Prologue – A light to fight the shadows

Unlocking the door to the small nature ridden house, Fluttershy entered her humble, yet slightly cold abode. Unintentionally allowing a small gathering of frosty sprinkles to follow her through the open door as she did so, causing her to let out a small gasp muttering under her breath as she fought back a violent shiver.

On other nights this kind of cold would have bothered the little yellow mare, she would always get a few logs from outside to put on the open fire when it got cold and frosty. She and Angel bunny would always just sit there in front of the cozy fireplace, often with many other fury creatures and simply enjoy one another’s company basking in the heat of the fire while the winds scratched gently at the door as if it were a small puppy begging to be let inside to join the cozy gathering within the cottage. No one would blame it, the feeling inside that place was pure serenity and the animals all knew it. Sometimes she would even read stories to them like ‘Little red riding mare’ until the combination of soft storytelling and warmth put them all gently to sleep.

But tonight, Fluttershy just wasn’t feeling it. She didn’t want to stay up, even though it wasn’t that late, she just wanted to sleep. To think the day through a little in her mind snugged up in her cosy bed away from the cold ferocious teeth of the world outside. And away from anypony who could see her like this.

There was a usually faint but none the less beautiful glow about Fluttershy’s persona. Though as the name implied she wasn’t the loudest pony on the planet, easily anxious, especially under the eyes of a crowd. But she had some level of, humbleness many others lacked. A devotion which she carried about her.

Kindness that was the glow she always unconsciously emitted to everyone around her, ponies and animals alike. Maybe it was nothing, just the poor lighting of the dimly lit cottage and the cold ferocious storm brewing outside, but that evening no such glow could be felt by even the smallest of creatures.

No gathering was here tonight, just her and Angel. And the small little bunny knew exactly what ailed her timid master.
