//-------------------------------------------------------// Solaris's story -by Nakomiwolf- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter one //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter one Today was the day! the young navy blue Pegasus filly told herself, excitement and nervousness eating away at her belly. She looked through her saddle bag, double checking that she had all that she would need, and as much as she would. Today I will show everyone that I'm an excellent flyer, even the princesses will know! "Solaris! Are you ready yet? We're going to be late!" A pale pink mare with a purple mane called at the bottom of the stairs as Solaris tumbled down, using her wings so she didn't trip as excitement guided her hooves. "Ready ma." She gave her mother a toothy grin. Her black mane was done up with the ends spiked and her short tail brushed till it gleamed like the moon. The pink mare-snow flower- rolled her eyes and nuzzled her daughter, "then lets go!"     Within moment they were pushing through the crowd of Pegasus ponies so Solaris could stand in line with her fellow class mates and teacher, Golden cloud. Golden cloud rolled her eyes cheerfully as the dark blue filly moved up to stand beside her. "Could you have been slower?" She teased. Solaris stuck out her tongue and Golden gave a look of mock annoyance. "You're the last to fly, make it count." She told the eager filly as she started to move to stay in front of the princesses. A white colt moved to stand beside Solaris. "What took you so long?" He hissed in her ear as Golden Cloud began to speak, "...these young flyers are the best of their age group, I do hope you enjoy their performances they all put together on their own..." Solaris didn't take her eyes off their teacher as she replied, "wanted to look nice and I needed to finish my stars, I promised I wouldn't miss you Winter, and I didn't." Se flicked the colt with her tail. Winter chuckled, "fillies." "First up is Winter Winds." golden Cloud spoke slightly louder to grab his attention. "That's my que!" And with that the white Pegasus was off and doing his routine. How can I compete with him? Solaris thought dryly. Winter's routine was complex at best., she only hoped she could compete with the handsome colt. Luna watched each routine with little interest and tried not to yawn, for when she did Tia shot her a warning glance, these were foals after all, they worked hard to set this up. But she should be sleeping, not watching foals fly. But one filly caught her eye at the very end of the line, a midnight blue one, almost black as night, with her purple hair and pale blue eyes she almost reminded Luna of a certain pony. The resemblance almost frightened her. Almost. Solaris looked up to catch Princess Luna's watchful gaze on her, she shook beneath her fur in nervousness. Princess Twilight Sparkle was focused on the blue filly as she descended and stood back in her place. Next was the colt before Solaris, and when he took off she got even more nervous. What seemed like years was actually minutes that passed and then it was her turn. Her wings felt stiff as boards when Golden Cloud called her name for her to fly. "Here go nothing..." She murmured and leapt off the side of the cloud where they stood and plummeted to the ground below, she heard ponies shocked intakes of breath when she flew back up and started doing circular motions around a large white cloud, dropping golden stars laced with unicorn magic to stay hovering where she dropped them around the cloud. Solaris dove into the cloud and laced the inside in more stars. Finally she was finished and in her wake was a cloud that resembled the planet Saturn so much that the crowd of ponies stood slack-jawed in awe. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter two //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter two Did I do something wrong...? Solaris looked around at the ponies as she landed back with her class mates, self consciously walking toward Golden Cloud, anxiety consuming her. "Was I that bad?" She asked, mere seconds from tears. Golden Cloud shook her head and composed herself, "no not at all Hun why...I haven't seen something like that since I was a filly. That was--" "wonderful!" The teacher was cut off by a booming voice. Princess Luna descended from where her and the other princesses sat and trotted right up to the scared filly. "That was a wonderful performance, thank you for letting us see thy talent." The princess bowed to the filly. The *princess** is bowing to me!* Solaris though with absolute shock as she took a step back. "U-um thank you P-Princess L-Luna." She tampered and then scolded herself for sounding so lame when she spoke to the princess. Luna stood up and smiled down at the filly. "How would thou like to become my apprentice?" The crowed, including Solaris gaped at the Princess of the Moon in absolute shock, others in horror (mostly from the colts and fillies who flew) Celestia walked over and stood beside her sister, "I knew you were thinking about taking a pony under your wing but I always assumed a...well...a unicorn?"she was obviously hinting for her sister to reconsider. Luna shot daggers at her sister and folded her wing around the dark blue filly, "I have decided I will take on a Pegasus. After all,  even a Pegasus can have their own magic, can they not? Dear sister?" There was something else hidden beneath her words that made the older sister bow her head did step away. Luna turned her attention back to Solaris, "well little filly? What does thou say?" She asked, her smile hopeful and forced. She opened her mouth and did something that made the Princess of Twilight proud... "Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!" She hopped around the Lunar princess excitedly shouting 'yes' over and over again till she tired. "Guards!" Two bat-pony guards trotted over to the Princesse's side, "yes m'lady?" They asked in sync. "Go and help the mother of the filly pack their things while I show Solar Ring where she will be staying." Solaris stopped in mid bounce and looked at Luna with wide eyes, "I'm going to live in canterlot? Is ma coming too?" She asked. Luna chuckled, "of course silly filly, now come, let us leave." Each Princess said their goodbyes then they left. As Solaris stood beside Luna in the chariot she leaned down and whispered something in her ear, "by the way young filly, thou cutie mark is extraordinary." She praised. Solaris's eyes widened and looked down at her once blank flank where now was a dark black cutie mark with the planet Saturn surrounded by bright blue and gold stars. "....Yes!" She cheered. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter three //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter three Soon they were at the castle and Solar Ring rushed through the doors, the guards chuckling and nodding to the three princesses as they entered after the little excited filly. Celestia and Twilight hung back, watching the pair, a shiver running down Twilight's back as she saw how the filly resembled the infamous Nightmare moon. She looked at her former mentor who she knew saw the same, and no doubt the former Nightmare moon, Luna, saw it too, though surprisingly took on the little filly. "Do you think...?" Celestia shook her head and shot a warning glare at Twilight, "no, its just a coincidence." she grumbled. Luna smiled down at the filly as they raced down the halls, leaving the servants starring at their Princess with wide and surprised eyes, making the pair laugh louder. "Come here Solar Ring, this will be you own personal chamber, and your mother is the room across the hall." Her horn glowed and the door swung open to reveal a large room with a balcony where light blue drapes left shadows dancing across the pale, dark blue walls. A bed of a large, circular mattress resided off to the side of the balcony, covered in several pillows and a large wool blanket. Book shelved covered the walls, as well as art supplies and a desk for the filly to work at. Solaris looked up at her new mentor with wide eyes, "t-this is all for me?" she asked with complete surprise. Luna nodded and pushed the filly inside with a wing, "all yours." Solaris ran across the room and checked out all the stuff, happy little sounds escaping her small body, "am I fit to do what I want to decorate?" she asked with a hopeful tone. Luna chuckled and nodded, "as long as you don't set fire to the shades or anything you and free to do as you please." "Knock knock?" Twilight stood at the door way of Solaris's room where she was met by a sight one would die to see, "some one get me a camera, this is too cute!" she laughed. Luna was sitting behind the filly Solar Ring, braiding her hair and singing softly. Come my little child, listen to my voice in this dark night, my heart so bright, wrapping my wings around you, my child of the night, the time of the fight, will soon come to an end-- Luna looked up with wide eyes, cutting off her song when she heard Twilight's voice, "what does thou want?" she asked, blushing beet red as she was caught red hoofed. "So this is what the Princess of the Night likes to do instead of eating little foals." she chuckled. "Princess Celestia wants you Luna." she smiled, "I'll take care of your student." Luna bent down and whispered something in the filly's ear, which left her giggling as Luna left, but not without a normal glare at the Princess of  Twilight. "Yes sister Tia?" she asked, stepping into the throne room where her sister was sitting on her throne writing something on a piece of parchment. Celestia looked up and dismissed her guards, "Lulu, I'm very concerned about that pony you've taken under your wing, though I do love to see you smile and laugh, she seems....off." This put Luna off and she suddenly adopted a defensive posture toward her sister, "is it because of how she looks?" she growled, her eyes seeming to glow cyan as well as her mane become a swirl of stars. "Well that and the fact that she is a Pegasus." "I was a Pegasus too? In case you've forgotten sister."    Luna stormed out of the throne room, slamming the door with her magic and then storming up to her student so they could start their lessons. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter four //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter four "Oh mother its so beautiful here!" Solaris said as she danced around her mother as she unpacked. Snow flower rolled her eyes  and nuzzles her child, "and I'm so very proud of you, not many have heard of the Princess taking a student on." she praised. "Now Solar Ring, I know you're just down the hall but do you want to stay with me on your first night?" she asked, biting her lower lip in anxiety of staying in a new place without her foal near her. Solaris rolled her eyes and nuzzled her mother, "I'll be fine ma, don't worry." she smiled at her mother, fluttering her wings and sitting on her mother's back as she used to do when she was younger. Snow flower kissed her daughter's head and ran her wing down her mane, "My little girl, growing up so fast, and right before my eyes." she gave a sad smile though pride showing in her eyes. "Maaaa," Solaris whined and moved away from her mother's embrace, "I'm still your little filly." "I know I know, now go get some sleep, you have a big day tomorrow." she smiled, walking Solaris to her room. Dark blue hooves clapped against the marble flooring of the castle hall way as Luna galloped down the hall and into her bed chambers, where she lifted an image from her desk and threw it against the wall with her magic in rage. The rage that had clouded her vision cleared and she lifted the shattered image of her sister and her as foals and put the pieces back together. "Damnit Tia..." she growled, closing her eyes and calming herself down with deep, slow breaths. One must control her temper...or risk the fallout... she reminded herself of the first lesson their mentor, Constellation keeper, had taught them when then first ascended as Alicorns, a lesson she forgot once before, making Nightmare moon... "Lulu please calm down...we'll work this out together." Celestia pleaded, walking toward her sister hesitantly. Luna's mane swirled in a brilliant purple around her, her eyes glowing turquoise with a envious glare at her sister's sun that shone brilliantly in the sky. "They hate my night! They always have!" She stomped a hoof down, making the floor crack beneath her. "But they *love** your day, sister." She turned her attention to the white Alicorn. Luna flared her wings and charged at her sister. Celestia stood there, frozen in shock at her sister's rage only snapping out of it when Luna's horn made contact with her chest. Luna flung her sister against the wall, making it fall apart at contact, leaving a crumpled heap where it once stood. In the debris lay her sister, blood staining her white fur. "I shall bring eternal night...then we'll see who they love." Luna spoke with a voice not like her own as her dark blue fur slowly started to darken, a purple mist coating the room. With a flash of blue magic, armor covered Luna's body. "L-Lulu..don't do this..." Celestia pleaded, tears in her eyes. "I'm not your sister, she is gone." Luna flew out of her balcony and up into the sky.* The ground crumpled beneath the ponies of Equestria, the sky darkening as cracks filled the sky, making it literally look like it was going to fall upon them. Darkness filled the sky as Luna dragged the sun down into its resting place, the moon taking its place in the sky. "My children! Behold your new queen!" her voice shook the air, filling it with a cold chill. Celestia looked up at her sister from the balcony, closing her eyes with pain. Her horn glowed, stars sparkling around her and breaking up into millions of tiny sparkles. "I'm sorry..sister..." Light filled Equestria from Celestia's magic, bliding everypony. Tears flowed from Luna's eyes as the memory faded from her mind, filling her heart at the horrible things she did, to her sister and to her ponies. "I was such an idiot..." she said bitterly, "but I wont let it happen again." she vowed, determination in her eyes. The door of her room creaked open to reveal the little filly she took under her wing. "Princess Luna, were you crying?" Solaris asked, walking up and nuzzling the Princess'es chest. Luna looked down at the filly who had already warmed up to her. "N-no.." she shook her head, "no...I was, but it is no big deal. Come, let us start your lessons." She said softly and wrapped her wing around the filly, walking away.
