Chapter 1: A Day with the one you Love
The light summer breeze swept across a lone and still lake somewhere in Equestria. It was part of a secluded forest with tall trees which surrounded the large pond, towering over the small opening like walls in a prison.
The silence of the summer day though was interrupted by the sound of giggles and splashes of water which washes their way through the tree’s.
On the sandy shores surrounding the lake two pegasi played with one another in the midst of the watery world. One with a pale yellow coat and a pink flowing mane which covered most area’s of her frame. Next to her was a cyan coated mare with an electric main proudly showing all colors of the rainbow.
The cyan mare held the other mare tight as they played in the vast lake, she gently leaned down and kissed the mare's neck lightly. The pale yellow mare giggled from the ticklish feeling it brought and turned round to face her.
The yellow mare smiled. “Today’s been great Dashie,” she said in a soft tone but with a clear hint of happiness.
The cyan mare smirked and grabbed the yellow mare forward into a long and deep kiss before saying, “Anything for my marefriend.”
The two continued to laugh and play some more, after a few more moments of fun the pair found themselves lying on the edge of the lake, their arms and wings wrapped around each other as they looked longingly into each others eyes.
Dash spoke up. “You know Fluttershy, I like the time we hang out but… when are we going to tell the others?” she asked curiously looking at the mare she loved. It had been months since Dash had confessed her feelings to her old friend and to her utter joy Fluttershy accepted. The two were perfect for each other in many ways, but in some they did struggle and since the four months that the pair had been together the shy mare had refused to tell anypony about their relationship together.
Fluttershy backed away slightly as she spoke. “I-I don’t know Dashie, just not yet,” she said quietly with a hint of fear in her voice.
Dash gave a slightly annoyed look. “But we’ve been going out for months Flutters, what's wrong?” she asked in a soft and concerned voice as she pushed her marefriend’s mane away from her face making her smile.
After a few tense moments the shy pegasus spoke up again. “W-well I’m just a bit scared,” she said whispering the last part as she lowered her head.
Rainbow Dash sighed and lifted the yellow Pegasus's chin and gave her a soft kiss on her lips as she spoke. “You don’t have to be scared Flutters, you got me and you know our friends wouldn’t mind us being, you know together,” she said calmly.
Fluttershy stopped cowering but was still persistent. “I’m just not sure I mean it’ll take some time, you can wait, right?” she asked in a hopeful tone.
Dash sighed. “No Flutters, I’m sick of having to keep this to ourselves. I’m sick of just giving you half smiles when we go out with our friends. I hate having to kiss you behind everyone's back and I’m not ashamed Fluttershy… I love you and I want everypony else to know it too,” she said poking the light yellow Pegasus in the chest expressing her point.
Fluttershy smiled at her marefriend’s words and leaned down to lock lips with the mare below her. Dash leaned into the kiss as their tongues danced between one another in a wave of ecstasy. Rainbow smiled when the kiss finally ended and looked up to her marefriend who was now lying on her chest content. The cyan mare leaned in and nuzzled her lover's cheek affectionately.
The pair laid in silence for a few more moments before Rainbow spoke up again. “So can we tell our friends?” she asked hesitantly as she caressed her marefriend’s mane with a hoof whilst the other kept a tight hold around her neck.
Fluttershy nodded her head uncomfortably, Dash felt she needed a bit more reassurance and used her athletic strength to switch places with the mare so she was lying on top of the yellow Pegasus. Dash smirked. “You know I’ll always be there for you Flutters, I’m the element of loyalty for Celestia’s sake,” she said nuzzling the mare’s forehead as she let out a soft giggle.
Fluttershy smiled a bit more confidently. “You know what Dashie...I’ll do it,” she said happily. Dash smiled back and the pair shared another kiss before getting up from the ground and getting ready for the flight back to the small earth pony town where they resided.
Dash looked back at the shy Pegasus and gave her an affectionate wink before soaring into the sky. Fluttershy smiled happily before chasing after her marefriend.
The two Pegasi soared through the evening sky as Celestia’s sun started to dip below the horizon bringing an orange glow to the world above Equestria, Dash flew close to the yellow mare as they flew back towards the town where they lived.
Dash leaned over slightly and gave her lover a soft nuzzled as she flew along. Fluttershy smiled at the affection of the cyan mare. From the moment Dash had told her about her feelings the shy Pegasus couldn’t have been happier, but she still feared about what her friends or even the town would think about her relationship with Equestria’s next up and coming flyer. She just hoped it could all be over soon and she could spend time with the mare she loved without going out-of-town to be with her.
As the pair flew through the brisk summer air they finally spotted a familiar town nestled in between a row of hills and mountains, the village was relatively small and wasn’t even built for their kind, however in the years that the they had lived there they had become friends with the whole town and found the place to be relatively humble and nice to live in.
Dash saw her marefriend’s small cottage on the outskirts of the town close to the everfree forest which was to the east of the town. She soared down and landed at the front doorstep of the building as her marefriend landed behind her.
The cottage was old and slightly worn with its thatched roof, but it was very homely and had a luscious garden which surrounded the home with many creatures of all kinds which inhabited it. There was a small river that ran past the house with a colorful bridge and it was a home which was widely regarded by the towns ponies.
Fluttershy walked in front of the cyan mare and opened the door to the home, she turned around and smiled. “Today was great Dashie, I loved it,” she said happily.
Dash smiled in return. “That’s great to hear Flutters, so tomorrow we tell everyone, right?” she asked with a hopeful tone.
Fluttershy smiled nodded happily. “Of course Dashie!”
Dash grinned. “Great, then maybe after tomorrow I can finally spend a night with you,” she said giving the Pegasus a soft kiss on the cheek.
Fluttershy blushed and nodded before the pair leaned in for one final kiss, it felt like forever for the two mares and Dash especially didn’t want it to end but like all great wonders they soon did and Dash turned around to leave. “See you tomorrow Fluttershy, I love you,” she said giving a wink before taking off.
Fluttershy smiled as she watched the mare of her dreams soar into the sky. “I love you too Dash,” she said quietly to herself before trotting into the cottage and closing the door behind her.
Dash sighed as she watched the mare disappear into the home before dashing off towards her floating house in the sky over the small town.
Rainbow's home was the only cloud made home in the small village and gently floated above the town towards the outskirts of the village. Dash was hoping to leave the home soon so she could spend more time with her marefriend, but other complications would have to be met before that could happen.
Rainbow Dash landed on the front porch of the home and pushed her hoof on the cloud door pushing it open. She wandered into the building only to realize a golden letter on the ground. She leaned down and picked up the letter, she turned it around and saw it was addressed to her.
Dash raised an eyebrow at this and tore the top part of the letter revealing its contents, she pulled out the letter and read the words.
Congratulations Mrs. Rainbow Dash, you have passed your training and are now a fully fledged Wonderbolt personnel. welcome to the team.
signed: captain Spitfire
Dash’s eyes widened in shock before she screamed, pumping her hoof in the air. Dash’s pet Tank looked up to see the cyan mare. Dash smiled and picked the tortoise up. “You hear that Tank, I’m gonna be a Wonderbolt!” she said excitedly as she bounced around.
Dash laid on the couch and sighed happily. “Five years I’ve been training and I’ve finally did it!” she said to herself happily. Dash leaned over again and grabbed the note as she read over the letter once more, but then she discovered some writing on the back of the note.
Dash flipped the letter around a read. “All new Wonderbolts will have to meet at the cloudsdale colosseum in four months time, you will then be on tour for the next six months, spend the time with your loved ones well before you leave."
Dash’s smile slowly fell as she thought about what would happen when she told Fluttershy about this, she even questioned herself on this as she thought about coping without her marefriend or even her friends for that period of time.
Dash sighed. “This is going to be a struggle,” she said to herself before closing her eyes and falling asleep with thoughts about the mare she loved…
Both mares knew that the next few days would be struggle, neither of them wanted to lose the one that meant the most to them in life... but with all this would they be able to make the struggles of their bent relationship...

Chapter 2: Complications Start
The warm morning air made it’s way into the small cottage located on the outskirts of ponyville. The home itself was peaceful during this time of morning, as all its animal inhabitants were still fast asleep. Currently lying fast asleep on the bed was Fluttershy who was dreaming happily.
The silience of the room was broken by the the soft sound of fluttering wings. Suddenly from the nearby window in the bedroom a cyan mare appeared.
Dash smiled and hopped into the bedroom. She slowly trotted over to her sleeping marefriend and laid on the bed as she snuggled up against her. Fluttershy started to murmur as she began to waken, she looked behind her to see the cyan and rainbow coloured mare laying by her side with a content smile. Dash leaned over and kissed the yellow mare before speaking, “Hey Flutters, you ready for today?”
Fluttershy nodded with a bit of uncertainty, which Dash had been expecting from the mare. Rainbow placed her hooves on the mare’s sides and gently began to move them around in a casual way as she spoke up, “You know they won't mind Flutters, they’ve been our friends for years now,” she said in an almost calming tone, which was unusual for the normally brash and confident mare.
Fluttershy smiled a bit at the words of her marefriend. “I know Dashie but, I don’t think I’m strong enough to do it all,” she said letting the truth of her fears out into the open.
Dash only smiled a little wider as she put a hoof to her marefriend’s cheek. “No Flutters, you are strong enough. I know you can stand in front of our friends with me when we tell them the truth and stop hiding it from them.”
Fluttershy smiled at Rainbow’s words of confidence, it was one of the many things she’d come to admire about the brash rainbow maned mare. She smiled and nodded in acceptance, which was followed by another deep and passionate kiss.
After a few moments they broke the kiss before Fluttershy spoke, “Would you like me to make you some oatmeal, Dash?”
Rainbow chuckled slightly before kissing the mare on the cheek. “Nah, lets make it together,” she said, grabbing the mare’s hoof with her own as they made their way downstairs and into the kitchen.
It was now midday over Ponyville. A light summer breeze wafted its way over the grassy landscape on the outskirts of the small earth pony town.
On one of the small hills a checked blanket was laid out with all kinds of confectionaries. Beside the blanket sat a lavender unicorn along with a purple dragon. They were currently wandering around the blanket checking off items.
The purple dragon sighed, “Why do we have to check off so many things, Twilight! It's just the weekly picnic,” he complained.
Twilight turned to face the complaining dragon. “I know Spike, but we need to make sure we haven’t forgotten anything,” she said before going back over the items once again.
Spike rolled his eyes and went through the checklist again.
Luckily for the dragon it was only a few moments before everypony started to show up. Applejack was first on the scene followed by Rarity and Pinkie Pie before the arrival of the last of the bearers of harmony, Rainbow and Fluttershy.
Twilight smiled. “Great! Now that everypony’s here, dig in!”
Spike sighed happily, “Finally!” he said before diving into the basket, all the other ponies laughed.
The rest of the afternoon seem to fly by as the six ponies - and dragon - talked about various events and adventures that they each had encountered over the week.
Rainbow wanted to tell the ponies about her relationship and was starting to become more and more anxious by the minute. She kept looking at Fluttershy, trying to tell if she still felt alright with the plan. She could see the shy Pegasus was also becoming nervous with each passing moment. The cyan mare wanted nothing more than to comfort her marefriend at this point, but she was held back by the invisible line of secrets and promises.
Rainbow Dash felt as if she had one last shot to tell the group as the ponies began to die down from their conversations. Rainbow took the moment of silence to speak up, “Guys, I have something I wanna say,” she said, nervously rubbing the back of her neck.
The rest of the ponies turned around to face Dash, the brash pegasus quickly turned to face Fluttershy who was by now cowering away slightly at the thought of what she might say. Dash felt a bead of sweat run down her face as she found herself caught in a mix of emotions.
Finally backing down Rainbow sighed, but she had something else that she wanted to share. “I’m leaving with the Wonderbolts in a few months to be on tour with them for the rest of the year!,” she said happily.
Everypony around the mare gasped in shock, however whilst the other four ponies congratulated Dash and her efforts and giving her comforting smiles she saw that her marefriend was still shocked and was looking at the cyan pegasus with wide eyes.
Soon the sun began to dip towards the horizon all the ponies started to leave to tend to the rest of their duties for the day.
Fluttershy was one of the last ponies to leave. Dash was immediately concerned when she noticed the saddened look on the yellow mares features, and quickly trotted after her as the mare trotted off down a dirt road path.
When the cyan mare caught up to her marefriend they were both out of sight from the rest of the town. Dash took this opportunity and leaned in nuzzling Fluttershy’s neck getting her attention, the mare looked up to the rainbow maned pony.
Dash turned a worried look. “You okay Flutters?” she kindly asked.
Fluttershy lowered her head and mumbled something inaudible to her lover.
Dash was confused. “What was that?” she asked, leaning in so she could hear her marefriend better.
Fluttershy stopped and looked towards Dash.
The yellow mare sighed, “You didn’t tell me you were leaving?” she said dejectedly. Dash could feel her heart swelling as a pang of guilt hit her chest. She leaned in and kissed the mare softly on the lips before replying.“I only found out yesterday and I wouldn’t leave you, you can come to Cloudsdale with me,” Dash said happily, however the reply from the mare was a simple shake of the head.
Fluttershy sighed, “I can’t go with you Dashie, I have to care for all the animals here and help for hearths warming and be here with all my other friends. I can’t just up and leave,” she said with a sad tone.
Dash lowered her head. “I know Flutters it’s just, if we told everypony about our relationship then we could spend more time together, right now we can’t do anything and it will be even more worse when I leave,” Dash said if almost begging for her marefriend to tell the truth to their friends.
Fluttershy again sighed, “I need to think about it,” she said before trotting off in the direction of the cottage.
Dash watched the pegasus leave, a part of her wanted to follow and comfort the pegasus, but she knew that the mare would rather be left to converse over her options. She would visit her later on, but for now she had to clear the skies for the day.
Sighing Dash soared into the sky, she hoped that this mess could be resolved soon.
