2. Duties

It was a warm Summer day, the birds were singing and there were just a few clouds left in the sky. Twilight dashed through one with ease. "Thanks for teaching me to fly, Rainbow Dash", Twilight said cheerfully. "No Problemo", Rainbow Dash replied. Thousands of other ponies were having fun and cheering, for Celestia had risen the sun once again for the Summer Sun Festival. The ponies started running around having fun, playing games and going on rides. Twilight smiled remembering the first time she saw Celestia raise the sun at the Summer Sun Festival. She never knew she would get this far. When they finished clearing the clouds, they went down to enjoy the fun, too. Rainbow Dash went over to the other ponies of the mane six and enjoyed some cider. It was very lively at the festival, and something caught Twilight's eye. It was an old ride she remembered riding when she was just a filly. She was amazed it still worked. She asked her friends if they wanted to come, and they all smiled and said, "Sure!". They all had fun that one day. Like many other days. Twilight thought she would remember this day forever, and she was right. Princess Celestia called her back into the castle to show her duties. "Twilight, your duty is to raise the stars tonight, okay?", Celestia said. "Yes m'am!", Twilight said cheerfully to do her first job as a princess. It was a beautiful and cold night that night, all the ponies had drifted off to sleep, and Twilight and Luna smiled. "You did good for your first job, but they can get harder over a few years", Luna said. Twilight just smiled and said, "I'm sure I can do it with my friends by my side!". It was a sentence she would look back on decades after she had said it.
