Otherwise, you won't understand the story. The Spectroscopy Theory By Elias Fuentes Part One A Theory Unveiled Elias kneeled up from the ground after visiting his friend’s burial site. It had been a year since the first time he went to his friend, Lucas’s, grave. Rainbow Dash, who was now two years old, went up to Eli and gave him an affectionate hug. Eli was thankful for having a friend like Rainbow Dash. He returned the hug and walked towards his new home. He walked in, the pony-who could be much recognized from her as being a filly like in The Cutie Mark Chronicles-by his side. He walked towards his friend, Gage’s, room and sat down. “Where did you go?” asked Gage. “Oh, just visiting Lucas’s grave, again,” responded Eli who was looking out of the window at the snow covered ground. “Ok, well you can play some x-box with me if you want,” “Ok, Dashie, you can help yourself to some food if you’d like,” “Good, I’m starving,” the pony exaggerated she said walking over to where Elias’s bag was, a little wing flap in her step, and grabbed an apple out of the bag to munch on. Gage often wondered how she could talk but Elias would always tell him to “Deal with it”. Gage would also wonder how pegasi were real but then again “Weird, unexplainable things can happen” Gage would say. Gage and Elias continued to play some x-box while the pony would watch. Occasionally, Elias would try giving Rainbow Dash a turn but it never really ended up well considering Dashie has hooves instead of hands, “Well, I might want to get reading and study some more on spectroscopy,” Elias stated. “Ok,” Gage responded. “Ooh, can I join?” asked the rainbow pegasus, flapping her wings in excitement. “Of course you can Dashie,” Elias said walking towards the study, the pony following behind. “So, what is spectroscopy?” Rainbow Dash inquired. “Well it’s like the analysis of light or different forms of radiation that is in terms of spectrum,” Elias explained “Hmm, those words sound somewhat rather familiar,” “Do they now?” Elias said walking into the study. “Well, spectrum is the arrangement of waves in their order of their wavelength. This also goes into the study of quantum theory, the study of lights energy and amount of light, example like blue light has more energy than red light.” “Holy guacamole, all of this sounds confusing,” “Oh yeah it is very confusing,” Elias said, pulling a book from a bookshelf “Even I barely understand it. The study of spectroscopy started around 1666 when a scientist named Isaac Newton started his experiments with a prism. He noticed that in the spectrum of sunlight, there are a number of fine dark lines superimposed, or laid over or above something, on the colors of a rainbow. He took these lines as a boundary between the colors of a rainbow. “Ooh, I like rainbows,” said Rainbow Dash excitedly. “And so do I,” agreed Elias “In the late of the 19th century another scientist by the name of Joseph von Fraunhofer discovered that there is a large number of these lines and he catalogued several hundred of them. He called these lines, Fraunhofer lines; he just couldn’t explain what they’re there for. “Sounds interesting,” Rainbow Dash commented. “Yes it is very interesting,” Elias agreed “It was not until two scientists, one of them being Gustav Kirchhoff and the other being Robert Bunsen, discovered the true nature of Fraunhofer lines. They discovered that each line corresponds with the bright line that would be produced by the element that was glowing, be it the sun or a rainbow, and helps by identifying that element of the spectrum. So, basically, the lines act as a way to identify the colors of the rainbow.” “Wow,” uttered Rainbow Dash in a flabbergasted tone “Never in my life have I learnt so much,” “Yeah, it is very confusing which is why I strive to learn a better understanding of Spectrum theory. “Ok, well if this is so confusing I’ll leave you to your studying; in the meantime… to the x-box!” And at that the pony left. Elias continued to study more and more about Spectrum theory; about scientists learning more about these Fraunhofer lines; giving a better understanding to their different purposes. Elias learned that some spectra is simple and others are complicated, the differences in the makeup of a different lines atoms, that some spectra have a different element in the periodic table of elements making them up. This topic is very relevant to quantum theory but it depends on which way you view the quantum theory. If you study spectroscopy, then you believe that the quantum that makes up the brightness of our world energy has a limit and that it isn’t continuous. Instead it is radiated in individual packets of light, therefore not having and endless beam, called quantum, plural quanta. At that moment, Rainbow Dash returned to the study. “Hey, still studying I see,” she said looking at the book I was reading. “Yeah, some interesting stuff in here, but still it is very confusing,” Elias responded. “Rainbow Dash, for a while, I have been wondering how you’ve known some of the things you’ve known in the past. When you were but a baby and were with me, I would talk to you and you seemed to understand what I would say. Also when I would give you something to eat, you would eat it right away without wondering what it was. How did you know all this? Were you with someone before you met me?” Rainbow Dash let out a sigh. “Well, the past is really kind of a blur. I do remember being with you but before that, not so much. I do know that I had parents that cared for me and that I lived in a place called Equestria and that I was taught different words and their meanings. Since I was with other people before I ate things before so I knew what food was and what wasn’t,” Rainbow Dash explained. Elias took this in with great thought. “And how did you get to the place where I found you in?” Elias inquired. “Well, this is where that so called “Spectroscopy” thing comes into place. Well you taught me that there is a radiation that comes off of spectrum, which is what makes up rainbows. Well, my parents got rid of me,” at this, Rainbow Dash started to choke up but she braved through and continued “So they sent me off to a different place. Why? I don’t know. So, something that I caught along with is that when you started talking about rainbows and their spectra, it made me think back in the past. My parents sent me off through a rainbow.” This made Elias think very hard about what this might’ve meant. “So, wait a minute, if I am correct, you could be saying that somewhere in this theory about spectroscopy, that there is something else to be discovered and that there is a link between the human world and Equestria?” “I suppose that is correct,” Elias racked up his brain with all the possible ideas of what this could be. “My guess is that the rainbow or somewhere on the rainbow, that link exist and if we can get to that link we could get access to Equestria,” Elias thought about how ridiculous this was but then again, he learned that in the past his ridiculousness wasn’t always so illogical. “That most definitely could be it,” Elias thought harder than he ever had before. “I also am guessing that there is a certain point on the rainbow that we must have contact with or some other way to get access on that point to get to Equestria?” “I’m guessing that’s it,” “There can only be one thing to do then,” Elias said putting on some scientific goggles “I must so further research on this theory you have dawned upon me; for science and my friend Rainbow Dash!” Rainbow Dash giggled and left the room to leave Elias to his studying. “So could this theory really be true and possible,” Elias said to himself “And if this is true, how exactly can I conduct the radiation being produced off of this certain point on a rainbow.” This made the gears in Elias’s head really turn. “There’s only one thing I can do: further research,” Elias said opening more books on the study of spectroscopy and also opening some tabs on the computer in the room. All of this really made Elias wonder what other possibilities of things is out there if there is a link to Equestria. What theory exactly has been unveiled for Elias to learn about…? Chapter Two: Radiance of the SpectrumPart Two Radiance of the Spectrum And so Elias thought away at the desk in the study. He thought and thought of the different possibilities of how the theory could be done. “Well, the sun is made up of Ultraviolet radiation and if the sun’s light is spectrum then therefore the rainbow is made up of spectrum; and if spectrum is UV radiation then the rainbow has UV radiation conducting through it,” Elias thought to himself “If there is a certain radiation point on the spectrum of the rainbow and we get to or gain control of that radiation point, then we have access to the link between Equestria and Earth. Thing is, where is that point and how do we get to or gain control of its UV radiation?” Elias started to look up “How do you conduct UV radiation?” but he couldn’t find anything useful. “I probably could make an artificial rainbow and after finding out where the specific UV radiation was I might have to extract the UV from that point therefore having that link to use,” Elias thought “I guess the most important thing to do right now is to figure out where the point is.” “Wow,” Elias thought “It’s like Theoryception. Now how do I figure out where this certain point is? I could try extracting a sample of every color of spectrum, but that’s where the main problem comes in: how do I extract the UV from the rest of the rainbow?” This problem really frustrated Elias. The internet wasn’t of much help. All Elias learned was that a rainbow is made of UV-b radiation. He wasn’t sure if this would be helpful. Elias got up and grabbed a flashlight and a prism. He flashed the light the prism and saw the rainbow made from the bending of the light. Elias looked at the different colors and thought more. “I just need to extract every colors radiation so that all colors are separated and ready for testing which colors have the link,” Elias thought. He rubbed his wrist on his eyes in exhaustion. “Oh, this could be so much more simpler if you could just have contact with the rainbow, but if that was so, then Equestria wouldn’t be so secret and people would be teleporting there without any struggle, but it was worth a try” Elias said to himself, making the rainbow once again with the light and prism “Hey Rainbow Dash, could you please come here?” And after a few seconds, Rainbow Dash came into the study. “Hey, Elias, what did you need?” responded Rainbow Dash “Ooh, a rainbow!” she said looking down at the rainbow on the ground. “I need you to put your hoof on every separate color of the rainbow that is on the ground. All seven colors,” “Ok,” said Rainbow Dash walking towards the rainbow. Elias decided to have a pony to step on the colors because there might be some kind of reaction with an Equestrian stepping on the link to Equestria. The pony put her hoof down on the first color of the rainbow, red. Nothing happened. Then orange, no reaction, yellow, no reaction, green, again, no reaction. But when she put her hoof down on the blue, a bright, white light started to fade in where the blue used to be. It continued to glow. “Interesting,” Elias commented “Go on.” She gave a nod and looked between the blue and purple trying to find indigo, as indigo is a rather hard color to find on the rainbow. Once she found it, she put her hoof down, no reaction, finally purple, no reaction. “Ok, thanks, Rainbow Dash,” Elias said. “You’re welcome,” Rainbow Dash said walking out of the room. Elias continued thinking about what had happened. “What had happened with the contact between the pony and the blue spectrum? Blue had to be the link.” Now the hardest part came: how to extract blue spectrum from the rest of the rainbow. Could it have something to do with Rainbow Dash and the blue spectrum; or perhaps something to do with the Fraunhofer lines, After all the lines also act as boundaries between the energy between different spectra. “Hey, Rainbow Dash, I need you again,” Elias called out, and soon, the rainbow pony walking back into the study. “What’s up,” Rainbow Dash said. “We’re are going to be doing an experiment,” “Ok, what are we going to be doing?” “I’m not sure what, but I have to try something. I don’t even know if it will work but what I have learnt in the past is that even some of the most radical ideas I have had were true.” “Ok, well educate me on what we will need.” Elias went to a cabinet of his and opened it up. “Some safety gloves, that should be it, for now,” Elias said as he pulled out some rubber gloves. He also pulled out some rubber gloves that the pony could wear; Elias made them not long ago for a different experiment that a pony could do, due to their lack of hands. “Ok, let’s go outside,” Elias said grabbing the gloves, the prism, the light, and a glass phial just in case. Elias had a feeling he would need it. And so the two went outside and went along with their experiment. “Ok, put your hoof back on the blue of the rainbow,” Elias said holding a prism in the air. Rainbow Dash put her hoof on the blue spectrum. The same thing happened. The blue part of the rainbow started to glow white. “Alright now, while keeping your hoof on the ground, slide it away from the rainbow.” The pony did so and as she did the glowing white stripe followed along with her hoof; once the stripe was fully separated from the rest of the spectrum, the other colors-red, orange, yellow, green, indigo, and violet-turned into smoke. The smoke was the colors of the colors before them for a few seconds until they almost immediately changed into gray until the smoke diminished in the air. All that remained was the glowing stripe under Rainbow Dash’s hoof. “Ok, please keep your hoof there,” Elias said putting down the prism and grabbing the glass phial removing the cork from the top and holding the phial upside down. Elias walked over to where Rainbow Dash was and knelt down in front of the striped, phial over the glowing blue spectrum. “Ok, now take your hoof off of it.” She gave a nod and the stripe turned back into blue, but when it did, it turned into blue smoke. Quickly, Elias gathered the smoke into the phial, its blue color still being contained. “Yes success!” Elias exclaimed “Alright, what is in this phial is the link to Equestria. As I was observing, when you had your hoof on the glowing matter when it was separated from the rest of the spectrum, you weren’t translocated to Equestria. Thank goodness because one: I don’t know if there are other Equestrians in the human realm so there might only be one way to transfer there, which is you, and two: I wouldn’t want to be left here without you,” “Well thank goodness that didn’t happen,” Rainbow Dash said giving Elias a hug for the show of affection he shown her. “And now we have the link,” Elias said “I’m thinking that the reasoning for why you weren’t translocated is because the link isn’t active. So we have to activate it in some way and that I have to figure out.” “Well, I wish you the best of luck, Elias,” said Rainbow Dash “Whew, I’m glad we found the certain radiance of the spectrum. That could’ve been a WHOLE lot harder than what it could’ve been.” “Ok, well that was fun,” “I can’t believe what we’ve discovered,” “You know what, you should give that thing you discovered a name,” “Yeah, well right now it is in its gas form so I think I might call it ‘Azulrythium’,” Elias said. “Sounds cool!” said Rainbow Dash. “Ok, well thanks for your help,” Elias said. “Anytime,” Rainbow Dash said, walking inside. Elias followed behind her and went back into his study to learn more about spectrum and also to think to himself in peace. He was glad that what he thought was the hard part was over, but he has the hardest part yet to come: activating the link that is the Azulrythium. Finally, the radiance of the spectrum was found but there still is more for Elias to learn. Chapter Three: I'll Be What I Will BePart Three I’ll Be What I’ll Be It was about 3:00 AM and Elias was still up reading more and more on spectroscopy, searching to see if anyone has ever experienced what he had experienced. Elias went on YouTube, Google, and through several book both online and on print, but he couldn’t find anything. “Oh, I guess I’m just going to figure out how to do this myself,” Elias said to himself, letting out a sigh. At that moment Gage walked into Elias’s study. “Dude you really should get some rest. You haven’t been getting lots of sleep lately. I know you’ve been staying up late studying that stupid thing you believe to work,” Gage said. “Stupid? What makes this stupid? I have a pegasus as a friend and you’re saying that you doubt this to be true? What do you know about this? I have experience much more in science than what you know and you’re questioning my intelligence?” Elias said raising his voice. His sister, Lyric, came into the doorway. “We’re only caring about your health, Elias,” Lyric said. “My health? Why I’m feeling perfectly fine,” Elias lied. He really didn’t feel like himself. In fact, he felt quite rather insane, but there was nothing wrong with that in Elias’s opinion. “What would you know about my health? I am my own body and you don’t know what I feel like. It is my responsibility to take care of myself.” “We are only trying to help you. And either way, didn’t you come here in the past because you needed a place to stay?” Gage asked. “Well yes, but it still is my own responsibility to take care of myself and I know just how to do that. I don’t require you help for I came help myself,” Elias responded. “Come on, Gage. Let’s just leave it be, for now,” Lyric said to her brother, and at that, the two left. A few minutes past and Rainbow Dash came into the study. She must’ve been awoken from her sleep by the yelling Elias had done. “Is everything alright?” Rainbow Dash asked as she walked into the study. “So far with the spectrum theory, it might be going good, more or less; but with Gage, no. They think they know what they’re talking about but they’re wrong,” Elias said. “Maybe they’re right. Perhaps you should give the theory a rest and go to bed.” “Don’t tell me you’re taking their side?” “You should get some rest. It is what is best for you right now.” “No.” “Yes, you’ve got to take care of yourself,” “No, I am taking care of myself. I don’t need to get some rest. I need to get the link activated so you and I can get to Equestria,” Elias said his voice getting angrier. “Yes.” “NO, I’M FINE THE WAY I AM, I’LL BE WHAT I WILL BE!” Elias yelled grabbing a spare prism and turning around and threw it at the wall. It almost hit Rainbow Dash in the face. She looked at the shards of glass that were on the ground and then looking at Elias, eyes starting to water. Elias realized how unethical he was being. Rainbow Dash dashed out of the room. “No, Rainbow Dash, I’m sorry!” Elias yelled bounding out the room after her. Gage opened his door to look at what was happening. All he saw was Rainbow Dash running out the front door and Elias chasing after her. Elias ran out onto the snow covered trying to catch up with Rainbow Dash, but she was too fast. She ran and disappeared into the nearby forest. “No, Rainbow Dash, don’t go, I’m sorry!” Elias yelled once again. Elias hurriedly ran back into the house and put on his warm coat and sweatpants. But before he could go, Gage stopped him in his tracks. “Hey, just let her go. She’ll be back, instead, just get some rest,” Gage insisted. “No, I’m not letting anything happen to her!” Elias said, dashing out of the house and into the woods. It was really dark but he had to be persistent. Elias wasn’t going to let anything happen to Rainbow Dash. He continued on. Due to Elias’s lack of sleep, he had little sanity in his body. He started to see hallucinations like a slenderman reaching out towards him in the darkness, a body that had a spike through its body, blood coming from its mouth, and nothing but dark holes for eyes. He saw a hallucination of Pinkamena from the fanfic “Cupcakes”, and last was the worst. A, well, what used to be human but what was now mutilated. There was a crack going down its head exposing its brain and a broken jaw, arm, and ribs exposing out its chest. Something about this hallucination looked familiar though. “Lucas?” Elias whispered under his breath. And once Elias said that, without warning, the hallucinations bounded after Elias. Elias couldn’t tell whether they were real or not, but either way, he was going to run. Elias continued to run until something caught his eye. It was Rainbow Dash. “Rainbow Dash, I really am sorry. I don’t know why I did it, I was just losing it. Please forgive me,” Elias said. Elias continued to look at Rainbow Dash until he turned around to check if the monstrosities were still there. They sure as well were, in fact, when Elias turned around, he saw the mutilated face of Lucas looking straight at him, only inches from his face. Elias wasn't expecting this and this scared him half to death. Elias fainted both from fear and sleep deprivation. The next morning, Elias woke up, thankfully, his hood to his coat prevented from his face from touching any snow. Elias looked around and rubbed his eyes. He was still slightly shaken from what happened to him last night. It was then till Elias felt something cuddled next to his stomach. It was Rainbow Dash. Elias leaned up and hugged the rainbow pony. “I’m sorry, Rainbow Dash. I don’t know why I did that. I was just angry at people telling me what to do, but I should’ve taken Gage’s and your advice,” Elias said. “It’s ok, Elias,” Rainbow Dash responded. “No, it’s not ok. What if I did hit you? Not only shouldn’t you forgive me if I did hit you, but I would never be able to forgive myself,” Elias said. “Thing is, I’m didn’t get hurt and I forgive you for your action. Just take your friends advice.” “I will,” Elias said as he got up “Come on, let’s get back home.” And Elias and Rainbow Dash walked back to the house. When they got back, Elias went into Gage’s room. “Hey, I’m sorry for denying your advice, Gage,” Elias said to his friend. “It’s ok,” Gage responded “Just, you know, take it easy. I know what you’re doing means a lot to you and Rainbow Dash and I shouldn’t have disrespected what you believed in. Hey, this Equestria might be real, continue your studying but don’t take it too hard.” “Thanks for seeing it in my perspective. That is a good sign of a good social relationship,” Elias said. “Thanks.” Elias started thinking to himself “Dear Princess Celestia,” (as Twilight Sparkle would say) “Today I learnt a good lesson about friendship. Never deny your friends suggestions for they might turn out to be what helps you out in your life whether it comes to situations like hurting your relationship with your friend or even physically hurting someone.” Elias went to his study and sat on the comfy chair in his study, reclined the chair, and fell asleep, Rainbow Dash sleeping on Elias’s lap. Chapter Four: Chemistry, Azulryllium, and the FrameworkPart Four Chemistry, Azulryllium, and the Framework Elias started to observe the swirling blue Azulrythium in a flask on his desk. He started wondering about the link that existed within this smoke. “When Rainbow Dash had the link under her hoof, she wasn’t translocated so that means that the link isn’t active,” Elias thought “So what would activate?” Elias continued thinking “Electricity!” Elias thought that this had to be it since lightning has extreme amounts of energy. “But lightning doesn’t conduct through gas. I have to change the Azulrythium into a liquid.” Elias went into his supply closet and grabbed a different kind of glass flasks. This one was a phial with a glass tube running from the top of it into another flask. Elias uncorked the flask on the bottom. He had a rather odd idea that he needs to add water into the gas. Why? One, because it would conduct the electricity better, and two, it would help with cooling the Azulrythium into a liquid. Elias grabbed the phial containing the Azulrythium and carefully transferred it into the bottom phial of the flask rack. The smoke ran up through the glass tube and into the top flask. Elias went and filled a phial with a somewhat small amount of water. He went back to the flasks and filled the bottom one with the water. Elias went back to his supply closet and grabbed a hot plate that he plugged into an outlet in the wall. Once the plate started to boil the water, the steam traveled through the glass tube and mixed with the Azulrythium. This was what had to be activated; this was the link at its most visible state. Later on, the mixture of water being in the Azulrythium allowed the mixture to turn into liquid at room temperature. “Next was to get electricity in contact with the liquid,” Elias thought as he poured the pure blue liquid into a phial. “Great, I hope this will turn out to be easier than what I think it is going to be.” Elias continued to think. “What if this is supposed to act as some kind of a portal?” Elias thought “Maybe I have to make some kind of metal framework to hold the liquid while also conducting electricity through it. Hmm, this means I’m going to have to get some metalsmithing done,” Elias thought grabbing some iron piping from the supply closet. “Hmm, the length seems right. Ooh, Gage likes blacksmithing; maybe he will be willing to bend the piping.” Elias walked out of the study, down the hallway, and into Gages room, who, not surprisingly was still on his x-box, Rainbow Dash watching him play his video games. “Hey Gage, I have a project for you that you might enjoy.” “Sure, what is it?” Gage inquired. “I need you to take this metal pipe,” Elias said, pointing at the iron pipe in his hands “And bend it into a ¾ circle.” “Sweet, I haven’t done any blacksmithing in a while,” “Awesome,” “Ooh, can I help?” Rainbow Dash asked. Elias thought about this. “What do you think, Gage?” Elias asked. “If she can be safe, sure” he responded. “Ok, Rainbow Dash, but you have to promise to be careful and follow Gage’s orders,” Elias said. “Awesome!” Rainbow Dash exclaimed, heading towards the door followed by Gage. “Gage,” Elias said before Gage could leave “Make sure you keep her safe.” Elias gave him the iron pipe. Gage gave a nod and headed outside towards his fire pit, Rainbow Dash following behind him. Elias moved over to the x-box and started to play some of his favorite games like The Lord of the Rings: Conquest. Later on, when it was about evening twilight, Rainbow Dash and Gage came back inside. “The metal should be cooled down tomorrow,” Gage said sitting next to Elias on the couch watching The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (a movie that Elias always loved). “Awesome, thanks Gage. Thanks Rainbow Dash,” Elias said. “You’re welcome,” Rainbow Dash replied taking a seat next to Elias. “You’re welcome,” Gage said. *The next day* Elias woke up and had a breakfast of some breakfast *lawl*. Once, he was finished, he walked out the door and to the fire pit. An iron ¾ circle was lying next to the pit. Elias gave it a tap test to make sure the metal was cool enough to hold. Fortunately, it was. The frame was big enough for a human to go through, which was what Elias was aiming for. “Where am I going to put this?” Elias thought. “I suppose I could put it in the basement.” Elias grabbed the frame and walked towards the house. Once he fit the frame through the door, he noticed Gage’s mother, Charlene, was now awake and eating breakfast. “Hey Charlene, can I put this in the basement,” Elias said showing her the frame. “Sure thing,” Charlene said. Again, Elias was always grateful for Charlene always being accepting for she didn’t ask any questions about what the metal frame was for. Elias went down the stairs to the basement and leaned the frame along the wall. Elias walked back upstairs and into his study. The frame needed something to stand up on. Elias opened the supple closet and grabbed two sheets of iron out of the closet. In case you are wondering where Elias gets all this metal from, well, Gage makes his own swords and shields. Not some kind of simple length of sharpened metal, but actual legit weaponry. Elias walked back to the dining room, where Gage was now eating breakfast. “Could you please bend this sheet of metal into a triangle only without the bottom?” Elias asked Gage. “Of course,” Gage said “I will after I finish breakfast. “Awesome, thanks,” “No problem,” Gage said as he finished his cereal. He grabbed the sheet of metal and went back outside. At that, Rainbow Dash came out from her room, which was Gage’s/ Elias’s room for there was a second bed lofted onto the wall which Elias slept in and another smaller bed which was for Rainbow Dash, this made the room a bit crammed but hey, I won’t get too into detail. Rainbow Dash ate a breakfast of some carrots and an apple. “So, how is your sciency stuff going?” Rainbow Dash asked. “Pretty nice,” Elias responded. “Awesome, so in anytime soon I will be able to go to Equestria?” “Pretty much,” Elias said. “Sweet,” Rainbow Dash stated as she went outside to go and play or practice her flying. “Be careful,” Elias reminded as he grabbed the second sheet of metal and went outside and over to the fire pit where Gage was working. “How’s it going?” Elias inquired. “Oh, just waiting for the metal to get red hot,” Gage responded. “How long should that take?” “Not much longer now.” Elias examined the metal in the hot coal fire. The metal was almost completely red near the center. After a few minutes, Gage put on some very thick gloves and tongs, clamped the metal with the tongs, and lifted the sheet over to where an anvil was. Once he set it on the anvil, he grabbed a hammer and started to hammer the sheet into a “v” shape. Elias noticed an empty wooden bucket on the ground. “I’m going to fill this with water that way we can cool the metal faster,” Elias said. Gage took a glance at what Elias was talking about. “Ok,” he replied. Elias filled the bucket inside the house and went back outside. The metal was now formed into a well-angled “v”. “Ok, go ahead and put the metal in here,” Elias said as he set the bucket on a table next to the anvil. Gage put the hot metal in the bucket of water. The water hissed and boiled when the metal contacted the water but that his soon died down. Elias checked on Rainbow Dash who was still working on getting into the air. After a few seconds, Gage took the metal out of the bucket and set it on the table. “Ok, now I need you to weld this metal sheet,” Elias said picking up the metal sheet “Onto the bottom of that metal v.” Gage nodded and went to his supply crate. He pulled out a welding mask, a welder, and some welding flux. He started working on the welding. Elias went inside and grabbed his book, went back outside, and started to read. After a couple of minutes, Elias decided to watch Rainbow Dash and her flying. She started to get a running start and when she had good speed she flapped her wings. She got a few good feet of the ground, but she soon started to descend back to the ground. Once she touched the ground, she looked around and saw Elias watching her. She trotted over to him. “I can’t do it,” Rainbow Dash said. “Yes you can. You were so close to doing it last time. Try again, I bet you’ll get it soon,” Elias responded. And at that, Rainbow Dash went back to where she was practicing. She tried again. She ran and got good speed she then leaped into the air and started flapping her wings. This time she went even higher about 5 ½ feet and she even sustained it this time longer. But she started to lose altitude and soon, she safely landed on the ground. “You can do it!” Elias yelled “Try it again.” Elias even slipped in a faint “Yay”. She did the same process. She started to run and then jumped into the air and she flapped her wings faster than last time. She again rose a little higher than last time. Rainbow Dash sustained it for a while. Rainbow Dash was flying. She landed on the ground and trotted back to Elias. “Awesome job, Rainbow Dash,” Elias said. “Thanks dad, I mean, Elias,” Rainbow Dash said. Elias took the fact that she just called him dad into consideration. He lifted up a balled up fist and Rainbow Dash lifted her hoof and they, what one could say, bro-hoofed. Elias got up and walked over to Gage. He just got done welding the sheet onto the bottom of the metal v so that it now was a metal triangular prism. “Ok, now I need you to follow me and bring your welding supplies,” Elias ordered. Elias went inside the house and so followed Gage and Rainbow Dash. Elias went downstairs into the basement. “I need you to weld that metal prism onto the part of that metal frame where the circle cuts off,” “Sure thing,” Gage said and got to work on the welding. Elias and Rainbow Dash went back upstairs and into the study. Elias examined the new liquid he made earlier. “Is that the Azulrythy thingy,” Rainbow Dash asked. “Yes but this is in its liquid form,” Elias responded. “Ah, so what are you going to call it now?” “I’m going to be calling it Azulryllium,” “That’s cool, I guess; so now what are you going to do next?” Elias looked at the liquid and thought. “I’m going to have to set up the translocation network’s portal.”… Chapter Five: Activating the NetworkPart Five Activating the Network Elias walked downstairs, bottle of Azulryllium in his hand. “Hey, is the welding almost done?” Elias asked Gage who was working on welding a metal triangular prism to the bottom of a ¾ circle. “Almost done,” Gage responded lifting his welding mask to respond and then putting it back down to continue his welding. And then Elias almost forgot. “Gage, wait,” Elias exclaimed before Gage could weld the first side of the prism onto one of the side of the circle. Elias ran upstairs, into his study, and opened his supply closet. He grabbed two rubber cylinders that were about one inch tall and ran back downstairs. “Here, make sure that before you weld the prism to the circle that you put these rubber cylinders in between the prism and the circle.” “Sure,” Gage said “Except, I’ll have to get some materials to cement the rubber to the metal.” Gage took off his mask and went up the stairs, back outside, to his supple crate in his backyard, grabbed the cementing material he needed, back to the house, and, finally, back downstairs. “Ok, well I’ll just go back upstairs and play some Dragon Age,” Elias said. “Ok,” Gage replied as he got to work on the rubber. Elias walked upstairs and into Gage’s room. Elias turned on the x-box and put in Dragon Age. Elias played for a few minutes until Rainbow Dash came in. “So how is the portal thing going?” she asked. “Pretty nice, the frame is almost done. Once it is done, I will set up the actual portal and then activate it so, basically, you will be able to go to Equestria pretty soon,” Elias replied. “So, are you going to be coming with me?” “Do you want me to come?” “Of course!” she said. “Then I will go.” “What about your friend Gage here?” “I will figure that out once the portal is active,” Elias pressed the X in the middle of the controller and the menu was brought up. “Ooh, it is getting late,” Elias said looking at the time on the menu which said 10:58. “We might want to get ready for bed.” “Ok,” Rainbow Dash got up, followed by Elias, and went to the bathroom to brush their teeth. In case you were wondering, Rainbow Dash was able to brush her teeth, only, she would had struggle with it but either way she got it done. Elias tucked Rainbow Dash into her bed. “Ok, well, I’ll be back, I’m going to check on Gage’s work,” Elias said turning on a rainbow night light, for Rainbow Dash, and turned off the light that wasn’t the night light. Elias went downstairs and saw Gage gathering up his supplies. “Oh great, you’re done?” Elias inquired. “Yeah,” he responded as he walked up the stairs and outside to put his supplies back in his supply crate. Elias went back to Gage’s room, which shall be called his bedroom henceforth, and started to climb up the ladder that led up to his lofted bed, but he was interrupted in his climb by Rainbow Dash. “Eli?” she asked for Elias’s attention. “Yes, Rainbow Dash?” he asked back. “I can’t go to sleep. I keep hearing scary noise from outside,” she said. Elias started to climb back down the ladder and sat down next to Rainbow Dash’s bed. “There is nothing to be scared of Dashie. Dashie, you got to stand up tall. Learn to face your fears; you’ll see that they can’t hurt you. Just laugh and make them disappear,” Elias sang. “Ha, ha, ha,” Rainbow Dash laughed, or so tried to laugh since people normally don’t laugh at something that isn’t funny, more or less. “Huh, that does make me feel a bit better.” “Remember, there isn’t anything to be scared of and if there is anything that poses any threat to you I would make sure that they would have to get through Gage and I before they get to you.” “Thanks, that makes me feel a lot better.” And at that, Rainbow Dash gave Elias a hug that of which Elias returned. At that moment Gage came into the room. “Aw,” Gage sarcastically said. Elias looked at Gage and rolled his eyes. Gage changed into his pajamas as Elias climbed up to his bed and fell asleep. *The Next Day* Gage opened his eyes. “What the heck IS Elias doing?” Gage thought. He leaned up and got out of his bed. Rainbow Dash was still snoozing away but Elias was out of bed as usual, him being an early bird. Gage walked into the hallway and down into the kitchen where Elias was eating a breakfast of Cheerileeos (yet again another lawl). “So, have you been working on that frame you have down there?” Gage asked. “Not yet. Today I’m going to need to get some way of conducting electricity onto the circle part of the frame,” Elias responded. “Ah, I think my mom’s boyfriend has exactly what you need. Be right back.” Gage’s parents also had a divorce but that was a long time ago. His mom has a boyfriend, Mike, that she has been dating for a while and Elias got along with him very well. After a couple minutes Gage came out of his mom’s bedroom followed by Mike. Gage took a seat but Mike went outside. After a minute or so, Mike came back inside with a circuit breaker with copper wires coming out of it. “Gage, remember to be very careful with that,” Mike said. “Ok, Mike,” Gage said. “Awesome, this is just what I was looking for,” Elias said. Gage took the breaker and went downstairs followed by Elias. Once they were downstairs, Gage set down the breaker, grabbed the copper wires, and stretched them across to the frame. “Just come and get me when you want the wires connected,” Gage said and at that, he went back upstairs. Elias walked over to where he left the Azulryllium downstairs and picked it up. Next, Elias had to setup the portal. He walked over to the frame and uncorked the bottle. Elias poured out the liquid, which pours out rather slowly due to the Fraunhofer lines that hold the liquid in its place. Once a good amount was in his hands, he started to fill up the inside of the circle with the material. Now normally, if you tried to stack up a liquid, it would end up falling down but due to the Fraunhofer lines that existed within the spectrum, it prevented the liquid from going anywhere, it just stood in place. Elias continued his work on filling up the circle with the blue spectrum. *** Rainbow Dash opened her eyes. She awoke from a dream of what it would be like once in Equestria. She went out into the kitchen and reached for an apple on the counter with here hoofs. Gage’s sister, Lyric, walked out into the kitchen to eat her breakfast but she noticed the pony struggling to get her breakfast. “Oh, you need some help, Rainbow Dash?” Lyric said as she walked towards the counter and gave Rainbow Dash the apple. “Thanks,” Rainbow Dash said and held the apple with her mouth. Rainbow Dash sat down at the table and ate her breakfast. Once she was done, she went to go check on Elias. She looked around the house until she decided that he might be downstairs. She walked down the stairs and saw Elias halfway done with filling the circle with a thin sheet of blue spectrum. “Hey, how’s it going,” Rainbow Dash asked. “Almost done,” Elias responded. “Awesome. Well, I’m going to go outside and work on some flying.” “Ok, have fun, be safe, and make sure you stay below the tree line so the neighbors don’t see you,” Elias said. Rainbow Dash gave a nod, she understood that humans would be absolutely bewildered if they were to see a pegasus flying through the sky. She went up the stairs and outside into the backyard. Rainbow Dash was excited to get back into the air. She started to run across the field and once she felt that she had good speed and momentum, she leapt into the air and flapped her wings fast. She was about five feet in the air and slowly started gaining altitude. Soon, she was at seven feet and at that point she leveled out and flew straight. Rainbow Dash loved the feeling of the wind going through her rainbow mane and tail. She wanted to go faster. She increased the power of her flapping wings and she gained speed. “So awesome,” Rainbow Dash thought as she flew through the air. She started to reduce the power of her flapping wings bit by bit and she started to decrease her altitude until she touched the ground. Rainbow Dash repeated this process for a while until her adrenaline need was satisfied. *** Elias poured the last of the Azulryllium into his hands. “This should finish off the rest,” Elias thought as he started to put the Azulryllium onto the rest of the inside of the circle. Soon, the entire circle was filled with a thin layer of Azulryllium. “Aw finally,” Elias said. *** Gage walked next down the hallway, but when he passed the staircase, he heard Elias. “Aw finally,” Elias said as Gage passed. Gage took this as a sign that Elias was done setting up the portal. *** Rainbow Dash landed on the ground and started to walk towards the house. She went into her bedroom (which, again, is also where Gage and Elias sleep) and drank some water out of a water bottle of hers, which she managed to open, although, with some struggle. When she went out into the hall she caught a glimpse of Gage walking down into the basement. She decided to both check on Elias and see what Gage was doing. When she reached the bottom of the stairs, she heard Elias and Gage talking. “Eli, what exactly are you doing?” Gage asked. “I am making a portal to Equestria,” Elias responded, restraining a bit because he wasn’t sure how ridiculous this would sound to Gage. Gage stared at Elias. “Ok,” Gage said walking over to the circuit breaker “You ready?” “Yeah,” Elias said. At that moment, Rainbow Dash emerged from the shadows “Hey, Rainbow Dash.” “So, you got it done,” Rainbow Dash said “Good job, Eli. You’re the greatest scientist I know.” “Thanks,” “So, what is going to happen with you and Gage? Is he going to come with us?” “I don’t know. What do you say Gage?” “Well, I could always visit, I mean, there has to be a portal on the other side, right?” Gage asked. “There could be. If there is I’ll come back through the portal,” Elias replied. “Ok,” “Rainbow Dash, prepare to be back in Equestria,” Elias said. Gage moved towards the breaker. Gage flicked the switch on. All of a sudden, the light filled with white light that soon started to fade away. Once the lighting of the room was back to normal, Elias examined the portal, it was now different. The blue spectrum turned to a chalky, pastel blue color with a slight white aura coming off it. “Well, I hope this works,” Elias said “Together, in 3, 2, 1,” and at that, Elias and Rainbow Dash walked towards the portal and stepped in. *** Gage waited in the basement, hoping and awaiting the arrival of his friend. About a minute passed until… Elias came back through the portal. “You can visit any time you wish,” is all Elias said and he stepped back in…
Chapter One: A Theory Unveiled**Important Note** Before you go reading this chapter, make sure you read the prequel Elias's Source of Resilience to Life: Ponies.
“I’m going to have to set up the translocation network’s portal.”…
Chapter Five: Activating the NetworkPart Five Activating the Network Elias walked downstairs, bottle of Azulryllium in his hand.
