets a priest begin to pray, however an eager solder interrupts them and demands that they just skip the prayer and start to kill us. I admire his motives, but as noble as I am to the gods I would like to hear the end of the prayer. The set up the Nightclock solder on the block and cut off his head. As I watch the head sever and the blood come spraying out of the body all I can hear is his fellow solders yelling out to the Imperial solders in anger. However I hear Ralof only commend the solder saying that he was fearless not only in battle but to the very end. Then the caption said “Next the Nord.”
As I walk towards the block ready to face my fate I hear a loud roaring sound in the distance. The caption told us to ignore it and continue with the executions. So I ready myself at the block and look at the executioner as he swings the ax up, but then suddenly out of nowhere a dragon is sitting on top of one of the towers. Everyone panics as the dragon begins to attack the town and destroy everything in its path. I quickly get up as fast as I could and run to the edge of town where I see Hadvar and Ralof standing at two doors to an underground escape route. They both start to argue and notice me come running towards them. They said I have a choice, either escape with Ralof and join the Nightclocks or go with Hadvar and help the Empire. I quickly decide to go with Hadvar because even though Ralof was kind to me and we both share the same beliefs, I would much rather work with the Empire because I can make more money. Before I was captured I was a mercenary and I would take on anything people would ask me to do if there was enough money involved. I said I was sorry to Ralof and I told him that I hope we can meet on the battle field some day. As I watched him enter in the other door I followed Hadvar into the underground route. Once we were inside and the door was shut, Hadvar untied me and we both lied down in some hey piles we found and went to sleep, but outside I could still hear the dragons rampage on the town, so sleep did not come quickly to me.
the death of a dragon and the birth of a new life
I woke up to Hadvar shaking me violently. "You have to wake up now, the Nightclocks are coming"
"Ok fine I'm up" I get up to try and locate some armor and something to protect myself with,
"Look on that rack over there their should be a sword on it so you can fight. You know how to fight don't you?" asked Hadvar
"I do what kind of person do you think I am if I didn't know how to fight." I snapped at Hadvar. I didn't mean to
snap at him I am just really stressed out with the dragon and almost being executed.
We made owner way through the underground passage until we made it outside. Just as we thought it was clear, the same dragon
that attacked Helgen right before my head got real acquainted with that axe. we ducked behind some rocks and waited for the beasts to
pass us.
"It looks like its headed towards Whiterun. You have to go and warn the Jarl of the dragons and what happened here at Helgen
I would go with you but I have to return to Solitude to report to my commander. If your ever around town you should stop by the office
we could use skills like yours in the Empire's army" said Hadvar
"Ill look into it, working for any military faction isn't really my style." I said. You see before I was arrested i was a
thief for hire. Basically people would hire me to steal anything and everything, I would take any request that paid enough money. No
task was to tough for me and the best part was that I got all of the profit, I worked for me and only me. An army setting is and was
never for me, I'm not the kind of guy to take orders never was.
When I was a kid my parents died when a band of raiders came to our farm, they killed them in cold blood when they didn't
give up our family's greatest treasure, a map that locates one of the worlds greatest treasure, The Elder Scroll. My parents were able
to hide it away before they were killed, until I am able to get back home and retrieve it. Legend foretells of three scrolls that are
located all over the world, each having their own prophecy that traits to ancient creatures.
After my parents deaths I was forced to live on the streets in a near by town, I had to steal and beg to get what I wanted.
Eventually I got so good at it that I just started doing it for other people for payment. Politicians, guards and even temple keepers
everyone was wanting my services and I never turned anyone away as long as they had the bits to pay for it. Everything was going fine
until they walked into my life, they were solders for the Nightclock army, they asked me to steal some metal materials from a near by
Imperial camp. I almost got away until that stupid food thief ran into me and got us both busted my the guards.
I left Hadvar in a near by town with family and they pointed me in the direction of Whiterun. It took me a long time until I
finally arrived at Whiterun, I was near the south watch tower when the guards came running towards me. They told me to turn back now
while I still had the chance. I looked at the tower, it was completely destroyed and the flags looked like they have bin burned. Burned,
burned, BURNED, oh shit another dragon.
Just as that thought came rushing into my mind a dragon came and snatched up one of the guards making him drop his bow and
quiver. I quickly grabbed the bow and arrows, ready to shout that fucker out of the sky. The dragon swooped down and missed me,
I rolled out of the way and hit the dragon in the stomach with a single arrow. The beast came around and landed back down on the
ground near me. I drew my sword ready to fight that reached thing, and with just a few swings I had that fucker within a inch of its
life. I trusted my sword into that fuckers neck and a mountain of blood came flowing out of its wound. I started to walk away when I
heard the sounds of something burning, I turned around and the dragons corpse started to burn away. Then a streams of light started to swirl around me.
"I cant believe it." I heard a guard said from behind me. "Your dragonborn."
"Dragonborn? What the hell is that?" I asked.
"When you killed that dragon you absorbed that dragons soul, its soul became part of yours and that makes you Dragonborn. I don't know much about being Dragonborn, the books don't mention anything about Dragonborns, they were believed to be wiped off the face of this world, well until now." explained the guard. "Our Jarl might be able to explain more about Dragonborns and what you can do with your new powers."
I followed the guards through the city and up the place were their Jarl lives called Dragonsresearch. When I entered there was
two big tables with a pit of fire in the center, and on the far end of the entrance room sat Jarl Applejack the Great. I bow to them in
respect even though I never normally do that, just to show that I wont be arrested again or killed for not showing respect, in this world
you can't truly be shore what side of the war the Jarls are fighting for. With the empire to not show respect to the Jarls that support
is like asking for a death wish, where with the Nightclock rebellion they treat Jarls just like regular people but with a little more
perks. She motioned me to stand and asked what I am doing here. I explained to her what happened in Helgen and about the damaged tower. I then tolled her about how I slayed the dragon and became what the guards call a dragonborn. Just as I was about to finish my story a large
horn like sound sounded almost shaking the entire world.
"I see" she said as she was putting down the mead that she and I were drinking. "so it seams that you really have became a dragonborn.
That sound was the Greybeards summoning you to High Hrothgar located on the highest mountain in all the land, the Throat of the World."
"I don't know if I'm going to go I might just let this whole dragonborn thing get far behind he. I really just want to get back
to how things use to be in my old cit." I said as I was taking the last sip of my drink.
"There is no refusing the Greybeards calling, they will continue to pester you and pester you until you finally decide to meet them.
I envy you friend, I made the pilgrimage up the seven thousand steps once when I was in my younger days." said Jarl Applejack.
"Great so what your saying is that my life will never be able to go back to normal, wonderful." I said with a heart filled sigh
" I'll tell you this friend, for all that you have done for my city I will bestow onto you the greatest title I can." she said.
She motioned me to kneel down and draws her sword. She taps one of my shoulders with her sword and then taps my other while saying." I bestow onto you the title of Thane. I will let the guards know of your newly found title and as some added gifts I will give you a shield and axe from my personal armory along with a new home for you here in the city for you to store your treasures and rest your head."
"Thank you Jarl Applejack the Great, I accept these gifts in the name of my family." I said rising and grabbing my gifts.
I headed to my new home in the center of town, it was small but it fit perfectly for someone with my lifestyle. Well I think
that I cant really say that my old lifestyle is what I still live now that I'm what they keep calling a dragonborn. I rest my head
on my new bed and try to think about what I'm going to do about this mess that I've gotten myself into. After a while my eyes close and i
drift off to sleep.
