Double Edge: Tales of darknessby Blue Moon24ChaptersChapter 1: Welcome to my storyChapter 2: Feeding the darknessChapter 3: Living the mundaneChapter 4 A knights tale beginsChapter 1: Welcome to my storyIdentifying them is easy; after 6 years on the Guard, it comes like a second nature, but being one of them, now thats the tricky part. Being a killer of killers does have its rewards! I take dangerous ponies off the street, at least that’s what i’ve always told myself. My name is Double edge and this is my story. Why don’t we start from the beginning? I was a young colt, had a normal life, a loving mother and father, went to school, played, all the normal things, but I had a darkness inside me, a darkness that squirmed and festered. I denied it and pushed it deep down inside me, but all that changed when I saw my mother killed; after that I let the darkness take over. I beat up all the other foals at school and I killed small animals, I just let it consume me. Until my my dad found out... “Die, die, die!” I plunged the knife into the rabbit over and over. I could feel the blood splattering my face each time I plunged the knife in. “How does it feel son?” I froze, letting the knife fall from my grip and into the grass “D-dad?” “Can you feel it son, the rush, the thrill of watching the life fade from your victim's eyes? I always knew you were like me; I could feel it deep in my soul.” Hearing that, I started to cry, and the tears streamed down my face. “Now that I know what you are son, we can head home and I can start preparing you.” My tears stopped as I turned to face him, “Prepare me for what?” He had a glint in his eye, as he grinned and said, “For your training” That day, I learned that my dad also had a darkness, but he controlled his. He learned ways to keep it at bay, and so he taught me to harness my darkness; he showed me how to kill without being caught, he also taught me to kill with a purpose and to only target other ponies like me-other psychopathic killers with a heart of darkness. My father helped me hone my technique and perfect it. Soon my dad passed on. I got over it quickly, I got a house, joined the Guard and went on with my killing, still managing to keep my darkness stilled. Now, I bet you're wondering, why does a serial killer work for the Guard? Well, it’s simple. What better way to find killers, than to be a part of the ponies who stop them; no one ever suspects a thing when a killer goes missing. Everything works out in the end. For everypony. “Hey Edge, want to come with us? We’re going to go and get some drinks.” I closed my locker, “No thanks. I’m just gonna head home. I have some business I need to take care of.” I smiled and trotted out of the barracks. “What a weird guy. Always working, and never going out. I wonder what his problem is?” I walked into my house, throwing my duffle bag onto my couch while I headed to the kitchen to pour myself a drink. “What a long day.” I took a sip and headed towards the living room, “But it’s not over yet!” I opened the bag and took out a file report. “Lets see... Center Spade a.k.a the Prench Baker. Wanted for 17 murders, victims were butchered and seemingly baked into numerous pastries” I took another sip of my drink. “Believed to be living among the vicinity of Canterlot.” ‘Under an unknown alias.’ was written on the bottom of his M.O.; I placed my glass onto the coffee table ahead of me. “No recent leads or sightings for Spade have been brought to the Guards’ attention. May be working in a lower Canterlot bakery-from an anonymous source (to be looked into).” “‘A bakery, and a pony closely fitting the description of a killer, has come to their info.’ They have done nothing! It’s amazing these guards have ever caught any criminal.” I scoffed, closing the report and stood up. I walked over to the white-framed window, holding up his some-what blurry picture with my magic, “Center Spade: another sick psycho feeding his darkness.” I sat outside Doughnut Joes, waiting to see if the anonymous tip was worth anything. “This is pointless; that tip must have been a bust.” “Hey Ace! Go sweep the front room! I’m going to go make some more cream fillers!” “I’m on it, boss!” I looked back into the shop to see a stallion walk into the front room from the back. He matched the description, there was no doubt about it; that was Spade. I smiled and whispered,“Found you.” and left for home. “Edge! Front and center!” I walked forward from the line of guards, “Sir!’ I saluted. “You will be in charge of watching the lower north side of the city today. You are to patrol your vicinity, and keep an eye out for trouble. Do you understand me?!” “Sir, yes sir” I saluted and headed off with my patrol. How lucky, it’s in the location of Spade. now I can easily keep an eye on him. I had been covering the lower north side for hours, making sure to never stray too far from the shop, and never lose sight of my target. “Hey Edge; shift change.” I looked up, to see a pegasus guard land in front of me. “Chief says it’s your break.” “Thanks.” I took off my helmet and walked away. Perfect! Here’s my opportunity to see if I can get inside his head. “ Well well, a Guard in my shop. Welcome! Would you like a bear-claw? How about an eclair? It’ll be on the house! Anything for a Guard!” “Um, heh thanks. But how about just a regular chocolate doughnut with sprinkles, please?” I said, sitting down close to Spade, ever so busily sweeping the clean floor. “So, what’s your name?” I asked, trying not to show too much interest. “Oh, it’s um Ace... Ace Diamond.” He cooed, looking at me with a nervous expression This stallion is an idiot. An obvious alias and a nervous expression when approached by a Guard. Why hasn't he been caught already!? “Ace, well I would be careful: there's been word of a dangerous criminal in this area. If you see anything, anything at all, please contact the Guard.” I got up and went to the door, with my doughnut floating close to me with my magick. “We'll be safe.” He said, as I left the building. I hung around back, behind the dumpsters filled with napkins and unfinished meals. It's time to play the waiting game. Author's Note Hey guys its me Blue Moon, but who else would it be. Anyway let me know what you guys think all comments welcome as long as there not to hateful ~ciao Chapter 2: Feeding the darknessAlright this is it... I crept my way across the street, towards the bakery where I knew Ace would be staying. I eased my way through the window, trying to make sure to not let it slam. Trotting slowly up the stairs, I made sure not to let the floorboards squeak so as not the wake my victim. I reached the top of the stairs, I viewed ahead of me three doors. Okay... Which room is it? The doors were in a Z along the hallway; two in the left and one on the right. I carefully opened the first door, just enough to peek in the room. Bingo! It was Ace's room. I crept my way to his bed, and with my magic, I moved a syringe close to his sleeping body. I plunged the needle into his neck, as I held him down, making sure he wouldn't thrash around or make any noises. His eyes shot open and he tried to sit up, but my weight was too much; it caused him to heave a little, as he slowly calmed down, his eyes falling like they were as heavy as lead. Within seconds, he was unconscious. I pulled the needle out of his neck and put it back in my saddlebag, and levitated him off the bed. "Geez! You're a hefty one. I guess all those years in a bakery weren't kind in the midsection". I made my way back downstairs and out the window, attempting to keep Ace above the ground. ---SomeTimeLater--- Ace slowly started to regain consciousness, but he could feel a tightness in his arms, legs, and chest. "Wha...what's going on? Where am I?" He started to struggle, but found he was unable to move; "HELP! SOMEONE, HELP!!" I walked into his field of vision, just enough for him to see me. When he noticed me, his screaming and thrashing stopped. "Who are you, and where am I? Please, let me go!" He tried to plead with sad eyes. "I'm afraid I can't do that, Center Spade." As soon as I said his real name, his whole attitude shifted like clockwork. "I’ll repeat myself then. Who are you, and why do you think that’s my name?" He cooed calmly. I cast a faint light above the room to illuminate it; glancing around, each wall had a layer of plastic on it to dull sounds. I was wearing a black apron and gloves over my hooves, I surely wouldn't want to make a mess of myself! With a small inward chuckle, I introduced myself: "I am Double Edge, and I'm just as monstrous as you." He laughed at me, "Hah! I know you! You're that guard from yesterday. So what, are you going to interrogate me and make me confess?" He continued to laugh as I walked over to a table on the far side of the room. "Only guilty ponies have something to confess." I picked up a knife from the table and held it in my hooves; it always felt better than picking it up with magic. I walked back to the victim’s table, as Spade was being held down using straps that I had whipped up while he was still laughing. I loomed over him my hoof firmly gripping the knife handle. With a single movement, I plunged into his leg and his twisted laughing turned into writhing screams of pain. "You son of a bitch!" He kept screaming. The restraints kept him in place, as I pulled the knife out; I could smell the fresh blood coating the blade. I wiped the knife clean on my apron and noticed Spade had replaced his screams with heavy breathing, "What kind of bastard guard are you!?" "I’m no guard. I just pretend to be one. In all actuality, I'm the same as you; a twisted psychopath looking for his kill. It just so happens that you were picked to be on my table." I drove the blade into his abdomen, tilting it against his flesh, "So, how does it feel to be on the other end of the blade?" I furrow my eyebrows and grin. Spade began to sputter and cough a trail of blood flowing from the corner of his mouth. As he wheezed for air, his eyes were locked into a permanent stare, as the life faded, a small smile formed just as he released his last breath. "Damn, must they always die with a smile?" I pulled the knife out of his chest and undid the bonds on his body. I wiped the blood from my weapon on his coat and put it back on the table. "Now, it's time for the messy part," and reached for my saw. ---SeveralHoursLater--- I turn from the Canterlot bluffs and hear the telltale howl of a Timber wolf and smile. Another psychopath doesn't see his day end. Author's Note Well here we are chapter two and might I say it gives me shudders let me know what you guys think in the comments, thanks to for editing firestar4ever90 -Ciao Chapter 3: Living the mundaneWork. Everypony has a job that they do and some love it; it’s usually their special talent or reflects it. "Edge you’re late, where the hell have you been!?" Except me; I hate my job. It's 8 straight hours of getting yelled at, and standing around like a statue while stuck up nobles scoff at you. "Sorry sir, I overslept" I stepped forward, lazily yawning. "Damnit, Edge. What am I gonna do with you? This is the third time you've been late! And I hear you left your post the other day for doughnuts?!" Ah, captain Broad Slash-the sunshine of my day; the pegasus in charge of the entire solar guard and a giant jackass. He's been my mortal enemy since day one; I guess beating him at sparring didn't leave a good impression on his ego. He kept yelling, while I zoned out, thinking of mundane things; I looked around at anything that would catch my eye, soon, I noticed a figure on the roof. "Edge are you even listening to me!?" His voice got louder as he slammed his hoof down on the floor. "Captain Slash, as much as I would love being yelled at, I think there are more pressing matters at hoof," and I looked towards the rooftops where the figure was jumping from roof to roof along the castle. "Ugh, men, apprehend that pony! And you, Edge. Don't think I'm done talking with you," with that he flew off. "Well, now that that's taken care of..." I walked out of the barracks and into the garden; hopefully nopony will find me, and I can take the rest of the day off. The canterlot gardens were known for its beauty and exotic creatures, most have to pay hundreds of bits to enter and see it, but only if you’re seen. I sat myself down under a tree and took off my helmet, letting my mane fall a little bit. Most days, being a guard is bearable, even with the captains yelling and the stupid nobles, but today just feels off, like the weight of the world is on my shoulders and is trying to crush me. "What is wrong with me?" "I don't know what is wrong with you?" "Gah!" An upside down face appeared in front of mine, making me sit up and smack into it, "Ow! Watch where you stick that horn." The pony dropped from the tree, "you'll poke someponys eye out! Minus you and your horn, I'm Furatus Nocte." I skimmed a look at her; she was a Pegasus pony from the night guard, judging from her armor and bat wings. "What are you doing here? I thought the night guard was to stay in the east side of the castle at al-" "Psha, says the colt who just ditched his post to avoid work! Tell ya what, you don't tell my Captain, I won't tell yours. Deal?" She interrupted so quickly, my words seemed like they were still floating in the air. A night guard, the polar opposite of the solar guard. A bunch of rowdy pegasi who don’t take anything seriously. Their Captain, the infamous Star Caster, was known for her magic in weaponry, and, luckily her good looks made it easier to handle her attitude. "Fine. But what are you doing here? I thought the night guard was restricted to the roof tops and the inner castle?" My eyebrow twitched up, as she swished her tail back and forth in amusement, "I could ask you the same! I could have sworn the solar guard were stuck patrolling the city and its walls. So, the question is, what are you doing in the garden? Hmm?" She squinted her eyes in a serious face. "Nothing. So why don't you just fly away and pretend you never saw me," I sat back down and closed my eyes. "Hah! Only if I wanted to. You’re not the only one who likes to ditch work," She laughed while flying back up to her branch in the tree. "Plus; I was here first." I ignored her, I didn't care if she stuck around. It wasn't causing me any problems, besides annoyance, so I let my mind wander. At least I tried to, but I could hear a noise from above saying, "hey, are you listening to me?" "No, I'm actually trying to ignore you," I said flatly, rolling over onto my side. ”Hmpf, rude! I was trying to ask what you did that made your Captain so furious with you?" I looked up at her, and she was giving me her biggest sad eyes and even had her cheeks puffed out. *Sigh*, "If you must know...” Since you won’t quit bugging me... “I was late for my duties this morning and I Left my post yesterday." She chuckled and scoffed, "Wow! you’re a lousy guard. You cracked way faster than I thought you would; I barely even tried on that face!" she started laughing, nearly falling out of the tree. ....I hate this mare. ---LowerCanterlot--- "Help! Somepony help me!" A stallion screamed, running through the slums of Canterlot. "Come back ye nave, and face me like a true stallion!" A Pegasus shouts in a gruff accent, chasing the earth pony with tremendous speed. The stallion turned a corner, but was treated to a dead end; he tried to climb the wall, only to be greeted by a cruel reality, "I have finally caught up with thou!" the Pegasus stood on his hind legs, his body fully clad in armor, "I will make thy death swift." He reached towards his flank, drawing a large sword. "I will give thee but a fair minute to pray to her holiness," he raised his sword, taking a stance. The stallion just sat there, crying, while watching his life flash before his eyes. The last thing he remembered was receiving a letter from an unknown pony with a challenge to do duel, and now he knew it wasn't just some joke, and that it was real. This was the end of his life. The Pegasus brought his sword down on his head killing him, he cleaned his blade of the blood and sheathed it, he pumped his wings and started to fly away not looking back. Author's Note Well this is chapter three its been sitting in my docs for months so i decide to post here for you guys (any of you that still follow that is) so tell me whats wrong or if anything needs changing Chapter 4 A knights tale beginsOk I really, really hate this mare, normally my time in the gardens is spent relaxing, sleeping and planning my next victims, but she just doesn’t let up. “So why did you join the guard anyway?” She asked as she sat across from me having taken off her helmet to get more comfortable. “I could as you the same question” I answered not even bothering to open my eyes. “Aww come on just answer the question, what; did you always dream about being the big hero of equestria?” she said mockingly “or maybe you heard the call to serve your country” “If you must know I joined because it's the only job that interested me” I lied well only half lied the job did interest me, but not for the reasons most ponies join the guard. “Oh yeah well, doesn’t seem like it to me” she looked directly at me “I mean what serious guard sneaks away from job every chance he gets to sit in the gardens?” She said pointing her hoof at me. I opened my eyes and looked at her “How do you know I come out here every chance I get if this is the first time we’ve meet?” I asked suspiciously, who was this mare? She back peddled her face scrunched as she tried to find some words, “ I-I do a lot of patrols around here y-yeah and I see you all the time”. She was lying it was obvious, but why? Was she keeping tabs on me, how long has she been watching me. I tensed up and scooted away from her “ look I have to go, so miss Nocte I suggest you do the same before we both get busted for slacking off,” I stood up placing my helmet on, before making for the exit Furtus Nocte i'll definitely need to look into her. --Lower Canterlot-- The scene was gruesome to say the least one stallion cut down in an alleyway, in broad daylight. Several witnesses say they heard a stallion scream that was when we stumbled upon the victim an earth pony stallion, his head sporting a wicked gash right down the middle between his eyes. Blood sprayed across the scene, whoever had done this was a sick individual indeed. “Alright I want this alleyway swept for any evidence that we can find” captain broad slash ordered. “ And somepony find me Double Edge!” He said before leaving the alley. “I’m here captain what do you need?” I said running on the scene having been alerted to the murder. “Edge where the hell have you been this was your section of the city, but reports say there was no guard in this area all morning!” He yelled the veins in his head popping out, and his eyes sporting a nice red tinge. “Look chief I..” “I don't wanna hear it, you're doing a lot of slacking off lately and i've had it up to hear with it you’re here by on suspension from duty” he took my badge off my chestplate “ Until such a time that I feel you can resume your duties like a proper guard and not like a lazy ass hole, now get out of here this is a closed crime scene.” He turned around and left. I couldn’t believe it I never thought this would happen as much as I didn’t like my job it was the only way got ahold of the information I needed to do my work and now I was cut off from it. I could feel the rage building up inside me and all I could think of was going after the captain to beat him into the ground and watch as his face twisted into a bloody mess. I took a step towards the alley my mind clouded by rage I wanted to hurt him. I stood in the front of the alley and as soon as i saw the scene my mind shifted all the anger start to disappear. This wasn't some random murder no this was a pony like him another had popped up, but in the middle of the day? I needed to get closer, there was no way the other guards knew I was suspended yet. I walked into the alley there and headed straight for the body it was a mess, blood splattered the wall and his brain was visible through his skull, whoever had done this was strong and fast if they were able to get away in the middle of the day. “it's sick isn't it?” I jumped at the voice, not noticing the pony to my side with a camera. “Woah there easy buddy I'm just the forensics guy my names quick shot” he said showing me his I.D badge. “Sorry I didn't see you there I was distracted by the body.” “Yeah I understand it's a sight alright, I mean what pony could do this to another,” he said taking a shot with his camera “I mean to kill some pony so brutally like this is the work of tartrus itself.” He continued to take pictures of the scene and the rest of the guards collected evidence there wasn't much here, nothing that I could use I would just have to wait and see. ‘But wait I'm on suspension which means I can't go through the collected evidence’ I thought ‘unless is sneak in’ I smiled to myself. Looks like the guard station is about to have a late night visiter. Author's Note Wow I like how this chapter came out and I'm glad to be writing this story again . Let me know if anything needs fixing and how it is

Chapter 3: Living the mundaneWork. Author's Note Well this is chapter three its been sitting in my docs for months so i decide to post here for you guys (any of you that still follow that is) so tell me whats wrong or if anything needs changing
Chapter 4 A knights tale beginsOk I really, really hate this mare, normally my time in the gardens is spent relaxing, sleeping and planning my next victims, but she just doesn’t let up.
