Journey across Equestria: Book 0 ~ Prologue

" Are ya sure it worked, Twi?" asked Applejack as she emerged from behind an upturned table that she had been using for cover.

Twilight Sparkle scratched her head in confusion, she was sure that she had performed the summoning spell to the letter. She turned the letter she had received from Celestia over and over hoping that there had been something she missed. "I don't understand why it didn't work, there must be some mistake in this spell" the lavender unicorn said as the rest of her friends emerged from their various hiding holes. Rarity and Spike emerged from the broom closet while Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash glided down from the second floor. There was a short rumble and a bright pink object shot out from the fireplace and came to a skidding halt stopping next to Applejack, that was Pinkie Pie for you.

"So you wanna run us through again on what was meant to happen" Rainbow Dash stated as she lazily rolled in the air.

"Better yet why don't you ready it to us, Sugercube" interjected Applejack as she shot an annoyed look at her Pegasus friend "That way we might be able to understand easier"

"To My faithful student..." Twilight bean to read.

I bring news of a great evil that has started to stir in our home of Equestria, Luna and I have decided that 'it' needs to be dealt with before 'it' can rear its ugly head. Now I know that you and your friends, the wielders of the elements of harmony, are strong enough to be able to defeat this foe. However the plan that we have devised is not something that I believe you will be able to perform. It is for this reason that I am sending you this summoning spell that is designed to find a creature who will be able to stop this once and for all.

This creature is called a 'Human',  they are an old race that lives in a different plane of existence. From what I have learned about them through their history is that they are an intelligent creature with an ever growing knowledge and they value customs, family and honour highly. However from what I have also learned is that they are very violent and have a tendency to solve their problems through wars and fighting.

For this reason I caution you that when you summon one to be as gently as possible and use extreme caution in what you say to them. Also once you succeed in summoning one I need you to alert me and I will handle negotiations from there.

"Signed, Princess Celestia" finished Twilight, she braced herself for the explosion of question that was sure to follow, she was not disappointed.

"She wants you summon a what?" blurted out Applejack.

"Why doesn't she want us to stop this 'thing'?" asked Rarity.

"What in the Hay is a...Human?" Rainbow Dash added.

"Ooh, I've never meet a human before, do you think they live to party? Are they friendly? What do you call a group of Human? A humanie, humany, humanses?" asked Pinkie, with of excitement growing on her face.

"Pinkie calm down, Rainbow I don't know what a 'Human' is. Rarity I am just as confused as you are, we can talk to Celestia when she comes to do what she needs to" Twilight replied, to the best of her ability "Do you know anything about humans?...Fluttershy?"

Fluttershy just sat there in silence, she slowly shook her head. "You alright  Sugercube?"  Applejack asked approaching the yellow Pegasus. She was quiet for a little bit before replying "Why don't the princesses tell us what this thing is or what it is up too?"

Twilight just shook her head, this didn't seem to reinsure her friends at all. She paused for a moment and considered how to chose her next words carefully, before she answered "There are a lot of things that the princesses don't like to explain or talk about. Like I said before, maybe we can get some answers when we next see Celestia but until then we will do as she asks". Though her friends were not happy with the response it did seem to calm them down a bit "Right now that we settled that, I am going to attempt the spell again". Before the words and finished leaving her lips her friends had already scattered to their respective hiding places.

"We'll here goes nothing" Twilight closed her eyes and began to recite the spell once more.
