For the changeling known as Scape, life is a confusing mess. Being formerly an ordinary pony, he isn't much good at being a changeling. He isn't much good at being a pony either, for that matter: he can hardly remember anything of his former life, particularly what he was doing in the middle of a changeling hive in the first place.

He'll have to learn fast. The hive he apparently joined isn't in the best of situations. Something has emerged from the deep tunnels, hunting them, destroying their food supply and leaving only a small, ever-dwindling number remaining...

And they may not even be the only hive- or city- affected.
