Fatal Kindness
The Date and the Book
Load Full StoryNopony knows more about fantasy creatures than the Bearer of Kindness. She can communicate with the animals and tend to their every need, and she will believe in any creature, big or small, real or mythical. But something was wrong with her. Even she doesn't know what's wrong with her. She has been hiding in the dark a lot lately, and feeds off of fear. She wanted this to stop, but found no other way, because every time she tries, she hears her own voice, but darker and colder.
"Why? This is fun!"
Twilight Sparkle was in her study and search her shelves for a book she'd never read before, and found one, in which it looks like it was a hundred years old. The binding was leather, but tearing apart, several pages were missing, and gold lettering on the cover read: "The Exorcisms of Equestria by Prof. Dark."
"I haven't heard of 'Exorcisms', before," she said to herself, and opened the book. The illustrations showed ponies with pure black eyes and bloody teeth. Twilight almost gagged and shut the book immediately, hoping she would never open it again. She used her magic to put the book back where it belonged and called.
"Spike?"
A little dragon with purple scales ran down the stairs and he was wearing a black tuxedo. "You called, Twi?"
"Have you ever heard of..." Twilight gulped and sighed. "... exorcising?"
The look on Spike's face told her that he has no clue on what that is. "You mean, like running and jumping?" Twilight shook her head.
"No, I mean... Never mind. Why are you dressed like that?"
"This?" Spike looked down and smiled. "I have a date, you know."
"Rarity?" Twilight sniggered.
"Yeah," Spike suddenly went to a stupor. It took a little shove to wake him up. "We will be going to Pony Peak, just north of here." Pony Peak was the most romantic spot in Equestria, besides Cloudsdale.
"Well, have fun." Twilight opened the door for Spike and the dragon walked out. She trotted in a circle and thought. "What is Exorcism, Twilight?"
Spike hurried to the Carousal Boutique to meet his date, a white unicorn with a violet, curled mane and is now wearing a emerald green and indigo dragon necklace. He was again in his love trance, when Rarity spoke.
"Ready to get going?"
Spike, then, snapped out of his trance. "Yeah, I'm ready." and they walked off to Pony Peak. A sudden trot in the moonlight, and a pair of yellow eyes were staring in the twilight of Ponyville, saying to itself.
"This is going to be fun."
The summit of Pony Peak was nice and cool, and visitors can get a good view of Manehatten, Ponyville and Cloudsdale from there. Several pony couples were already muzzling each other when Rarity and Spike got there. They were bedazzled by the many stars in the sky and the quarter moon, which means the younger princess, Luna, was not happy about something. (Obviously).
"This looks as dazzling as a diamond." Rarity said in awe.
"I know." Spike huffed. "I though you might want to see something...dazzling." A pair of Pegasi were walking into the forest path that lead back to Ponyville, but as they got in, there was a sudden scream, and everybody stared at the entrance, in fear. Spike, suddenly, found an idea.
"Stay here." Spike commanded to the frightened unicorns and ponies. "I'll figure out what the problem is."
"But what if you..." Rarity cried, but Spike smiled.
"I'll be back, don't worry." and he walked into the forest, alone. Rarity walked to the entrance.
"Oh, Celestia, please keep him safe."
Spike walked into the dark, leafy forest, unknowing what lies ahead. What if an Ursa Minor was waiting for it's next victim? Or a scarier dragon? His stomach was now full of guilt and fear. What if he died, just for impressing a unicorn? If he does die, he will never do anything like this again.
RUSTLE!
Spike nearly jump out of his own body, and whirled around to see a Pegasus, with a long dark orange mane, and dark red skin. Her eyes were gas gold as a Bit, but the whiteness was rose red. She was covered in blood, and trotted closer to Spike.
"Hello, little dragon." It said in a low, cruel voice. She looked familiar, but Spike didn't have time to find out who she was.
Spike didn't know what to do! If he ran back to Rarity, everyone there will die. If he dies, he'll never see Rarity again. So, he had no choice. He breathed a large quanity of fire at the crazy Pegasus and ran to the summit.
He made it to the point and he pulled on Rarity's hair. The uncorn noticed the dragon and hugged him.
"What's wrong, Spikey Wikey?" she said cooingly.
"WE GOTTA GET OUT OF HERE!!" Spike shouted and the mare behind him called.
"Why?" the mare asked.
"There's a psychotic pony trying to kill everyone! GO, WHILE YOU STILL HAVE A CHANCE!" Spike was now going frantic, and the other ponies laughed.
"There hasn't been a murder in Equestria...ever!" The mare said, again.
"Well, face reality, shitface!" Spike was starting to turn red. "There's one now, so RUN!!"
The Mare sighed and rose from the edge. "Let's go, honey." and the pony rose as well. They left in disgust and so was Rarity.
"What was that all about?" She was furious.
"I'm sorry, Rare, but we have to go!" Spike was frantic.
