Twilight woke up in a firmiliar room. It looked like home... but this wasn't Ponyville. DING DONG a door bell rang. Shaking her head, the purple unicorn walked down a small flight of stairs and opened the door. "Um... Hello, mom." Twilight yawned. Twilight Velvet was standing outside, a smile on her face.
"Happy Birthday, Twi!" Shining Armour walked inside behind Twilight Velvet. There was a huge present in his hooves.
"Where's dad?" Twilight asked her mom, tilting her head.
"He's dead, dear... don't you remember?" Twilight Velvet and Shining exchanged a puzzled glace.
"But... I..." Twilight mumbled. Celestia helped me pay for that surgury! He lived, and I'm sure of it. The unicorn thought to herself
"I bought you a present!" Shining tried to edge away from the subject, handing her the present.
"Thanks." Twilight nodded. It was probobley just a dream. As she trotted to where she had seen the kitchen, she heard Twilight Velvet hiss
"For Sunset's sake, Shining! Stand up straight!" and then the two unicorns walked into the house.
"Would you like me to make breakfast?" Shining picked up a box of waffles.
"Sure." Twilight nodded. I'm not so sure how to do it myself! she added to silently, sitting down at a table with her mom.
"Dad! Dad! Come see what I found!" a small voice shouted from outside the room. Twilight turned her head to see a mini-version of Shining, with wings instead of a horn.
"What is it?" Shining asked the colt, putting a waffle in the toaster.
"This rock is red!" the colt smiled, showing his dad a smalll rock.
"That's great! why don't you show it to Grandma and Auntie Twilight?" Shining neighed reply, picking up a plate and putting a waffle on it.
"Auntie Twilight! I found a rock!" the colt announced proudly, showing the mares his possesion. Right before Twilight tried to "act" nice, she noticed her sudden fondness for the foal. This was her nephew, after all.
"That's wonderful Seaarmor!" Twilight Velvet replied. Twilight nodded, her waffle in her mouth. This wasn't the worst life. Maybe she could make new friends, based on the theory her other 5 didn't know her. That was setteld, then. But who's Princess Sunset? Could it be Sunset Shimmer? she asked herself, almost spitting out the waffle.
"Grandma! Can you tell me about the rulers of equestria again?" Seaarmor asked.
"Sure." Twilight Velvet nodded.
"There's my answer." Twilight mumbled. Then she relaxed and listened to her mom.
