Leaf Valley Academy

My hoof landed on the stone path. This was it, no going back, I told myself. Straightening myself, I looked forward. In the far distance laid a building, from what I made up, mostly red in colour. I was anxious and nervous.

Looking behind me, the pair of ponies who brought me here were already gone. Gem Dust who was my uncle and his butler, Light Hoof, were the ponies that brought me up. He started looking after me after my parents died. I never remembered them for I was only a filly when they died, in an accident, that was what he said. To me Gem Dust was my father, he took up the mantle of that when I stopped crying for my parents. When all was said and done, I truly could said that I do miss them. I gulped and slowly trotted down the path, downhill.

The path went up and down. At the last hilltop, I looked down and saw a lush garden. Plants were placed underneath tent-like shelters in black trays, the shelters were organised such that they were in a hollowed square with an entrance and exit at the bottom and top. At the very center was a fountain with a staue of a pony holdng a leaf. This was the crest of the school which I am about to go to. So prestiged was the school that ponies all over Equestria tried to get in, many failed yet some passed. I was one of the few who managed the latter. After trotting past the garden, the building which never seemed so demanding was in sight. Red bricks lined the wall with spaces for the black shuttered windows which every floor had. The roof was made from dark blue clay tiles. However, what drew me in the most was the white quartz pillars that lined the school's entrance. These were intritcately carved with various animals. Not just ponies but monsters too. Insect-like creatures, with buglike wings filled the wall along with their pony counterpart, seemingly fighting againest each other.

I pushed open the giantic wooden doors and walked inside the school. Students were walking everywhere and when they saw me walked in they stared but not for long. I knew I could not possibly just tap on a pony and ask for help, that might not help me in the long run with bullies. So I decided to wonder the halls in search of the headmaster's office. Yet not long after, I felt a tap and turned backwards.

"Babe, you look a little lost, you need help?" The sliver pony asked. Oh no, he was a playcolt! But I needed his help badly.

"Um...do you know where is the headmaster's office?" I asked hesistantly.

"Follow me."

And I did. He brought me down many hallways, up a few stairs and there I was, just outside the headmaster's office. I thanked the sliver stranger and he said welcome before we parted ways. My heart was beating so fast I thought it would explode, I knocked a few times on the door and a gruff voice answered loudly with two words: "COME IN!". After which I wondered what was going to happen before gulping and resigning to my fate.

The room was air-conditioned and a minotaur greeted me with a wry smile. "Was he the headmaster?" I thought, "He can't be a minotaur can he?" He was sitting in a black leather swirly chair. I touched the table, it felt like ebony. After a moment of slience, he coughed and started talking.

"Ah...you must be the new transfer student." He asked, somewhat surprised.

"Uh-ah...is..anything..wr-ong?" I stuttered.

"I was not expecting you, but you are the transfer student, right?"

"Um...yes." I always was very shy with strangers.

"Well here's a map of our school and your schedule."

"Thanks."

"You're welcome, and your homeroom teacher will help you get settled in."

"Okay..."

"Hurry off now, classes are starting."

And with that I found myself kicked out of the headmaster's office. I looked at my schedule and apparently homeroom was first period on the same day, I sighed, more strangers equals to more embrassment. With those thoughts, I hurried to my classroom and took a seat. Apparently, by the start of class, all eyes were on me. The teacher, a Miss Brightflower, told me to introduce myself at the in front of the class, I stood up and trotted up to the front of the classroom.

"Hello everypony, my name is Glitter Wing and I am the transfer student you were talking about. I hope you would take to me and thank you." There, short and sweet, hopefully there is nothing to worry about. At that point in time, I realised half the class, mostly colts were staring at me dreamily. They can't possibly be interested in me! I headed to where the teacher told me to sit. I was sitting next to a mare with an orange coat and red-yellow mane. Realising she caught my attention, she told me her name.

"Hey, I'm Sunset Shimmer."

"Nice to meet you."

After class, I checked my schedule and hers, it seemed that Sunset Shimmer and I both have all the same classes together. We were shocked even more by the fact that we were roommates! Thus, we stuck together, ate together and the day ended with us together as well.

Lying on my bed, we chatted. "Ne, Sunset, can I call you Sunny?" I asked. I really wanted to call her via nickname, not only would it be fun, it was covienient as well.

"Alright, but only if I can call you Glit."

We agreed.

As the sun finally fell, my first day ended as well.

My first day of school at Leaf Valley High, only time would tell how interesting the rest would be.
