The First One Down.
Chapter 1
Load Full StoryTime and space is all interconnected. Universes to universes, planets to planets. Often these planes of existence hold their own rules. Their own laws of physics. Their own moralities. In one universe, one could have been born an opposite gender. In a set of universes, it is possible to travel from one to another with a form of vehicle which could bend time and space for travel through the warps which usually separate such universes. Some of these vehicles of time warp themselves across time and space to actually help others. These machines often make a sort of screeching sound as they come full stop to a destination.
That haunting screaming sound echoed through the pale grey mare's head, scrambling her already numerous and chaotic thoughts. A calm, robotic, feminine voice played as the screeching stopped. "Warp to most immediate threat complete. Engage when ready, Doctor." That's right... This was the TARDIS(Time And Relative Dimensions In Space). A scorched blue shadow of the machine's former glory. It still referred to this blue eyed grey mare as her time lord half... once the great doctor, hero of time. Now only half of a pony's anatomy. The dark half of her mind.
No matter what she could think, the only possible voice she could understand was the robotic one of that machine she now called home. Where was she? When was she? Such questions are easy when you have one mind in full control. When you have one in control, but at war with another? Not so much.
The Time Lady dragged herself up from her previous position. She had been asleep... At least trying to sleep. The broken doctor's voice threatened her constantly. Sometimes his threats made her two hearts pound in her chest. Two hearts, a consequence of the great accident she herself caused. She is the reason for her beloved Doctor's pain. If only she hadn't attacked him that day, maybe she'd still be her normal googly eyed self.
Best not to dwell on the past. The TARDIS gave her an objective. The least she can do is carry out the Doctor's duties. She was technically the Doctor now anyway. At least the TARDIS thought so. Must be something to do with something only the TARDIS could detect.
"Good luck and a safe return, doctor." The feminine robotic voice echoed through her head, silencing the voices.
Those blue doors she knew only so well in her own memories of adventure opened inwards, revealing another door. This one had shutters of which the Time Lady could look through. As she tried to do just that, a splash of something thick and wet shot past the slats, oozing on her scarf. In disgust, her mixed instincts fired off, propelling her forwards. The door opened easily, allowing the once quiet silence to shift. Disgusting squelching sounds became more frequent as well as a frighteningly familiar giggle. The hunched individual swung long pink protrusions down, a long object dripping red as it came up before being thrust down into whatever was before the unknown individual.
The time lady gulped nervously, her pale blonde hair hiding the look of horror on her face. She took a step closer. Her hoof creaked against the rotted wood floors. Suddenly the hunched individual, now very clearly pink with straight hair down to her shoulders, froze mid swing. The horrifying laughter died with a gasp as the long dripping object shook in her hooves.
As suddenly as the giggling stopped, the hunched individual turned around, placing the knife to balance on her insanely grinning muzzle. "Why hello there Derpy Hooves. Did you get lost delivering some mail? Too bad you've seen too much. I was rather fond of you. Pity."
Such insane ramblings from somepony everypony had called friend. Where had the TARDIS taken her that one of her very best friends became a psychotic killer?
"What's wrong, Derpy?" Pinkie stood on her hind legs, flipping the knife into the air. The red fluid shot off the blade in all directions, coating the pink hoof which caught the handle in more blood than what originally seemed to caress her pink coat... "Pinkie got your tongue?" She cackled maniacally, licking her knife in a teasing manner. Just behind her was a blue mass surrounded in vibrant rainbow colored hair.
This insane doppelganger killed their mutual friend. Ditzy's sad icy blue right eye focused on the heap of bleeding gore that once embodied Rainbow Dash, or at least a version from this universe. The threat was clear. The danger couldn’t be more apparent. Ditzy hung backwards, falling onto her hind legs. The muscles of her entire body rippled, ready for any sort of action. The TARDIS accident had many side effects, besides the obvious of placing two ponies into one body, shoving twice the mass into one space. Two brains function inside one head, the strength of two ponies coursed through the time lady’s veins. She had her advantage, strength, while her adversary had that despicable weapon of murder. Disadvantages? Her left eye was still misaligned from before the accident as her right was corrected. In short, she couldn’t directly make out her left side.
Neither pony moved from their ready positions. The only noise being the maniacal giggling that Pinkie continuously emitted. Ditzy’s face clenched with anger as sweat dripped down from her hair to her brow. The room was hot and smelled of death. Pinkie’s rampage would end here. No more would be hurt if she can manage it!
The evil pink being thrust her head back, laughing in such a manner to make skin crawl, to make blood boil and to make chills rush up anypony’s spine. Pinkie slouched back forwards, balancing on her hind hooves. With a dash, she was heading straight for Ditzy, her knife aimed for the mare’s chests. For Ditzy, it would only be scarier if Pinkie could hear her two hearts beating.
The knife closed in on its target, though not before the sound of a single wing flap shot through the room. Ditzy propelled herself out of the way with the use of her strong wings. Though now Pinkie was on her left!
“Are you Scared, Derpy? Maybe I should bake you into some nice special cupcakes... Just like Dashie here. Oh but you stopped me before I could mix them. Too bad. I would have given you one!”
The knife came from Ditzy’s blind spot, grazing passed Ditzy’s scarf before it impaled itself into Ditzy’s shoulder. She sucked in a breath, holding back the pain. Her body whipped out on its own, hurling her left leg out to collide with Pinkie’s stomach. The resulting “Oof” sent Pinkie into a ball on the ground. Just long enough for Ditzy to remove the knife. Her red blood dripped off the knife along with Rainbow Dash’s. Anger flooded her very being. Her friend was dead because of another she thought was her friend. Oh but this was another universe. It was too confusing! The anger built up and up as the knife fell down and down.
The Time Lady’s body started to darken slowly at first, stunning Pinkie, ceasing the infernal laughter. Ditzy’s mouth twisted into a smile filled with pearly teeth. Each tooth appeared to sharpen ever so slightly. Her eyes burst open, filling the darkness of her shadowing form with gold. The two eyes straightened perfectly as she allowed her own maniacal laugh to escape.
“Pinkie... You shouldn’t have done that... Killing a friend. Stabbing another. Oh such a laugh. Tell me. Do you know your future? What’ll result of this?”
Her voice unrecognizable, thick with gruff anger, Ditzy continued her rant, approaching the fearful murderous maniac. The knife lay behind Ditzy now, completely forgotten. A sudden rush of hooves as now Ditzy had Pinkie pinned to the wall, holding a long dark brown leg against her sensitive throat.
“In one future, you’re executed in front of everypony in Canterlot.” Her free hoof rushed from nowhere, colliding with Pinkie’s stomach, warranting a shock of pain and gasping.
“In another you continue killing until someone finally finds you out... You’re executed after being tortured for the thousands you butchered. Kind of ironic. A baker being a butcher?”
The hoof collided again in the same spot. A small crack filled Pinkie’s eyes with tears. The force of Ditzy’s hoof against her ribs, at twice the normal strength of a pony, had cracked two.
“Hey Pinkie.” Ditzy leaned in closer, her nose an inch from Pinkie’s. Her eyes taunted the pink pony.
“D-Derpy?” She stuttered out, coughing up a few teaspoons of her own thick blood onto Ditzy’s arm.
“Playtime’s over.” A rush of motions as the sinister golden eyed pony threw pinkie into the air, undoing her scarf. The scarf flopped to the ground as Pinkie hit the ceiling, breaking the already cracked ribs. The dark Time Lady grinned, holding back a giggle as she swung out her scarf. The many striped fabric lashed out, looping around Pinkie’s neck as she fell. Against the pain of the previous stab wound, Ditzy flew up into the air very suddenly, catching the maniac as she fell. The upward pull of such force tightened the scarf around Pinkie’s neck until a loud, sickening pop echoed through the halls. The pink maniac hung from the scarf just above the ground, a look of horror over her eyes to match her unhappy face. No more smiles. No more dead ponies.
“In this Future. You never kill another.”
Losing control is sure to be the end of at least one individual. Though in the end, consider this. Is it better that one dies, or that thousands die? Should many suffer, or just one?
Eventually the golden eyes changed back to an icy blue, sending shock-waves of pain back through the pale grey body of Ditzy. Her wing was heavily damaged from the knife. So she fell to the ground. Fall and hit the ground very hard she did, adding splitting cuts to her body as well as bruises. More souvenirs of what transpired here.
“I-I’m sorry Rainbow Dash. I wasn’t.” She paused, whimpering in pain as she drug herself back to the TARDIS. “I wasn’t fast enough.”
This ponyverse lost one insane pony. Too bad they’ll never know that the lives of several thousand were saved by yet another insane pony. Fighting fire with fire definitely burned Ditzy Doo.
