//-------------------------------------------------------// Eighth Note: Rock n' Roll -by Shores2510- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Sup, I'm Eighth Note! //-------------------------------------------------------// Sup, I'm Eighth Note! Oh hey there! I'm Eighth Note, a rocking, guitar playing pegasus! I'm not really the type of pegasus you would see flying around normally at Cloudsdale or Ponyville. You see, I'm a little off the edge most of the time. Whenever I'm out, I always go at a rather fast rate due to my hyperactivity. Most of the time, everypony doesn't mind, but at other times, there are a few ponies that I'll drive to the point of insanity. If I'm not out bouncing off the walls, I'm either rocking it out with my band, The Flying Saucer, at concerts, or at home or a friend's house winning and loosing at video games. There are even times where I'm just too lazy to do anything at all. If that's the case, then my friend and rival, Rainbow Dash, has to shove me around to be productive. My Celestia, she's like my mom at times. Rainbow Dash and I were great friends since we were fillies. We were always racing around Cloudsdale and the outskirts of Ponyville, and I always lost. Someday though, I will beat her..... someday. We were always teasing each other as well, though I had to be careful with what I say. One time, I teased her about how her head looked like a rat's nest in the morning. I wasn't able to look straight for the next three hours. She can scare me at times, and I feel weak when she does. It's sad, I know. Despite all the racing competitions I have with my rainbow-maned friend, I'm not really one for sports. I've tried it before, like in wrestling at Flight School (I'm not really sure why they have that sport at a FLYING school). Although I did get a gold medal in one tournament, I vowed to never join the wrestling team again as long as I had air in my lungs. It was just too awkward for me. Now about my band. Like I've mention a minute ago, my band is called The Flying Saucer. It's pretty funny how it all started. It was a few years back when I was a Junior at Flight School. I was always inspired by the other band groups that went to my school. Since I knew how to play guitar back then, I figured maybe I could form a rock band myself. So later after school was out, I flew down to the music center at Ponyville and posted some flyers that said I was looking for a singer, a bassist, and a drummer. A few days later, I got a knock on my door. When I opened the door, I thought, Oh crap... As you may guess, it was High Pitch. You see, High and I didn't get along well in 8th grade, and Freshman, Sophomore, and half of Junior year we never talked to each other. And here he was, at my door, after years of silence. I wondered what he was here for. Was he gonna apologize for making bad times between us? Was he here to start causing trouble again? Or maybe.... "You were looking for a singer?" High Pitch simply asked. This guy wanted to be my singer? I thought. I was kind of surprised by this. I wonder how I caught his interest? "Er, yeah," I replied awkwardly, "You can sing?" I'll be honest, I never knew he could sing. He blew me away when he demonstrated. It was amazing! It was like Princess Celestia had enhanced his voice using some sort of 'voice enhancing' spell. I told him that I needed a bassist and a drummer now. To my relief, High Pitch had a friend that played the bass-guitar, and he could ask him if he wanted to join us. Finding the drummer wasn't really difficult either, since I knew this drum player at Flight School. I went over and asked him if he wanted to join our band the next day. He gladly accepted the offer. Don't ask us how we came up with the band name 'The Flying Saucer'. The history behind that is too shmucked up to repeat. All this in my life combined makes me feel complete, sort of. There are still, many, many things out there in Equestria that I feel the need to fulfill. I've never performed with my band anywhere else but Ponyville or Cloudsdale. It was starting to get really boring, even though we had many fans out there in those areas. I guess one day, somepony will come up to me with some message saying that my band is invited to play at Canterlot or so-- Oh, hold on. This one messenger pegasus wants to talk to me... //-------------------------------------------------------// Perform at Canterlot??? //-------------------------------------------------------// Perform at Canterlot??? "Oh, hold on," I said to the person reading this fimfiction, "This messenger pegasus wants to talk to me." I looked back at the pegasus who was floating a little bit unsteadily beside me. What's this mare's name again? Ditzy Doo? Derpy? I'm pretty sure that's it. Derpy's a very sweet mare. She's not the brightest pegasus around (you could tell by her eyes that were going in different directions), but she's very friendly, and she always offers a muffin or two whenever she has a container of them. Derpy dropped down with a thud. She probably needed to work more on landing. In her mouth, she held a slightly glowing letter that had a Canterlot seal on it, along with my name on it. Everything around me seemed to go silent. Could this be? Could this be the message I was just talking about a minute ago? If it is, then I wonder if I start talking about Derpy coming up to me with a package filled with millions of bits, then I'll get a package with millions of bits in it? I took the letter from bubbly pegasus and thanked her. I zoomed off toward home, crashing into large pillar that supported one of the buildings first, then when my home was in view, I aimed to go through my bedroom window. The window was slightly ajar, but do you really think that would stop me? When I zipped through the window, I started to congratulate myself for not crashing into the wall instead of going through the window, but then I realized I was still going at high speeds. I crashed into my wall in my bedroom. Rough afternoon.... I regained my consciousness a few hours later. It was night time, I suppose around 7 - 8:00. I decided that I should get that letter a reading. I carefully opened up the letter and took out the message. My jaw was on the floor the whole time I was reading, and I was flying at the height of my ceiling! Dear Eighth Note, You and your band, The Flying Saucer, are invited to perform at my Music Festival here in Canterlot! People in Canterlot actually liked my music? I guess not all of those ponies are snotty. Many ponies here in the city have been asking me to let you people perform a gig at this party. I've been listening to a few of your songs, and I gotta say, they're pretty awesome! You guys rock! The festival will begin at November 15, in which you guys will began to perform at noon. Better bring a jacket. You guys should really come and perform for your fans! I'd love to see you four, too! Hope to see you there! Vinyl Scratch (a.k.a. DJ PON-3) I don't know how loud I screamed in pure happiness for, but I was pretty sure that if I didn't shut up, I'd have the neighbors banging at my door. I calmed down and called my singer, High Pitch. //-------------------------------------------------------// Over the Phone... //-------------------------------------------------------// Over the Phone... "Oh... my..... CELESTIA!" High Pitch cried over the line, "You're serious?!" "Yeah, man!" I excitedly replied. "Man? What's a 'man'?" I realized what I just said. What is a 'man'? "I don't know," I answered, "It just felt natural to say. Anyway, we perform in November, so yeah, jackets, y'know. And we gotta get our music playing from good, to professionally badass. We gotta impress Vinyl Scratch, and this is Canterlot, so we gotta take things up a notch." "Yeah ma-, er, mare, er, bro!" High struggled to reply, "Dang it! You almost got me saying it!" "Sorry," I chuckled, "But seriously, we gotta step up our game. We have to look professional for the ponies at Canterlot. You know how they can be." "Meet tomorrow for practice?" High offered. "Yeah, at noon." "Alright, I'm gonna go tell Bass Cannon right now. He's staying over tonight. Be right back." I heard him put his phone down and walk over to Bass Cannon, our bassist. I could hear the hilarious 'HOLY SWEET FILLY CELESTIA' from the other side. It was obvious that Bass was exited. I heard High Pitch pick up his phone again, "Yeah, he's up for it!" "Awesome! Hey, you two wanna play some Mineclop?" "Oho yeah!" I hung up my phone and hovered over to my computer. I wiggled the mouse a bit so the moniter would wake up from it's hibernation. Time to mine some diamonds.
