My Little Pony: Origin
Origins of the Six
Load Full StoryIt was a typical day in the Everfree Forest. Timberwolves were staring at innocent ponies, Zecora was making a brew, and six animals were having a good meeting. Let's focus on those six animals. The obvious leader of the group was an Owl named Night Light. She loved to read the inscriptions on the trees, and was the smartest of the group. Then there was a brown bunny staring longingly at the sky as she talked. Her name was Leaping Flower, and she had a secret wish to grow wings and fly. There, looking at herself in the reflection of a puddle, was Grace. She fancied herself the most beautiful doe in all the land. Looking a little out of place, was a chicken. She nervously clucked as she thought of becoming Treasure's dinner. Treasure was a wolf. Not a Timberwolf, but just a normal wolf. She was the last of her kind, and it was horribly sad. She always noticed how uncomfortable Dahlia was around her, as if she was a carnivore. Oh, she was. And the final member of their merry band, was a perky squirrel. Her name was Boundless Acorn the Squirrel. They were all deep into a conversation about the appearance of Zecora.
"We should welcome her into our woods. I mean, it's not like she's going to hurt us." Boundless reasoned. Dahlia, Treasure, Grace, and Night Light nodded in agreement. Only Leaping Flower disagreed.
"She's on our territory! We worked hard to get this close to Ponyville! I don't think we should let her do this!" she cried out in protest. Boundless whispered something in her ear, and she lightened up.
"Yeah, yeah. Fine. Let's make a stupid gift basket." she mumbled, angrily hopping off to collect some Heart's Desire for the basket. Night flew off to weave the basket together, while Grace and Dahila began to collect and form clay. Treasure sat, considering what she should add to the basket. Finding some Timberwolves looking at her inappropriately, she decided to add some enchanted twigs to the basket. She softly growled to the Timberwolves, and seductively trotted off into a more secluded spot.
After an hour of basket weaving, flower picking, Timberwolf beating, and sculpture making, the merry band of misfits entered their clearing once more. Night placed the basket in the center of their circle, and waited for the others' contributions. Flower placed some Heart's Desire and Poison Joke into the basket, then hopped away. Grace put a beautiful mask into the basket. It was perfection, nothing would go under the standard of perfect for her. Dahlia placed a feathery water cup in the basket. Boundless put in some of her best seeds and acorns. It was a good gesture, especially since winter was coming close. Finally, Treasure placed the enchanted sticks of Timberwolves. Night did some rearranging, and it looked like perfection. With not another second to spare, Night and the others carried the basket towards the zebra's tribal hut. Grace, being the most like a pony, stepped up first and knocked on the door. Zecora answered the door.
"If I am the zebra that you seek, make sure you are careful as you speak." she warned, seeing the Poison Joke. Grace chuckled nervously, and Flower stepped up.
"Chill, we're just giving you a gift basket for you moving into the Everfree Forest from the eastern side of Equestria. I got the Poison Joke for you to make an antidote of in case some animal gets infected." the bunny explained, barely showing her irritation. Grinning, Zecora took the basket, and welcomed them inside her hut. As they made themselves at home, the zebra began to organize her new supplies.
"I thank you for this pleasant surprise, but the truth is I am not so wise." she confessed as she tied the sticks Treasure got into a bigger stick to stir her cauldron.
"That's okay. I know a lot about stuff like that. I could teach you about it all." Night Light offered. Zecora accepted, and without a doubt, their new neighbor would definitely be a good friend.
It had been several days, and Zecora no longer needed Night Light's help to create new brews. It was the creatures' birthdays today, and she had seen them admiring the earth ponies, unicorns, and pegasi. She had created a special brew that made them into ponies for one day. It had some drawbacks if they stayed ponies for more than one day.
"Welcome one and all, and I have a gift that's the best of all." Zecora rhymed her way over to the six friends. She gave each one of them a different sized bottle. The zebra had taken special measure to figure out the dosage. Flower downed it quikly, not even questioning what it was.
"Woah, I feel funny." she slurred, then promptly passed out face first. The others looked shocked, and put their potions down.
"Zecora! What did you do?" exclaimed Grace, worried for her fluffy tailed friend. Zecora shook her head, as if she would want to hurt her friends.
"There is no need to worry, just watch and you will see." she murmured. A blue magical light enveloped the bunny, and she began to change. Flower was no longer a bunny, but a brown earth pony with white mane and tail. She even had a Cutie Mark. It was a bunny.
"Oh, wow! This is the bets present ever!" exclaimed Flower in her new pony voice. Dahlia was the next to try, seeing to it that her best friend wasn't a pony alone. Her pony form was also an earth pony, but she had a white coat and red mane and tail.
"I guess I could get used to this..." she mumbled. Treasure and Boundless took theirs together, clinking their glasses ceremoniously. Treasure became a grey unicorn and a blue mane and tail. Her Cutie Mark showed two yellow eyes. Boundless took on the form of a green unicorn and a simple brown mane and tail with an acorn Cutie Mark.
"Nice!"
"Yehaw!"
Night Light saw her friends new forms, and hypothesized that she would become a pegasus. She went next, putting her hypothesis to the test. It was proved correct, as Night Light turned into a black pegasus with a yellow mane and tail.
"My hypothesis was correct!" she cheered. Last was Grace. She wasn't exactly fond of ponies, just their fashion senses and clothing. The deer took a deep breath, and then chugged down the potion. She didn't change much. She became a blush pink pegasus with a silver mane and tail.
"Okay girls, let's go to Ponyville! I saw some wonderful hats there we could try!" Grace cheered, happy to get the ordeal over with.
Everypony walked into Ponyville's main attraction, the Cupcake Corner. They were puzzled. They had never seen or heard of a cupcake before. As they entered the store, they were greeted by Mr. and Mrs.Cake.
"Welcome to Cupcake Corner! How may I help you?" asked the blue mare.
"Well, we would like six cupcakes, but we're new to town and don't have any money." said Boundless sadly, her head sagging. Mrs.Cake looked at these strange new ponies, and then called in her husband.
"Honey, I need you to make these new mares some of our famous Ponyville 'Welcome' cupcakes." she said. The blocky orange stallion nodded, then walked off to the back room that was presumably the kitchen. Boundless perked up right away.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you!" she cheered, jumping up and down excitedly. Only after Grace and Dahlia calmed Boundless down did the cupcakes finish. The mares greatfully gobbled down the cupcakes. Night Light thanked the Cakes, and then they left Cupcake Corner.
Outside, the pegasi were beggining to assemble some rain clouds. As the storm began, the mares felt a sense of wonder and awe. These ponies did everything! Make it rain, take the leaves off the trees, and even wrap winter up! It was something that they wished they could be a part of. Flower got an idea. A idea that Zecora would not approve of.
"Hey girls, how about we don't take the antidote?" she asked. The others looked at each other, then all nodded. Why not? They wanted to be ponies forever, and they didn't want to go back to being a wolf, a deer, a rabbit, an owl, a chicken, and a squirrel. They made a plan to go run away from the Forest. They would stowaway on the train. Grace would make a distraction, while the others would sneak on. Then at the final moment, she would leap on too.
The plan worked perfectly, and they were on their way to Canterlot! But, as night fell, something just wasn't right.
"Guys, did anypony notice that we're shrinking? A lot?" asked Night Light, seeing that she was now the size of a teenager. Everypony else checked themselves as well, and they WERE shrinking. Little did they know, they were becoming younger. The mares walked around Canterlot, oohhing and aahhing at all the wondrous sights. They learned what a clock was, and how rainbows were made, and Night Light even got to go inside a REAL library. Everypony was having a good time, that is, until midnight struck. With each bong of the royal clock, they began to feel dizzy. They all passed out, and then, true magic began. Everypony was teleported to different places and changed forms. They all became fillies again, but their species was changed. Boundless Energy was sent to a rock farm, now a bright pink earth pony. Jumping Flower was changed into a cyan pegasus with a rainbow mane. Grace was sent back to Ponyville, but as a white unicorn. Treasure was also sent back to Ponyville, but she was transformed into an orange earth pony. Dahlia was sent up into Cloudsdale as a yellow pegasus. Night Light stayed in Canterlot, and she was given a unicorn's horn, with her wings hidden, to be discovered later. This is the true origins of the main six.
The End
