I'm just gonna lose myself
Now if one were to be walking through Canterlot Castle's halls at this very moment, they would come across a group of strange ponies. From afar, it looked like not a single one of these ponies had a thing in common; but each one was connected to each other in some way.
One was a tall beauty, with rich purple hair and ivory skin. She was dressed in what could only be described as a fine blue silk dress with a few diamonds sewn into the bottom to help with the dazzle of the dress. In the center of her forehead sat a white horn spiraling out and ending in a fine point.
Another looked like a pure tomboy, with cyan blue skin and rainbow colored hair, she was dressed with a white tank top, black sports shorts, and a pair of flight goggles. On her back rested a pair of toned wings which were currently in use, holding the girl off the ground.
The third was a rather bubble pink skinned girl with cotton candy like pink hair. Everything about her seemed bubbly and with the yellow t-shirt and blue skirt, she seemed like the energetic kind of girl.
Up next was a rather western looking girl with orange skin and straight blond hair tied into a ponytail. She was dressed in western ware, complete with a pair of cowboy boots.
Fifth was a rather timid looking girl with cream colored skin and pink hair pink hair; however rather than the cotton candy like style her friend was sporting, hers was straighter and framed her face. On her back rested a pair of wings, but compared to her friend, they were less toned and currently not in use.
Lastly, but surly not the least was Equestria's newest princess. She had light purple skin and dark blue hair mixed with a streak of pink. She was dressed in a rather uniform style of clothing, which contained a blouse, a plad skirt, and a blue sweater vest. On her head sat a horn, but at the same time on her back rested a pair of wings.
Together they were Equestria's greatest heroes, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Applejack, Fluttershy, and finally Twilight Sparkle. They'd all saved the country several times and had spread harmony across Equestria's boarders several times.
Currently the laughter of Equestria's most famous heroes sounded out as they walked through the halls of Canterlot Castle. After a full day of fun and exploring Canterlot, they had returned to the castle to catch a few bits of sleep before heading back to Ponyville tomorrow.
Usually the group was too busy with saving the way to truly appreciate the beauty Canterlot held, and thanks to Equestria's newest princess being invited up for a 'weekend retreat' by Celestia, the group jumped at the chance to have some fun in the capital.
"...And that was the last time I saw him!" came the voice of Rarity as she finished explaining one of her earlier romances with an canterlot pony.
"Wow Rarity, never would 'ave taken you for dating someone like that..." Came Applejack's southern drawl. Rarity had just finished explaining one of her earlier romances for when she was in canterlot alone a few months ago. Apparently she dated someone who seemed to be her exact opposite, a real piece of trash if you were to compare him to Rarity's usual standards.
"Yeah, better keep Spike from hearing about this, I'd hate for him to hear how 'his rarity' went out with someone like that." Twilight's sentence got a few giggles from the group as they thought about Spikes 'not so secret crush'.
"Speaking of which, how is the little guy?" Rainbow Dash asked the newest princess.
Instantly the tone took a bit of a turn as Twilight gave out a little sigh. "Not so good, I still think he's a bit shaken up about Shining getting hit by an arrow."
Word reached the group that a couple of days ago, Shining Armor had been shot by a rogue arrow while he and Spike had been walking the streets. While none of the girls had seen it, Spike had been there to see the arrow hit Shining right in his foreleg. The next morning, Twilight had been shocked to see just how torn up Spike was; according to her, he almost looked like he'd been beaten up, but that was impossible.
Now that Shining was out of the hospital, he'd promised to take Spike out and help work him through his problems. They should be back soon but as long as Spike was in Shining's hands, she was sure that he would be safe.
"But hopefully after tonight he should be better, Shining said that he'd show him around canterlot and talk to him." With Twilight's reassurance, the group continued to walk through the castle, believing that Spike was safe and getting some help from Shining Armor.
Little did they realize exactly what Spike was involved with at that moment.
Meanwhile; in Canterlot district 313
Shouts and cheers rang out from the underground basement of an abandoned building as two titans prepared to give everything they had for the ponies watching.
District 313 is what many would call a slum; it had old, shabby looking houses, bad streets, and a bad crime rate. This was probably the darkest area of Canterlot, but in it resided a large chunk of the population.
Now when so many individuals are put together and living in such bad conditions, conflicts are sure to break out. Rather than settle it with violence, a DJ by the name of Vinyl Scratch set up a conflict resolution device known as 'The Pit'.
Every night when she wasn't working, Vinyl would set up shot in an abandoned building and call together everyone to settle their arguments through what was later defined as a rap battle. Now for years this worked until it began to take a life of its own. Rather than a conflict resolver, it began to become something of a conflict starter.
When you won a battle, you had respect and admiration from the people, and with that came power. The better rapper you were, the more 'street cred' you had and thus the better you lived.
In district 313, nopony lived better than 'The Leaders of The Free World', some of the hardest and fastest rappers in the district. Vinyl tried to fix things but... let's just say that she was a victim rather than a leader now. The Free World controlled everything and were bullies to the people living in the district, so when a young dragon showed up looking for adventure, they didn't treat him too kindly.
Forcing him into a battle, a griffon named Wink blasted him, crushing his self esteem and labeling him a bum, to add insult to injury, they gave the young dragon the name 'B-Rabbit' to show just how weak he was.
When Shining Armor found him, he'd been crying in the streets, dealing depressed and torn over the griffon's words. Shining tried to help get his confidence back, but the Free World crew looked to go out of their way to torture the poor dragon. They pushed him in the streets, insulted him behind the mane 6's backs, and even went so far as to jump him while he was out with Shining Armor.
Thing's could have been worse had Shining not pulled out a crossbow, but unfortunately the string had been weak, causing the bolt to misfire and shoot him in the right foreleg.
Spike, at his lowest just waited for the vacation to end in his room, sleeping all day and staying as far as he could from the district. But everything changed when he walked into the canterlot castle library. Finding a special book, he knew just what he had to do. Thus once Shining Armor was released from the hospital, he had formulated his plan for revenge.
Walking alone in the district, he formally challenged the Free World's leader to a battle in front of everyone. 1 round, one night, and half a minute. If he won, the battles end and the group disbands. If the Free World won, then Spike would be their slave.
Believing that he would win, Papa Doc, the groups leader accepted, believing that his victory was assured.
Tis brings us to out current situation, with Spike and Papa Doc facing each other with their faces just inches apart. Spike was dressed in a white sweatshirt with a bulging pocket while Papa Doc had on a pricey red jacket on his person. Each wore a look of stone, their concentration unbreakable.
Slowly, Vinyl Scratch walked up to the pair and turned to Papa Doc. "Since you're the champion, what do you wanna do? Heads or Tails?"
"Heads..." The stallions voice was deep, matching his black coat and sharp horn. Papa Doc was a terrifying stallion to look at, and since he had most of the power, nobody ever opposed him.
Vinyl nodded and with a bit of magic, she flipped the bit into the air. As it fell onto the ground, she turned back to Papa Doc whens he saw that it had landed on heads. "Alright... so who do you want to go first?"
Levitating the microphone to the stallion, Papa Doc glared at the dragon as his magic aura grasped the instrument. "Let that bitchgo first..."
Eyes widening behind her purple shades, Vinyl nervously laughed as she faced the crowd, grasping the mic back from Papa Doc. "Aright then, lot of hostility up here..." Loosing her nervousness, she seemed to get back into the swing of things as she got her confidence back. "Alight alright alright, check this out! We've got new rules for this! Being as the stakes for this are so high... each of these cats... they get a minute and a half a piece!"
Cheers rang out from the crowd as they heard the news of the extended performances from the two. However if the two battlers heard anything, they didn't show it as they continued to glare at one another.
"I don't know what's gonna happen! B-Rabbit, you know what to do!" Handing the mic to the dragon, Vinyl winked to the young dragon before walking up to her turntables. "Alright, let's spin this shit!"
A beat began to sound out through the basement as Spike gripped the mic.
Cries of 'what what what' rang out as the two rappers glared at one another, as if an invisible battle of will was taking place. Finally Spike seemed to smirk before turning to the crowd and letting out everything he had.
Now everybody from the 3-1-3

Around the basement, the ponies gathered began to throw their hooves up into the air with the beat of the song.

Turning back to Papa Doc, he began to lay it into the unicorn as Shining Armor arrived on scene to get Spke out if he needed it. Thankfully, it looked like the young dragon had finally gotten his mind together.
Now while he stands tough

Shining and Vinyl seemed to nervously shrink a bit as Spike brought up their personal lives. However Spike seemed lost in the beat as he began to viciously tear into Papa Doc who still stood there with a look of indifference on his face while his comrades had a look of anger on theirs. However that would change for Papa Doc as Spike began his next few lines.
Don't never try to judge me, dude
You don't know what the fuck I've been through
At this he began to smile a cocky smile as he pulled out a large book from his pocket. At the sight of said book, Papa Doc lost his focus and began to get a panicked look on his face.
But I know something about you
You went to Cranbrook, that's a private school

This guy's a gangster? His real name is Clairvoyance

At the last line, the crowd belted it out with the dragon rapper, their image of Papa Doc broken as they realized just what he was. A rich kid who just wanted to act tough. He was nothing to them now that they knew and no battle should change that.

As the time ran up and Vinyl cut off the music, Spike didn't seem to care at all. He was on a roll, all his anger and frustration exploding out of him as he turned to Vinyl to wave her off.

Almost panting, his anger spent and exhaustion coming in, Spike tiredly turned back to Papa Doc, enjoying the horrified look on his face.
Fuck this battle I don't want to win, I'm outie

Tossing the mic to Papa Doc, Spike walked over to the speakers and sat down, glaring at Papa Doc as the unicorn looked almost... lost?
Vinyl, almost walking on cloud nine from seeing Papa Doc's face, confidently walked over to the black unicorn. "Whoa! What are you gonna do?!" Speaking into an extra mic, everyone could hear her over the speakers as she called to order the second battle.
Walking back to her station, she began to hit the music. "Alright Papa Doc, let's see some shit!" Spike continued to glare at the unicorn as everyone awaited the champ to speak, but as the music dragged on, realization came to Spike.
Pap Doc had choked!
After a solid minute of silence coming from the stallion, Papa Doc finally waved off Vinyl and with that the battle was over.
Cheers erupted from the crowd as Papa Doc and his group quickly made their way out of the building. As Spike too made his way out, he almost seemed to be ignorant of everything, his mind elsewhere.
He'd won and for the first time he felt free...
As he made his way out of the building, Shining Armor and Vinyl scratch joined him in his walk back to the castle, silently congratulating the champ over his victory.
