She had already entered it once before, leading to an adventure involving Sunset Shimmer and an alternate universe in which Everypony she knew were human. She had come back by now, and was now preparing to enter the portal again. Twilight wasn't sure why Princess Celestia told her to do this, but she was aware that this time, she would be entering another alternate universe, different from the last one. She also knew she wasn't going alone, as she was instructed to bring Spike and two of her friends. Celestia strangely insisted that half of the elements stay in Equestria. After much consideration, she asked Applejack and Rainbow Dash to come along. They both accepted the offer. One of the castle guards was standing by the portal. "To make sure Everypony ends up in the same universe, I will ask you to enter together on the count of--" his voice was cut off by the sound of hooves galloping into the portal. * * * The group stumbled out of the portal, trying to get used to the sudden change in both scenery and their new selves. This was the first time that Applejack and Rainbow Dash had become humans themselves, and it took a while for them to get used to walking on two feet. Twilight had less difficulty and was now trying to figure out where she was, while Spike jumped around in his canine form. "I could seriously use a set of wings right now," thought Rainbow Dash, looking up at the sky, envious of a passing plane. Meanwhile Applejack was reading a sign with minor difficulty: "Welcome...to Reef-side, Cali-for-nia. Where in tarnation is that?" Twilight's face brightened up. "California, that's in the U.S.A.!" "Say what now?" Applejack asked. "I've read about this place. There was a book about it in the library back in Ponyville. Long ago, some human children went through a similar portal to this one to help the ponies. They lived in the U.S.A. and became acquaintances with Firefly, a famous pegasus." Suddenly, Spike called out to the others, "Look over here!" He was looking at three small gemstones, one for each of the primary colours. "Rarity would love those! Can we bring them home for souveniers?" Twilight picked up the gems. "I don't see why not," she replied, placing them in her saddlebag, which had changed into a backpack. The next few hours were spent wandering around Reefside. They stopped at various attractions and had a bite to eat before checking into a hotel. As they unpacked, Twilight reached in her backpack for a scroll which was given to her by the princess. The scroll read: Dear Twilight Sparkle, Please forgive me for being so unspecific, but lately the royal duties have been piling up fast. I have given you a small pack, if you remember, that you had to keep safe and not open until you and your friends have found a place to stay. Inside, I have packed three 'morphers,' one for you, one for Applejack, and one for Rainbow Dash. Each should be labelled with the corresponding name. After, you must find three gems, one red, one blue, and one yellow. The gems should be able to fit into each of the morphers. Then each of you must wear the morphers as you would a watch or bracelet. From there, I am sure a clever student like you will figure out what to do next. Twilight, there is a dangerous group of villains that are planning to use the power of ancient dinosaurs to take over the universe you have been taken to, as well as crush Ponyville. These morphers will help you and your friends stop them. Good Luck, Sincerely, Princess Celestia Twilight now reached again into her backpack, pulling out the package. Opening it up, she revealed the morphers, which resembled dinosaur heads, each either red, blue, or yellow. At the back were the names of the people which they were addressed to. She then remembered the gems which Spike had found earlier and inserted them within the morphers. After, she picked up the red morpher and put it on. She felt a wave of energy run through her, coming from her wrist. Or was it from the morpher itself? Rainbow Dash stared at the television in boredom, practicing using her fingers with the remote. "There's literally nothing but this talking newsperson guy on T.V., or people selling stuff." Suddenly her eyes widened in interest. "Hey, this seems cool. Check out these guys!" Applejack, Twilight and Spike rushed towards the T.V., which was now showing some kind of action movie--or was it part of a series? There were three full-grown humans in colour-coded suits with matching helmets. Each different person imitated a different dinosaur. The small team seemed to be protecting the citizens from evil henchmen of some sort. A few moments later, the three humans are shown congratulating themselves in the presence of their teacher and mentor, a Dr. Tommy Oliver (who, in some characteristics, reminded Twilight of Princess Celestia). The trio are shown to actually be average teenagers, now wearing average human clothing, but still the same colours. But what caught Twilight's eye the most was what the three humans wore on their wrists. She glanced at her morpher with curiosity. Wondering about what Twilight and her friends were expected to do themselves, she felt lucky that she chose Applejack and Rainbow Dash to come along. She show soon ended, and Spike now confessed, "I am really tired right about now. Can we order dinner and get to sleep?" Despite the fact that all of his companions weren't sleepy yet, they did admit that they were hungry after unpacking and not eating for the past few hours. "Well, nopony's goin' to be orderin' from this hotel while this room has a kitchen and ah got fresh apples packed," Applejack commented, opening a backpack full of cinnamon, pie crusts, and dozens of apples. "Now where's that fridge ah've heard so much about? These apples won't stay like this for long! And who's up for some apple pie?" Everyone else in the room nodded enthusiastically. Author's Note My first chapter of this story. Sort of like a prologue. I am hoping for an editor or prereader if possible. Chapter TwoRainbow Dash groaned miserably as the teacher talked, recalling how she ended up in highschool in the first place as she eyed the clock up on the wall. Twilight suggested that in order to seem more like average human teenagers; they would have to go to school. She dragged them all to the closest shopping center for school supplies before they got to school. They were introduced to classes, computers, and calculators. Applejack hated the last two items, being a typical farm pony herself. There were only two things that Rainbow even thought for a moment to enjoy: Phys. Ed. class and the break times between classes. She soon found her love of a sport called soccer, and she happened to be very good at playing the game too. Sadly, the joy was broken within seconds of the boring theme of in-class work. The clock was ticking. Other students also looked up at it, but not with as much impatience as Rainbow Dash herself. Her teeth were chattering... Tick, Tock... Sweat poured down from her forehead... Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock... Her eyes were open wide... RRRRIIIIIIINNNNG! Rainbow Dash bolted out of her seat and towards the door, now open as wide as it could. Within less than a minute, she was outside and breathing in the fresh air. She gazed above, imagining she was among the clouds and birds, flying over the buildings and people and dinosaurs... "Wait a minute…" realized Dash.”What are dinosaurs doing here?" Her friends had caught up with her by now. Twilight watched in fear as the large beasts stomped toward them, remembering Princess Celestia's letter. She signalled to her friends to follow her into a small forest area not too far from the school. After a few long minutes of sprinting, the trio had reached a cave with an entrance to small for the beasts to enter. Twilight then opened up her backpack. "Girls, I have to tell you something. Something about the mission," she began, pulling out the morphers. She even pulled off the one on her wrist. "Those monsters are trying to take over Reefside, if not the entire Earth. Then they want to conquer Equestria too." Applejack peeked out of the cave. "What do you mean by 'they want to'? They don't seem to have much of a mind of their own, by the looks of it. Sure there isn't anyone bossing them around?" Twilight ignored the question for the moment as she was still trying to make sense of what parts of the morphers went together. So far, it looked like Twilight would represent the triceratops; Rainbow Dash would represent a pterodactyl, and Applejack a tyrannosaurus. What she didn't understand was the colour jewel in which to put each one in. "These look like the morphers from the show," commented Dash. "Did you try using the colour pattern they used?" "Actually, I don't think so," Twilight replied with curiosity. "I assumed that yellow would not work for your morpher." She followed her advice. Then she handed each person their morpher. "I hope this works." The trio now ran back outside. The monsters were headed for the school. Students and teachers alike were screaming and running. From a mixture of voices, a conversation could be heard: "Where are the Dino Thunder rangers?" "Didn't you hear?" "They've went to help fight against some aliens, far away from here." "Someone call for help!" Twilight looked at her friends in worry. "I don't know what to do! What do I say?" Applejack looked just as confused. Suddenly, Rainbow Dash jumped up. "Never fear! Your trusty neighborhood Rainbow Dash is here!" With those words, she stood up straight and covered her morpher, which was at her side. "Dino thunder, power up!" she yelled, shifting her arm forward. "Ha!" She suddenly appeared to be near a large volcano. Her clothes became one big, white suit with a golden emblem of a dinosaur's footstep on the chest. She jumped down onto lower ground as her suit turned yellow and wings sprouted from under her arms. She stood up straight as a matching yellow helmet materialized around her head. She flapped her wings a bit as the volcanic scene turned back to normal. After a brief moment of awe, Twilight and Applejack followed her lead. Twilight now saw herself dressed in blue, and Applejack in red. "Good thing we had T.V. to watch last night," Dash commented "And I can fly again!" "No time to start gloatin'," replied Applejack, running with immense speed towards a large green dinosaur about to stomp on a young toddler. She kicked it away as if the dinosaur's leg was just an apple tree. At once, the dinosaur ran away in fear. Meanwhile, Twilight was running into a group of small dinosaurs surrounding an old woman. Despite the large number of animals, she actually did pretty well in fending off a few of the beasts with her walking stick and purse. As the herd of beasts started to move in, Twilight quickly calculated the perfect angle to scare them off while making sure the elderly citizen didn't get hurt. Within seconds, more dinosaurs were running away from the town. Up in the sky, Rainbow Dash was giving some of the dinosaurs a migraine. She flew as fast as she could (which was pretty fast, of course) around their heads, taunting them all the while. Those dinosaurs ended up falling down in dizziness on the empty soccer field. The last of these dinosaurs were rounded up by all three of the rangers and led away from the city. "I think ah'm almost ready to hit the hay for a bit," yawned Applejack with a hint of sarcasm, as she was almost never actually tired. "Hmm, strange," Thought Twilight. "I thought there would be more to do." "Well, maybe we'll have more action happening around here soon," thought Dash. "Power Down." While nobody was looking, she had changed back from her new alter-ego. The others followed. Then they walked back to the hotel. As they opened the door, they were greeted by Spike the dog, who now looked like he was choking. He finally managed to spit out a scroll, marked with Princess Celestia's seal. Then he promptly went to sleep in exhaustion. Twilight opened the letter. All she could say was, "Oh, my..." Chapter ThreeTwilight had now opened the letter. It read: Dear Twilight Sparkle, I am very concerned about the health of Spikey-wikey. Is he doing alright? He forgot to pick up the extra gems I had sent for him, and they’re still there! Luckily, it seemed that you forgot to clean up your workspace and I managed to send the letter via magic to let you know about the gems. If only I could have sent the gems the same way! So, where in Equestria are you? I messed up my beautiful indigo-violet mane just to go all the way to Canterlot to find out where you were! And Sweetie's friends have been complaining that their sisters have been missing as well! Wait, I don't think Scootaloo and Dash are related, are they? Please come back soon, because at this rate I am worried my new fashions will outgrow you if you grow to alicorn size! And by the way, if you find some sapphires, can you please send them over? Sincerely, Rarity Twilight felt exasperated. "Didn't she know that Spike can't handle these kinds of letters when he's a puppy? I thought I specified to send the messages through the portal in the letters I sent to the other elements. Applejack, didn't you send those letters?" Applejack gulped. "Honestly, Twi', I was in a rush, so I gave the letters to Rainbow Dash." All eyes were on Rainbow Dash. "I sent the letters to Pinkie and Fluttershy, but Rarity wasn't home. So I gave her letter to Sweetie Belle." Twilight rolled her eyes. Dash might be the element of loyalty, but she lacked patience, or the ability to take her time to notice that Rarity had a mailbox. At the same time, she wasn't to blame. "Change o' topic," Applejack said, beginning to retell the events of the day to Spike, who had now managed to get back up and regain his health. Spike's eyelids drooped down sleepily as Twilight described all the new, "intriguingly interesting" things she learned in class. Then, as Dash detailed every minute of recess, Spike found himself feeling very dizzy. Then Applejack finally told of their first experience as power rangers, to which Spike opened his eyes and mouth wide in amazement. "What do we do now?" wondered Dash aloud. "I mean, I seriously hate the fact that those huge things attempted to rampage the town and all that, but I kinda wish they came back." Rainbow Dash paused and stood up, pretending to prepare for a wrestling match as she did in front of Discord back in the maze in Equestria, as she said "I want to kick some more of those dinos until they run away screaming!" The others grinned slightly as Rainbow Dash mimed being a superhero, when Twilight spoke up. "Well, something is telling me that we'll be seeing them again soon." With that, she zipped open her heavy backpack and eagerly opened her textbooks on the desk facing the window. Rainbow Dash, however, immediately jumped to bed and began to sleep. * * * The next morning, Rainbow Dash woke up to the sound Applejack preparing a quick breakfast. Within minutes, Dash joined her in eating up toast with apple jam, washed down with apple juice. "Y'know," Applejack began, her face as green as her grandmother's, "I just realized that my human self can't stand havin' apples in ev'ry meal. Ain't that awful?" Rainbow Dash looked at her watch. "Well I think what's worse is that we have to head to school soon." she replied, turning her head towards Twilight, who was fast asleep. "Why isn't Twilight awake yet?" "Twi' was so busy with homework, I guess she forgot about sleepin' until after everyone else," Applejack answered. "We better wake her up." Applejack and Rainbow Dash tried nearly everything they could, from kicking the bed to trying to whisper "Wake up" in her ear. Spike even attempted to bark as loud as he could to wake her up. Rainbow simply stared at Spike, who was out of breath in three minutes, yet with no success. Finally, she said, "Spike, try louder, like this." Then she screamed at the top (if not over) her lungs. Immediately, Twilight shot up out of bed, and everyone was covering their ears with their teeth gritted and eyes tightly shut. Barely a second later, Dash asked herself "How did I do that?" Twilight tried to think of a possible explanation when Spike spoke up. "Hold on, I think that Dino Thunder show was on yesterday while you were all gone. All the rangers seemed to be using superpowers in the theme song." "Did the other rangers get any nifty superpowers too?" Applejack asked. Spike thought for a moment. "I think, but I can't be sure. The video clips for the theme song went very fast. After all, how am I supposed to remember? You're the rangers, not me!" The rangers looked at one another before Twilight glanced at her watch. “Oh my, I'm going to be late for school!" she worried, scrambling toward her backpack. * * * The next six hours were, again, rather uneventful. It wasn't until after school that Rainbow Dash had bumped into Applejack with exciting news. "The soccer practices start today, and they said I might join the team!" she announced joyfully. "Go find Twilight and meet me at the soccer field, because you won't want to miss this!" Applejack agreed to be there and immediately went to find Twilight. Despite still being unfamiliar with the school hallways, she seemed to find herself navigating the school much faster than usual, finding Twilight within barely a couple of minutes. "Applejack, you really shouldn't run in the hallways," said Twilight upon noticing her friend. "What's with the rush?" "Rainbow Dash is waitin' at the soccer field. Somethin' about practices," Applejack replied. "Oh! I'll be right there!" "It seems nearly everypony--I mean everybody-- else is already outside, Twi'." "Good thing too." Applejack looked puzzled. "Why do you say that?" she asked. Twilight answered, "Because running in the hallways is against the school rules. Sorry, A.J. But you did go pretty fast. Hearing your footsteps was like being in a movie going fast-forward." Despite the fact that Applejack had no idea what her friend meant by movies speeding around, realization dawned on her that she was the second of their team to discover her superpower. * * * The crowd was slightly larger than usual, considering that what they came to see seemed to be an ordinary soccer practice. It turned out that the team had gotten a sudden and slight growth in popularity, however. Twilight and Applejack managed to find a space near the edge of the field soon after arriving to the field, before spotting Rainbow Dash on the field. Dash was practicing some simple soccer drills with some of the other team members, specifically practicing shooting the ball into one of the large nets at either side. Within about 15 minutes, the coach blew his whistle to call the team to attention. "Team, I have good news and bad news," he announced to the soccer team and the audience. "The good news is that we finally have enough players to have a chance at winning the soccer tournament this year." There were many cheers coming from on the field and where the spectators sat, as the school seemed to have very little chance of winning for the past 5 years. The coach looked around with a grim face. "The bad news is that our best player, Sam Field, has a broken ankle, and won't be able to play for the rest of the season." The crowd now made many noises of disapproval, from booing to concerned comments, and then finally a heated argument from a small amount of students sitting right behind Twilight and Applejack. "How can this happen?" one of them asked angrily. He was very muscular, and seemed like the very person not to mess with. "Calm down, for crying out loud!" another yelled. "Haven't you seen that new kid with the rainbow hair? She's awesome!" "She's a wimp! Look at how tiny she is!" "You make fun of the team, you're disgracing the school!" "So what?! She's still a shrimp!" At this rate, Dash was getting angry herself. "Who are you calling a shrimp?" She asked the bully, with a very similar tone that she once used long ago while defending Fluttershy. Twilight and Applejack sat there in embarrassment, blushing to the extent that one would think their faces were freezing. They were literally sitting in the middle of an argument. "Dash, please, ignore them." Twilight pleaded, watching the muscular person behind her make fists with his hands. Unfortunately, the bully just stared straight at Twilight. "So, you're friends with this shrimp? Seriously?" He grinned maliciously. "Well, then, since you are already right in front of me, and I haven't got a chance to beat anyone up for the last few hours..." he stopped speaking, and looked around at his large audience. The coach was, conveniently, speaking to someone on her cell phone with her back turned. He looked back at Twilight. PUNCH! He wasted no second in giving her a punch in the face before slamming her to the field. Applejack couldn't do much, as physical fighting was strictly against the rules. To her, honesty and integrity were very much similar. The best she could do was break her friend's fall. Unfortunately, Applejack was caught off-guard and tripped over the seats. Now, they both fell all the way down to the field, smashing into Dash, who smashed into some other soccer players, who smashed into the coach. The coach rose from the ground, looking around to see what happened. The other students also got back up, and started to explain the whole incident. They made it to the part when Twilight got punched in the face, when Applejack spoke to Twilight. "Twi', you alright?" "That was a pretty hard hit," Dash added, seeing Twilight bent over and looking the other way, towards the bully. Applejack and Dash were confused. "Are you alright?" she repeated, with a more confused tone. She looked over to see Twilight's expression. She and Dash noticed that Twilight wasn't crying at all, nor frowning. Rather, she had a slightly amused face on her, and there was no sign of blood or bruises at all. They followed Twilight's gaze to the bully, who was screaming in pain. "I guess I might have found out my superpower," Twilight said to her friends, in a low volume so that only they could hear. "Only Applejack has to find out what her power is now." commented Rainbow Dash. "Already did," Applejack answered. "Super speed." Dash looked at her friend with a bit of jealousy, before telling her "I'm sure I'd still be faster than you would." Twilight rolled her eyes. "Let's just forget about arguing over superpowers, and be lucky we have them. Plus, look over there." She pointed to a group of dinosaur minions marching straight for the field. Chapter Four: What's Happening Back in Equestria?The crowd of spectators fled from the field as the dinosaur minions entered from the other side of the field. "We need to lead these monsters away from the people!" Applejack told Twilight and Rainbow Dash. "The people seem to be safely off the field now," Twilight commented. "We just need to make sure that none of the monsters get to them!" Dash held her morpher out in front of her. "I guess it's morphing time then!" Applejack and Twilight held their morphers out as well. In unison, the team yelled "Dino thunder, power up!" Within seconds they were in their ranger forms. Twilight turned to the red ranger. "You're the leader, A.J., so do you have any plan?" Applejack nodded. "Round up the dinos in the field, an' don't let 'em run towards town!" the blue and yellow rangers responded accordingly. Dash flew upwards while Twilight and Applejack ran for a rope. Dash circled the large number of dinosaurs, keeping them as far from the civilians as possible. Applejack and Twilight soon arrived, running around the dinosaurs with a long rope in their hands to tie up the dinosaurs' legs. The monsters fell down as they tried to escape. "How are we going to get them out of the stadium?" Dash asked. "We can't leave them in here in the middle of soccer season!" "It's too risky to take 'em out of the field right now. They might escape!" Applejack answered. "If only there was a portal or something that would just fall out of the sky--"Twilight was interrupted in her loud train of thought by the sound of a THUD right behind her. The rangers turned to see yet another ranger, dressed in black. He stood beside three motorcycles and in front of a purple portal. "Connor? Ethan? Why are you wearing skirts?" was the first thing he said. "I mean, how did you all get here?" Dash looked at her friends and at the stranger, then to the three motorbikes that he brought with him. "Are those for us?" she asked. "Of course, Kira!" the stranger answered. "Don't you remember? About 5 years ago?" It was now Applejack's turn to speak. "Who are you? Because you sound like a mighty--" before she could say "familiar" the stranger answered: "Yeah, Mighty Morphin! I sound like a Mighty Morphin ranger because I am!" Suddenly, a head peeked out of the portal, who looked as familiar as the stranger's voice sounded. "Mr. Oliver? Who are you talking to?" the head asked. "Connor?" The stranger asked, looking from the person peeking through the portal to the rangers that stood before him. * * * Flash Sentry ran into the throne room of the castle, stopping breathlessly in front of Princess Luna. "Luna! Half-Mane 3 storming castle!" Before Luna could interpret what Flash meant, three ponies catapulted in the room from the window. They landed headfirst on the polished floor. Pinkie was the first of the three to pop up on to her feet, followed by Rarity, who was trying to fix her tangled mane, and Fluttershy, who mumbled a feeble "sorry" as she turned her head to the smashed window. Rarity stormed up to Princess Luna, gesturing for the others to follow her. She took a deep breath and began to speak. "Princess Luna, I request to see Princess Celestia on an important manner." Luna looked down at the three mares, surprised. "MY DEAR SISTER IS--" She lowered her voice at the sight of the shy, trembling pegasus. "My apologies. My dear sister is quite busy right now. She has barely gotten any sleep." Pinkie caught the chance to interrupt, asking "Why does she need sleep? She's been working for over 1000 years nonstop!" "I meant resting. She's getting old, you see, and--" "Alicorns don't get old!" "AARGH!!" Luna couldn't take it anymore. "We're playing pirates now? Well, Luna a pirate sounds more like an AAARRRR, not ARG, silly!" Luna smacked her head on her hoof multiple times in rage. "JUST....STATE...YOUR PROBLEM," Luna shouted above even the royal volume. Rarity looked up at the Princess. "Spike, Twilight, Applejack, and Rainbow Dash have gone missing. Sweetie had just remembered to give me the letter, but there were no explicit details of what they were doing. Or why the rest of us couldn’t come." Luna's pupils decreased in size. She knew most of the answers to these questions to at least some extent, but Celestia told her to keep it secret. She looked at the mares, sweat pouring down her face. "I know nothing about this." Pinkie's mouth burst open. "Then let us go and see Celestia!" "No!" Luna shook her front hooves wildly. "Just keep quiet about the whole thing! Please! That's a royal decree!" But her voice was drowned out by the sounds of hoofsteps running though the hall clearly marked "Royal Sister's Rooms". Luna facehoofed. Celestia stood over a desk with a television and a few tools and gizmos, trying to fix the large blue solar panels which sat above the television screen. She was interrupted by a familiar accented voice. "Princess Celestia? There is a serious situation in Ponyville. Would you mind if we interrupted?" Celestia rolled her eyes and put on her most royal princess face before turning to Rarity, who stood just within the room's entrance with Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy on either side. "Save your breath, my little ponies, I could hear you in the throne room from here." "Were we really that loud?" Pinkie asked, one eyebrow raised in confusion. Celestia looked at where the old and worn out hoof-made phone from her childhood hid. She and Luna used to use it to communicate whenever they were grounded as kids, and they were too busy to take the device out once they were old enough to get caught up in royal politics. It still had its uses. To avoid an exploited secret on the castle safety measures, Celestia lied, "Alicorns have an extremely clear sense of hearing." The mares shrugged their suspicions off. "So you know where our friends are?" Rarity asked. Celestia walked over to the ponies, guiding them with her out the door and into the hallway. "As a matter of fact, I do know. Remember that portal Twilight went through?" "While following Sunset Shimmer?" Fluttershy asked meekly. "I think so." The other fillies nodded in agreement. Celestia turned a corner in the hallway. "She left through the portal again. For a royal mission.With Applejack, Rainbow Dash, and Spike. I believe she added that to your letters." "But why are they going without us?" Pinkie asked. "Because of two reasons. First of all, I requested she picked only two of her friends so that half of the element bearers could stay here." "But the tree has the elements!" Pinkie blurted out. "Don't they?" "Yes, but you fillies are excellent at stopping threats--" "When we work together, that is," Rarity rebutted. "All six of us." Celestia stopped in her tracks. "Are you sure you mares will be fine with going through the portal and going up against various dinosaurs willing to eat human flesh?" Rarity nodded in determination, followed by Pinkie Pie's joyful hops and another quick nod. Even Fluttershy had seemed to gain a bit of bravery. "Are they as bad as dragons?" she asked the princess. "More or less," Celestia replied. "Don't worry; you don't have to physically fight them if you don't want to. There are many other ways to help." Fluttershy took a sigh of relief. "I can still go, right?" she asked. "Of course. But I suggest that we make arrangements for this rather than just entering the portal. I don't want too many ponies getting all worried over the dinosaurs before they even have a chance to get here," Celestia advised. She then revealed two small devices from under her wing, which each had the look of a dinosaur of some sort. It also had a round strap at the back that may be to keep the device on a thin hoof-leg, from what the mares thought. "These will also be of great help in your mission." The devices transferred into the careful magical grip of Rarity before being placed in a blue, jeweled saddlebag. The three friends thanked Princess Celestia before Rarity hurried towards the castle exit, which was now not too far. "Quick, now, I have a lot of packing to do for this! And the next train to Ponyville leaves in just a moment!" she called to her friends. Chapter Five: More Humanized Ponies!Meanwhile, in Reefside, Twilight Sparkle was just about to unlock the door to the Oliver residence. "It was nice of Mr. Oliver to let us stay here for a while," she thought aloud, heard clearly by Spike now that she was unmorphed and the ranger helmet did not cover her head. "Now we don't have to keep paying the rent in that hotel." The sound of a fast vehicle followed. Twilight turned around to see the brand-new motorbikes that Tommy Oliver had also gave them. The red and yellow ones were currently driven by Applejack and Rainbow Dash. The blue bike meant for Twilight was already in the driveway, but Applejack and Rainbow Dash had decided to race each other a few times. Since they had not unmorphed yet, they had a slight resemblance to some stunt-bike riders. Twilight checked her watch. "Get inside, it's getting late!" she called to her friends. Within an hour, everyone was inside and had unpacked. "Anypony--er, anyone, I mean-- hungry for some apple slices?" Twilight looked at her friend in confusion. "AJ, you were greener than Granny Smith after eating the leftovers of that apple pie. Are you sure you want more apples?" Applejack's face became stern as she pushed an apple cutter on an apple, cutting it into multiple slices. "Twi', you know we Apples eat nothin' but apples." She took a bite out of one of the apple slices, resuming her speech before she was completely finished chewing. "I highly doubt they would be the cause of--" she stopped speaking abruptly and put one hand to her face, bending forward and running to the kitchen sink. After a few seconds of vomiting, Applejack lifted her head and wiped her mouth. "Pesticides," she muttered. "We'll get some good ol' organic apples next time." Suddenly, Spike scurried into the kitchen. "Applejack, Twilight, you have to see what Rainbow Dash and I found!" he barked, running around in circles with excitement before heading back out of the kitchen. Twilight and Applejack followed. * * * Not long after, Spike had reached the old headquarters of the Dino Thunder rangers. It looked much like it did in the show, except Rainbow Dash was already there. Behind her was a strange portal. Twilight and Applejack took a closer look at the portal. "Why, that looks mighty familiar." Applejack thought aloud. Soon after, a girl dressed in pink fell out of the portal, followed by two more, who were then followed by a large suitcase and a fluffy, white cat. The girl dressed in pink jumped up first, taking a quick look at her surroundings. Upon seeing the three new rangers, her face brightened (which was almost impossible, considering how excited she looked beforehand). "Twilight, Applejack, Rainbow Dash! I'm so happy to see you!" she exclaimed. "It's me, Pinkie!" She looked at her hands and her shoe-covered feet. "Wow, humans look a lot different compared to ponies," she remarked. "We were so worried about you," said Fluttershy, getting up cautiously and looking at the surroundings. "Where are we?" she asked. "This is the house of Dr. Tommy Oliver," Twilight answered with a smile. "He's a famous Power Ranger, and he let us stay here during the next little while." Her smile started to fade as she realized that she wasn't sure exactly how long she and her friends would be in Reefside. "Pardon me, Twilight, but Celestia said these little devices would be of some assistance," said Rarity as she pulled out two morphers from her saddlebag, which had become an elegant purse. Applejack, Rainbow Dash, and Twilight took a step closer to examine what Rarity was holding. "New morphers!" Dash exclaimed. "But wait," she frowned. "There's six of us, so who gets the morphers?" "Definitely ain't us three," answered Applejack, holding up her morpher and gesturing to Twilight and Rainbow Dash, who held up their morphers as well. "Not mine," Fluttershy added. "Well, maybe it is, but Celestia said I didn't have to be a ranger if I didn't want to." "We better put them somewhere same for now, until we're sure about which morpher belongs to whom," suggested Twilight. Rarity handed the morphers to Twilight, but her fingers fumbled and she dropped the black ranger morpher. "I got it!" barked Spike, running under the morpher and letting it land onto his back. Applejack bent over to pick it up, noticing a stranger connection between the diameter of the wrist of the morpher and Spike's front legs. "Twi', could you come see this?" asked Applejack. Twilight bent down to see what Applejack was pointing at and nodded. "Spike, how would you like to demonstrate how a morpher works?" she asked Spike. "Uh, sure," Spike answered, confusion in his voice. He slipped the morpher onto his front leg. "But I don't see why you guys can't just show them." He jumped onto his back legs, hopping slightly as he tried to stay up. He also added, "This doesn't look exactly like any of the morphers from the show." He looked up at the Mane Six. "So, all I have to do is say 'Dino thunder, power up,' and--" he abruptly stopped speaking as soon as he realized that he was morphing into the black ranger. "That morpher worked for Spike!"Pinkie Pie remarked. "Who would have known those could work on dogs." Spike stared at himself in amazement, now as tall as an adult human and able to switch between standing on two and four legs with more ease. "I feel like that talking dog ranger from SPD. And I like it!" As the Mane Six looked at each other with confusion upon hearing the 'talking dog ranger' remark from Spike, Twilight held the white ranger morpher in her hands, examining it carefully. "We still need to figure out who this white ranger morpher belongs to," she said. "I'll find a place to put this. Then we can all have some dinner." Chapter Six: We Weren't Aware of ThisApplejack was up fairly early the next morning. This wasn't unusual for her, coming from an apple farm. She headed for the kitchen and began to make breakfast. It didn't take long for her to notice that the oven was filled with cupcakes. "Pinkie, what in tarnation are you bakin' cupcakes for?" Applejack asked, trying to find Pinkie. "Because I want to see if cupcakes taste the same here as they do in Equestria!" Pinkie answered with a large grin as she appeared from behind the kitchen table. "Really?" Applejack asked in a tone that told Pinkie she was expecting a more reasonable answer. Pinkie sighed. "Well, actually I wanted to have a little party since we're all here," Pinkie explained. "It's been a long time since all six of us have had a party--seven if you include Spike. Come to think of it, you've been gone pretty long. We were starting to miss you all." Applejack smiled. "It was mighty nice of Princess Celestia to let y'all come here." Pinkie Pie nodded in agreement as she began to take the cupcakes out of the oven. "So, Applejack, why did Princess Celestia bring you four to Reefside?" Applejack just stood there for a moment, realizing that Celestia had not told them exactly why they were here. "Well, she gave us these little morphin' items," Applejack began to answer, showing Pinkie her morpher. "But she never really told us what the danger was. So far, we just saw a few weird monsters." "Weird monsters?" Pinkie wondered. "Yeah. They kind of look like reptiles, but they walk just like humans." "Like the ones on T.V.?" "Yeah, like the ones on--wait, what?!" Applejack turned to see that Pinkie had left towards the living room. Pinkie was staring at the television, which was on the news channel. "...witnesses say that reptilian creatures were spotted near a local highschool here in Reefside, California," the reporter announced. "However, they were soon removed from the school grounds by the Dino Rangers, who haven't been seen in Reefside for years." Beside the reporter was footage of the rangers dealing with the monsters. "They didn't show us becoming rangers, did they?" Applejack asked anxiously. "Nope," Pinkie replied. Applejack sighed in relief. "We better finish making those cupcakes, don't you think so?" Pinkie asked her, turning off the T.V. and heading back to the kitchen. * * * It was 8:00 the next day when the Mane Six arrived at Reefside Highschool. Fluttershy looked at her surroundings timidly. "There sure are a lot of students here," she commented. "Something wrong, Fluttershy?" Rarity asked. "You sound quieter than usual." "I'm just worried about Spike," she explained. "Was it a good idea to leave him alone at home?" "Relax, Fluttershy. Spike can handle it," Rainbow Dash said. She looked ahead and frowned. "Uh-oh, It's the guy from soccer practice." Heading toward Twilight and her friends was the bully that they had encountered during Rainbow Dash's last soccer practice. Following him were two other students who looked nearly as menacing as their leader. A large bandage was wrapped around the bully's hand, which he held in front of Twilight's face. "Look at what you did, weirdo!" Twilight looked at the hand in front of her, then to the bully's face, then back to the hand. "What did I do?" She asked, confused. "You hit my hand with your head!" He exclaimed, boiling in anger. "If I recall correctly, you were the one who tried to hurt Twilight. You punched her right in the face!" exclaimed Applejack. "Twilight would never do such a thing," added Fluttershy, in a quiet yet brave tone. The bully turned to Fluttershy, then looked at the entire group of brightly coloured girls. "Oh, I'm sorry," he added sarcasticly. "Are you asking for a punch in the face?" He raised his un-bandaged hand and closed it into a fist. Fluttershy took a step back. Pinkie, however, seemed oblivious to the threat. "No, silly," she answered. "But if you're going to apologize, you probably shouldn't be waving your fist like your going to punch somebody. Especially with the principal right behind you." Sure enough, the principal was standing right behind him, her hands crossed in front of her chest, in deep dismay. "Go to the office, now," the principal ordered. "This is the third time in the past two weeks that you've gotten detention." she turned two the two students who were standing behind him. "You two as well, head to the office," she directed. She then looked at the Mane Six. "Follow me," she, said, in a calmer voice. They followed her through the hallways to the principal's office. The bully gave them an angry look as he waited outside the office for detention. The principal sat at her desk told the girls to sit down. "Sorry about that. Brian often has a bad temper. I'm Principal Randall," she introduced herself. "You seem to be new here." "Yes we are!" Pinkie replied enthusiastically. "I'm Pinkie Pie!" "Pinkie Pie?" Principal Randall repeated, confused at the unusual name. "Well, my full name is Pinkamena Diane Pie, but everyone just calls me Pinkie," Pinkie explained. "Alright then," said the principal. "Well, If there are any more problems with that bully Brian, or you need any help finding your classes, just ask." "Don't worry," Twilight said. "And thanks for stopping Brian," Fluttershy added. "Yeah, we had a crazy time so far at Reefside. First, we got here through a portal, then we had to get used to walking on two legs, and then we were at Tommy Oliver's house, and there was all this cool dinosaur stuff--"Pinkie was interrupted by Rainbow Dash trying to cover her mouth. But it was too late. "You know Dr. Oliver?" Principal Randall asked, her eyes going wide in surprise. "He hasn't been here for quite a while now." "Yeah!" Pinkie answered, finally getting Rainbow Dash's hand off her mouth. "Well, sort of. I never met him myself, but he let us live in his house while while he's gone, and gave Twilight, A.J. and Dash here some advice on being power rangers!" "Pinkie!" her friends all yelled in unison. "That was supposed to be a secret!" Rainbow Dash added. "Wait a minute. You were the dino rangers that were fighting Mesogog's Tyrannodrones outside the school a while back?" the principal asked. "Tyrannodrones?" Twilight repeated. "Those were the monsters we fought?" "Yes," Principal Randall answered. "You don't seem to know who you're up against. Luckily, I happen to know quite a bit about your enemy. It wasn't that many years ago when Mesogog last tried to attack Reefside. Luckily, he was destroyed by the Dino Thunder rangers. You came just in time, or else the Tyrannodrones would have torn the school apart." "Do you think Mesogog is behind it?" Twilight asked. "I can't be sure. Although his Tyrannodrones are here, he hasn't shown up himself." Before the principal could say anything else, the bell rang. "You all better head to class now. Trust me, you don't want detention after school." The Mane Six hurried out of the office and to their classrooms. Principal Randall stood up from her desk, thinking about her encounter with the new students. "Did they say they went through a portal and had to get used to walking on two legs?" She wondered in her head. She shook her head a bit and left her office. "I must be going crazy." Chapter Seven: Research and Bake SalesTwilight Sparkle tapped on the keyboard of the computer furiously, her eyes squinting in concentration. When Rarity noticed this, she walked over to the computer. "Twilight, what are you trying to do?" "I wanted to do some research on Mesogog. In this world, humans use computers and the internet to do many things, including research," Twilight toldRarity, looking up momentarily from her computer. "Unfortunately, I'm more of a books person than a computer person, and I can't remember how to change the screen so it isn't black." She continued to type furiously, pressing the '1' and '0' keys multiple times. "Perhaps if I tell it to take me to the internet in binary code." "Let me try," offered Rarity, pressing the power button on the computer, causing the screen to light up. Twilight stared at the screen in disbelief, her fingers frozen above the keyboard. "H-how did you...but...What?" "Sweetie Belle has a device like this," explained Rarity. "Apparantly, it's becoming very popular in more technically advanced regions of Equestria, especially with the younger generation of ponies." "Wow. I need to learn more about that when we get back to Equestria," commented Twilight. She pointed to the screen, which now had two white bars marked 'Username' and 'Password'. "So, do you know what to do now? I still can't find the desktop." Rarity looked at the screen and shook her head. "From what I know, you can't do anything else unless you know the password to access the computer." Twilight's smile slowly became a very annoyed expression. "Why must computers be so complicated?" At that moment, Pinkie Pie entered the room. "What are you two doing inside? We're having a bake sale!" Twilight jumped from her seat. "How is that possible, Pinkie?" she asked. "Well, I've been doing nothing but baking cupcakes ever since I got here," shrugged Pinkie. "And human world cupcakes are just as good as Equestria cupcakes, so I figured 'why not?'." "But this house is in the middle of nowhere!" said Twilight. "No offence, Pinkie, your cupcakes are scrumptious. But who would walk all this way for just a few cupcakes?" "Don't underestimate me," smirked Pinkie, dragging the two other girls outside, where Pinkie had assembled and decorated some junkyard scraps and an old bike, forming a large wagon which was filled with cupcakes, cookies, and other sweets, as well as a ton of balloons. "Pinkie, when did you get the time to do this?" asked Twilight. "Oh, I had tons of time! When you put your mind to it, you can do a year's worth of work in under a week!" exclaimed Pinkie. "Are you indirectly saying we're being lazy?" asked Twilight, crossing her arms. "Oh, not you guys," said Pinkie. "Although, wouldn't it be a good idea to go into town and see if you can learn anything about your mission there? Think about it: you learned more from what other people told you about the situation than you did from any book or PC." Twilight took a look at the wagon filled with desserts, then at her friends, then back at the cart. "You do make a point," she finally replied. "Let's sell some baked goods!" * * * Within a few minutes, the Mane Six were in the middle of town, ready to distribute cupcakes, cookies, and cinnamon rolls to everyone that passed them. However, the streets seemed oddly empty. "Where did everyone go?" asked Pinkie. Soon, they were greeted by a mob of lizard-like monsters. "That there is your answer," replied Applejack, pointing at one of the monsters. Fluttershy let out a small scream before hiding behind the dessert wagon. Unfortunately, more of the monsters had surrounded the back of the wagon. Pinkie, who had been riding the bike attached to the wagon, turned around and started throwing cupcakes at the monsters' faces, causing them to stumble backward and away from Fluttershy. "Th-thanks. But shouldn't we see if anyone else is hurt?" Fluttershy wondered aloud. "Good point. I'll fly up and see if there are any other mobs of monsters," answered Rainbow Dash, activating her morpher. "Dino thunder, power up!" Within seconds, Dash had transformed into the yellow Dino Thunder ranger. She flew up a few feet to get a better view of her surroundings. "There!" she shouted, pointing to a nearby movie theater. "There's a ton of them over there, surrounding a group of civilians." "Um, I don't think this cupcake wagon will be able to get through all of these monsters," said Pinkie Pie, shooting chocolate chip cookies at the monsters like shurikens. "Ah reckon we better clear a path through the monsters first," decided Applejack. She ran around a small group of the dinosaur monsters with her new super speed powers, kicking each one a few times. "Good idea," exclaimed Twilight, blocking more monsters from getting too close to the cupcake wagon with her new shield-like skin. They both reached for their morphers, yelling "Dino thunder, power up!" in unison. Soon, they had transformed into the red and blue dino thunder rangers. Rarity stood as close to the cupcake wagon as she could. However, in the corner of her eye, she could see Fluttershy running deeper into the group of dinosaur monsters, hiding behind newspaper stands and streetlamps. Rarity ran toward her friend. "Fluttershy, what are you doing? This is dangerous!" Fluttershy pointed toward the movie theater. "There are people there that need our help. I'm not sure if Rainbow Dash can save them alone," whispered Fluttershy. "We have to help!" She stopped behind a bus stop to catch her breath. "Fluttershy, there is another solution." Fluttershy looked at her friend with a confused look. Rarity was holding her cell phone, and began dialing a number. Then, she held up the phone to her ear for a few moments. "...Hello? Yes, Spike, it's Rarity. Spike, there's no time! Those monsters you and the others spoke of began attacking! Yes... yes, that would be wonderful. And if you could please bring my emergency sewing kit, that would be wonderful. Yes...thank you." Rarity put down her cell phone back in her purse. "You didn't send Spike, did you?" asked Fluttershy. "Under different circumstances, I wouldn't want him to be in a dangerous situation either. However, he's the only other ranger that can help, as far as we know." Rarity had barely finished her sentence when two monsters appeared from behind her. "I think we should run," suggested Fluttershy. Rarity nodded. They both sprinted to Rainbow Dash, who was holding two triangular weapons in her hands and using them to slash the monsters away from the group of civilians. "Watch out!" warned Dash. In response, Rarity and Fluttershy stood back near the group of bystanders. "Where are the other rangers?" Rainbow dash asked. "Their still fighting off the monsters near Pinkie's cupcake wagon," explained Fluttershy. "Right when I could use a bit of help," said the yellow ranger, before getting hit with another monster. "Help is on the way!" yelled a familiar voice. Fluttershy, Rarity, and Rainbow Dash turned to the source of the voice: a black power ranger running on four legs. He jumped up and punched a monster with his front limbs before landing beside the yellow ranger. "Perfect timing," yelled Rainbow Dash, helping Spike take down more monsters. With the two rangers working together, the large mob shrank to a few monsters, who started to panic and flee. They didn't get too far, though, since they ran into the red ranger, who was wielding a large red stick. After defeating the remaining monsters, the red ranger looked around. "Is that all of 'em?" she asked. "I think so," answered the black ranger. He walked over to Rarity, and gave her a small white bag. "What's this for?" Rarity pulled a roll of cotton and some safety pins out from the bag. "I'm sure this will be useful, in case anyone was injured," she explained. Fluttershy nodded before turning to the group of people huddled near the movie theater. "The monsters are gone," she told them. "Is everyone okay? We have bandages." "And cupcakes!" yelled an energetic voice. Pinkie Pie parked her cupcake wagon near the movie theater, and caught the attention of the civilians. "Not to mention a bunch of other baked goods!" While Pinkie distracted the bystanders, the rangers unmorphed. "You know, I'm sort of glad Pinkie Pie made us have this bake sale today," Twilight thought aloud. "Yup. Who knows what those varmints would have done if we didn't show up," agreed Applejack. Twilight sighed. "If only we could have learned a bit more about why they attack, though." "Maybe we will," said Rainbow Dash, pointing to a cafe labelled 'Hayley's Cyberspace'. "That place looks familiar." Spike looked in the direction Rainbow Dash was pointing in. "Hey, that's the cafe from the show! the ones where the rangers would hang out." "I reckon we better take a closer look," suggested Applejack. The other rangers nodded. Author's Note First of all, I would like to say thank you for being very patient. I understand this chapter took a long time to make. That was due to a mix of writer's block and real-life stuff. Unfortunately, I still sort of have that writer's block, and I'm not sure how to continue on with the story. Admittedly, I'm starting to consider putting the story on hiatus (something I really don't want to do,) or asking for a co-author. Thanks for understanding.
Chapter OneTwilight looked at the portal with some curiosity. She had already entered it once before, leading to an adventure involving Sunset Shimmer and an alternate universe in which Everypony she knew were human. She had come back by now, and was now preparing to enter the portal again. Twilight wasn't sure why Princess Celestia told her to do this, but she was aware that this time, she would be entering another alternate universe, different from the last one. She also knew she wasn't going alone, as she was instructed to bring Spike and two of her friends. Celestia strangely insisted that half of the elements stay in Equestria. After much consideration, she asked Applejack and Rainbow Dash to come along. They both accepted the offer. One of the castle guards was standing by the portal. "To make sure Everypony ends up in the same universe, I will ask you to enter together on the count of--" his voice was cut off by the sound of hooves galloping into the portal. * * * The group stumbled out of the portal, trying to get used to the sudden change in both scenery and their new selves. This was the first time that Applejack and Rainbow Dash had become humans themselves, and it took a while for them to get used to walking on two feet. Twilight had less difficulty and was now trying to figure out where she was, while Spike jumped around in his canine form. "I could seriously use a set of wings right now," thought Rainbow Dash, looking up at the sky, envious of a passing plane. Meanwhile Applejack was reading a sign with minor difficulty: "Welcome...to Reef-side, Cali-for-nia. Where in tarnation is that?" Twilight's face brightened up. "California, that's in the U.S.A.!" "Say what now?" Applejack asked. "I've read about this place. There was a book about it in the library back in Ponyville. Long ago, some human children went through a similar portal to this one to help the ponies. They lived in the U.S.A. and became acquaintances with Firefly, a famous pegasus." Suddenly, Spike called out to the others, "Look over here!" He was looking at three small gemstones, one for each of the primary colours. "Rarity would love those! Can we bring them home for souveniers?" Twilight picked up the gems. "I don't see why not," she replied, placing them in her saddlebag, which had changed into a backpack. The next few hours were spent wandering around Reefside. They stopped at various attractions and had a bite to eat before checking into a hotel. As they unpacked, Twilight reached in her backpack for a scroll which was given to her by the princess. The scroll read: Dear Twilight Sparkle, Please forgive me for being so unspecific, but lately the royal duties have been piling up fast. I have given you a small pack, if you remember, that you had to keep safe and not open until you and your friends have found a place to stay. Inside, I have packed three 'morphers,' one for you, one for Applejack, and one for Rainbow Dash. Each should be labelled with the corresponding name. After, you must find three gems, one red, one blue, and one yellow. The gems should be able to fit into each of the morphers. Then each of you must wear the morphers as you would a watch or bracelet. From there, I am sure a clever student like you will figure out what to do next. Twilight, there is a dangerous group of villains that are planning to use the power of ancient dinosaurs to take over the universe you have been taken to, as well as crush Ponyville. These morphers will help you and your friends stop them. Good Luck, Sincerely, Princess Celestia Twilight now reached again into her backpack, pulling out the package. Opening it up, she revealed the morphers, which resembled dinosaur heads, each either red, blue, or yellow. At the back were the names of the people which they were addressed to. She then remembered the gems which Spike had found earlier and inserted them within the morphers. After, she picked up the red morpher and put it on. She felt a wave of energy run through her, coming from her wrist. Or was it from the morpher itself? Rainbow Dash stared at the television in boredom, practicing using her fingers with the remote. "There's literally nothing but this talking newsperson guy on T.V., or people selling stuff." Suddenly her eyes widened in interest. "Hey, this seems cool. Check out these guys!" Applejack, Twilight and Spike rushed towards the T.V., which was now showing some kind of action movie--or was it part of a series? There were three full-grown humans in colour-coded suits with matching helmets. Each different person imitated a different dinosaur. The small team seemed to be protecting the citizens from evil henchmen of some sort. A few moments later, the three humans are shown congratulating themselves in the presence of their teacher and mentor, a Dr. Tommy Oliver (who, in some characteristics, reminded Twilight of Princess Celestia). The trio are shown to actually be average teenagers, now wearing average human clothing, but still the same colours. But what caught Twilight's eye the most was what the three humans wore on their wrists. She glanced at her morpher with curiosity. Wondering about what Twilight and her friends were expected to do themselves, she felt lucky that she chose Applejack and Rainbow Dash to come along. She show soon ended, and Spike now confessed, "I am really tired right about now. Can we order dinner and get to sleep?" Despite the fact that all of his companions weren't sleepy yet, they did admit that they were hungry after unpacking and not eating for the past few hours. "Well, nopony's goin' to be orderin' from this hotel while this room has a kitchen and ah got fresh apples packed," Applejack commented, opening a backpack full of cinnamon, pie crusts, and dozens of apples. "Now where's that fridge ah've heard so much about? These apples won't stay like this for long! And who's up for some apple pie?" Everyone else in the room nodded enthusiastically. Author's Note My first chapter of this story. Sort of like a prologue. I am hoping for an editor or prereader if possible.
Chapter TwoRainbow Dash groaned miserably as the teacher talked, recalling how she ended up in highschool in the first place as she eyed the clock up on the wall. Twilight suggested that in order to seem more like average human teenagers; they would have to go to school. She dragged them all to the closest shopping center for school supplies before they got to school. They were introduced to classes, computers, and calculators. Applejack hated the last two items, being a typical farm pony herself. There were only two things that Rainbow even thought for a moment to enjoy: Phys. Ed. class and the break times between classes. She soon found her love of a sport called soccer, and she happened to be very good at playing the game too. Sadly, the joy was broken within seconds of the boring theme of in-class work. The clock was ticking. Other students also looked up at it, but not with as much impatience as Rainbow Dash herself. Her teeth were chattering... Tick, Tock... Sweat poured down from her forehead... Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock... Her eyes were open wide... RRRRIIIIIIINNNNG! Rainbow Dash bolted out of her seat and towards the door, now open as wide as it could. Within less than a minute, she was outside and breathing in the fresh air. She gazed above, imagining she was among the clouds and birds, flying over the buildings and people and dinosaurs... "Wait a minute…" realized Dash.”What are dinosaurs doing here?" Her friends had caught up with her by now. Twilight watched in fear as the large beasts stomped toward them, remembering Princess Celestia's letter. She signalled to her friends to follow her into a small forest area not too far from the school. After a few long minutes of sprinting, the trio had reached a cave with an entrance to small for the beasts to enter. Twilight then opened up her backpack. "Girls, I have to tell you something. Something about the mission," she began, pulling out the morphers. She even pulled off the one on her wrist. "Those monsters are trying to take over Reefside, if not the entire Earth. Then they want to conquer Equestria too." Applejack peeked out of the cave. "What do you mean by 'they want to'? They don't seem to have much of a mind of their own, by the looks of it. Sure there isn't anyone bossing them around?" Twilight ignored the question for the moment as she was still trying to make sense of what parts of the morphers went together. So far, it looked like Twilight would represent the triceratops; Rainbow Dash would represent a pterodactyl, and Applejack a tyrannosaurus. What she didn't understand was the colour jewel in which to put each one in. "These look like the morphers from the show," commented Dash. "Did you try using the colour pattern they used?" "Actually, I don't think so," Twilight replied with curiosity. "I assumed that yellow would not work for your morpher." She followed her advice. Then she handed each person their morpher. "I hope this works." The trio now ran back outside. The monsters were headed for the school. Students and teachers alike were screaming and running. From a mixture of voices, a conversation could be heard: "Where are the Dino Thunder rangers?" "Didn't you hear?" "They've went to help fight against some aliens, far away from here." "Someone call for help!" Twilight looked at her friends in worry. "I don't know what to do! What do I say?" Applejack looked just as confused. Suddenly, Rainbow Dash jumped up. "Never fear! Your trusty neighborhood Rainbow Dash is here!" With those words, she stood up straight and covered her morpher, which was at her side. "Dino thunder, power up!" she yelled, shifting her arm forward. "Ha!" She suddenly appeared to be near a large volcano. Her clothes became one big, white suit with a golden emblem of a dinosaur's footstep on the chest. She jumped down onto lower ground as her suit turned yellow and wings sprouted from under her arms. She stood up straight as a matching yellow helmet materialized around her head. She flapped her wings a bit as the volcanic scene turned back to normal. After a brief moment of awe, Twilight and Applejack followed her lead. Twilight now saw herself dressed in blue, and Applejack in red. "Good thing we had T.V. to watch last night," Dash commented "And I can fly again!" "No time to start gloatin'," replied Applejack, running with immense speed towards a large green dinosaur about to stomp on a young toddler. She kicked it away as if the dinosaur's leg was just an apple tree. At once, the dinosaur ran away in fear. Meanwhile, Twilight was running into a group of small dinosaurs surrounding an old woman. Despite the large number of animals, she actually did pretty well in fending off a few of the beasts with her walking stick and purse. As the herd of beasts started to move in, Twilight quickly calculated the perfect angle to scare them off while making sure the elderly citizen didn't get hurt. Within seconds, more dinosaurs were running away from the town. Up in the sky, Rainbow Dash was giving some of the dinosaurs a migraine. She flew as fast as she could (which was pretty fast, of course) around their heads, taunting them all the while. Those dinosaurs ended up falling down in dizziness on the empty soccer field. The last of these dinosaurs were rounded up by all three of the rangers and led away from the city. "I think ah'm almost ready to hit the hay for a bit," yawned Applejack with a hint of sarcasm, as she was almost never actually tired. "Hmm, strange," Thought Twilight. "I thought there would be more to do." "Well, maybe we'll have more action happening around here soon," thought Dash. "Power Down." While nobody was looking, she had changed back from her new alter-ego. The others followed. Then they walked back to the hotel. As they opened the door, they were greeted by Spike the dog, who now looked like he was choking. He finally managed to spit out a scroll, marked with Princess Celestia's seal. Then he promptly went to sleep in exhaustion. Twilight opened the letter. All she could say was, "Oh, my..."
Chapter ThreeTwilight had now opened the letter. It read: Dear Twilight Sparkle, I am very concerned about the health of Spikey-wikey. Is he doing alright? He forgot to pick up the extra gems I had sent for him, and they’re still there! Luckily, it seemed that you forgot to clean up your workspace and I managed to send the letter via magic to let you know about the gems. If only I could have sent the gems the same way! So, where in Equestria are you? I messed up my beautiful indigo-violet mane just to go all the way to Canterlot to find out where you were! And Sweetie's friends have been complaining that their sisters have been missing as well! Wait, I don't think Scootaloo and Dash are related, are they? Please come back soon, because at this rate I am worried my new fashions will outgrow you if you grow to alicorn size! And by the way, if you find some sapphires, can you please send them over? Sincerely, Rarity Twilight felt exasperated. "Didn't she know that Spike can't handle these kinds of letters when he's a puppy? I thought I specified to send the messages through the portal in the letters I sent to the other elements. Applejack, didn't you send those letters?" Applejack gulped. "Honestly, Twi', I was in a rush, so I gave the letters to Rainbow Dash." All eyes were on Rainbow Dash. "I sent the letters to Pinkie and Fluttershy, but Rarity wasn't home. So I gave her letter to Sweetie Belle." Twilight rolled her eyes. Dash might be the element of loyalty, but she lacked patience, or the ability to take her time to notice that Rarity had a mailbox. At the same time, she wasn't to blame. "Change o' topic," Applejack said, beginning to retell the events of the day to Spike, who had now managed to get back up and regain his health. Spike's eyelids drooped down sleepily as Twilight described all the new, "intriguingly interesting" things she learned in class. Then, as Dash detailed every minute of recess, Spike found himself feeling very dizzy. Then Applejack finally told of their first experience as power rangers, to which Spike opened his eyes and mouth wide in amazement. "What do we do now?" wondered Dash aloud. "I mean, I seriously hate the fact that those huge things attempted to rampage the town and all that, but I kinda wish they came back." Rainbow Dash paused and stood up, pretending to prepare for a wrestling match as she did in front of Discord back in the maze in Equestria, as she said "I want to kick some more of those dinos until they run away screaming!" The others grinned slightly as Rainbow Dash mimed being a superhero, when Twilight spoke up. "Well, something is telling me that we'll be seeing them again soon." With that, she zipped open her heavy backpack and eagerly opened her textbooks on the desk facing the window. Rainbow Dash, however, immediately jumped to bed and began to sleep. * * * The next morning, Rainbow Dash woke up to the sound Applejack preparing a quick breakfast. Within minutes, Dash joined her in eating up toast with apple jam, washed down with apple juice. "Y'know," Applejack began, her face as green as her grandmother's, "I just realized that my human self can't stand havin' apples in ev'ry meal. Ain't that awful?" Rainbow Dash looked at her watch. "Well I think what's worse is that we have to head to school soon." she replied, turning her head towards Twilight, who was fast asleep. "Why isn't Twilight awake yet?" "Twi' was so busy with homework, I guess she forgot about sleepin' until after everyone else," Applejack answered. "We better wake her up." Applejack and Rainbow Dash tried nearly everything they could, from kicking the bed to trying to whisper "Wake up" in her ear. Spike even attempted to bark as loud as he could to wake her up. Rainbow simply stared at Spike, who was out of breath in three minutes, yet with no success. Finally, she said, "Spike, try louder, like this." Then she screamed at the top (if not over) her lungs. Immediately, Twilight shot up out of bed, and everyone was covering their ears with their teeth gritted and eyes tightly shut. Barely a second later, Dash asked herself "How did I do that?" Twilight tried to think of a possible explanation when Spike spoke up. "Hold on, I think that Dino Thunder show was on yesterday while you were all gone. All the rangers seemed to be using superpowers in the theme song." "Did the other rangers get any nifty superpowers too?" Applejack asked. Spike thought for a moment. "I think, but I can't be sure. The video clips for the theme song went very fast. After all, how am I supposed to remember? You're the rangers, not me!" The rangers looked at one another before Twilight glanced at her watch. “Oh my, I'm going to be late for school!" she worried, scrambling toward her backpack. * * * The next six hours were, again, rather uneventful. It wasn't until after school that Rainbow Dash had bumped into Applejack with exciting news. "The soccer practices start today, and they said I might join the team!" she announced joyfully. "Go find Twilight and meet me at the soccer field, because you won't want to miss this!" Applejack agreed to be there and immediately went to find Twilight. Despite still being unfamiliar with the school hallways, she seemed to find herself navigating the school much faster than usual, finding Twilight within barely a couple of minutes. "Applejack, you really shouldn't run in the hallways," said Twilight upon noticing her friend. "What's with the rush?" "Rainbow Dash is waitin' at the soccer field. Somethin' about practices," Applejack replied. "Oh! I'll be right there!" "It seems nearly everypony--I mean everybody-- else is already outside, Twi'." "Good thing too." Applejack looked puzzled. "Why do you say that?" she asked. Twilight answered, "Because running in the hallways is against the school rules. Sorry, A.J. But you did go pretty fast. Hearing your footsteps was like being in a movie going fast-forward." Despite the fact that Applejack had no idea what her friend meant by movies speeding around, realization dawned on her that she was the second of their team to discover her superpower. * * * The crowd was slightly larger than usual, considering that what they came to see seemed to be an ordinary soccer practice. It turned out that the team had gotten a sudden and slight growth in popularity, however. Twilight and Applejack managed to find a space near the edge of the field soon after arriving to the field, before spotting Rainbow Dash on the field. Dash was practicing some simple soccer drills with some of the other team members, specifically practicing shooting the ball into one of the large nets at either side. Within about 15 minutes, the coach blew his whistle to call the team to attention. "Team, I have good news and bad news," he announced to the soccer team and the audience. "The good news is that we finally have enough players to have a chance at winning the soccer tournament this year." There were many cheers coming from on the field and where the spectators sat, as the school seemed to have very little chance of winning for the past 5 years. The coach looked around with a grim face. "The bad news is that our best player, Sam Field, has a broken ankle, and won't be able to play for the rest of the season." The crowd now made many noises of disapproval, from booing to concerned comments, and then finally a heated argument from a small amount of students sitting right behind Twilight and Applejack. "How can this happen?" one of them asked angrily. He was very muscular, and seemed like the very person not to mess with. "Calm down, for crying out loud!" another yelled. "Haven't you seen that new kid with the rainbow hair? She's awesome!" "She's a wimp! Look at how tiny she is!" "You make fun of the team, you're disgracing the school!" "So what?! She's still a shrimp!" At this rate, Dash was getting angry herself. "Who are you calling a shrimp?" She asked the bully, with a very similar tone that she once used long ago while defending Fluttershy. Twilight and Applejack sat there in embarrassment, blushing to the extent that one would think their faces were freezing. They were literally sitting in the middle of an argument. "Dash, please, ignore them." Twilight pleaded, watching the muscular person behind her make fists with his hands. Unfortunately, the bully just stared straight at Twilight. "So, you're friends with this shrimp? Seriously?" He grinned maliciously. "Well, then, since you are already right in front of me, and I haven't got a chance to beat anyone up for the last few hours..." he stopped speaking, and looked around at his large audience. The coach was, conveniently, speaking to someone on her cell phone with her back turned. He looked back at Twilight. PUNCH! He wasted no second in giving her a punch in the face before slamming her to the field. Applejack couldn't do much, as physical fighting was strictly against the rules. To her, honesty and integrity were very much similar. The best she could do was break her friend's fall. Unfortunately, Applejack was caught off-guard and tripped over the seats. Now, they both fell all the way down to the field, smashing into Dash, who smashed into some other soccer players, who smashed into the coach. The coach rose from the ground, looking around to see what happened. The other students also got back up, and started to explain the whole incident. They made it to the part when Twilight got punched in the face, when Applejack spoke to Twilight. "Twi', you alright?" "That was a pretty hard hit," Dash added, seeing Twilight bent over and looking the other way, towards the bully. Applejack and Dash were confused. "Are you alright?" she repeated, with a more confused tone. She looked over to see Twilight's expression. She and Dash noticed that Twilight wasn't crying at all, nor frowning. Rather, she had a slightly amused face on her, and there was no sign of blood or bruises at all. They followed Twilight's gaze to the bully, who was screaming in pain. "I guess I might have found out my superpower," Twilight said to her friends, in a low volume so that only they could hear. "Only Applejack has to find out what her power is now." commented Rainbow Dash. "Already did," Applejack answered. "Super speed." Dash looked at her friend with a bit of jealousy, before telling her "I'm sure I'd still be faster than you would." Twilight rolled her eyes. "Let's just forget about arguing over superpowers, and be lucky we have them. Plus, look over there." She pointed to a group of dinosaur minions marching straight for the field.
Chapter Four: What's Happening Back in Equestria?The crowd of spectators fled from the field as the dinosaur minions entered from the other side of the field. "We need to lead these monsters away from the people!" Applejack told Twilight and Rainbow Dash. "The people seem to be safely off the field now," Twilight commented. "We just need to make sure that none of the monsters get to them!" Dash held her morpher out in front of her. "I guess it's morphing time then!" Applejack and Twilight held their morphers out as well. In unison, the team yelled "Dino thunder, power up!" Within seconds they were in their ranger forms. Twilight turned to the red ranger. "You're the leader, A.J., so do you have any plan?" Applejack nodded. "Round up the dinos in the field, an' don't let 'em run towards town!" the blue and yellow rangers responded accordingly. Dash flew upwards while Twilight and Applejack ran for a rope. Dash circled the large number of dinosaurs, keeping them as far from the civilians as possible. Applejack and Twilight soon arrived, running around the dinosaurs with a long rope in their hands to tie up the dinosaurs' legs. The monsters fell down as they tried to escape. "How are we going to get them out of the stadium?" Dash asked. "We can't leave them in here in the middle of soccer season!" "It's too risky to take 'em out of the field right now. They might escape!" Applejack answered. "If only there was a portal or something that would just fall out of the sky--"Twilight was interrupted in her loud train of thought by the sound of a THUD right behind her. The rangers turned to see yet another ranger, dressed in black. He stood beside three motorcycles and in front of a purple portal. "Connor? Ethan? Why are you wearing skirts?" was the first thing he said. "I mean, how did you all get here?" Dash looked at her friends and at the stranger, then to the three motorbikes that he brought with him. "Are those for us?" she asked. "Of course, Kira!" the stranger answered. "Don't you remember? About 5 years ago?" It was now Applejack's turn to speak. "Who are you? Because you sound like a mighty--" before she could say "familiar" the stranger answered: "Yeah, Mighty Morphin! I sound like a Mighty Morphin ranger because I am!" Suddenly, a head peeked out of the portal, who looked as familiar as the stranger's voice sounded. "Mr. Oliver? Who are you talking to?" the head asked. "Connor?" The stranger asked, looking from the person peeking through the portal to the rangers that stood before him. * * * Flash Sentry ran into the throne room of the castle, stopping breathlessly in front of Princess Luna. "Luna! Half-Mane 3 storming castle!" Before Luna could interpret what Flash meant, three ponies catapulted in the room from the window. They landed headfirst on the polished floor. Pinkie was the first of the three to pop up on to her feet, followed by Rarity, who was trying to fix her tangled mane, and Fluttershy, who mumbled a feeble "sorry" as she turned her head to the smashed window. Rarity stormed up to Princess Luna, gesturing for the others to follow her. She took a deep breath and began to speak. "Princess Luna, I request to see Princess Celestia on an important manner." Luna looked down at the three mares, surprised. "MY DEAR SISTER IS--" She lowered her voice at the sight of the shy, trembling pegasus. "My apologies. My dear sister is quite busy right now. She has barely gotten any sleep." Pinkie caught the chance to interrupt, asking "Why does she need sleep? She's been working for over 1000 years nonstop!" "I meant resting. She's getting old, you see, and--" "Alicorns don't get old!" "AARGH!!" Luna couldn't take it anymore. "We're playing pirates now? Well, Luna a pirate sounds more like an AAARRRR, not ARG, silly!" Luna smacked her head on her hoof multiple times in rage. "JUST....STATE...YOUR PROBLEM," Luna shouted above even the royal volume. Rarity looked up at the Princess. "Spike, Twilight, Applejack, and Rainbow Dash have gone missing. Sweetie had just remembered to give me the letter, but there were no explicit details of what they were doing. Or why the rest of us couldn’t come." Luna's pupils decreased in size. She knew most of the answers to these questions to at least some extent, but Celestia told her to keep it secret. She looked at the mares, sweat pouring down her face. "I know nothing about this." Pinkie's mouth burst open. "Then let us go and see Celestia!" "No!" Luna shook her front hooves wildly. "Just keep quiet about the whole thing! Please! That's a royal decree!" But her voice was drowned out by the sounds of hoofsteps running though the hall clearly marked "Royal Sister's Rooms". Luna facehoofed. Celestia stood over a desk with a television and a few tools and gizmos, trying to fix the large blue solar panels which sat above the television screen. She was interrupted by a familiar accented voice. "Princess Celestia? There is a serious situation in Ponyville. Would you mind if we interrupted?" Celestia rolled her eyes and put on her most royal princess face before turning to Rarity, who stood just within the room's entrance with Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy on either side. "Save your breath, my little ponies, I could hear you in the throne room from here." "Were we really that loud?" Pinkie asked, one eyebrow raised in confusion. Celestia looked at where the old and worn out hoof-made phone from her childhood hid. She and Luna used to use it to communicate whenever they were grounded as kids, and they were too busy to take the device out once they were old enough to get caught up in royal politics. It still had its uses. To avoid an exploited secret on the castle safety measures, Celestia lied, "Alicorns have an extremely clear sense of hearing." The mares shrugged their suspicions off. "So you know where our friends are?" Rarity asked. Celestia walked over to the ponies, guiding them with her out the door and into the hallway. "As a matter of fact, I do know. Remember that portal Twilight went through?" "While following Sunset Shimmer?" Fluttershy asked meekly. "I think so." The other fillies nodded in agreement. Celestia turned a corner in the hallway. "She left through the portal again. For a royal mission.With Applejack, Rainbow Dash, and Spike. I believe she added that to your letters." "But why are they going without us?" Pinkie asked. "Because of two reasons. First of all, I requested she picked only two of her friends so that half of the element bearers could stay here." "But the tree has the elements!" Pinkie blurted out. "Don't they?" "Yes, but you fillies are excellent at stopping threats--" "When we work together, that is," Rarity rebutted. "All six of us." Celestia stopped in her tracks. "Are you sure you mares will be fine with going through the portal and going up against various dinosaurs willing to eat human flesh?" Rarity nodded in determination, followed by Pinkie Pie's joyful hops and another quick nod. Even Fluttershy had seemed to gain a bit of bravery. "Are they as bad as dragons?" she asked the princess. "More or less," Celestia replied. "Don't worry; you don't have to physically fight them if you don't want to. There are many other ways to help." Fluttershy took a sigh of relief. "I can still go, right?" she asked. "Of course. But I suggest that we make arrangements for this rather than just entering the portal. I don't want too many ponies getting all worried over the dinosaurs before they even have a chance to get here," Celestia advised. She then revealed two small devices from under her wing, which each had the look of a dinosaur of some sort. It also had a round strap at the back that may be to keep the device on a thin hoof-leg, from what the mares thought. "These will also be of great help in your mission." The devices transferred into the careful magical grip of Rarity before being placed in a blue, jeweled saddlebag. The three friends thanked Princess Celestia before Rarity hurried towards the castle exit, which was now not too far. "Quick, now, I have a lot of packing to do for this! And the next train to Ponyville leaves in just a moment!" she called to her friends.
Chapter Five: More Humanized Ponies!Meanwhile, in Reefside, Twilight Sparkle was just about to unlock the door to the Oliver residence. "It was nice of Mr. Oliver to let us stay here for a while," she thought aloud, heard clearly by Spike now that she was unmorphed and the ranger helmet did not cover her head. "Now we don't have to keep paying the rent in that hotel." The sound of a fast vehicle followed. Twilight turned around to see the brand-new motorbikes that Tommy Oliver had also gave them. The red and yellow ones were currently driven by Applejack and Rainbow Dash. The blue bike meant for Twilight was already in the driveway, but Applejack and Rainbow Dash had decided to race each other a few times. Since they had not unmorphed yet, they had a slight resemblance to some stunt-bike riders. Twilight checked her watch. "Get inside, it's getting late!" she called to her friends. Within an hour, everyone was inside and had unpacked. "Anypony--er, anyone, I mean-- hungry for some apple slices?" Twilight looked at her friend in confusion. "AJ, you were greener than Granny Smith after eating the leftovers of that apple pie. Are you sure you want more apples?" Applejack's face became stern as she pushed an apple cutter on an apple, cutting it into multiple slices. "Twi', you know we Apples eat nothin' but apples." She took a bite out of one of the apple slices, resuming her speech before she was completely finished chewing. "I highly doubt they would be the cause of--" she stopped speaking abruptly and put one hand to her face, bending forward and running to the kitchen sink. After a few seconds of vomiting, Applejack lifted her head and wiped her mouth. "Pesticides," she muttered. "We'll get some good ol' organic apples next time." Suddenly, Spike scurried into the kitchen. "Applejack, Twilight, you have to see what Rainbow Dash and I found!" he barked, running around in circles with excitement before heading back out of the kitchen. Twilight and Applejack followed. * * * Not long after, Spike had reached the old headquarters of the Dino Thunder rangers. It looked much like it did in the show, except Rainbow Dash was already there. Behind her was a strange portal. Twilight and Applejack took a closer look at the portal. "Why, that looks mighty familiar." Applejack thought aloud. Soon after, a girl dressed in pink fell out of the portal, followed by two more, who were then followed by a large suitcase and a fluffy, white cat. The girl dressed in pink jumped up first, taking a quick look at her surroundings. Upon seeing the three new rangers, her face brightened (which was almost impossible, considering how excited she looked beforehand). "Twilight, Applejack, Rainbow Dash! I'm so happy to see you!" she exclaimed. "It's me, Pinkie!" She looked at her hands and her shoe-covered feet. "Wow, humans look a lot different compared to ponies," she remarked. "We were so worried about you," said Fluttershy, getting up cautiously and looking at the surroundings. "Where are we?" she asked. "This is the house of Dr. Tommy Oliver," Twilight answered with a smile. "He's a famous Power Ranger, and he let us stay here during the next little while." Her smile started to fade as she realized that she wasn't sure exactly how long she and her friends would be in Reefside. "Pardon me, Twilight, but Celestia said these little devices would be of some assistance," said Rarity as she pulled out two morphers from her saddlebag, which had become an elegant purse. Applejack, Rainbow Dash, and Twilight took a step closer to examine what Rarity was holding. "New morphers!" Dash exclaimed. "But wait," she frowned. "There's six of us, so who gets the morphers?" "Definitely ain't us three," answered Applejack, holding up her morpher and gesturing to Twilight and Rainbow Dash, who held up their morphers as well. "Not mine," Fluttershy added. "Well, maybe it is, but Celestia said I didn't have to be a ranger if I didn't want to." "We better put them somewhere same for now, until we're sure about which morpher belongs to whom," suggested Twilight. Rarity handed the morphers to Twilight, but her fingers fumbled and she dropped the black ranger morpher. "I got it!" barked Spike, running under the morpher and letting it land onto his back. Applejack bent over to pick it up, noticing a stranger connection between the diameter of the wrist of the morpher and Spike's front legs. "Twi', could you come see this?" asked Applejack. Twilight bent down to see what Applejack was pointing at and nodded. "Spike, how would you like to demonstrate how a morpher works?" she asked Spike. "Uh, sure," Spike answered, confusion in his voice. He slipped the morpher onto his front leg. "But I don't see why you guys can't just show them." He jumped onto his back legs, hopping slightly as he tried to stay up. He also added, "This doesn't look exactly like any of the morphers from the show." He looked up at the Mane Six. "So, all I have to do is say 'Dino thunder, power up,' and--" he abruptly stopped speaking as soon as he realized that he was morphing into the black ranger. "That morpher worked for Spike!"Pinkie Pie remarked. "Who would have known those could work on dogs." Spike stared at himself in amazement, now as tall as an adult human and able to switch between standing on two and four legs with more ease. "I feel like that talking dog ranger from SPD. And I like it!" As the Mane Six looked at each other with confusion upon hearing the 'talking dog ranger' remark from Spike, Twilight held the white ranger morpher in her hands, examining it carefully. "We still need to figure out who this white ranger morpher belongs to," she said. "I'll find a place to put this. Then we can all have some dinner."
Chapter Six: We Weren't Aware of ThisApplejack was up fairly early the next morning. This wasn't unusual for her, coming from an apple farm. She headed for the kitchen and began to make breakfast. It didn't take long for her to notice that the oven was filled with cupcakes. "Pinkie, what in tarnation are you bakin' cupcakes for?" Applejack asked, trying to find Pinkie. "Because I want to see if cupcakes taste the same here as they do in Equestria!" Pinkie answered with a large grin as she appeared from behind the kitchen table. "Really?" Applejack asked in a tone that told Pinkie she was expecting a more reasonable answer. Pinkie sighed. "Well, actually I wanted to have a little party since we're all here," Pinkie explained. "It's been a long time since all six of us have had a party--seven if you include Spike. Come to think of it, you've been gone pretty long. We were starting to miss you all." Applejack smiled. "It was mighty nice of Princess Celestia to let y'all come here." Pinkie Pie nodded in agreement as she began to take the cupcakes out of the oven. "So, Applejack, why did Princess Celestia bring you four to Reefside?" Applejack just stood there for a moment, realizing that Celestia had not told them exactly why they were here. "Well, she gave us these little morphin' items," Applejack began to answer, showing Pinkie her morpher. "But she never really told us what the danger was. So far, we just saw a few weird monsters." "Weird monsters?" Pinkie wondered. "Yeah. They kind of look like reptiles, but they walk just like humans." "Like the ones on T.V.?" "Yeah, like the ones on--wait, what?!" Applejack turned to see that Pinkie had left towards the living room. Pinkie was staring at the television, which was on the news channel. "...witnesses say that reptilian creatures were spotted near a local highschool here in Reefside, California," the reporter announced. "However, they were soon removed from the school grounds by the Dino Rangers, who haven't been seen in Reefside for years." Beside the reporter was footage of the rangers dealing with the monsters. "They didn't show us becoming rangers, did they?" Applejack asked anxiously. "Nope," Pinkie replied. Applejack sighed in relief. "We better finish making those cupcakes, don't you think so?" Pinkie asked her, turning off the T.V. and heading back to the kitchen. * * * It was 8:00 the next day when the Mane Six arrived at Reefside Highschool. Fluttershy looked at her surroundings timidly. "There sure are a lot of students here," she commented. "Something wrong, Fluttershy?" Rarity asked. "You sound quieter than usual." "I'm just worried about Spike," she explained. "Was it a good idea to leave him alone at home?" "Relax, Fluttershy. Spike can handle it," Rainbow Dash said. She looked ahead and frowned. "Uh-oh, It's the guy from soccer practice." Heading toward Twilight and her friends was the bully that they had encountered during Rainbow Dash's last soccer practice. Following him were two other students who looked nearly as menacing as their leader. A large bandage was wrapped around the bully's hand, which he held in front of Twilight's face. "Look at what you did, weirdo!" Twilight looked at the hand in front of her, then to the bully's face, then back to the hand. "What did I do?" She asked, confused. "You hit my hand with your head!" He exclaimed, boiling in anger. "If I recall correctly, you were the one who tried to hurt Twilight. You punched her right in the face!" exclaimed Applejack. "Twilight would never do such a thing," added Fluttershy, in a quiet yet brave tone. The bully turned to Fluttershy, then looked at the entire group of brightly coloured girls. "Oh, I'm sorry," he added sarcasticly. "Are you asking for a punch in the face?" He raised his un-bandaged hand and closed it into a fist. Fluttershy took a step back. Pinkie, however, seemed oblivious to the threat. "No, silly," she answered. "But if you're going to apologize, you probably shouldn't be waving your fist like your going to punch somebody. Especially with the principal right behind you." Sure enough, the principal was standing right behind him, her hands crossed in front of her chest, in deep dismay. "Go to the office, now," the principal ordered. "This is the third time in the past two weeks that you've gotten detention." she turned two the two students who were standing behind him. "You two as well, head to the office," she directed. She then looked at the Mane Six. "Follow me," she, said, in a calmer voice. They followed her through the hallways to the principal's office. The bully gave them an angry look as he waited outside the office for detention. The principal sat at her desk told the girls to sit down. "Sorry about that. Brian often has a bad temper. I'm Principal Randall," she introduced herself. "You seem to be new here." "Yes we are!" Pinkie replied enthusiastically. "I'm Pinkie Pie!" "Pinkie Pie?" Principal Randall repeated, confused at the unusual name. "Well, my full name is Pinkamena Diane Pie, but everyone just calls me Pinkie," Pinkie explained. "Alright then," said the principal. "Well, If there are any more problems with that bully Brian, or you need any help finding your classes, just ask." "Don't worry," Twilight said. "And thanks for stopping Brian," Fluttershy added. "Yeah, we had a crazy time so far at Reefside. First, we got here through a portal, then we had to get used to walking on two legs, and then we were at Tommy Oliver's house, and there was all this cool dinosaur stuff--"Pinkie was interrupted by Rainbow Dash trying to cover her mouth. But it was too late. "You know Dr. Oliver?" Principal Randall asked, her eyes going wide in surprise. "He hasn't been here for quite a while now." "Yeah!" Pinkie answered, finally getting Rainbow Dash's hand off her mouth. "Well, sort of. I never met him myself, but he let us live in his house while while he's gone, and gave Twilight, A.J. and Dash here some advice on being power rangers!" "Pinkie!" her friends all yelled in unison. "That was supposed to be a secret!" Rainbow Dash added. "Wait a minute. You were the dino rangers that were fighting Mesogog's Tyrannodrones outside the school a while back?" the principal asked. "Tyrannodrones?" Twilight repeated. "Those were the monsters we fought?" "Yes," Principal Randall answered. "You don't seem to know who you're up against. Luckily, I happen to know quite a bit about your enemy. It wasn't that many years ago when Mesogog last tried to attack Reefside. Luckily, he was destroyed by the Dino Thunder rangers. You came just in time, or else the Tyrannodrones would have torn the school apart." "Do you think Mesogog is behind it?" Twilight asked. "I can't be sure. Although his Tyrannodrones are here, he hasn't shown up himself." Before the principal could say anything else, the bell rang. "You all better head to class now. Trust me, you don't want detention after school." The Mane Six hurried out of the office and to their classrooms. Principal Randall stood up from her desk, thinking about her encounter with the new students. "Did they say they went through a portal and had to get used to walking on two legs?" She wondered in her head. She shook her head a bit and left her office. "I must be going crazy."
Chapter Seven: Research and Bake SalesTwilight Sparkle tapped on the keyboard of the computer furiously, her eyes squinting in concentration. When Rarity noticed this, she walked over to the computer. "Twilight, what are you trying to do?" "I wanted to do some research on Mesogog. In this world, humans use computers and the internet to do many things, including research," Twilight toldRarity, looking up momentarily from her computer. "Unfortunately, I'm more of a books person than a computer person, and I can't remember how to change the screen so it isn't black." She continued to type furiously, pressing the '1' and '0' keys multiple times. "Perhaps if I tell it to take me to the internet in binary code." "Let me try," offered Rarity, pressing the power button on the computer, causing the screen to light up. Twilight stared at the screen in disbelief, her fingers frozen above the keyboard. "H-how did you...but...What?" "Sweetie Belle has a device like this," explained Rarity. "Apparantly, it's becoming very popular in more technically advanced regions of Equestria, especially with the younger generation of ponies." "Wow. I need to learn more about that when we get back to Equestria," commented Twilight. She pointed to the screen, which now had two white bars marked 'Username' and 'Password'. "So, do you know what to do now? I still can't find the desktop." Rarity looked at the screen and shook her head. "From what I know, you can't do anything else unless you know the password to access the computer." Twilight's smile slowly became a very annoyed expression. "Why must computers be so complicated?" At that moment, Pinkie Pie entered the room. "What are you two doing inside? We're having a bake sale!" Twilight jumped from her seat. "How is that possible, Pinkie?" she asked. "Well, I've been doing nothing but baking cupcakes ever since I got here," shrugged Pinkie. "And human world cupcakes are just as good as Equestria cupcakes, so I figured 'why not?'." "But this house is in the middle of nowhere!" said Twilight. "No offence, Pinkie, your cupcakes are scrumptious. But who would walk all this way for just a few cupcakes?" "Don't underestimate me," smirked Pinkie, dragging the two other girls outside, where Pinkie had assembled and decorated some junkyard scraps and an old bike, forming a large wagon which was filled with cupcakes, cookies, and other sweets, as well as a ton of balloons. "Pinkie, when did you get the time to do this?" asked Twilight. "Oh, I had tons of time! When you put your mind to it, you can do a year's worth of work in under a week!" exclaimed Pinkie. "Are you indirectly saying we're being lazy?" asked Twilight, crossing her arms. "Oh, not you guys," said Pinkie. "Although, wouldn't it be a good idea to go into town and see if you can learn anything about your mission there? Think about it: you learned more from what other people told you about the situation than you did from any book or PC." Twilight took a look at the wagon filled with desserts, then at her friends, then back at the cart. "You do make a point," she finally replied. "Let's sell some baked goods!" * * * Within a few minutes, the Mane Six were in the middle of town, ready to distribute cupcakes, cookies, and cinnamon rolls to everyone that passed them. However, the streets seemed oddly empty. "Where did everyone go?" asked Pinkie. Soon, they were greeted by a mob of lizard-like monsters. "That there is your answer," replied Applejack, pointing at one of the monsters. Fluttershy let out a small scream before hiding behind the dessert wagon. Unfortunately, more of the monsters had surrounded the back of the wagon. Pinkie, who had been riding the bike attached to the wagon, turned around and started throwing cupcakes at the monsters' faces, causing them to stumble backward and away from Fluttershy. "Th-thanks. But shouldn't we see if anyone else is hurt?" Fluttershy wondered aloud. "Good point. I'll fly up and see if there are any other mobs of monsters," answered Rainbow Dash, activating her morpher. "Dino thunder, power up!" Within seconds, Dash had transformed into the yellow Dino Thunder ranger. She flew up a few feet to get a better view of her surroundings. "There!" she shouted, pointing to a nearby movie theater. "There's a ton of them over there, surrounding a group of civilians." "Um, I don't think this cupcake wagon will be able to get through all of these monsters," said Pinkie Pie, shooting chocolate chip cookies at the monsters like shurikens. "Ah reckon we better clear a path through the monsters first," decided Applejack. She ran around a small group of the dinosaur monsters with her new super speed powers, kicking each one a few times. "Good idea," exclaimed Twilight, blocking more monsters from getting too close to the cupcake wagon with her new shield-like skin. They both reached for their morphers, yelling "Dino thunder, power up!" in unison. Soon, they had transformed into the red and blue dino thunder rangers. Rarity stood as close to the cupcake wagon as she could. However, in the corner of her eye, she could see Fluttershy running deeper into the group of dinosaur monsters, hiding behind newspaper stands and streetlamps. Rarity ran toward her friend. "Fluttershy, what are you doing? This is dangerous!" Fluttershy pointed toward the movie theater. "There are people there that need our help. I'm not sure if Rainbow Dash can save them alone," whispered Fluttershy. "We have to help!" She stopped behind a bus stop to catch her breath. "Fluttershy, there is another solution." Fluttershy looked at her friend with a confused look. Rarity was holding her cell phone, and began dialing a number. Then, she held up the phone to her ear for a few moments. "...Hello? Yes, Spike, it's Rarity. Spike, there's no time! Those monsters you and the others spoke of began attacking! Yes... yes, that would be wonderful. And if you could please bring my emergency sewing kit, that would be wonderful. Yes...thank you." Rarity put down her cell phone back in her purse. "You didn't send Spike, did you?" asked Fluttershy. "Under different circumstances, I wouldn't want him to be in a dangerous situation either. However, he's the only other ranger that can help, as far as we know." Rarity had barely finished her sentence when two monsters appeared from behind her. "I think we should run," suggested Fluttershy. Rarity nodded. They both sprinted to Rainbow Dash, who was holding two triangular weapons in her hands and using them to slash the monsters away from the group of civilians. "Watch out!" warned Dash. In response, Rarity and Fluttershy stood back near the group of bystanders. "Where are the other rangers?" Rainbow dash asked. "Their still fighting off the monsters near Pinkie's cupcake wagon," explained Fluttershy. "Right when I could use a bit of help," said the yellow ranger, before getting hit with another monster. "Help is on the way!" yelled a familiar voice. Fluttershy, Rarity, and Rainbow Dash turned to the source of the voice: a black power ranger running on four legs. He jumped up and punched a monster with his front limbs before landing beside the yellow ranger. "Perfect timing," yelled Rainbow Dash, helping Spike take down more monsters. With the two rangers working together, the large mob shrank to a few monsters, who started to panic and flee. They didn't get too far, though, since they ran into the red ranger, who was wielding a large red stick. After defeating the remaining monsters, the red ranger looked around. "Is that all of 'em?" she asked. "I think so," answered the black ranger. He walked over to Rarity, and gave her a small white bag. "What's this for?" Rarity pulled a roll of cotton and some safety pins out from the bag. "I'm sure this will be useful, in case anyone was injured," she explained. Fluttershy nodded before turning to the group of people huddled near the movie theater. "The monsters are gone," she told them. "Is everyone okay? We have bandages." "And cupcakes!" yelled an energetic voice. Pinkie Pie parked her cupcake wagon near the movie theater, and caught the attention of the civilians. "Not to mention a bunch of other baked goods!" While Pinkie distracted the bystanders, the rangers unmorphed. "You know, I'm sort of glad Pinkie Pie made us have this bake sale today," Twilight thought aloud. "Yup. Who knows what those varmints would have done if we didn't show up," agreed Applejack. Twilight sighed. "If only we could have learned a bit more about why they attack, though." "Maybe we will," said Rainbow Dash, pointing to a cafe labelled 'Hayley's Cyberspace'. "That place looks familiar." Spike looked in the direction Rainbow Dash was pointing in. "Hey, that's the cafe from the show! the ones where the rangers would hang out." "I reckon we better take a closer look," suggested Applejack. The other rangers nodded. Author's Note First of all, I would like to say thank you for being very patient. I understand this chapter took a long time to make. That was due to a mix of writer's block and real-life stuff. Unfortunately, I still sort of have that writer's block, and I'm not sure how to continue on with the story. Admittedly, I'm starting to consider putting the story on hiatus (something I really don't want to do,) or asking for a co-author. Thanks for understanding.
