Chapters Ruby: by Yuki Harima.
I have enjoyed many days in my life that I will cherish forever. I remember the day when I was born which I will always remember. I remember all the times I hung out with Twilight and her friends. All the trouble the cutie mark crusaders had gotten into and drag me along with them. All of the adventures we went on include the Crystal Empire where I helped stopped King Sombra from taking over. I especially remember when Twilight was turned into an alicorn which her friends and I did not see coming. Those are all great memories for me but there is one that I will cherish no matter how long I live, since it holds a special place in my heart.
It was on a cold January night. I decided to go out for a short walk with Apple Bloom for the night. This was going to be the first night Apple Bloom and I was going to hang out. I would usually spend time with her but she was always with the cutie mark crusaders trying to earn their cutie marks. This time we get the whole night to ourselves to do what we want.
I walked down the stairs of the library to see that Twilight is quietly reading a book next to the fire place; which is the only thing providing the warmth in the library. I tell her that I am leaving to Sweet Apple Acres. She looks away from what she was reading to stop me from going outside. Twilight scolded me that it was too cold for me to go out without a sweat shirt and a scarf. She levitated a purple and green striped sweat shirt with a matching scarf, that Rarity made for me, and put it on me against my will, but I knew better than to cause Twilight more problems after all that she has done for me.
I thank Twilight and head out into the cold, snowy town of Ponyville. The weather outside is cold. Frost was covering the windows of the library and the other houses of ponyville. I take a deep breath and let out to see my breath right in front of me. I look up to see the night sky which is as beautiful as ever. Only Princess Luna can make the best night skies.
I started to walk towards Sweet Apple Acres with thoughts on what Apple Bloom and I was going to do until a slight jingle caught my attention. I stop walking only to hear nothing but the nippy breeze which hits my ears. I continued walking and that is when the jingling continued. I realized that the noise was coming from my pockets. I reached in and pull out two bright red rubies. I smiled at them and thank silently in my head as I continued the slow pace to my destination.
The walk was long since Sweet Apple Acres was located on the other side of the library. It gave me enough time to take in the lonely, winter scene around me. There weren’t a lot of ponies out due to it being night time and the carts closed up early around this time of the year. I looked around the house to see most of them brightly lit from their warm fireplaces. I keep walking and take a look at the dimly lit lanterns lighting my path.
I arrived at the gate to Sweet Apple Acres and let myself in. I walked down the snowy path to the house; passing frozen dead trees along the way. This place is usually filled to the brim with Apple trees, making the orchard beautiful, but it looks dead around this time of the year.
I reached up the stairs and knock at the door. I could hear barking on the other side. I guessed Winona was trying to tell her owners that a guest was at the door. Applejack answered the door for me. She looked at me and gave me her signature friendly smile. She called Apple Bloom down and said that her “coltfriend” was here. I started to blush a little at the thought of me dating her. Apple Bloom came down in her red snow boots and her matching red scarf, and giggled at my flushed face. I tried to play it off that it was from the cold weather but she just giggled even more and my entire face just redden.
Once she was done laughing at my expense, we started on our walk. On the walk, we just talked about what was going on. Most of the time I just let Apple Bloom speak and I would listen. I was pretty content with just walking right next to her. This went on until we got to our destination: Sugarcube Corner.
We walk into sugarcube corner to feel a rush of warmth all over our bodies. Mrs. Cake welcomed us while closing down the shop since business slows down around this time in the day. I look over and see Applebloom eyeing all the sweets in a childish delight. I just giggled at her.
Then she eyes a chocolate bar near the counter. It was a big chocolate bar and I know it was her favorite. I smile at her knowing that she wanted to get the chocolate bar. I check my pockets to find some bits but I couldn’t find any…except for the two rubies in my pocket. I take one out and post it on the counter. When I look u, I saw Mrs. Cake smile at me, knowing what I was doing. She takes the ruby and gives me the chocolate bar. I smile at the kind gesture towards us. Applebloom graciously accepts the candy bar with glee but I held onto it until we get to our destination.
We leave the warmth of the SugarCube Corner into the desolate wonderland to make our way over to the park. It would be a quiet place for us to hang out and eat our food in peace and tranquility. Once we got there we sat down on the swings; which were our favorite spot to sit around and talk. I gave her the candy bar which she furiously took out of my claws. She unwrapped it and takes a bite of the chocolaty delight. I reach into the sweatshirt and pull out the ruby. I eye at the red gem and just smile, remembering how caring Twilight is towards me. I take a deep breath and blow on the Ruby. I think I accidentally breathed some fire on it because it glowed a bright red. It was bright against the desolate winter day and radiated sweet warmth into my claws. I take a bite out of it and I felt warmth radiate throughout my entire body. I don’t know how to explain it…but it felt good to me.
Applebloom was done with the chocolaty delight. She turned over to me as I was finishing the last bite of the ruby. I looked at her to be greeted by the cute puppy dog eyes the cutie mark crusaders are known for. I would always fall for that look as I couldn’t say no to it.
“What do you wanna do know?” I ask her, uncertain of what else there is to do in the winter wonderland.
“Can ya please push me on the swings.” Applebloom asked in her cute manor.
She was still staring at me with the puppydog look. I just couldn’t say no to her. “Alright I’ll push you on the swings.
Author's Note
This is a short story about Applebloom and Spike. The story is based from a poem i admire as a child and still do this day. The poem is called oranges by Gary Soto. I tried to finish it...and in fact...I could finish it right now but i lost the drive to do so. The tags are Romance and slice of life and features Spike and Applebloom

Today was a fun day. I went out and played with Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle and we tried to get our mud wrestling cutie marks but that didn’t work. We were upset but that doesn’t stop us from trying again tomorrow. I wish we can get our cutie marks really soon.
Journal entry 2
For some reason I woke up feeling all sweaty. I guess it got really hot last night but I doubt that. It is the middle of fall and it should be colder during the night. I’m sure it’s nothing to fret about. Anyway the cutie mark crusaders and I are going to go do some more exciting things to get our cutie marks. I hope this plan will work!
Journal entry 3
For some reason I woke up again to feel like I been running a mile. My bed was soaked with my sweat. I don’t know why this happens, maybe I should ask applejack but I don’t think I should bother her. She has been busy bucking apples for the fall harvest and I have to help her. It is an apple tradition. They need my help! I should probably ask them what I can do to help them right now! Write to you later.
Journal entry 4
Well it was hard working today and we got a ton of apple bucked. I just wished I could have helped more but I just felt tired. These night sweats have been bothering me and I wake up feeling tired, like I ran the running of the leaves. And during breakfast I wasn’t hungry at all. I am usually starving for breakfast when I wake up but I just didn’t feel like eating it. I think I need to lie down. I don’t feel well.
Journal entry 5
I don’t feel well. I told Applejack about what has been happening. I heard her mumble of something “it can’t be that” or something along that. I really couldn’t tell. So Applejack told me to go lie down in bed and miss school. I was fine with that but I couldn’t do anything with my friends. I guess we will have to postpone today’s activity until I get better. Also I had to take that medicine to help my with this fever I been getting. It is good for me…but taste terrible. Yuk! Well I should just lie down and go to sleep. I need to rest up so I can play with my friends tomorrow.
Journal entry 6:
Well the fever didn’t go away but I was in less pain than usual. So I told Applejack that I am fine and can go to school. I just hope that I don’t get sick during school. I really want to spend some time with my friends. They need me just like I need them in order to get our cutie marks. Well I think I hear Big Macintosh calling me down to get ready for school. I will write to you later.
“Oh my gosh! Applebloom are you okay!” A voice asks me in the background. I can’t really see. Everything seems so hazy.
“Somepony get Miss Cheerilee! Applebloom fainted and is having a nosebleed!” Wait…my nose is bleeding? When did that happen?
“It’s okay Applebloom Sweetie Belle is getting a teacher to come help you. You just need to tilt your head forward to help stop the blood from clogging you throat.” What is going on? I can’t see anything. Ow…my head is pounding. I hear Hoofsteps coming from a distances but one is heavier than the other pair.
“Oh my goodness.” A hoof presses on my forehead. Is that Miss Cheerilee? My vision is flickering. “Her breathing is rapid and she is having a fever. She is losing a lot of blood from her nose. We need to take her…” I black out.
Journal entry 7
Finally I am able to write in you again. It has been over 2 days before my sister got you for me. I ended up fainting in school. I don’t know why but everything seemed to be hazy. Someone even told me that my nose was bleeding. I don’t know how that happened. Did I run into somepony or did it happen when I fell? I am not sure. Anyway I am currently in the hospital. Applejack decided to stay over for the night to see how I was doing but had to leave since apple bucking season and they need all the help they can get. It is nice of her to stay over and watch me. She is the best big sister I ever have. OH! I almost forgot to tell you what they did to me. The first day being here they did nothing but made sure I was okay…or they could have done some test while I was sleeping…I don’t know. I was sleeping. Today, they stuck some needles in me. They really hurt! But…I had to be brave and bear with it. They need to “sample my blood” but the way the doctor said it made me think he was a vampony out to suck my blood. I better watch my back so I don’t wake up with fangs in my neck. I hope tomorrow turns out better. I overheard my sister and nurse Redheart talking about having my test results in…when did I take a test? I hope I don’t fail!
Journal entry 8
Today was the worst…I don’t know what happened or how did it come to this...but right now Applejack is in tears. I don’t understand why, but I know it was sad if it made my tough sister cry…
“I hope today goes well now that Applejack is here but why is Big Mac and Granny Smith here. They don’t look to happy at all. In fact, they look sad.” I look at Applejack and she just stares at the ground. “I wish I can do something to cheer them up.”
I hear the door open and everypony turns to see Nurse Redheart come in. Why is she sad too? Where is Pinkie Pie to cheer us up? This is the right moment for her to do that.
“Well Nurse Redheart…what do the test say” Applejack asks but in a worried tone. I don’t know why she is worried. I am fine…just feeling weak, have a headache with some other things…I am sure I can take medicine for it.
“The bone marrow test came in and it turns out…” Nurse redheart looks away. It seems like she is scared to say what will happen next. Everypony is waiting for her to say something but I don’t know what.
Nurse Redhert sighs, “Her test came positive…Applebloom has acute lymphoblastic leukemia. “ The room is silent the entire time...Applejack looks down crying. Why would she cry?
“No…no…” Applejack cries. “NO! She can’t have it! IT ISN’T TRUE!”
“What is wrong Applejack?” I ask her. She ignores me and continues what she was saying.
“She is too young to get it! I don’t believe the results!”
I look around the room Granny Smith is crying into big mac’s shoulder while he looks out the window. Why are they sad? WHY!
“Applejack….the bone marrow we took from Applebloom came out she has traces of it which is the best way we can tell if she has it or not…I am sorry Applejack but she has Leukemia.”
“No…no…” Applejack cries.
“We need to know where the disease is currently at. We need to make sure it hasn’t spread and for that we need a specialist to cast some spells designated to tell us where it is. We need Granny smith’s signature to let us preform the task. After we know where the disease is…we can treat her.”
Applejack is still crying and tells Nurse Redheart “Can you give us a moment. I don’t think Applebloom understands what is going on and we need to think this over.”
“I understand. I leave you and your family alone.” Nurese Redheart leaves the room.
Author's Note
This is a tragic story that is inspired by the song and the music video called Cancer by My Chemical Romance. I really think that this story was going to have people hate me when I finish it. I would be really happy if that happen cause that means i cause an emotion to escape from the readers eyes and that is the goal for a writer sometimes...to evoke emotion from the readers. This would have Nurse Redheart, Applejack, Applebloom, Big Mac, Granny Smith, and extra characters in the background.
Desolation Row: Yuki Harima
“Hey Pinkie Pie, where are you taking me?” Rainbow Dash asks her party friend.
“Don’t worry Rainbow Dash, I been here before.” Pinkie pie said, trying to relax her friend
Earlier today, Rainbow Dash was lying down on a cloud taking a quick nap.
“Hey Rainbow Dash!” Pinkie Pie sang. Rainbow Dash looks off to the side of the cloud to see her pink, energetic friend.
“Pinkie Pie” Rainbow Dash yawned “What is it do you want?”
“There’s a really cool club that I want to go tonight and it has great music and awesome food and really exciting and mmhhhm…” Pinkie Pie was stopped with a cyan hoof in her mouth. Rainbow Dash had flown down to stop Pinkie pie’s rant.
“Pinkie Pie what are you talking about?” she asked.
Rainbow Dash takes her hoof out to let Pinkie speak. “Well there is a club I want to go to but I don’t want to go by myself.” Pinkie Pie sped up in speed, “I ask Twilight first and she said that she was busy so I ask Rarity and she said that she was busy so I ask Fluttershy to come but she said that she had animals to take care of and I ask Applejack if she wanted to come and Mhmhmmmhm.”
Rainbow Dash put her hoof in Pinkie Pie’s mouth again. “All I heard was some party you want to go.” Rainbow Dash then pondered about going to a party. “Well since I am not busy…sure I would love to go with you.”
Pinkie Pie’s eyes got bigger and started shouting, “Really! Thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou!” She bounced around her friend. “You won’t be disappointed! Be at Sugarcube Corner at 8!”
Now here they are, in fillydelphia around 10 at night to go to a party at the Tower theater.
“Are you sure this place is such a good idea.” Rainbow Dash is still unsure about going to this place with all of these shady characters she sees. “These ponies don’t look like the type I would see you hang out with.”
Rainbow Dash looks around to see ponies in fake leather jackets, have wristbands with spikes coming out of them, ear piercings on their noses and ears, and some had their manes done in a spiked manner.
“Rainbow Dash, these ponies are all right and they know how to party!” Pinkie Pie exclaimed to her friend. “Now come on, slowpoke, we need to get in to find a good spot.”
What Pinkie pie told Rainbow Dash calmed her a little but it raised another question. “Wait…what do you mean a good spot?”
“Silly filly!” Pinkie Pie bops her friend in the nose. Rainbow Dash rubs her nose where Pinkie pie bopped it. “We need a good seat for the band.”
“Band? What band?
“I don’t know them but I hear they are the newest band to come from the east side of Equestria!” Pinkie Pie exclaims. They pass a ticket booth selling tickets to some of the ponies in line who didn’t buy in advance. Some of them were just chitchatting on some topics while others just wait in line to get some tickets. Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash walk up to a black maned pony who was guarding the front door.
“Tickets mam.” The guard grunts.
“Here you go!” Pinkie Pie bounces over to the guard and gave him their tickets.
“Enjoy the show.” He moves aside to let them in. The duo walks in to see that there were ponies everywhere with the occasional griffin here and there.
Author's Note
This story was a more...comedic one due to it being based on the song Desolation Row by My Chemical Romance and having a similar outlook to the music video. There was going to be a lot of fights going on and the guard was going to involved by punching them. This was actually started over a year ago before most stories...I just couldn't get into it and felt the dialog off or not really great. it stars Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash and has action and randomness about it.
A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words
A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words by Yuki Harima
Have you ever heard that a picture is worth a thousand words? When my parents first told me that, I was skeptical that such a simple photo can contain so many words. I would try to find the “words” in the photos but I can only get a couple dozen of words. Thinking about it, I was going at it all wrong. I was only trying to write words about the physical aspect of the picture. If the pony was smiling, I would say he/she was happy. If the pony had tears streaming down their face, I would say that they were sad or hurt. If the pony looked like they were shivering then I would say that they were cold. The method of just describing the physical aspect of the picture made me overlook the actual meaning of the photo. I should have been looking within the photo instead of what was on it.
It might sound silly at first when you think about it, a photo having some deep meaning within it seems farfetched but you need to think about it in a different perspective. Let’s take the smiling pony as our first example. On the outside the pony is smiling so you would always claim that the pony seems to be happy but as I said, you would only get the couple of words to describe it. Ask yourself some questions. Is that pony really happy? Is the pony just smiling because it is a photo and he or she just wanted to look nice for it? Maybe the pony is really sad and is masking the pain with a smile. Did something bad happen to the pony? Did a relative die? Did the pony receive bad news? You’re thinking that I am overanalyzing the situation just a tad much but how else will I get to achieve those one thousand words to describe the picture.
Author's Note
This is suppose to be Twilight telling her future pupil about a picture of her friends. She talks about the memories they have with them and how that the phrase is true. Twilight is also lamenting on their deaths as well due to her being immortal and etc as other stories have done so. It was written in a night...and I never look back on it to finish it.
I love College: By: Yuki Harima
At the local Fillydelphia College, an intense party took place. The aftermath of the party was devastating. Outside there were random ponies passed out. Some were asleep on the ground. There’s a mattress that seemed to be thrown out the window on the front lawn with other ponies asleep on it. Some of the ponies were even passed out in a small kiddie pool. The trees were filled with toilet paper and passed out pegasi trying to rest that hangover.
The inside of the house didn’t fare either. Red solo cups were littered all over the ground. Someponies had words and pictures scribbled across their faces and chests. One pony was passed out over the toilet that was filled to the brim with vomit.
On the couch passed out, was Berry Punch who was sleeping next to a grey stallion. The sun starts to shine through the window and is reaching towards Berry Punch. She starts to grumble and stirs in her makeshift bed to avoid the bright light. Unfortunately for her, the light was persistent and woke her up.
“Uggg…what happen last night. Ow…my head.” Berry Punch drowsily said, while rubbing the migraine that was forming with her hoof. She looks around the room to find out where she’s at. “Where did this stallion come from? Also…ow…What happen last night?”
As Berry Punch got up from the couch a DVD fell off her lap and onto the floor. What was written on the DVD was Last Night. She just stares at the DVD wondering where it came from.
“Well this DVD said Last Night on it. “Berry Punch inspects it. “I should check it out to find out what the hell happened last night.”
Berry Punch grabs the DVD in her mouth She walks up to a TV while avoiding the bodies of unconscious ponies lying on the floor. She puts it in and press play.
Music appears in the background as the video shows Berry Punch walking in to the college frat house. Ponies everywhere were drinking bottles of beer while some unicorns started to bring in some beer kegs.
Inside the frat house, there were ponies dancing to some of the music. Some were in the corner smoking some weed. Berry punch walked up to those ponies and gave them a broohoof.
Author's Note
This is another story that is going to be comedic. It stars Berry Punch and her drunken adventures in college. Yes, it is named after the song I love College by Asher Roth. There was going to be a lot of humor involved but it was hard for me to take it serious and college took over. This is also around September where i started writing it and got the idea from a seminar at the college.
