“Zach it’s time to get up!” said Shining Armor as he was standing right next to my bed. “Do you even know what the time it is or why today is so important you not be late Zach?” Asked Shining Armor as I started to get up rather slowly.
“It’s about 6A.M. and the important of today is?” the important of today what was so special about today? “It’s the day my captain’s test is right?” I asked shining Armor.
“Yes it is so why are you still in bed?” he asked.
“Well I had a late night training with princes Luna. She said if I do well on this test and work hard I may be able to have a shot at the opening for the shadow guard.” I stated to Shining.
“Well that’s all good but if you don’t get a move on you will never get that chance.” He stated flatly.
“Right then. Ow muu hi prince Cadance.” I said.
“Well good morning to you Zach.” Stated Cadance coolly.
“Zach get a move on!” yelled Shining see as I moved nowhere in the last ten seconds.
“Ow crap I am so late.” I said looking at the clock on the wall.
“Well good morning Zach nice to see you arrived in time.” Said princes Celestia.
“I hope I didn’t keep you whiting to long princes.” I said slowly.
“Ow no you are only one second late better then yesterday when you were two hours late getting to your guard post.” Celestia stated coolly.
“Right sorry about that. But can we get to what we are all here for?” I asked getting more nerves as the time went on.
“yes.” Was the only answer I got from Celestia but then Luna came in to whoch me.
“Good luck in there Zach.” Luna said to me.
“Right I will do my best to get that open spot on your personal guard my lady.” I said as I turn to where Shining Armor was.
“So what is my captain’s test going to be?” I asked Shining.
“Well I hope you have you’re A game for this Zach you’re going to need it.” He said with a look that made the hair on my back stand on end. So as I stepped forward I griped my sword and got ready for what was to come next. “You’re test is to face me one on one open combat. Ow and you will need you’re armor to Zach.” He said.
“Ok so my test is to face you in one on one combat. Does that mean any magic is aloud?” I asked.
“Yes any that you know and can do.” He said as he got ready know full well the magic I could do using my Armor to channel my magic seeing as human her no way to let the magic flow from us.
“Here you go Zach the armor is ready for you.” Said Luna as she walked over to me caring my armor on her back and sting it next to me.
“Thank you princes.” I said getting ready to confront Shining Armor. “Now just so you know Shining Armor no hard feeling when I kick you flank.” I said with a smile.
“Haha Save it till after you win Zach.” He said.
“Right! Ready when you are.” I retorted. Be now I was formulating my plan of attach in my head. ”Right on the count of three we will start. ONE.TWO.THREE!” after that I launched me self in the air and plod out three feathers from my armor and using my magic I turned them in to daggers and throw them at Shining. As I thought they when sailing right by his head and I got him to move the way I wanted him to. Next was the two heavy hand guns that I had on my back. They fired using my magic to fuel the shots as round after round hit the ground or Shining’s shield he had up to block the shots.
“You’re going to have to try harder than that Zach.” Shining said to me over the shots fired.
”Alright then how about this!” I shouted as I launched me self with high speed only to disappear in to thin air one second and reaper on shining’s side as I kicked him hard sending him sailing in to the wall. “How was that Shining Armor?” I asked as he got up.
“Well I can’t keep up with that speed but I won’t stop know.” He said confidently.
This when on for what feet like hours nether Shining Armor nor my self giving up as me when at it. It was only when I sent Shining in to the wall followed up with me pointing my sword at him did he eyelid to me.
“And with that you win Zach” Shining said to me.
“I know you could do it Zach” said Luna as she came up to me and handed me a water bottle.
“Indeed that was the most fun I had whoching somepony take there captions test and passing it.” Said celestia.
“What how may pass this test?” I asked.
“Only you, Shining Armor, and the pony you are replacing as the shadow guard commander Zach.” Said Luan as she looked at me with a happy look on her face.
“What why am I replacing the shadow guard commander?” I asked Luna as we walked in to the castle as she wanted me to meet the members of the Shadow Guard and her elite team the Shadow Team Alpha.
“Well Zach you worked hard to get here and know you are there commanding officer. How do you feel” Asked Luna as I stood there a sheepish smile on my face.
“So what know princes?” I asked as I had no what to do know if she wanted me to talk to them or what.
“Well what do you whont to do Zach?” said Luna looking at me with worry. “You had a hard fight with Shining Armor and won. Don’t you whont some down time? Is there any where you would like to go?” Luna said with a smile.
“Well I do need some down time I have errand it and as where I would like to go I think I will go to Ponyville I hear there is a fashion designer that make the best cloths in all of Equestria or so some of the guard from my old unit said. I think I will go for a will if that is all right with you princes?”
“That is more than fine by me. How long will you be gone?” asked Luna
“Well seeing as how there is no real danger to Equestria right know will a four month leave be ok with you?” I asked her
“Yes that is fine. Wail you are there you can do you first duty as the captain of the Shadow guard and cheek in on the Royal Guard that is there.” Said Luna
“If that is my assignment I wail do it princes.” I said a little bummed out that I had to work wail on leave.
“Yes it is Zach please see that you complete it when you have time.” Luna said with a smile.
“Ok then I accept the assignment prince.” I said as Luna and I walked back to Shining’s and Cadance’s house that I was staining at till I could find a house.
“Princes if it not too much trouble can I ask that I get a house in Ponyville?” I asked seeing as I need to find a house of my own now that I was no longer working with Shining Armor any more.
“Why yes Zach I don’t see why not. I would also like you to look for a place to set up a barrack for the Shadow Guard team as I thick I will move them there on permanent place meant.” She said with a hint that she know something I didn’t. Wonder why she whonts me to do this? What does she know that I don’t?
“Yes princes I will. When I find a place do you whont me to send the bill to the palace?” I asked her
“Yes see that you do. Ow and do say hi to twilight and her friends they will help you if trouble should arias wail you are there.” Said Luna.
“I will see to it princes that it is the first thing I do when I get there can you send here a letter knowing I will be coming to meet her and her friends? I asked
“Yes I will and please call me Luna you are my captain know Zach.” Said Luna.
“Yes prin… I mean Yes Luna ow and can you tell Twilight and her friends that I am your friend I don’t whont any one to know that I am part you the Royal Guard let allow the captain of the Shadow Guard. If that is not too much trouble for you Luna.” I asked of her. It’s not that I whont them to know I am a high ranking member of the Guard it’s just I don’t whont them to thick any different of me I whont to make real friends for how I am not where I came from or what my job is.
“Well Luna I am off to Ponyville know. If you whont to come stop by I will send you the address to my home when I get one. Bye for now Luna.” I called out to her as the train moved away from the stashen and headed for Ponyville.
