My Little Apocalypse: DayZ Edition
Twilight Sparkle sits in the common room of the Library sifting through a pile of books. Although, this is not just a normal leisure read. No, this is hardcore studying. You see, our little friend here is working on a project of unimaginable proportions. These books contain information on teleportations, intense and and ancient magic, and theoretical infinite magic pools. And these things can only mean one thing. That's right, long distance teleportation. And not the puny across the globe teleportation bullshit. No, the is the large, interuniversal teleportation. And it had to sustain not one, not two, but six fully grown ponies. A feat unimaginable earlier in time. But Twilight was going to prove that interuniversal teleportation was possible. And she was going to show all of her friends.

It is a warm summer evening here in Chernarus. Cloudy sky, whistling wind, and the soft moans of zombies off in the distance. I sit upon a small mountain overlooking Elektro. It was a nice mountain, with flowing grass and scattered tress running up and down the sides. I see a small amount of bright yellow near one of the small buildings. Very unusual color for a zed's shirt. I look through the scope of my AS50 to the spot where I had seen the yellow. After waiting for a good ten minutes, I see the yellow splotch comes sprinting out of a small building, which I recognized as a convenience store. There are at least three green colored patches that follow after it. I focus on the yellow speck. True to my thoughts, it was another person. But it was not your run of the mill civilian. This was a bandit, with is usual semi-camo clothing and face wrap. On his back, I see an large light machine gun and a very large backpack. In his arms, a small pistol and a few cans of food. I drag the center of the scope to his running form, and pulled the trigger. A loud explosion rocks the side of the mountain as the rifle kicks agains my sholder. I take my suppressed M9 out of it's leg holster and sling my AS50 over my right shoulder. The trek down the mountain then begins. I begin to wonder what all he has in that large backpack of his. Maybe some ammunition? Food, or something to drink? Surely he had food, he even ran out of the store with it! Oh, zed coming up on the mountain. I aim carefully for it's head with my pistol, and fire. Another zed down; over 4 billion left to go. Yay me.
The town looks as if it is clear of zombies. But I know it wasn't. No matter where you were, they always found you. One came out of the alley next to me and started running after me. A quick pistol round to the head fixed that. As I approach the body, I hear feet shuffling and metal scraping the ground. Someone had heard the shot. Someone was at my kill, stealing my loot. I pull out my AS50 and ready myself. The pistol was more maneuverable, but the AS50 was an instant kill. At this point, I am behind a corner wall next to the body. I quickly shout "Drop the weapon, or I shoot" and jump out in the open. The man kneeling next to the body jumped at the sudden change of events. He throws down his gun in panic and hunches over with his hands on the top of his head. I tell him to back away from the body and he complies. I notice he has camouflage clothing on, but it's not the bandit clothing. It's military camo. I then realize he was just an innocent man, thrown into this fucked up world like myself. I can hear his whimpering from where I stand. This lead me to the decision to spare him. He never did anything wrong, just scavenging like the rest of us. I started to talk to him, explain everything, and see if there are any more survivors. "Hey there mate. You okay?" I asked.
"Y-y-yeah, I'm fine, thanks. You just scared the shit outta me…"
"Well, I do have that effect on people. Where you comin' from?"
"Cherno. I was coming here to find some more supplies. I heard the shot and thought I'd check it out. Sorry, I didn't realize you were here. The loot's all yours."
"Nah, I'm good. You can have some of it if you want. Say, did you come across anyone else on your way here?"
"Nope. Was I supposed to? Cause if you want me to, I can check…"
"No no no, it's fine. I was just trying to check if there were any more survivors."
"Well, there was this guy…"
"Heh, I guess he was. Although, bandits like him don't tend to be the kind to passing stragglers like ourselves."
"I guess you're right. Thanks by the way. He probably would have gotten me."
"No prob. Hey, You got a camp somewhere?"
"Uh, why you need to know?"
"Just wondering. I have one. If you want, you can tag alone for the ride? Better to have someone watching your back then going through this hell hole alone."
"Eh, why the hell not. One thing though. You point that gun at me again, don't expect me not to do the same."
"Fair deal. You want me to help you transfer your shit?"
"Sure. Follow me."
So off we went to Cherno to pick up this guy's stuff. Although, I don't know his name…
"Uh, I never quite got your name." I stated.
"It's Sam. And yours?"
"Scott. It's a pleasure."
There we go. Now for some small talk while we walk around 2000 meters.
"So, what gear you got in camp?"
"Not to terribly much. I've got me an M4 CCO and about 20 STANAG mags, 7 of which are STANAG SD's."
"Ah, nice. Got any food, water, vehicle parts?"
"Mhm. Plenty of food and water. A tire, 3 full jerry cans, and a main rotor assembly in terms of parts. Haven't found anything to use 'em on though."
"That's fine. We'll find some use for 'em."
"Hold on… what's that?"
He points his finger in the distance, and all I see is a small blotch of black. I zoom in with my AS50 to get a better look. A large blue two-door farm truck is just sitting there in the middle of the field.
"Probably the bandit's. Wana check it out Sam?"
"Can't hurt to try. It take that back, lets hope it doesn't hurt to try…"
"Hehe, and hope we will."
And off we venture to the bandit's Ural.
It took us a few minutes of jogging, but we eventually got there. We hid in a nearby pine tree for a few minutes to survey the area. Once I deemed it safe, we walked up to the back of the truck. I hopped in and started sifting through the loot. And damn, was there a lot of it.
"Holy shit Sam, this guy was set. A few M4's, at least 30 STANAG mags, three large Coyote backpacks, and shit loads of food and water."
"Damn man. I'mma check the important shit."
"A'ight. Have fun."
I continued to root through the gear in the back. The rest of the things were decent. A few blood bags, morphine, epi-pens, and bandages. Also a few of my pistol mags, which I was very grateful for. But, that was about the extent the loot went. No long range weapons or ammo, which put a bit of a damper on my mood. Sam then called out to me in a tone I could only interpret as amazed.
"Uh, Scott?"
"Yeah mate, whatcha need?"
"Come here for a minute…"
At this point I was actually a bit worried. Did he find a zed feasting? Was it just there? I hopped off the back of the truck and made my way to the front. Sure enough, Sam was there in the driver seat with his mouth agape. I follow his eyes to the dashboard.
"Holy shit Sam, you sure this is right?"
"Uh, is it ever wrong?"
"I don't believe so…"
Everything was green. And everything means absolutely everything. Almost a full gas tank, and the engine in top condition along with the tires and windows. This thing was ready to go on a moment's notice. I was snapped out of my trance when Sam spoke.
"I think we may have hit a break."
"Ah, don't speak so soon. For all we know, there could be hordes waiting for us at your camp."
That left him speechless. I chuckled at his reaction.
"Just joking mate. Although, I wouldn't be surprised if there were."
"It's ok. We won't know until we go though. You want to drive? Or want me to?"
"I'll drive if that's fine with you. I need the practice."
"Sounds good. You ready?"
"Yep. Lets hit it."
With that, I hopped into the driver's seat of the Ural and started it up. I looked over at Sam. He give me a nod, which I returned. I put my food on the gas, and we sped off towards Cherno.

"Almost…" Twilight was struggling to enchant the gem for the magic pull for the day. For a week, she had been fulling the gem with raw magic each day. The amount of energy in this gem measures about to that of a solar flare. Finally satisfied, she plonks herself on the couch to rest. Tomorrow will be the day she invites her friends over to show them the experiment. Tomorrow, she does the impossible. Tomorrow, she makes the portal to another universe.
