Falling

Crisp, orange leaves of autumn floated down beside me, as if it were trying to place a hand on my shoulder and comfort me; I stared towards the sunset, the sun dazzled, performing its final dance before the moon covered the land with it’s mysterious, yet beautiful silvery light, I felt like the moon, beautiful and mysterious on the inside, but shunned and loathed on the outside, none understood who I was, their ignorant minds just pointed and said I was a fool, an idiot, who didn’t know any better, and that I should just die to rid this world of my filth… Hypocrites, they think that they are perfect, yet they are worse than I am.

I sighed; why does no one care or love me? What have I done to deserve this hate? I opened my brown, wrinkled bag and pulled out a book, this book had no name, it was just a plain, leather bound book, but I opened its first dusty page, the dust flew out in all directions, eager to tell me about the adventures in the book, I ignored them, for I have read this ancient book so many times, just for a different ending… Yet the same ending comes every time, an ending filled with sadness, hopelessness, and despair, yet even if I could not change the ending, why cannot I go there and comfort those grieving people inside those dusty pages?

I read the rather short book, I sighed a depressed sigh, a sigh filled with sadness and tears; why cannot I comfort her? I constantly banged on the wall, the wall between the world of creativity and harsh, cruel reality. The wall that you smash your fists onto, always cracking, but never breaking, I sat there, constantly hitting that wall, while the whistling wind rustled the tree’s leaves, causing additional leaves to fall beside me, as the trees rustled, the whistling wind whispered comforting thoughts into my ears as I constantly attacked the invisible barrier. While I was fighting that wall, night had come with its beauty and mystery; my only friend inside this cruel world.

As the moon revealed itself among the clouds, it bathed me in its silver light, I thanked the moon and night, for they are both one; the night inquisitively asked me “What’s wrong, has something happened?” I replied in a depressed tone “The book, I wish I can comfort the characters inside, but the barrier that cracks but never breaks prevents me, why cannot I prevail over it? Why?” “Do not fret over it, you will eventually find the answers within the book, that is why a gave it to you after all” sighed the night in a tone of pity, I sighed again, then spoke, “I suppose you are right, but do you think you can leave me for just a moment, I need to be with my thoughts for a little bit” The night smiled and nodded, then went away.

During that small conversation I was unaware that the wall was starting to break, I quickly released this, then with my mind I pushed down upon it harder and harder, the wall was not used to such persistence, thus it did not just crack, but small pieces broke away, like a sky, brimming with stars, while an unknown force flicks some of the stars into the blueness their diamond like shine gone; I carried on my assault upon the wall, until somehow it broke away. Suddenly, I found myself tumbling through some kind of tunnel then, smack! I groaned like a stiff board, then I looked up, where am I? And what happened? From somewhere behind me someone was sobbing, I silently stood up and looked behind me… Impossible she did not exist, but only within, the book.

The be continued...
