Chapters The Return of Nightmare Moon
It was a beautiful night in Canterlot so Princess Luna decided to take a walk. Her sister, Princess Celestia was getting ready for the Summer Sun Celebration. Luna felt left out. There wasn't an annual event for her night. Nopony would even dare go outside. Tears came to her eyes as she trotted through Ponyville to find her sister to tell her how she really felt. When Luna got there, Princess Celestia was already raising the sun. Once the sun was high in the sky, Celestia fell to the ground in exhaust. Luna whispered how she felt into Celestia's ear. Luna then noticed that her sister was asleep. Her anger built up as she flew back to Canterlot into her sister's room. She found a picture of Celestia and ripped it in half. "There shall be sunlight no more." She said as her eyes narrowed and a cloud of purple dust surrounded her. Her coat became dark and her mane turned in to the purple dust. As her armor clanged onto her, she could feel that she had changed. She had become, Nightmare Moon. She turned into the purple dust and flew out to kill everypony that would have a chance of defeating her. The Elements of Harmony had defeated her before, so she decided that they would be first.
Nightmare Moon felt much more powerful than before as she defeated some royal guards. She knew that the Elements of Harmony would be after her first, so they would be next. Twilight and her friends trotted through Ponyville, talking and giggling. Nightmare Moon appeared in front of them. "You shall praise your Sun Princess no more!" She shouted as she used a spell and turned them to stone. The statues fell and broke into pieces. She knew who would be next, the rest of the royal guards. She appeared in front of the royal guards whom were protecting the castle. One by one, she defeated each one as quickly as they charged. Shining Armor was in the middle of the bodies, getting ready to use a spell. She then used her magic as a beam of blue light came at her. Shining Armor collapsed as she thought about who would be next. An idea came to her head and it was her best idea yet. There was another Alicorn left, Cadence. Cadence was the only other pony who might be able to put up a fight. Could Cadence survive?
Princess Cadence still ruled over the Crystal Empire and knew what happened around that place but she didn't expect what happened to her. Princess Cadence silently slept in her bed as the purple cloud of smoke came in and transformed. She suddenly awoke from the blinding light in front of her. Nightmare Moon's horn began to glow as she prepared to finish Cadence. Cadence called for Shining Armor but nopony came. She decided that she would have to try and defeat Nightmare Moon before she got to Princess Celestia. "Farewell, my friend. You shall be missed." Nightmare Moon said as a dark ray come from her horn. Princess Cadence saw the attack and quickly dodged and did the same. Nightmare Moon fell to the ground knowing that Cadence was stronger than she expected. Nightmare's horn glowed again as she was surrounded in a purple aura. She walked up to Cadence and said, "Well, this is you're real farewell. Any last words?" Princess Cadence ducked and moved behind Nightmare. "Just one, duck!" She said as Nightmare saw an orange royal guard darting at her. "But, I defeated them all! This can't be!" She shouted as she transformed back into the cloud of smoke and fled.
Princess Celestia was the only one left that might have a chance of defeating Nightmare Moon. Nightmare Moon teleported back to the castle. She went into her room and opened up a secret box that contained the Alicorn Amulet. She put it on and ran over to Celestia, who was sleeping. Nightmare Moon knew it would be quick and easy until Celestia woke up from the magical aura surrounding her horn. She slowly opened her eyes to see a dark beam coming at her. Celestia used a spell to protect herself and jumped out the window. Lots of ponies in Canterlot woke up and went outside to see what was going on. Nightmare Moon flew out the window as Celestia sent a golden beam of light at Nightmare Moon. She countered with her own spell, and since she had the Alicorn Amulet it made her stronger. Celestia fell to the ground and Nightmare Moon flew after her. "Luna, this isn't you. Stop, please." Celestia pleaded. "It's too late for that. I'm tired of always being your shadow. Nopony likes me. But, when I become the ruler of Equestria, they'll have to like me. I'll be nice and not kill you, but I am going to send you to the sun!" Nightmare Moon stated as her horn glowed and Celestia was surrounded in a dark aura and she was slowly teleported away. "I am now your ruler, Equestria! You will obey me, and if you don't your going to end up like Celestia." Nightmare Moon shouted as she lowered flags with the moon on them. Celestia was gone. Would she be back in thousand years like Luna? Nightmare Moon turned back into Luna. What had she done she wondered? The ponies began a riot against her. She flew away, weak from the battle. She locked herself in her room as somepony threw a brick in her window with a note attached to it. She read it, it said "Luna, why have you banished Celestia to the sun? Did you want her to feel pain like you did? You have made bad choices. You will have to raise the sun and moon everyday. I heard you had trouble at first. Your going to have a lot more raising the sun now. Face it, you need Celestia. Signed, your Worst Nightmare" She didn't know what she had done. Raising the sun and moon would be a tough task for her, but she knew Celestia was gone for a thousand years. There was nothing she could do about it. It was all her fault.
Nightmare Moon knew she could still travel into a pony's dream. "I'll just sneak into her dream and kill her." She said as she laughed evilly. She peered into Cadence's window and saw that she was sleeping. Nightmare Moon teleported into the dream world and went into Cadence's dream. She saw that there was a door for her to wake up. She saw Cadence playing with Twilight. Her horn glowed dark blue as she released a beam of darkness at Cadence. Cadence's dream had turned into a nightmare. Cadence also had dreamed of having Shining Armor protect her at any cost, but when Shining Armor came out to fight, Nightmare Moon sent a small dark ball at him and he died. Cadence was terrified and ran over to the door. Nightmare Moon blocked the door as Cadence tried to push her out of the way. Nightmare Moon dreamed of a machete and one appeared in her hooves. She swiped at Cadence and saw that one of Cadence's wings were bleeding. She giggled in amusement, but she knew it wasn't over yet. She dreamed of the key to lock the door and dreamed of lasers to keep it blocked. Cadence's mouth dropped open since she knew she wouldn't be able to escape. The orange guard that had tried to defeat her before joined in the dream. She didn't know what to do. Then she remembered the machete and threw it had Cadence. It had got her chest. Cadence fell to the ground without breathing. She had died from blood loss. Nightmare removed the knife and licked the blade. She then threw it at the orange guard. The guard died, just like Cadence. She teleported out of the dream and saw that Cadence wasn't breathing. She had succeeded. Cadence's crystal heart was shattered.
