//-------------------------------------------------------// Cybernetics -by BAR0SS- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// A bad dream and a new beginning //-------------------------------------------------------// A bad dream and a new beginning RED BLOOD DEATH The sight of his platoon, motionless, the light of the fire reflecting of the once gold armour that all seemed to be stained red with the blood of their former owners. He rolled his head to the side and saw the shadow of a hooded figure as a surge of pain shot through him as if his skin and fur was slowly being ripped off of him from a cylinder of dry ice being rolled over his stomach. He looked down to the pained area and saw that he just had a talon of a gryphon sink it's claws into his stomach and was slowly squeezing its grip tighter. His gaze followed the length of the foreign limb and saw that it was attached to the hooded figure. “AHHHHHHHHH! For the love of Celestia, stop! Make it stop! PLEASE!” he pleaded with all his will. The hooded figure laughed and then relinquished its grip of his stomach leaving four large holes in the place of where the claws entered his body, blood flowing freely. He started to close his eyes as he was rolled over and grabbed by the back of the neck and lifted up and a deep voice shook him back to consciousness. “Don't fall asleep now. We wouldn't want you to miss what we are going to do to your little sister over there.” His eyes shot open and looked around franticly until he noticed her. being held by another gryphon, whimpering. “We are going to have so much fun together you and I. oh and her and my follower over there too.” the hooded gryphon laughed and clicked his talons. His follower placed its catch on the ground, holding her down with one talon, and grasped the base of her wing with the other. She started screaming in pain and the follower gryphon started pulling her wing of ever so slowly. “No, stop. Do whatever you want with me but let Aurora go. Pleas don't do this” he begged. A pop noise was herd as he wing was dislocated. But the follower kept pulling. “No! Please! I will do anything” Aurora yelled but the follower just kept pulling until… *SNAP* *SNAP* *SNAP* Aurora's wing was broken repeatedly just before seperating entirely as she just screamed as loud as she could hoping the pain would go away. “No… NO NO NO NO NO! NNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO---” “---OOOOOOOOO” Silver yelled as loud as his lungs would allow. A red aura formed around his metallic horn and then around his entire body as he was still having his terrible nightmare. Aurora burst through the door, shattering it, and landing beside her brother trying to wake him from this chronic nightmare. After a while, Silver stoped thrashing and yelling and his aura died down before his cybernetic golden eyes slowly opened, irises acting like shutters to block out the excess light coming in his door, just to see his sister looking at his with a concerned look adorned her face. “I didn't break anything did I?” he asked, his voice sounding robotic but still with emotion, looking to see if he did. He frowned when he noticed pieces of wood all around his room, and then looked back to Aurora to see that she was looking at him. “What?” “Seriously, that's all you have to say after that little performance?” She scolded and sat on his bed. He looked down with a saddened look then back into her eyes. “I-I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scary you like I did.” He apologized. He then looked to Aurora's side at where her robotic wing was attached and shuddered. Aurora saw this and instantly knew what his dream was about. She then wrapped her hooves around his cold cybernetic exoskeleton and hugged him as tight as she could. “I told you. It wasn't your fault what happened. You know as well as I do that we were set up.” “I know Aurora, I know. But I just can't help but realize that it was me who accepted the job. And if I didn't, you would still have your wing and I would still be… well, me. But normal and would be able to fit in again.” He said looking away. “Is that what this is about? What happened?” she asked. “Well I was in town looking to buy you a cake for your birthday in three days. But after I gave the order on paper, the mare at the counter noticed my eyes under my cloak and screamed then ran calling me a monster. Seriously, just because of my eyes. Can you believe that?” Aurora sighed. “Well, what if I retire from the royal guard and we moved out of Canterlot to a more accepting town?” Silver pushed her out of the hug and held her by her shoulders. “What! No. you love working in the royal guard. I don't want you giving up your dream job just for me.” “Yes I know but I care for your well being more than I care for my job and seeing as how this place is getting to you mentally, I would be more than happy to.” She smiled and hugged him as he let her go. Silver sighed and lightly hugged her back being fully aware of the damage he could do to her. “Are you sure this is what you want?” “Yes” was all he got back, a short but ever so firm response. A small smile crept its way on his muzzle and soon Aurora was snoring. Silver picked up his sister in a silver aura and levitated her back to her own room, a quiet but noticeable whirring noise with each step, and tucked her into her own bed. He then turned and left shutting the door upon his exit. Silver then walked into the kitchen and levitated a small box out of a cabinet and pulled out a vial full of dimly glowing blue liquid. He then attached the vial to a special injector gun and floated up to his neck. He then injected the serum and put the injector back away with be box of serum and ticked off a schedule in a book saying he had taken this season's injection. He did not need to take another of three months. He then looked himself over to check if had damaged any part of himself. After all, the only parts of him that was still… him were his brain, his heart and his… uh… yeah moving on. All three organs modified to survive with the serum that his cybernetic body uses as blood. Silver then walked back to his own room and magically repaired the door that Aurora detonated and placed it back onto its hinges. He then proceeded to climb into his own bed and soon he was fast asleep. The next morning… BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP Click Silvers hoof slid off the bed side table after he had turned off his alarm clock. Groaning, Silver got up out of his bed and made his way over to his desk and looked at his synthetic hide. Silver had this hide created for him so he could integrate back into society easier than he would without it. With it on he looked like a normal pony, just with strange eyes that looked somewhat normal until you looked into his eyes closely. That is why he always had a cloak over his synthetic skin with a hood that he always had over his head outside. Silver also never talked to anypony but his sister. He found out the hard way that his voice alone could cause panic in the streets so he just never spoke. When out side, he always had a notebook and pencil with him to write responses if somepony asked him something. That or Aurora would be with him and she would always do the talking. Sighing, Silver began stretching the synthetic hide over his exoskeleton and pulled his black main and tail through the tight slits in the hide. His mane and tail were attached to his exoskeleton and were made of replicated hair fibre, meaning it wasn't real so it would never grow. And after about two minutes of re-adjusting, he finally got the hide set into position and looked into his mirror. He looked like he did before all of this happened. His silver coat glistened in the sunlight that was seeping in his window. His mane and tail both just looked like he had shaken dry. He then put on his black cloak. Without pulling the hood over his head, he began making his way into the kitchen and opened the fridge. He pulled out a paste like substance that some scientists said he needed to consume at least three times a day to keep his remaining natural body parts good and healthy. Aurora always said it tasted like foal food, but he wouldn't know. His synthetic tong has no taste buds so he can't taste anything. After consuming the paste, he threw the container in the bin and made his way to Aurora's room to see if she had woken up to go to her shift at the royal palace. Aurora was one of three drill sergeant's for the royal guard. Her job was to train the recruits in combat and have them battle ready, and she did exceptionally well at it. She was promoted to drill sergeant after the changeling attack on Canterlot because she defended other royal guards while freeing them from changelings and began a resistance only to have had the captain and his wife beat them before the guard could begin their counter assault. Silver was out of town that day, visiting a doctor in Manehattan to get some upgrades to his carbon fibre exoskeleton to make it stronger and more durable. He pulled his hood over his head and walked to the front door, only to walk into Aurora upon exit. “Ow! Oh hey Silver, guess what. We are moving out.” Aurora said enthusiastically hovering up-side-down. “Can ya guess where we are moving to?” Silver just tilted his head to the side while shrugging his shoulders. “I told captain Shining Armour that I was retiring for you and that we wanted to move to a friendlier environment. And he recommended we move to Ponyville and that he would send a letter to the town mayor that we were coming and to find us a home to live in.” Aurora said then zipped inside. Silver followed her in. “Ok then so when do we leave?” he was a bit disappointed that Aurora had just given up her dream job just for him but he knew it would be useless to argue. Aurora smiled at him. “Well I have already sold this house so we have until this afternoon to leave. So pack your things because I have a cart outside and we haul our stuff all the way there. Don't worry, it's actually not that far from Canterlot so will arrive there about tomorrow.” “Wow, you've planed all of this out already and it's only what, 10:00 A.M. how have you done all of this already. You have only been awake for like two hours?” Silver asked. “Come on. Just cuz I have a cybernetic wing. Doesn't mean I don't stop being fast. I am Wonderbolts qualified remember” Aurora boasted “Yeah sure, I still don't see why you didn't join them. That would have been a great life for you. You could have had anything you ever wanted.” Silver said Aurora stoped packing her bags and looked to Silver. “Hey now, I do have everything I want. Great skill as a flyer like any Pegasus could ever want and a great brother who is always be there if I need him.” Silver smiled and turned to go back to his own room to pack. As he was walking in the living room and turned his head to see a large glass box. Inside said box was two sets of badly damaged royal guard armour. Silver walked up to the display stand and levitated the sets of armour out of the display case and into some custom boxes designed to carry them. Putting the boxes near the door, he then moved into his room to start packing his own stuff. Six hours later Silver just threw out another container that was full of that paste that he had to eat. He then began to hook himself up to the cart that has all of their belongings in it. They weren't taking any furniture with them so it was going to not be that hard to pull the cart. Besides, Silvers cybernetic legs didn't tire so he was able to pull the cart non stop without tiring physically. “Are you sure you don't want me to help you pull the cart to Ponyville? It's going to be a long walk.” Aurora asked. Silver looked around to see if anypony was near before speaking and thankfully, Nopony was. “Yeah I'll be fine. Plus I need you to get your rest so you can deal with the locals and we are already a third of the way there. And if I stop to eat my third daily meal, we should arrive around four a clock tomorrow morning depending on travel conditions.” He said finishing strapping himself to the harness. He than began pulling again at a walking pace. Aurora flew up and landed on top of the cart.” Ok if you sure then. I'm just gona go for a fly to ware myself out.” With that said she shot up into the sky doing all kind of stunts and tricks. Around five hours later “Well its 9:13P.M. And I'ma have my dinner. You want your Silver?” Aurora asked whilst sifting through the cart looking for the food. “Yeah I guess I should eh?” Silver responded and took the harness off and climbed up onto the cart with his sister. Aurora passed him his paste and he downed it quite quickly. “So, what are you going to do when we get to this Ponyville?” “I don't really know. I guess I should try and find a job so we can support ourselves. Our money won't last forever so we will need an income.” Aurora said while throwing and apple core away. “H-Hey! If this town accepts me than I might be able to get a job too” Silver exclaimed happily. He was sick and tired of being a lazy hermit simply because he was different. Aurora looked at him and smiled. He might actually get to open up to somepony else apart from herself. Ever since the accident, Silver had never interacted with others properly because when he tried, they simply wrote him off just because he was different. Aurora yawned. “Well, its dark and I'm tired. I'm going to go to sleep. Wake me up as we get to town alright.” “Ok night then. I'll see you tomorrow.” Silver said climbing back down the cart and re-harnessing himself to the cart. He began to start walking again in silence apart from the sounds of nature, the quiet whirring coming from himself and the snoring of his younger sister, smiling to himself as he did. Author's Note Well i would say that was fun but it left me with sore thumbs and probably arthritis. Critisism is welcome and I am aware of all the times I forgot to put a capitol letter at the beginning of a sentence.
