And That was the worst of it!
Her long legs trotted lightly on the now gold paved walkways of the underground. How long had she been here? Months? No, probably years. Years sounded about right now that she thought about it. That day was like a fleeting dream, as if her kidnapping had been yesterday or even sooner. But not anymore, Rarity was a full grown mare, body imbedded with jewels and long mane plaited with ribbons of gold. The Diamond Dogs had once been a stupid race, groveling and uncouth and disgusting. Now they were prosperous and many, even in Discorda current reign over the land. Years it took her to escape and in the end she had so little to go back to that she stayed here in the dark. She took it upon herself to designate herself as Queen, a position many were against for a very long time. However once it was clear that in a time of Discord she was the only sanity they had, they soon welcomed her. No one knew the contents of that treaty, but it didn't matter. They had peace.
"Your highness! Any word from the scouts?" The voice was young and gruff, a handsome young hound whose left eye had made friends with someone's claws. He was tall and lean, coat blonde speckled with large brown splotches.
"Nothing yet young one, we both know any sort of danger outside of Canterlot and Ponyville is out of Discords hands..." She sounded dissapointed, like someone had let her down ages ago. Sighing she turned to the Hound and walked past him, her tail flicking once to make the jewels inlaid jingle gently. She would sent out another telegram, pray to Celestia everything was fine and then go relax in her personal quarters. As she walked down the hall the dim light was christen with sunshine from above. Her white coat shone like diamonds, each gem that had been inlaid to her coat glistening with each step, her mane shimmering bright like opals. As she passed open doorways and little rooms for eating lunches she smiled, this was all hers. Every last thing in her was her kingdom, the Element in her chest ensured it. A last line of hope in a world of darkne-
"Princess Rarity! Your blessing is requested in maternity ward A!" A different hound, poodle-like and well groomed in scrubs.
"But of course!! Lead the way Stafani!" She followed in her regal pace, her head held high and her hooves pounding the floor with a fast rythm. As she was lead into the ward she was presented with four puppies, each one blessed with the very tip of her horn. " I give each puppy a gift, make sure they keep it well and safe. Unicorn blessings are a rarity these days..." She looked almost pensive and sad for a second, her smile returning with the fathers quiet crying thanks. Nodding she dissapeared again from the room. Sighing she gave a deep thought and winked to her room.
Winking...that was a talent Twilight once did. It took Rarity years to figure it out, but alas she had grasped the concept of such a thing. As her decorated hooves brought her to her bed she collapsed sideways and looked up at a far wall. Her brain began to wonder, thinking back on several things at once. Like how many Colts had come in through here, or how many Hounds even. Rarity was known for her playfullness, but this kingdom wasn't once without kings. It had had exactly three prior, an Alicorn Prince from afar, a Diamond Dog who fought a rather disasterous beast for her hand, and another Colt who had braved the now raging forest above for a chance to see the Legendary Mare of the Woods. Children had been born within these walls as well, half breeds and mythic beasts whose parents had satisfied Rarity's own curiosity. The prize of these children was an egg that lay high upon it's own pedastal. It had once been full of life, Discord however found it hilarious to petrify it's contents. No one had ever seen what a dragon/ pony crossbreed looked like, and judging by how much freedom spike ever got no one probably would. A knock pulled her brain away from such deep thoughts...
"My Queen...Young Dashing Star has returned from his journey!" Rarity didn't wait for the royal procession, her body wrapping itself around the figure of her son. She nuzzled him and genty bit at his mane, a kiss quickly gifting his forehead. He was not inlike his father, at least i. Species. He was an Alicorn, his coat was white as his mothers and his mane a deep cobalt with streaks of a lighter blue. Spreading his wings momentarily he looked down at the floor. " I have found the last of Rainbow Dash, all I could salvage was this..." He levitated from his bags a necklace with a golden outlay, a single red lightning bolt gem in the center. He watched as his mother turned her head, hid expression confused.
"Mother...I don't understand? Why do you frown so...you said that there were other ponies with gens as bright as yours?! I thought you wanted the gems for your collection."
"Sweety...theres a lot more to these then gems...once you rest up, i shall explain to you more about them...and the blue gen you brought me as well..."
She left his presence, the gem floating before her like some kind of guilty reminder. With a heavy sigh and a heavy swing of her doors she hung it up on the mantlepiece of her room. It sat there besides a second mangled necklace, a blue ballon shaped gem. A heavy feeling hung in her chest, a single tear running down," oh Dashi...whatever has discord done to you...to all of us..." And with that she collapsed to her knees, her head curled up as she lit the fire underneath. Maybe the warmth would help...or maybe not.
