In a happy home, about a mile above the small rural city of Ponyville, a little fiery pony was born. The parents elated, they named their hotly hued pegasus filly Ember Ashes. She was a ruby-pinkish colour with a yellow, orange, red, and black mane, long and wavy. Her older sibling, Frost Gaze wasn't as happy as her parents seeing her younger sister. She was honestly jealous, she was just an Earth Pony, and she felt she was going to be shown up by some pegasus, Frost Gaze always got her way, no matter how long it took.

"Mom! I'm heading to school!" I shouted down the hallway.

"Okay Ember! Just come home if you need something!" my mother said with a smile. I picked up my saddle bag, and headed out the door. I felt the crisp fall air hit my face, the wind had a nip in the air and I can honestly say I loved it. Giving my tiny saddlebags a tug, and I trucked off to the school-house, excited for my first day ever, at school. I was 6 years old, and I have been looking forward to school for as long as I could remember. My mother was a teacher, except she trained pegasus ponies at the local flight camp.

I'd never realized how close I lived to the school, I could already hear the shouts of excited ponies filling the one room. My teacher, Ms. Celosia, was supposed to be the nicest in the entire city. I hadn't met her yet and I couldn't wait to start learning. I reached the school house, and stepped inside, finally being blocked from the cool wind. Their were about 13 other ponies, I looked around the room, and read the piece of paper magnetized to the chalk board. I was supposed to find my desk, put my bag in my cubby with my name on it, and write one thing I'm looking forward to this school year. I quickly found my desk in the middle of the room and set my pencils and paper inside, then put my saddle bag in the lower cubby that belonged to me.

I returned to my desk, I quickly saw a little blue mare standing there. I sat down, "Oh, uh, hi."

The mare stared at me, I began to feel awkward.

"Can I help you with something?" I asked. She shook her head, then sat back at her seat near the front. Man, these ponies were weird...

Finally, the bell rang for me to leave the school, the day was tedious and I couldn't help but feel board. Although learning was really fun. I learned many new ponies names and everypony seemed pretty friendly. I was walking over to my cubby, beginning to pack up my saddle bag when I was approached by a the bright blue pegasus filly now, although this time I knew her name.

"Oh hello Mystique" I say. The pegasus has a slight bounce in her step,

"Hello Ember! Where ya' goin'? Oh ya and please call me Mystie, Mystique sounds to old" She said.

" Okay, and I'm going home." I replied plainly.

"Do you wanna come hang out after school tomorrow? I live at Sugar Cube Corner, with my mom Pinkie Pie! We can make cupcakes and you can meet my mom!" Mystie said excitedly.

"Really? That sounds fun!" I reply smiling, glad to see some pony was interested in friendship.

I began to walk home, Mystie and I parted ways. I couldn't wait to share my adventures today with my mother and father. I began to happily skip home, my saddle bags flopping around my sides. I stepped into my house, smelling a flaky, buttery, mouth-watering smell. I quickly discovered my mother was making apple fritters.

"Oh yummy" I said reaching up to grab a fresh out of the oven pastry.

"No! Not yet! First thing, they're too hot to eat. Second, you haven't eaten dinner yet." My mother said. "So how was school?" She asked putting more fritters in the oven.

"Oh it was so fun! And I made a new friend!" I said beaming. "Oh really who?" She asked. "Mystie, Pinkie Pie's daughter." I say. My mother smiled back at me,

"That's great, glad to see my little angel is making friends" She replied in the happy sing-song voice my mother had. I knew today would be a day I'd always remembered.

I woke up the next morning, my belly rumbling for food, I slid down the wooden banister to the kitchen where my mother had made my favorite, waffles with apple butter and syrup. I eagerly ate down the food, my mouth wanting more, my mother just shook her head. I ran out the door, almost forgetting my saddle bag. I quickly ran back in, grabbed the bag, and continued to school. I hovered quickly across the ground to my school yard, where fillies and colts were playing on the play ground, skipping rope and playing hopscotch. I smiled as I saw Mystie approaching.

"Hi Ember!" She said with the same bounce in her step.

"Hello Mystie!" I said. We chatted for a while after, until the bell rang, then school began.

Ms. Celosia entered the school house, and we all sat their doing our morning work, hoping to not be caught whispering amongst each other. Ms. Celosia was a pink earth pony, with a long dark green mane, her cutiemark a long celosia flower with a sun. She loved her students, realizing they needed to talk. She was hoping for a nice school year, and the weather, she thought it was terrible. She smiled at her students as they began to look up from their morning work, signaling they were done. She stood from her desk,

"Good morning students!"
