Steam, Steel and Friendship

"Twilight. Twilight, wake up. You can't sleep off your problems. Not yet anyways. Open your eyes, sleepyhead" Twilight woke with a shake from a certain Rainbow haired girl. "Get up Twi, we're almost ready to go."What time is it right now?" Twilight said, still sitting straight up from Rainbow Dash waking her. "About 11:20." Said Dash. *Why didn't you wake me up sooner? You know I don't like to be late for stuff!" Said the Unicorn. "We tried for about three hours." "Seriously?" "Yeah, seriously." "C'mon and get outside, everyone else is waiting." The two made their way outside of Twilight's house to find three other figures. Pinkie and Fluttershy were quietly watching a colony of ants while Rarity was talking to herself about new ideas for dresses. AJ was nowhere to be seen though. Everyone looked over to see Twilight and Rainbow emerging from the giant tree and waved. "Has anyone seen Applejack around here?" Said Twilight. "She said that she would be back soon, she went to go get Spike from the market." Said Fluttershy.

"So Spike, whats in that cart of yours?" Said Applejack, pushing a fully laden cart through the bustling market of Ponyville. "Oh, just provision for a few months." Said Spike. "And if you had to give an estimate, where would it be?" "I told you, a few months." "Alrighty, fine. I'm just not sure if 'A few months' is gonna cut it. Especially with Pinkies appetite lately." The two made their way back to Twi's house with time to spare. "Oooh, whats in this one?" Said Pinkie, almost jumping into the cart. "Easy there Pinkie" Said AJ. "Spike said that all this should last a few months." The farmer shot a "don't eat our food in the middle of the night" glance at the Pink haired girl. Pinkie smiled sheepishly and took her provisions, as did the other 5 girls.

"Well, here we are. About to save the world and stuff." Said Dash. "If anyone feels uncomfortable with their machine, speak up now." Said AJ. Before the girls stood 5 hulking machines. But not just any machines. Massive, heavily armored, diesel powered war machines. "No objections? Great." "Everyone remember their crew assignments?" Twilight and Spike shared a walker, as did Rarity and Fluttershy. Dash, Pinkie and AJ all had their own machines, each one of them different. Twilight's, standing just over 30 feet tall, had two massive cannons mounted on articulating arms on each side. As did Rarity's and Fluttershy's, but slightly shorter and less armored. Pinkies stood about 38 feet tall, with 4 machine cannons mounted on either side. Dash's and AJ's walkers both stood around 42 feet tall and both had giant hydraulic rams for clearing through rubble and such. The only distinct difference was their armaments. AJ's had 2 huge guns on one side, and a rocket launcher on the other. Rainbow's had 4 guns on either side, with massive flamethrowers beside them.

"Fire 'em up and see if their too yer liking, girls. I had Big Mac and a few of his buddies tune the engines last night." Said AJ through the intercom. Soon, half of Ponyville was looking towards Golden Oaks Library, trying to figure out what the relentless roar was. Each of the girls put the machines through their paces. "Spike, anything looking weird down there?" Said Twilight over the roar of the engines. "Nope, everything lookin' just fine." "Yelloooo?" Said Dash over the intercom. "Let's get this show on the road, Equestria isn't gonna save itself ya'know." And with that, the girls stomped down the dirt roads leading into the Everfree Forest.
