Chapters Chapter 1: Lightning in Ice
Cold, all I felt. Ice all I tasted. Tumbling, all I heard.
In a few moments, vision came back to me and I saw myself in some cold block that was ice tumbling down a hill covered in snow as I suddenly hit grass at the bottom of my tumble and the ice prison block that was my home shattered into big blocks.
I was left shivering as I drew to my feet, I was always strong and full of endurance.
I examined my surroundings and saw I was in some warm area with crystal buildings and a palace of some sort far from me. I quickly ran toward it.
I'm Lightning Shot, a unicorn advanced in the magic of combat. People said I was always the strongest in will and in physical condition. That's all I remember about me now. I want to find all I can about this weird world and I intend to do so.
~~~~~
Upon my arrival, all the ponies had crystal bodies and I soon felt more lonely then I had all those hundreds of years I spent frozen.
'I want to remember...who I was, what my role was, what I need to do, and what happened to me. '
I walked to a random crystal pony and I immediately caught their attention.
"Pardon me, but what is this place and what can you tell me about it?" I questioned and their expression grew to a smile.
"Why this is the Crystal Empire, ruled by Princess Mi Amore Cadenza or Princess Cadence as she wants to be called and she is married to the captain of the royal guard in Canterlot, Shining Armor, Twilight Sparkle's brother." She said with enthusiasm and pointed to the huge four legged palace standing in the center of the empire," That is the Crystal Palace where Princess Cadence and Shining Armor reside. You should head over there if you need to know more information. Good day!" They finished their small speech.
"Thank you, Ma'am." I said before I ran with great speed and some of the crystal ponies looked at me with astonishment at my speed.
I quickly reached the palace, out of breath and approached a guard in golden armor with a gray coat of fur.
"How may I help you?"
"I require a chat with Princess Cadence, please." I replied.
"She is not to be bothered right now." He said with a stern voice.
'No, don't give up. ' I reassured myself and let my determination flow.
"You don't understand, I need a lot of help, I can't remember where I'm from or who I am. I NEED to see them. I need to remember." I said with determination and unneeded anger that seemed to put a tiny amount of fear in him.
"Still, you are not allowed to see her, nopony is." He said with a force filled tone.
"Then maybe I can change your mind." I acted before thinking and charged my horn. Static gathered around it and sparks flew, making some crystal ponies around us observe the scene and the guard's face changed to astonishment before changing back to his dead emotion.
"Now, we ought to take you to her and find out about you and deal with this outbreak." He said and put some cuffed instrument on my horn and chained my leg to his. He started to move into the palace.
I realized my magic was useless from the cone shaped object on my horn that was locked securely. I then smiled, I was going to find out about myself and what happened if Cadence knew.
A long walk later, I was in a lounge room with some fireplace lit and saw a pink alicorn on a couch with a purple, yellow, and pink mane that was brushed neatly.
"Your Highness, a strange unicorn has caused a ruckus in the streets and we find him to be off from anything we have seen. I have brought him to you for examination and identification." The guard said and who I assumed to be Princess Cadence turned around and looked at me with a smile.
"Take the magic absorber off his horn and unchain him, then leave." She said and kept smiling.
"As you wish, your Highness." The guard said and removed the chain then the thing on my horn before leaving. I faced the Princess with a puzzling look.
"Now, what did he mean by 'strange'?" She asked in some sort of soothing voice.
"I think he meant my horn..." I said and charged my horn making the small lightning bolts race along it.
"That is odd. Where are you from?" She asked and I stopped charging my horn.
"I don't know, all I know is my magic and that I was frozen and my name is Lightning Shot." I said with some depression.
"I might know some people who can help, but I'm not able to come with you at the moment," she said and handed me a map and compass,"head to Ponyville, south of here and Canterlot. Look for a library and see Twilight, she might be able to help you." Cadence said.
"Thank you and farewell." I said and opened a window to which she was puzzled. I studied the detil of Ponyville and checked the compass for south before setting the objects on the floor.
"Bye..." she said in wonderment as to what I was doing.
I charged my horn and quickly used my Voltage Velocity spell. I turned into a high speeding bolt that went through the air charges. I started to use the charges that led me south and I was traveling quite fast. I passed over the Crystal Empire and ponies were staring up at me with amazement and fear, some even ran.
In a few minutes, I was out of the Crystal Empire and built my speed up to go faster than the wind around me. I quickly passed over another city that was built into the side of a mountain and I saw guards look up and rapidly head toward the castle, most likely thinking I was a bad omen or something like that.
A short moment later, I arrived above Ponyville and took air charge routes that drove me out into the outskirts. I hit the ground and became my normal self again.
I quickly ran into Ponyville, eager to discover who I am and what happened that caused me to be frozen.
'I must know...I must! '
I ran into the town and everypony stared at me wondering why I had such a ruffled mane and tail as well as a more stern and angular face than other stallions. I ignored them and kept running until I found a sign that gave hint of a library. I stopped running right in front of it and knocked on it with haste.
"Can I help you?" A small purple dragon with green fins and a green belly answered the door. I quickly got ready to fight without showing it.
"I am requesting the assistance of Twilight, is she here?" I asked being cautious.
"Twilight it's for you!" The small dragon called and left the door as a lavender unicorn with a matching mane and tail that held a pink stripe in it. I assumed this is Twilight.
"How may I help you?" She asked.
"Princess Cadence sent me down here to see if you could help me remember who I am." I answered and she beamed.
"Princess Cadence!? Then please come in and have a seat." Twilight said and I came in and sat on the couch to which she followed after and did the same, I didn't see the dragon anywhere, so I relaxed.
"So...what did you mean by you don't remember who you are?" She asked.
"All I remember is that my name is Lightning Shot, my magic, and that I was frozen in ice for hundreds of years." I said and her face changed to that of sympathy.
"I'm so sorry to hear that. I might have a book that helps..." she said and started floating books with her magic. The books and her horn glowed lavender.
"Your magic....its not...like mine." I said and stopped once she got a book on ancient history that was thicker than the table surface in front of us.
"Here we are. Now what were you saying?" She asked. She was obviously too focused on finding a book. She put all the other books back using her magic.
"Your magic is different than mine." I repeated.
"What do you mean? All unicorns have the same magic." She stated with intelligence.
I charged my horn and electric waves of static rippled over it. Her mouth hung open.
"Wha..." She couldn't believe what she saw.
I started to look through the book myself and saw chapter names. The book was titled Villages in the Time of the Two sisters .
"Elementis..." I said one of the village names with wonderment and I got a headache. I clutched my hoof to my forehead.
"What's wrong?!" Twilight asked worried.
"My village...there were more like me....but they had leaves, rocks, ice, water, fire, wind, and other nature elements around their horns that symbolized their magic. Elementis is my village." I said and my head stopped hurting. I quickly used my magic on the book and static rippled over the pages, but didn't harm the book as it flipped to the page that had information about my village.
And so it begins, this epic tale. Enjoy the ride!
Sorry if there are some messups, but I was half asleep when I proofread.
As I read I came across many theories of how it disappeared, but all of them had, uncoincidentally, the fact that there was snow and ice everywhere where my village was supposed to be.
"I know." I said aloud as reading the text triggered my memory.
"Know what?" Twilight questioned.
"Hundreds of years ago, we were attacked by windigos because of our arguing, pride, and ignorance. Everypony wanted to prove that their element was the best of them all. We were frozen during my ceremony to rise as village chief. My father, who controlled wind, said I was to continue to make an effort to stop our arguing while my mother. who controlled mist, supported me in many ways." I said and grew tears.
'Father...Mother...I miss them so much...I'll make them proud.'
"Don't cry, I'm sure you would have been a great leader and that your parents are proud that you survived." Twilight said and put a hoof around me in a half-hug. My tears slowly stopped flowing and a smile dawned upon my face.
A knock came to the door before it opened to show two grey stallions in gold armor who quickly rushed towards me. I jumped back and charged my horn quickly, firing a bolt of lightning at them. They caught it in some cone-shaped object and continued running and catching my magic. They put the object on my horn and chained my legs. I was in no position to struggle or protest. My magic wouldn't start up.
"What is the meaning of this?!" Twilight outraged.
"That unicorn is very foreign and may be a threat to us." A stern, but motherly voice came from the door and a light green, blue, and pink maned alicorn walked through the door with golden attire. Her mane flowed with huge amounts of magic.
"Threat?!" I raged," I come here to find out who I am, what my purpose here is, which I did. Now I just want to save my village and live again. Take these restraints off of me!" I roared and the guards seemed a bit fearful in their eyes.
"Princess, don't judge him based off that reaction. He is telling the truth and he's my newest friend. Lightning Shot met Cadence." Twilight defended and this princess had a look of disbelief, but then of interest at me.
'It feels good to have a friend after all those years...'
"Take them off him." She commanded and the guards quickly removed them from me.
"Forgive me, I am Princess Celestia. Ruler of Equestria." She said and Twilight suddenly bowed. I just gave a nod with a stern look into her eyes.
"Rise, Twilight." She said and Twilight rose.
"Why didn't you bow?" She asked curiously with a look that told me she thought I was rebellious and disrespectful. That was the opposite of the case.
"Leadership was recognized with a stern look in the eyes and a nod to show sincerity and due respect. Also, I'm supposed to be a ruler myself." I said, "Speaking of, could you send me back in time with your powerful alicorn magic so I can save my village? I know we weren't seeing eye to eye, but overlook my previous reactions if you will." I asked.
"What is the name of your village?" Celestia asked.
"Elementis, a small place." I responded and Celestia grew a wide smile.
"I remember that special village of battle unicorns. I wish I knew what caused its disappearance, I'd love to see it return. I did know somepony by the name of Wind Force." She answered.
"That's my father, the...old chief. Now please, send me back, quickly." I stated.
'Hold on everypony, I'll save you all soon enough.'
Author's Note
That wraps up this chapter, sorry if it is short or rushed.
What will the upcoming events hold for our hero, Lightning Shot?
Find out in the next chapter!
[I always wanted to do that.]
"Lightning Shot..." A voice boomed behind me.
'Don't tell me that was a temporary spell'
All of my environment was white, I slowly turned around to confront this voice. I was met with the view of three alicorns.
'Whaaaaat...just happened?'
The first had a thick coat of fur colored the deep brown of dirt, with branches sprouting from his flank, head, and neck where his tail and mane should be. Upon those branches, rested bright green leaves that slightly waved and rustled as if there was some wind blowing.
The second had a crimson coat with orange wavy streaks in it, I could feel heat radiating from him. His mane and tail were obviously fire, with the exception that it was very dark and the flames waved slower than normal fire does. He looks like a blaze himself.
The final, third alicorn, was sporting a light blue and pure white mixture of color for her coat. Her mane and tail never mover once, never, and looked like many polygons attached by the edges to form a 3D object, to give it the perspective of being crystallized, it took on the color of teal with scratch mark shapes of white over it.
"Who are you ponies, and why am I here?" I asked in a stern voice.
"We are the..." The light blue alicorn started.
"Old Gods of Equestria, the first elements." The dirt-colored alicorn finished.
"I am Ifrit." The inferno of flames alicorn stated.
"I am Gaia." The tree like one followed.
"And I am Glacius." The icy alicorn finished the short introduction.
"Elementis was once a beautiful, prosperous city filled with many varieties and types of elements." Gaia spoke.
"After many repeating windigo attacks, it feel in numbers, each city was covered in snow and built on top of. Memory of what happened was repeatedly lost after each attack." Ifrit said.
"Because you broke the cruelness and resent in everyponies heart and got help from others. You saved Elementis and stopped the final attack of windigos." Glacius explained.
"Do you know your destiny?" The three asked in unison.
"Yes...to lead Elementis back to harmony and happiness." I answered with a determined face and confidence burning in my heart that shone in my sentence.
"Then it is time for you to return from this plane of barren white with us." They spoke together.
~~~~~
I saw a great view of the windigos attacking and the ponies gathered at the pillar I was now floating above. Gaia flew behind me, Ifrit to my right, and Glacius to my left.
Lightning erratically strewn across the sky followed by fire, rocks, and ice. The elements were coming from me and the Old Gods. We were all exerting astonishing levels of magic energy.
The windigos were quickly being obstructed into oblivion by our magic, I felt a new appendage while observing the scene, one that I was using, absentmindedly and involuntarily. Wings, quite big for my size. I estimated them to be at Celestia's size or bigger.
As the last windigo fell I, along with Gaia, Glacius, and Ifrit, landed in the snow.
The Elementians were staring at me, me...Lightning Shot...an alicorn .
'Well, this is interesting. How did I master my wings so fast?'
"Lightning Shot, is that you?" I heard Twilight ask, skeptical as she trotted up to me.
"Yes, it is. I feel so many charges in the air. Everypony is giving some off." I said as Celestia followed Twilight.
"That is normal. You feel your element, your power, around you because you control it, rule it, and you are a part of it." Ifrit stated.
"Now, Twilight, we must return to our time, we don't belong..." Celestia was cut off.
"No need, we have already done so." Glacius interrupted. "Now we should attend to our people." she continued.
"I'll warm the city." Ifrit announced before flying high and soaring over the sky, dropping embers that slowly warmed the air and melted the snow.
"I'll create some new plants and land." Gaia spoke and charged his horn. He made dirt sprout over ice and spread rapidly, the dirt went at least two yards high and reached the houses after the snow melted. Seeds shot out of his mane and quickly grew to make trees, flora, and flowers, all in specific locations. Animals slowly started to arrive from his magic.
"I'll do my job..." Glacius sighed and charged her horn, the snow and ice that was piled up over the years became solid, hard, and warm without melting. The snow stopped its slow and steady descent, though the air around Glacius was a tad bit cold.
"I guess it's my turn." I said with uncertainty and a tad of nervous. I charged my horn up and lowered the electrical charge in the air while making a slow drizzle fall.
"So, is that it?" I asked.
"No." Ifrit responded quickly as he landed.
"We govern the main elements of Equestria." Gaia explained.
"I warm Equestria, monitor volcanoes, and keep fires in control. Gaia controls plant growth, land activity, and where animals travel. Glacius governs the ice and snow, the cold winds, as well as when the clouds release snow and the cold temperatures." Ifrit explained.
"Then, are we done for now?" I asked.
"Almost, we have yet to declare our return and our rule." Glacius said with a smile.
'What does she mean by that.'
Author's Note
And another one bites the dust...
I'd love to see this story spread around, so if you could, then please do so.
And I've got a good question for you all, unrelated to this matter.
Do you talk about my stories or me on other sites or off-screen? I've just always wondered.
Everything was white...
white...
white...
white
When the blinding color mixture left me, I saw my village being attacked by the windigos.
Elements were flying everywhere into the sky. Few hit the windigos and even when it did, they acted as if nothing happened.
I then noticed that Celestia and Twilight were behind me.
"You have to help us fend them off." I said with the utmost urgency and some pleading. Twilight charged her horn to which Celestia interrupted and slowly shook her head.
"This is your village, your problem, so only you can stop it." Celestia stated and I turned my attention to the battle, ignoring her.
'Some help that is...'
I started running about, taking aim, and firing my lightning at the windigos, most of mine hit them, but did little to deter them.
Then..an idea hit me.
The solution is...
is teamwork.
"HEY! Everypony go to the town center!" I yelled and they gathered around the ancient pillar that held symbols of the elements that Elementis bore. I raced over to it myself.
Before I could reach it, my vision slowly blurred into white. The blanket of blinding alabaster covered my sight completely, when I reached the pillar.

More to come, the next chapter will be long.
