Beyond the limits
“Water. Water all around. Can't breath! Can't move!”
Insight was starting to panic he felt the water crushing his lungs and the limited vision he had starting to fade to black. Then he felt something grab him and start pulling him down. He gathered as much strength as possible and tried to swim up, but it was no use, he just continued to sink. As he looked up with barely any vision he had realized one thing “sorry.”
Insight shot up of his bed gasping for air, flinging his cat Mr. Fuzzy against the wall, frantically searching himself to make sure all limbs were in fact still attached and functional, he went over to the bathroom mirror looking at his dark Grey hair and sun deprived tan skin, as he was changing into his sterile white shirt and pants, when he noticed that he was about 5' 11'' “hurray I’m taller.” he thought sarcastically. After being satisfied that he was indeed not harmed, he looked over at the clock on his nightstand “2:29 am, well I’m not sleeping anytime soon and I don't think I’d want to after that dream. No not a dream a memory. The same memory I got from that kid yesterday.” Insight looked into the night stand next to the bed and pulled out a worn leather book with the title Memories, he remembered when his father had found out he could read memories and recent thoughts...

“Now the doctor said that you are the only one that has come to him with this condition and -” “that I was probably the only one in the world with this condition, right?” Insight interrupted his father, Chance. “Yeah” he said a bit saddened. “and so they want me to stay here for a couple of years so that they can figure out whats wrong with me?” “Mm hmm” he sighed as he looked away from Insight. “I want you to stay.” Chance exclaimed. “but dad I don't need to stay, I’ve been just as I always have. It's you that’s changed, ever since mom died, everything I do is wrong in your eyes! And you know what I saw how you could have saved her, she was still alive even after the semi-truck hit the van, but no you didn’t call the cops until it was to late!” his father turned around and said “You probably know this but I never wanted a kid! I wasted ten years of my life raising you, and it was only because you where the only thing left from her! Here, take it she wanted you to use it.” he said the last part in utter discuss after tossing the book behind him, he walked out the door. A short while later a large man with a fedora and a thick Fu Manchu-like mustache came in the doorway,his mind said he was the 'manliest brony in the world'. “come on kid lets get you to your room.”
[present day]
Insight admits that he wasn’t very proud of what he did but it was the father he had known, the real chance , and after that incident he wasn’t surprised that he was still in the hospital. To this day they still haven’t figured out what gives him his “ability”. “ha, ability,more like curse. Every day I look into the nurses eyes and see that they can go out and see the world while I have to sit inside a white room with a bed, a night stand, a clock and a cat as my occupants. But that's going to change in about two hours.” insight thought as he walked to the window and stared into the Everfree forest. Nothing beyond that Forrest was mapped, it was perfect. Insight walked away from the window and started writing in the Memories book “yesterday I had gotten out of the room for a bit through the vent above my bed and I saw this kid, couldn’t be no more than eleven, being brought in on a stretcher and when I looked into his eyes I was him drowning and then nothing his last thoughts were “sorry”. I don’t know what it meant because I didn’t have time to search his memories and get back to my room before the guards caught me. I had tried to get back into my room but couldn’t find my way back, so I did the next best thing, find a custodian and get the info from him. Apparently my father and I are not the only ones with unusual names while going through the memories of the custodian I found out his name is Spotless thought that it was oddly specific taking in the fact that he was in fact a janitor of sorts. Insight had stopped writing and looked over at the clock “hmm, 4:08 already? The guards go to break around 4:20 so I have about eleven minutes. Huh,?”
Insight started to feel something crawl up his pant leg “oh hey Mr. Fuzzy.” Insight picked up the Grey tabby and set him on his lap while petting him. “I cant believe that I have had this cat a week ago for an experiment and then tell me to forget the experiment. I wish they would let me see their eyes so I could at least know what those doctors are thinking. Wait... thinking... cat... really, they want me to read the cats mind. why haven’t I thought of this before?” “okay Mr. Fuzzy lets see what your thinking, hmm?” insight continued to pet Mr. Fuzzy while picking him up and stared directly into the cats odd neon blue eyes. “Oh, look the dummy finally figures it out. I would have thought you would have understood before now.” “hey you try being tested upon and poked and prodded at!” insight stops petting Mr. Fuzzy “I have and also, why have you stopped slave/friend? Start pleasing me immediately or you will feel the wrath of my ancestors upon your face!” Mr. Fuzzy was starting to raise his paw before insight had restarted petting him. “i could dump him off when I leave this tartarus replica, but then I would be lonely and having rude company is better than no company.” 'BEEP-BEEP-BEEP' the alarm clock was going off indicating that its time. “Whelp, I guess its time for us to make our leave Mr. Fuzzy.” insight said as he opened the air vent above the bed and tossed Mr. Fuzzy in, the cat just looked back at insight with pure evil in his eyes. “Look, the only reason I am going with you is to get out of the white void you call a room, slave/friend.” “Oh, come off it Mr. Fuzzy. Besides we should be out of this dump soon.” He stated while finally fitting into the vent shaft. After crawling through cob webs and spider webs alike for a while Mr. Fuzzy stops and turns to look at him. “slave, I have wondered why you haven't escaped before this time? I mean you have had an untold amount of chances before this, so why now?” insight stops crawling and starts to think. “well I guess its because I was holding out on the thought that my father may return for me, but as time went on I slowly realized he was never coming back, I know that he wouldn't but it was nice to hope.” insight stated crestfallen. The cat just turned around and started to walk the vents again. After getting lost a few times they finally made it to the outer vent but one thing was blocking their way, the ventilation fan. Looking at the fan closer, he saw that the mesh wiring is a bit loose, but the fan was making it difficult to breath since it was moving so fast. Insight had walked over to the mesh and started pull it from the fans panel. “God dammit, why did I leave the screwdriver in the room? Oh, yea cause it wont work on wood.” Mr. Fuzzy just tilted his head in confusion. “never mind, GAHH.” Insight had finally gotten the mesh to come off albeit at the expense of his rear. He had gotten back up and was wrapping it up so that he could stop the blades on the fan. Insight looked at his hand with the mesh in it and then to the blades. “Well, here goes nothing.” he jabbed the blade into the fan and watched as the blades hit it, a couple of the blade bent and broke on contact, then one finally got caught in the mesh and stopped the fan cold. Insight looked over at Mr. Fluffy. “Shall we?” “I believe we shall!!”
