What Lies Within
The Everfree forest has come to be feared by all ponies, and for good reason. But when Celestia sends Twilight to investigate a strange power within the trees, will Twilight be able to face her fears, and the horror that lies within?

For many centuries, the citizens of Ponyville have regarded the Everfree forest as a place of brutal beasts and unrestrained magic, and not without reason. From the deadly cockatrice to the horrible hydra, no shortage of terrors roam those woods. Twilight Sparkle has come against these beasts firsthand, escaping just barely with help from her friends, and regards the forest with caution.
One day, Princess Celestia sends Twilight an urgent letter, deliverd by Royal Guards. Celestia has felt the stirrings of a deep and powerful magic, and wants Twilight to investigate right away. Twilight, proud to have been chosen for such an important task, soon wilts when she reads the rest of the letter. The power is within the Everfree Forest.
Even with the power of friendship and a patrol of Royal Guards, will Twilight have the strength to face Fear?

This story happens before the events of Magical Mystery Cure (aka before Twilight sprouts wings) but after Discord's reformation.
