A Brave New Worldby AzurasChaptersPrologueChapter 1Chapter 2PrologueA Brave New World “Squads Alpha to Echo do you read” one of the communication officers says in an urgent tone. With a sigh I pick up the call “This is Bravo 3, what do you need command, Over” I say using a neutral tone, while adjusting my C-100 into formation after being nudged over by a stray gust of wind. “We had lost all squads singles, from Alpha through Echo. Is there an explanation Captain, Over” “Command I don’t know why we are all here and still flying on course, I haven’t seen anything that would disrupt the single, Over” “That is all Captain, Out” With I sigh I turn back to my co pilot, a smirk on her face as we continue to fly on course towards England. “And what pre tell is so funny” I ask him a smile spreading on my face. “Well the fact we ignored command for two hour straight” He says bursting into a fit of laughs as our radio buzzed to life as the other pilots and squadron leaders began communication freely, the little joke now over. “How did all of you even talk me into this anyways Lieutenant?” I ask focusing on the task at hand. “Well, with all this crazy shit going on, we all need a good laugh hear and there. Besides command deservers to be put in there place every once in a while sir. Also stop being so formal, you know my name and its not like we are at base” My co-pilot says still smirking and leaning back in her seat not a care in the world. “Lieutenant, I like the protocols for a reasons, now please stop leaning about, I’m trying to fly this and all this turbulence and crossing streams from the other plans is making it difficult” “Please sir, we’ve all read your file. Back in the day you where a bad ass, with a capital A.S.S. It even said on your file that you where deemed a “loose cannon”” She said using air quotas. With a deep sigh I tried to ignore her and carry on with my task, it was due to that disgraceful report I turned into the perfect solider. I always follow protocol, I never disobey an order and I always do my paper work and hand it in on time no matter how pointless it is, and ever since I was partnered with Lieutenant Lax. Yes her name is Lax she earned the nickname Relaxed and it fits her quite well. If I wasn’t so up tight we would probably be very close by now but after commands report on me I’ve been forced to keep myself under check. And once I left my report on my desk she made photo copies of it somehow and within several minutes nearly everyone on base had read it. I still have now idea how she did it and when ever I ask, she starts flirting. A smile spreading on my face I turn to look at her, she was wearing the normal pilot uniformed for combat missions. An oval green jump suit littered with pockets, why so many pockets no one knows, all we do is store random junk in them. Anyways, her uniform as usually wasn’t up to standers, it wasn’t ironed or clean, her boots from what I saw before where surprisingly tied but she wore her blond hair down to her neck instead of a nice bun like the manual demands. But as I continued to look her over I always get side tracked like any man and look at her chest Thankfully she had her uniform done up all the way which gave me the strength to look away and at her deep green eyes which where already boring into me. And then the one thought that every man who gets caught passed through me for the tenth time that month. “Fuck”. “That’s not proper sir, I can have you reported for sexual harassment sir” She says laughing at me as I quickly turn away and fumble to put my sun glasses on. “I have no idea what you’re talking about Lieutenant I was simply inspecting your uniform” As soon as the words came out of my mouth I mentally face palmed for I just gave her fuel to the fire. “Looked like you where doing more then inspecting my uniform” She said leaning over her side of the cockpit surprisingly not touching any of the sensitive equipment just to get into my space. “Did you find that I was up to standards? Sir?” She said in one of the must seductive tones she uses when ever I make this mistake. “Knock, knock. Am I interrupting anything love birds?” a voice said from behind us. I both thank and curse fate for this, for now I have to deal with another rumor about me and Lax, but he caused her to quickly go back to her seat and do work. This normally means she is embarrassed. And so I do a quick turn of my head and see Sergeant Morrow an average sized but very muscular black man and one of Lax’s friends made him quite the joker. And he happened to be standing in the door wearing combat fatigues ready for combat which could mean only one thing. We are nearing full might of humanity. After losing connection to Britain, several teams where sent to investigate. What we learned was that Britain was invaded, and the enemy was dug in deep and anything else the High command kept it to themselves leaving us in the blind. So the High command basically ordered a full assault on multiple fronts, the UK defended the shores and prepared teams to move across to Britain while Canada, America and other countries who where convinced to assist scent there forces to a singular location a hundred kilometers off the shores of Britain, where we’ll launch a full scale assault by air, and sea. With a deep sigh I spoke “No your not Sergeant. Now why are you here?” “Just wanted to remind you where we are going to be dropping in so there’s no problems, Sir” He said the smile that never leaves his lips beaming at me trying to make me give in to my urges of having some actual fun instead of being what I am. “Thank you Sergeant” I said turning my head back to what’s in front of me which was a good hundred assorted bombes, transport plans and fighter jets. Which on any normal day would be a sight to see, but after seeing it for several hours, it’s just normal. “Bravo 3. This is Overseer 7. Do you confirm? Over.” The radio buzzed in my ear. Pressing the speak button on my head sit I replied “This is Bravo 3, Overseer 7. What do you need? Over.” “Confirmation on Bravo attack plan. Over” “We are in formation to assault the Beach and give support to landing crafts. Over” “That’s alls Bravo 3. Out” And with that the radio went dead yet again except for chatter which I block out, most of it being meaning less such as “What are we fighting”. “How are your kids”, “When do you think we’ll be back” and other things that don’t need to be on my mind. “So Captain! What do you think we are going up against? Do you think its terrorists? Or do you think its some zombie out break!” Lax says a little to happy about the zombies, but then again I always wanted to live to see the day just so I can say I knew it. “Well Captain, don’t just ignore me” I sighed “I’m thinking Lieutenant. And I don’t think its any of those, and I hope I’m wrong” “Well… what is it then Sir?” “Demons” “What?” “I said Demons, as in beings from another dimension” I reply as I thought back to all my crazy predictions back as a teenager when I had a vision of a war between monsters and man. “Ha! I knew you where crazy!” Lax says esthetically before going back to relaxing in her seat no longer embarrassed from Morrow’s comment. I turn my head and look down through one of the lower windows of my plane and I can see that we are now flying over the fleet, an armada for nearly four thousand ships from supply vessels to destroyers to tug boats it was a force to be reckoned with. And still I was unimpressed. “Didn’t they say ten thousand ships?” Lax said “Yeah, but we all know command lies to give us moral. They also said we’ll be dropping half a million men from air. But I did the math and we are only dropping a hundred thousand at most plus what ever else is in the back of the plans” I reply “It’ll be nice if they could be truthful” I simply nod my head agreeing with her, since all command does is hide Intel from us which causes us to lose the fights and causes good people to die. I look up and notice the plans in front of me gaining speed, and so I adjust my flight and throttle. The attack had begun and the radio was eerie quite. Chapter 1Chapter 1 “Lets get this shit going!” Lax yell at me as we pushed the C-100 into max speed quickly reaching 300 knots. I can hear the other plans and jets around me picking up speed as will, a huge hum of engines shaking me to my core. I grab the on board radio and speak into it with a neutral voice “This is Captain Noll speaking, we will be reaching the drop zone in five minuets, I say again. We will be reaching the drop zone in five minuets” And with that I place the radio back into its position and let out a deep sigh as I watch the horizon. “Sir, what are we going to do once they drop?” Lax asked me quite seriously. “We’ll be doing circles giving aerial recon and giving support if needed” “I see” Lax said to me with little emotion. I tilt my head slightly to the side to get a look at her. And she was shaking with fear, heck I would have been to if I didn’t care about dying, so I did the one thing that came to mind. “It’ll be alright Lax, we’ll make it through this” “You sure sir?” “Yes” “All unites! Fall back now!” A voice cracked through the radio I quickly turn my head set on and reply “What’s the problem command?” I say looking forward seeing a bright light in front of the plans in front of me. “Command! What is that!” I yell into the radio but only received white noise as the ball of light seems to be pulling us in. I glanced at my speed indictor and we where moving over 500 knots which should be impossible. “Lax! We need to get out of what this is!” I yell trying to move my control but no matter how much I turned we continued to go forward at an alarming rate. As I look out of the corner of my eye I see another C-100 approaching us and heading for what ever the light was. “Sir! The controls! There not responding!” Lax yells as the other plane goy closer to colliding with our left wing. “Fuck!” I yell as everything around me starts flashing and beeping making it hard to think when suddenly our whole plane shakes adding to my confusion. I look at the other plane and see that we have lost our wing and the other plane was losing sheets of metal. All that was going through my head at this moment was “What the actual fuck”. “Sir…. We are approaching 800 knots” Lax said in a shaking voice. “Impossible! We’ll get ripped apart!” I said while looking at the speed indicator and truth to be told it was rising higher then 800 knots. “Shit… Buckle down and be ready for a crash landing” I said as I placed all the safety straps on clicking in place when I suddenly hear a grinding nose coming from under me. “What’s that…” “I don’t know and at this point I don’t care” I said as we got closer to the strange light all the plans in front of me had seemed to go right through it and now we where next. I look over at the other plane and see its still right next to us but tilted to the right. I continue to look and I guess that the grinding noise was the other plane’s wing. “Sir… where going inside!” Lax said screaming as the plan jolted forward. I strained to keep my eyes open as our plane reached over 1000 knots. And as fast as it happened we where flying again over an ocean gaining speed but slowly falling. “Shit, we have lost engines three and four, and I have some control” I say as I try to tilt us up to keep us from crashing as we sped over the ocean at over 1000 knots. The plane next to us had the same Idea and was also rising which helped us as well since its wing was keeping us steady. “We’re going die, we’re going to die” Lax said over and over again no longer in here cheerful tone as she kept her eyes close and gripping onto her straps for life. “We can’t land in the ocean” I mutter as we continue to speed forward watching the speed indicator slowly drop and the vertical speed indicator as slowly rise as well fell. Suddenly my on board radio shocked to life. “Bravo 3. This is Bravo 2…. We need to work together other wise we’ll crash and burn. Over” I pick up the radio carful to not nudge my controls and reply “Bravo 2. I read you. We need to find a place to land or crash with as little damage as possible. Over” “Agreed Bravo 3. But I doubt we’ll be landing in this condition, all my engines are out and my right wing is stuck in your fuselage. Over” “I saw that…. What do your think we should do? Over” “I can see some land in the distances maybe a few kilometers out. Over” “I can see it to… If you need anything Bravo 2 just ask. I need to assist my Co-Pilot. Over” “Alright Bravo 3. Out” I place the radio back and look over to Lax, she was still petrified in her seat, eyes closed and holding onto the straps for life. With a sigh I say “Lieutenant, we are going to make it, we see some land and I’m going to need you to help me out. Ok?” I say as gently as I can as we speed towards the land. She ignores me still in her trance and I can see the outlines of buildings far to our right on the coast. I quickly pick up the radio and contact bravo 3 “Bravo 3 there is a city on the coat several clicks to the North West. Over” “I see it Bravo 2, what do suggest. Over” “We can angle ourselves to it and fly over and hope they see or hear us. Over” “Do you think that’s wise? We have no engines and little control as it is. Over” “It’s better then sitting in the middle of nowhere without any help for a few weeks. Over” I say irritated. “Alright Bravo 2 but we need to time this right otherwise we might just break apart. Over” “Agreed. Over” “Alright on the count of three move to a 45 degree heading and we should fly right over the locals” “1…..2…..3” With that I turned my controls and adjust our course to the city, I could feel the bravo 3 as they turned with us. Seconds felt like hours it is hard to breath, it feels like someone is placing a wight against my chest and to top it all off my vision was blurred from sweat and I dare not take my hands off the controls without risking us going out of control, I stole a glance at my altitude gage and what I saw made me feel sick. We are at around two thousand feet and steadily losing altitude. The radio cracked to life “Bravo 2 we need to pull up, we are losing to much altitude. Over” I pick up the radio and respond “Bravo 3, if we pull up we’ll create to much drag and slow us, causing us to lose even more altitude. Over” “But if we don’t pull up we will crash. Over” “We are going to be crashing anyways. Over” “Fair point. Out” I looked to my left as we flew over the city seeing no cars or paved streets, I didn’t even see large buildings. But I saw what looked like a medieval wall and docked in the harbor was what looked like to be caravel. “What the fuck is this” I say out loud causing Lax to gasp. I turn my head to her and she is looking down as well. “T….the….theirs… something coming off the ground… headed at us..” Lax said I look at her confused and look down again seeing several shiny objects fly towards us. “Where moving to fast for them to do anything Lax” Then the radio cracked to life as we left the medieval city behind. “Bravo 2 there is something fly up at us from that…. City. Over” I grab the radio and reply “Yeah, I saw them to, but they wont be able to keep up we are moving to fast. Over” “Just wanted to inform you Bravo 2. Out” I sigh and put the radio back looking at Lax “You ready to help out?” She looks at me and smiles lightly nodding her head “Yeah… I think I can help” She then takes her controls and helps me to steady our flight. We flew in silence for several more minuets, I viewed the landscape looking for a good place to land, I turn my head to look at the speed indicator seeing it steadily dropping from 800 knots to 700. I sigh and look back at Lax she is now helping me and no longer in that trance. Suddenly I began to hear yelling coming from the cargo hold. “Fuck. I need to go check on the troops. Lax I need you to keep us steady” With that said I began un doing my safety straps, which was a very bad idea since we where moving at 700 knots, but I still got out of my seat holding on not wanting to fall. I let go of my seat and quickly slid towards the door. I reach my hands out and gripped onto the walls to slow myself. I managed to stop and open the door, what I saw was carnage, the left side of the cargo hold had a large hole and there where men in every state of fear. I watch some men crying, some screaming and some yelling at the others to shut the fuck up. I held onto the door and yelled. I even saw some men on the left side had lost limbs from sheet metal cutting them. “Enough! All of you shut it and strap in! Listen to your commanding officers and squad leaders” I stop and look around and could see that the majority where looking at me “We will be crash landing, so I need all of you to remain calm and be ready to help those who are wounded during the crash” I could see some nodding heads but the majority paled at the thought of crashing. I quickly turn and slowly moved back into the cockpit fighting the force pushing me back. I plopped back into my seat and buckled in then I checked my gauge, we where at 300 knots now and around five hundred feet above the ground. “Well we are boned” “Maybe not sir…” Lax said “And how aren’t we lieutenant?” “Up ahead there seems to be a huge field, if we can land on that we most likely will survive with little damage” I look forward in the direction she was indicating and saw a large green field large and long enough for both plans to crash on. “Alright Lax we’ll give it a shot” I pick up the radio and called bravo 3 “Bravo 3, up ahead there is a field. My co-pilot thinks we should land there. Over” It took several longs seconds for the reply “We see it Bravo 2. And it’s the best option. Over” “Alright, follow our lead. Over” “Agree. Out” With that quick little exchange we angled the plane and prepared to crash on the field. Ever so slowly we angled down, dropping altitude and speed faster and faster. I could see the ground clearly now, it was greener then anything I’ve ever seen and littered with flowers. To bad we are about to create a scar in the land. Suddenly all the warning indicators for a crash started blaring in my ears “Prepare for Impact!” I yell as the aircraft smashes into the ground and begins bouncy knocking me around in my seat. I hear the groan as we begin sliding across the ground, dirt, grass and rocks fly up blocking my view. Then we hit something hard and I fly forward hitting my head on something. The last thing I see is a beautiful display of flowers, and then everything goes black. Chapter 2I feel something hot and sticky slide down my right eye, with a groan I slowly open my eye quickly noticing I can only see through my left eye. “Shit….” I breathe as what I assume is blood continues trickling down my forehead. I slowly move my head in the dimly lit cockpit, the cock pit seems to be buried under a mound of dirt and the only light I can see is from the various warning lights and buttons along the damaged control board. Suddenly I feel an intense pain in my leg and look down to see that a large piece of metal has sliced into my left calf. “Fuck!” I reach to my harness and unbuckle my self ignoring the pain in my leg and lean over to Lax. “Get up damnit” I growl shoving her roughly. She lays there unmoving still so I shove her again even hard and her eyes quickly snap open. “You basterd!” she yells before punching me in the nose, I cry out as I hear the snap of my nose breaking. “Ah Fuck” “Oh god, I’m sorry Noll” She says quickly unbuckling herself and moving over to me. She seems to fair the crash much better then me, a small cut on her right cheek and other then that she is in preteen condition. Here eyes move to my leg and the metal sticking into it and she gasps. “One sec Noll… I’ll get that out and fix you up” She says before running behind my seat before I can tell her to wait. “Well Fuck. my leg is fucked, we crash landed and we lost radio contact with the fleet several hours ago” I think to myself as I hear Lax rummage behind me looking for what I can only think to be the first aid kit. “Got it!” Lax yells in triumph and returns to me “Alright Noll, I got to remove the metal and you have to keep still an-” “I know what to do Lax” I say cutting her off “Now give me something to wrap around the top of the wound so I can slow down the bleeding” “Alright… No need to be mean” she mutters handing me a clean cloth. I take the cloth and wrap it above the wound and tie it into a tight not, I grit my teeth in pain and nod my head to her. “Hurry up and do it” She nods and firmly grips my leg and the metal. “1…..2…..3!” she yells as she rips the metal from my leg causing blood to gush out and a quick rate. “Fucking stitch it!” I yell through clench teeth. “There to much blood! I can’t see it” Lax yells, panic in her voice. “Just clean it off!” She takes another clean cloth and begins brushing all the blood away, but it returns just as soon as she removes it, quickly turning the once white cloth red. “There’s to much..” I grit my teeth and pull tighter on my cloth tell I can no longer feel the pain in my leg. “Do it now” I breathe feeling light headed. She grabs a new cloth and clears the blood, then she begins stitching the wound close, i feel tears come to my eyes from the pain of the stitches and slowly the world around me dims. I slowly open my eye and find myself laying on my back and a green roof over my head, I slowly lean forward but gasp in pain and fall back to my back. I look over and see an IV bag and the tube going into me and right next to it I see a blood bag. I immediately put two and two together and figure that I’m in a medical tent. So I yell “Someone fucking help me!” Someone who I don’t recognize comes into my field of vision, I can see the medic symbol etched into there sleeve and I relax slightly. “How bad am I medic?” “You’ll live Captain, but you need to stay down for a few more hours before you can get up and moving. Your luckily that the metal missed your arties and bone” “And my eye?” “It’ll be good in a day or so sir” “How many wounded?” “Twelve wounded and twenty five dead” “And how many is that alive?” “We haven’t finished the full head count but its roughly forty seven alive” “And how is our equipment?” “Sir I don’t know, but all your questions will be answered when I clear you to leave. Now I’m going to administer this pain killer. And by the time you wake up you should be in the clear to leave” “Wait hold on a moment I’m not hav-“ I begin to say as he takes my arm and places the needle into place and pumping the clear liquid into the blood stream. “Sorry sir, but this is for your own good” I attempt to speak but I suddenly feel to tired to utter a word and again my vision dims “Fuck this shit” I think to myself as the world once again goes dark. When I wake up for the second time, the blood bag has been removed and the IV bag is still slowly dripping. I slowly sit up and look around the tent. Theirs five other green cots much like my own and two of them are occupied by patients. One looks like a pilot, he is missing his arm from the elbow down from the looks of it and has a large bandage around his head. The other cot is occupied by a solider that has a large bandage across his chest, to me it looks like he was shot. I slowly move my legs to hang off the cot and I look around for the ass of a medic who knocked me out. I spot him off in the corner of the tent cleaning some cloths from the look of it. “Oi, Medic” I call He turns towards me and smirks “Did you have a nice nap sir?” he asks sarcastically “I did for the matter, now where are my boots and combat gear. I need to get out of here” “Of in the corner sir, jut let me get you some crutches, we can’t have you put any stress on your leg but since you’re the highest ranking officer. I need to let you out early” “Praise the lord” I mutter hating everything about doctors and medics. The Medic picks up my equipment and boots before moving over to me, he places them next to me on the cot then walks out of my sight as I place my boots back on with some difficulty due to the giant cast on my leg. I then strap my tactical belt and turn just in time to see the ass of a medic returning with two metal crutches. “Here you go sir. They are tuned to your height and weight. Also do you need the course on how to use them?” he asks a little to innocently. “No I’ve used these enough times” I respond while taking the crutches from his hands and placing them just under my arm pits so they rest against my sides before standing with a grunt. I quickly begin hobbling out of the medical tent, before leaving I flip the medic the bird and continue out the flaps and into the open. The area all around me is filled with various tents and crates. I turn left not knowing where to go and pass several soldiers playing cards. As I continue hobbling around camp I get the eerie feeling that I’m being watched by someone or something. Turning around I see nothing but soldiers doing tasks or relaxing in the sun. “Captain! Captain Noll!” An all to familiar voice yells form behind me. Turning around I see Lax rushing towards me a smile on her lips. She comes to a stop right in front of me and looks up at me. “Glad to see you awake!” She yells in my face excitedly Blinking my eyes I respond “Tone it down Lieutenant. Also, where is the command tent?” I ask hoping she knows. She stares at me blankly for a few seconds “Oh god she doesn’t know” I think to myself. She then points right next to us. “There Captain” she says in a teasing manor Sighing and resisting the urge to die in a hole I hobble toward the command tent and step inside all eyes suddenly on me. “Sup?” I say as calmly as possible. There was utter silence, you could have heard a pin drop it was so quite. “Well Is anyone going to answer me?” I say hating the silence. A large African man who looks familiar steps forward. “Well Sir. What’s up is that there’s no radio single, no satellite single and we’ve spotted movement far outside the camp” I slowly think of the words to say while trying to remember the mans name, and decided to do the obvious thing. “Besides me, who is the highest rank in this room?” Everyone looked between each other and two people stepped forward, a shy looking woman apart of the ground forces that had long hair hiding her eyes and sunglasses on and a beat up man who wore Special Forces urban gear and had his right arm in a sling. I quickly noticed both are seconded lieutenants. “See something you like” The man speaks up as I stare at the two. “Yeah I already don’t like him” “Not at all Lieutenant, just trying to understand how I’m possibly the highest rank here” He scuffs and steps towards me as if trying to intimidate me, he easily stands a foot taller then me which is quite rare since I’m six foot three. All the while the girl tries to move back into the group. “Well, Sir” the shit begins “The major died in the crash, three other captains died and the only two who are here are you, and the other pilot who stranded us in the middle of nowhere” I raise an eyebrow at his antics before hobbling around him to speak to the other commanders which were made up of mostly sergeants. “While I ignore the kid. Can on of you tell me the situation we are in. With more detail” After some awkward silence a female sergeant with bandages over her head speaks up “Well sir, we have five working vehicles, both planes are in a wreck and we have exactly forty nine troops but thirty seven are fit for combat” she finishes. “And our supplies?” I ask The same sergeant speaks up “We have enough food and water to last us half a year, we have enough gas to travel from one side of the states to the other three times in each vehicle and we have enough ammunitions for a group triple our size” she finishes I nod as I look over the crude map of the surrounding area “And what vehicles do we have” A different voice awnsers “Two state of the art APC’s both equipped with anti personal guns, a Humvee, a M7 Bradley and a troop transport which we plan on using to carry supplies” “And How many troops can we fit in the APC’s minus the operators?” I ask looking up from the map. “About ten per APC, Sir” I nod me head. “Alright. Since we do not have the slightest idea where we are at, we shall assume this is hostile territory. I three shifts of guards posted all around the base camp, and I want to have teams scavenge what ever they can from the wreckage” I hear a scuff behind me which comes from none other then the brat “What do you think we’ve been doing while you where having your nap” I sigh before speaking “I need to make sure that these things are done, also we all know we may run out of bullets so I want us to scavenge the metal in hopes of making some close range weapons” Then the shy lieutenant speaks up “Um… Sir” she says unsure of herself. I turn to face her “Yes Lieutenant” “My squad was transporting a whole… armory of weapons like that… there’s swords, shields, spears and crossbows” I scratch my chin wondering why command would have those sent with us, unless they knew we may need them. “But why would we need those?” I quickly push the thoughts aside and speak up “Then hand those out, I want everyone to at least have a sword or spear with them, it’ll also help to conserve ammo” Again the brat scuffs “And why should we be stock to close range weapons rather then guns?” “Because if we don’t need guns we have something better then a combat knife, and if you haven’t noticed guns are pretty loud” And just like that someone yells something and we hear gun shots. “Fate must hate me” I think as I grab a random side arm from the table not caring who it belonged to and hobble out of the command tent. Soldiers are rushing around as guns shots are continued to be heard. I clear more throat and bark a order “Prepare for Combat!” with that I quickly hobble towards the area where the shoots where fired. As I reach the edge of camp there a large crowed gathered around something. “Alright Move it! Let me through” I bark most of the troops ignoring me. “I said Move it!” A corporal turns as if about to say something then gawks at me and shoves the guys around him getting there attention. Within moment there’s a clear path to some kind of creature. I slowly hobble over to it and take it in. Its something from a story book being roughly the size of a rhino but has the body of and head of a lion, a scorpion tail and two bat like wings. I stare at it for a few more second then it growls. “Fuck this” I say as I quickly point the side arm I took at its head and let three round into its head causing brain chunks and blood to go spray all over me and several others. “Nasty, just fucking nasty” “Alright! Who shot at it!” I call out Slowly a private steps forward, his face is paled and I can tell he is in shock from how he jerks forward “I… I did sir..” he says “Did you see anymore or where it came from?” I ask in a neutral tone “I..it.. came from the west sir…” I nod before shouting out “Some take him to the medical tent! And I want a scouting party to go out in a five kilometer radius all round camp! The rest of you burn this damn body!” With that said I quickly hobble back to the command tent getting that funny feeling someone is watching me. I enter the tent and look at several shock faces. Before anyone could ask I raised my hand silencing them then say “Fucking monster. That’s what happened”
PrologueA Brave New World “Squads Alpha to Echo do you read” one of the communication officers says in an urgent tone.
