Chapters Fluttershy was feeding and playing with her animals when she saw a blue blur zoom by. It could only be one pony. Rainbow Dash. She claims to be the fastest flyer in Equestria. Fluttershy believed it. She was doing her routine, like always.
"Wow" she said. "Rainbow Dash!" She 'shouted'. The cyan mare failed to notice Fluttershy due to the yellow mare's natural quietness mixed with her amazing speed made it impossible to hear almost anypony, and she headed to town for hay fries. "Oh Angel, isn't she just, amazing?" Angel rolled his eyes. He had heard that a dozen times before.

The next day, Fluttershy was on her way to buy some carrots when she saw Rainbow busting clouds above town hall.
"Truly amazing." she whispered to herself. But when Dash looked down, Fluttershy trotted away.
"Fluttershy!" Dash shouted. She could notice that yellow coat anywhere.
"Oh, hello Rainbow." she softly said.
"What brings you to town?" she asked
"Oh I'm getting some carrots for a special salad. Angel Bunny is being choosy again." Dash bit on her tongue so she wouldn't call that bunny bucking picky.
"Ok, you do that, I have to go bust some clouds around Sweet Apple Acres. Bye, Fluttershy!" and with that, she was gone.
"Bye." she said, but once again , was too quiet. She heaved a sigh and went to buy carrots for a rather picky eater.
Fluttershy didn't know why Rainbow Dash wasn't in the Wonderbolts yet, or why she wasn't in at least an academy. Fluttershy just knew she is amazing. She saw Dash do her routine every day, and Fluttershy watched every day, considering she did it so close to her cottage. Fluttershy was day dreaming a little to much. She was drowning her daises.

Rainbow was reading The Adventures of Daring Do when she heard a knock at her fluffy cloud door. She opened it to find a mail pony.
"Are you Rainbow Dash?" He said in a sleepy voice.
"Yeah!" She said as if she thought he would know.
"Then this is for you." And as soon as Dash got the letter, he flew off. She ripped open the envelope and read the letter out loud.
"Dear Rainbow,
Wow! Your flying looked amazing today! I don't think you've noticed, but I've been watching and cheering. I just don't think I'm loud enough for you to hear. I know what you could add to your routine, um, if you don't mind. A Sonic Rainboom! That would be so cool!
From, Fluttershy"
"Huh, a Sonic Rainboom wouldn't be to bad!" So she jumped into bed and dreamed about Sonic Rainbooms.

This time, Fluttershy was watching the blue pegasus teach Scootalo how to fly. She was a good teacher. She could have used a teacher like that when she was a filly.
"Hey Fluttershy!" She called out well Scootalo left. "What's up?" She asked.
"Oh nothing much, just wanted to take a stroll."
"Cool, I heard Rarity's having a hard time with Opal."
"Oh! Okay! Bye!" She said excitedly. "Bye!"
After Fluttershy got Opal off of Rarity's flank, she went back to her cottage. She felt strange, she had never felt that way before. She didn't know what it meant, but it was bothering her. A lot.
"Ohhhhh what does mean?" Angel just shrugged and stared at her.
That night, she laid awake that night- unable to sleep. She let out a cry of anger. Her brain was now fludded with this unknown feeling making it impossible to sleep.
Then she heard wind, no. That's too fast and sudden. She looked out the window. It was a rainbow coloured mane. Rainbow Dash.
"Why is she out so late?" She questioned herself. Suddenly the feeling became stronger, and she felt warmth rise into her cheeks.
She watched for hours as Rainbow flew for hours. Watching her caused her to fall asleep on the window. When she woke up, she was on the floor under the window.
"Oh, wh-" them she remembered she had been watching Rainbow Dash fly- in the middle of the night?!
She looked outside. Rainbow Dash was sleeping on a stump outside her cottage.
"Oh we should get her inside!" She cried. She picked up the cyan mare and took her inside her cottage.
She put her In her own bed and prepared breakfast for when she got up.
About an hour later, Rainbow Dash stirred. She woke up to find herself in Fluttershy's cottage. She walked into the kitchen where Fluttershy made a breakfast for her. "Ummm what happened?"
"Oh you were out late flying and you fell asleep on a stump so when I woke up and saw you I took you inside." She explained.
"Oh"
Why were you up flying really late anyways?" Fluttershy asked.
"I don't really know, actually."
"Huh?"
"Mmmm... This is good" she said, pointing at the food Fluttershy made.
"Thank you, it took me a few tries, but I got it just right."
"Hmmmm" Fluttershy mumbled as she looked at Rainbow. She looked nervous.
"Are you sure you were just 'flying' and you don't know why?" She cocked her head.
"Weeeellllll" Rainbow said admittedly. "A little while ago, a pegasus claimed to have done a Sonic Rainboom about 20 seconds after another Sonic Rainboom!" She cried "and he's going to preform it for the next Best young Flyers competition!" Fluttershy thought about that.
"Do you really believe he can really do that? It's hard enough doing one Sonic Rainboom." She calmly said.
"Real or or not, I'm not taking any chances!" She cried.
"Well........" Her voice trailed off. Dash's dark pink eyes seemed to put her in a trance.
"Well what?" Rainbow said her hoofs waving in the air. Fluttershy shook her head.
"Um... Well don't get to wound up in this. It could be making him look better like Trixi."
"I guess you're right. I hope it's just a lie."
"W-what?" Fluttershy stammered. She had been gazing into Dash's eyes, tuning out the rest of the world. "Oh, yes. Glad I could help..." She had not heard Rainbow before.
"You ok, Shy?" She asked.
"Y-yes, I'm fine. She reassured.
"Thanks for the talk Fluttershy, but I'm gonna head out." Dash said.
"Okay, Maybe I'll see you around town." Fluttershy said.
"bye!" And the cyan pegasus was gone. Fluttershy watched her go. She watched the sky when the blue mare was long gone. The shy pony would have watched past lunch if it wasn't for Angel who nudged her in the left foreleg.
Angel was concerned about the way Fluttershy had been acting for the past few days. She hadn't seemed as focused on what she was doing when..... only one pony was with her. Only one single pony made her like this. 'Oh' , Angel thought.
Fluttershy needed to find out what it was, that feeling was going to make her head explode! The pink maned pony was on her way to town when she saw Rainbow Dash, practicing. Trying to pull off the Sonic Rainboom over and over. She gave up, and went back to her normal routine. Part way through, Fluttershy noticed her mouth had dropped open. She quickly closed it, and headed off to town. Blushing.
Fluttershy quickly brushed it off, before anypony could see it. She didn't even know why it was there. Fluttershy was on a mission. She needed to figure out what that feeling is. She didn't want any more sleepless nights.
She wasn't hungry, tired, scared (she had felt that before), bored. Fluttershy was getting frustrated. Then she saw a cyan pegasus flying around. She smiled. Wait. She thought. Could it be true? Did she...... Have a crush on that cyan mare? Her eyes widened. How did she not notice before!!! It should have been a feeling that should have been noticed when she first got it!
She had to admit, Rainbow Dash was beautiful. A cyan coat? She had never seen anything like before she met her! And wow. A rainbow mane is beautiful and rare! And those dark pink eyes just seem to put her in trances! And just like her, she was a pegasus.
She ran home like a filly running home from school for summer break.
"Oh Angel! I have a crush on Rainbow Dash!" Angel raised an eyebrow. "Oh, did you know already?" Both of Angel's eyebrows sunk into a poker face and nodded. "I guess it's kind of noticeable. I just hope Rainbow doesn't know. It could ruin our friendship." She stated worriedly.

Rainbow Dash was laying on her bead. Something was bothering her. Back in flight school, she had kind of developed feeling for the yellow coated filly. Through the years she had forgotten about it. It seemed she was starting to get them back. Yes, she had a crush on Fluttershy. Of all the ponies, she fell for her. And now that they were mares, she fell for her even harder. No, they weren't alike, but Dash belived they would be a perfect couple, but only if she loved her back. Her ears drooped. What were the chances Fluttershy was into mares?
"Ohhhhh......." The yellow pegasus muttered. "She's probably not even in to mares!" Fluttershy's ears drooped.
"How will I tell her?"
Both seemed to say in unison, in different spots, unaware of each other.
That night all Fluttershy could see was- Rainbow Dash and her dark pink eyes. All Rainbow could think about was, well, Fluttershy and her pine eyes. She hated when she saw tears behind those eyes. She ended up tearing up herself in her sleep, unaware of it.

"Whaa-" The blue pegasus woke up to her own face- which was covered with tears and sweat. "Gaa!!" She yelped, scrambling to the bathroom to make herself presentable and cool, like that never happened.
Most ponies cant concentrate to do what they do best when something's on thier mind, unless you're Pinky Pie. Twilight would have preformed the wrong spells. Rarity would have put the stitches in the wrong spot, let alone holding her levitation spell. Applejack would have missed the trees and most likely knocked over a bucket of apples, like when Apple Buck Season took place.
This seemed to be the case for Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash. Fluttershy kept giving her animals the wrong food, which resulted in a smack in the face from Angel.
A pegasus flying distracted is their worst nightmare. Especially for Rainbow Dash. With her speed, things can hurt. That resulted in flying into a few trees and mountains.
They were both thinking about their crushes.
When Fluttershy finally got everything right, she headed to the market for a small bag of birdseed, well Rainbow was desperately needing some bandages, headed to the market as well.
Fluttershy was tucking a bag of birdseed into her saddlebag when she almost ran into a cyan pony. She looked up to see Rainbow Dash, rubbing her forehead with her hoof where there was a bandage. Fluttershy put a hoof to her mouth.
"Oh! R-R-Rainbow Dash! Are you um, okay?" She asked in horror. Rainbow realized who she was talking to and flared her wings.
"O-of course I'm eh, okay!" It was normal to hear Fluttershy stammer during a conversation, but Rainbow, not so much.
"Rainbow, you're talking differently." She tilted her head.
"I'm fine! Eh, a hit to a tree must have messed with um, my h-head." She stated, hoping it wouldn't give Fluttershy suspicions.
"O-oh, Iya, have to go!" Fluttershy blurted. And she headed to the outskirts of town.
You idiot, Fluttershy! If you keep this up, you won't be able to talk to her! she thought.
Fluttershy didn't understand why her true love came to this, all she knew was she loved her. She had thought of her whole future with her before, and if they got married, her life would be complete. Almost.
She smiled. A blush formed across her face. She was looking at a photo album full of her and her cyan friend when they fillies up to teenagers. They had stuck to each other no madder what, their friendship lived on. They would be a perfect couple, but only if she loved her back.
Suddenly she heard a loud boom. She looked outside and saw a colourful ring spreading across the sky. A giant smile spread across her face as she couldn't contain her excitement and started rapidly jumping up and down yelling "YAA RAINBOW DASH!!! A SONIC RAINBOOM!!!! " another loud boom cut her cheering and a even wider smile crossed her face. She thought it might just jump off her face. "YAAAAAYYY RAINBOW!!! SONIC RAINBOOMS!!!!! "
Rainbow felt good. No. Amazing! She had just achieved her first 2 goals: Sonic Rainbooms and impress Fluttershy. She had heard Fluttershy from there.
"Dear sweet Celestia, I love her. If only she loved me." Rainbow said, her ears drooping.
Fluttershy wanted to take a walk in the Everfree Forest. She needed to visit her animal friends who lived there. Little did she know bad things were going to happen throughout the course of the week.
It was ten minutes after Fluttershy had entered the Everfree Forest. She was scared to go in, but she had the stare on her side. But the stare doesn't always work.
Fluttershy was walking when she heard rustling in the bushes. That got a "EEP!" Out of Fluttershy. "W-who's there?" To to her surprise, a terrible creature didn't come from the bushes. A black stallion came into view. "Oh, it's just a pony" she said. Before anything else happened, the stallion threw a punch at Fluttershy's face. She was thrown back. "W-why are you doings this?" She sobbed, clutching her face, that now formed a purple bruise.
"I'm a thug. And thugs like to kill." He exclaimed.
"P-Please don't hurt me!" She cried.
"why would I not hurt you? I said I'm a thug." That felt like an arrow to the heart. The stallion was going to kill her right here, right now.
"Owww." She managed to stammer. He flew over to her, showing he was a pegasus, and whispered it her ear "Any last words?"
She tried flying away, but the stallion grabbed her wing, pulling a few feathers out of her wing. She wrenched in pain.
"Don't even think about it." She did the only think she could think of. Scream.
Rainbow Dash was flying casually when she heard a high pitched scream. Fluttershy? Since when was she able get to that sound level? Never Mind that she sounds in trouble! she followed the scream that lead to the Everfree Forest. Oh no.
When Rainbow reached the clearing where Fluttershy was being assaulted, what she saw made her anger rise over the top. She flew higher in the air. She wasn't running away, she was protecting the butter coloured mare she loved. When she thought she was high enough, she dove down.
When Fluttershy thought she had lost all hope, she waited for the final hit. But then she heard a high pitched whistling noise followed by a loud boom.
"GET YOUR DAMN HANDS OFF OF HER!" An all to familiar voice rang out.
Everything seemed to go in slow motion for Fluttershy. Rainbow Dash was kicking the stallion in the cheek.The impact had been so hard that blood was coming out of a wound that appeared where her hoof hit. The stallion seemed to have passed out all ready. Everything sped up again to normal speed. The attacker was a few metres away from her and Rainbows back leg was drenched with the stallion's blood.
Fluttershy didn't even think, and she wrapped her arms around the cyan wonder and started sobbing when realized her injuries were hurting her like hell.
"It's okay, I'm here." Rainbow Dash said. She realized Fluttershy had some bad injuries, so she took her back to her cottage.
The most adorable thing ever. Fluttershy was all bandaged up, with those cute helpless eyes. Rainbow tunned in when she saw Fluttershy's lips moving. "Oh Rainbow Dash! I don't know if I can ever repay you!!!!" She sobbed. "It's okay, you don't need to" Rainbow reassured. "B-".
"No buts." The blue pegasus put a hoof over Fluttershy's mouth. Fluttershy just closed her eyes. The warmness of her hoof felt amazing.
Rainbow noticed Fluttershy had fell asleep in her arm, so she planted a kiss on her head, where Fluttershy couldn't feel it. Dash placed her in her bed and left the cottage.
Back in the Everfree Forest, a black pegasus awakened. He felt like somepony took out his jaw with a saw and replaced his jaw with concrete. His head was boiling of revenge.
It hadn't been long since Fluttershy was ambushed, when Rainbow was walking home with Fluttershy, when a shadow figure apeared. The real form came in view. A gear clicked inside Rainbow's head.
"StarFlyer?" She gasped when she saw a hoof shaped mark on his cheek. His eye was practically swollen shut. Had she really kicked her best friend (before the other five became more understanding to her)?
"Yeah, it is. And you almost killed me! How could you do that to me?!" He winced at the pain of stretching his mouth to far open.
"I'm the element of loyalty, for Celestia's sake! But more importantly, why were you trying to kill Fluttershy?!?!" Fluttershy's heart started to race. She wasn't enjoying being here.
StarFlyer smiled. "It's because I'm a-"
Rainbow had a hoof over his mouth. "Look, I've had enough of you pushing an and 'Shy around. Unless you shut up, you're gonna get it!
'S-Shy? She's never called me that before.
Being snapped out of her daydream, she noticed StarFlyer and Rainbow were nowhere to be seen. She started to panic.
A heart wrenching scream came from a nearby alley.
"R-Rainbow?" She squeaked.
"H-HEELLLLPP!" Another scream came from the same alley.
"Rainbow! I'm coming" Fluttershy said. Loud.
Fluttershy arrived at the alley and almost vomited at what she saw. Rainbow Dash was sitting against the back wall of the alley with her back legs stretched out in front of her, sitting in a small puddle of blood. She had a few big gashes on her body and StarFlyer was pinning her down. He had a dagger in his hand and was searching for its next stab. Rainbow looked like she was having trouble staying conscious.
She couldn't back away this time. She had to do this for Rainbow Dash. For her Life.
She casually walked up to StarFlyer and tapped him on the shoulder. The second he turned around, Fluttershy smacked a hoof across his face and gave him an uppercut.
"Ahhhhh!!" He screeched. Fluttershy's eyes narrowed.
"Get. Out of here!!!!" She screamed. It didn't take long for him to fly off to get away.
"Flutters'. Th-thank you. But-t I think I-I need-d a hospital." Before RD said anything else, she passed out.
Flutters'? What's with the new nicknames?? She thought as she flew as fast as she could to the Ponyville hospital. When she got there, there was more than enough nurses and doctor to help, considering it was the middle of the night.
They quickly took Rainbow Dash away, leaving Fluttershy in tears in the waiting room. "I-is she going to be okay??" Fluttershy stammered to a doctor coming from Rainbow's room
"She should be fine, she just has a few really deep cuts that should heal in about 2 weeks." He explained. "She lost a lot of blood and is going to need a donation." He said.
"Um, what type is she?" She asked. The doctor dissapeared to Dash's room and appeared moments later.
"Type A." Fluttershy thought for a moment. Wasn't she.....
"I'll donate." Fluttershy said with her bravest smile on her face. "Well, okay if you want to."
The needle hurt a little, but it's all worth it when they're done, she was going to help Rainbow Dash!
"Can I see her?" Fluttershy asked.
"Sure, she's the first door to your left." The doctor directed.
"Thank you."
Fluttershy walked up to Rainbow and looked at her eyes. They were closed. She had bandages on the spots where she had been stabbed on her body. Fluttershy's I eyes filled up with water. Soon she had tears rolling down her cheeks.
Suddenly a pair of beautiful rose eyes opened up because of Fluttershy's sobbing.
"Shy'?" Fluttershy stopped crying the second Raimbow Dash spoke. "I'm okay, Flutters'" she said in a smooth voice. Fluttershy just launched forward into giving Rainbow a giant hug.
"Okay Fluttershy, it's Rainbow Dash's rest time, so visiting hour are over." The nurse said as she was coming in.
"Oh, Okay. I'll go then." Fluttershy said. She just turned around and left.
Lucky I'm In Love With My Best Friend
After a few weeks, Rainbow Dash flew out of the hospital at full speed. Nothing ever hurt her wings, so she could fly right away, perfectly fine. Rainbow Dash had plans. Very risky ones.
She needed tell Fluttershy how she felt about her. She couldn't keep this inside her anymore. She needed to get it out. Full speed ahead! To F-Fluttershy's. She thought. The sun was setting right over the horizon, which gave Rainbow an idea.
Rainbow Dash arrived at Fluttershy's cottage and she was already covered with sweat. She knocked and soon the yellow mare popped her head out. "oh, hey Rainbow!" She said a little more enthusiastic than normal.
"Hey, Fluttershy! come with me! I want to show you something."
"Uh, okay."
"C'mon, it'll be cool!"
Rainbow Dash flew up into the air and Fluttershy followed. they flew for about 5 minutes until they reached a cloud. "Sit here." She told her. Fluttershy sat down on the plush cloud and remembered how long ago it had been since she sat on one of these soft clouds. Fluttershy had forgotten how soft they were. Rainbow sat beside her on the cloud.
Fluttershy's eyes widened at the sunset. "wow, it's beautiful!" said said.
"I know!" Rainbow Dash answered. "I have something I need to tell you." Rainbow said, a little shakily. Fluttershy's eyes now widened at her.
"Well, ya see, uh I kind a" Fluttershy knew what was going to happen all to well now, and she was smiling about it.
"ok. Fluttershy, uuuhhhhm, well....... Oh I can't do it. Before Rainbow Dash could leave, Fluttershy grabbed Rainbow in the cheeks and pushed their muzzled together. Rainbow's eyes snapped open at what was now happening. She smiled (while kissing) and closed her eyes.
"What did you want to tell me?" Fluttershy said with her eyes half lidded. Rainbow just giggled
"That."
after a few moments that each felt like a 1000 years to them, they broke the kiss. Fluttershy's beautiful pine orbs opened to find a pair of rose ones looking back at her. She smiled at her. For the longest time they just hugged in a endless embrace. Fluttershy was the first to speak. "Was al this stammering, running off and avoiding for nothing?" She asked.
"I guess it probably was if we both had the same feelings for each other." Rainbow giggle while talking.
"I guess we're lucky be in love with our best friends" Fluttershy said. All they could do was smile. Fluttershy was right. They couldn't have been luckier.
