The Ballad of the Angel
Encouragement
Previous ChapterBrigands came, full of magic,
To unite rythym with harmony,
But after that day, we never again saw,
The Angel of Melody.
The stage was lighting up with a black, illuminating light, as the crowd was cheering and taking photographs. I was on a stage lift, while my band mates were ready, while I was tuning my guitar. Then, when we were ready, we rock.
WRONG! Sorry, but I wished that would happen. Me, Ice, Light and Aura were playing Guitar Hero at Applejack's house, because Rainbow Dash wouldn't let us play her Playstation 3. (I don't know why, but I think it has something to do with that Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Mix game she wanted to buy.) Apple Bloom had to do her homework, but I let her get a couple gos, as long as AJ doesn't know about it. Big Mac came in and tapped me on the shoulder.
"Let me guess," I asked. "Applejack wants me?"
"Eeyup." I paused the game and handed the guitar to Big Mac. I walked into the kitchen and Applejack was cross-armed and she was giving me a glare.
"What?" I asked. "Is that because I let Apple Bloom play?"
"Well, I already knew that," Applejack honestly said. "I heard y'all are challengin' Sunset Shimmer in the Battle of the Bands."
"Yeah."
"Why do ya keep challengin' people, Matt? Remember what happened months ago?"
"I know, she tried to kill me with a gas can, but I came out okay, and that's all that matters!" I guess I said the wrong thing, because Applejack looked more concerned. "Why did ya challenge her?"
I sighed. "Because I stood up for Vinyl." I was expecting a yell or a scream, but I saw AJ put her hand on her chest.
"Ya did?"
"Yeah, she lost her parents, and thanks to Sunset Shimmer, she lost her music. I'm entering the Battle of the Bands and if I win, Shimmer's buying Vinyl headphones."
"But what about if y'all lose?" I took my wand out of my pocket, and I made a snapping noise with my mouth. Applejack then, let out an audible gasp.
"I know. Why am I so stupid?!" I shouted, but AJ managed to calm me down.
"It's not yer fault. Now, get practicin' and show Shimmer who's boss!" I nodded and hugged AJ and headed back to the living room, where Big Mac threw something at me. It was a CD, but luckily, I caught it. The permanent marker etching said,
The Ballad of the Angel
"Thanks, Mac." I was puzzled, as I stared on at the disc. "Is this involved with that missing trophy?"
"Eeyup." was all he said. I placed the CD in an abandoned case and I left the Farm and headed for Light's house.
A ring of keys, count eighty-eight,
Open rooms, never seen,
Ancient symbols beyond the gate,
to the Angel of Melody.
I was staring curiously at the disc. Why would Big Mac give me this CD? Isn't that a bit strange, isn't it? But the Battle of the Bands was only a day away, and playing Guitar Hero did not help, practice.
NO POV
Sunset Shimmer was practicing the guitar at her own house and she was getting off to a bad start. She had Mathew Swift on her mind, but in an evil sort of way. She had to practice, or she won't have the chance to humiliate Matt for life. She dialed her I-Phone to Snips.
"Snips, reporting for duty." Snips saluted on the other line.
"I have a job for you and Snails." Shimmer smiled and demanded. "I want you to follow Swift and his cronies. Report to me when you found some information." She hung up and continued to practice.
