//-------------------------------------------------------// My Life in a Nutshell -by Stellar Bat- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1 In a happy home, about a mile above the small rural city of Ponyville, a little fiery pony was born. The parents elated, they named their hotly hued pegasus filly Ember Ashes. She was a ruby-pinkish colour with a yellow, orange, red, and black mane, long and wavy. Her older sibling, Frost Gaze wasn't as happy as her parents seeing her younger sister. She was honestly jealous, she was just an Earth Pony, and she felt she was going to be shown up by some pegasus, Frost Gaze always got her way, no matter how long it took. "Mom! I'm heading to school!" I shouted down the hallway. "Okay Ember! Just come home if you need something!" my mother said with a smile. I picked up my saddle bag, and headed out the door. I felt the crisp fall air hit my face, the wind had a nip in the air and I can honestly say I loved it. Giving my tiny saddlebags a tug, and I trucked off to the school-house, excited for my first day ever, at school. I was 6 years old, and I have been looking forward to school for as long as I could remember. My mother was a teacher, except she trained pegasus ponies at the local flight camp. I'd never realized how close I lived to the school, I could already hear the shouts of excited ponies filling the one room. My teacher, Ms. Celosia, was supposed to be the nicest in the entire city. I hadn't met her yet and I couldn't wait to start learning. I reached the school house, and stepped inside, finally being blocked from the cool wind. Their were about 13 other ponies, I looked around the room, and read the piece of paper magnetized to the chalk board. I was supposed to find my desk, put my bag in my cubby with my name on it, and write one thing I'm looking forward to this school year. I quickly found my desk in the middle of the room and set my pencils and paper inside, then put my saddle bag in the lower cubby that belonged to me. I returned to my desk, I quickly saw a little blue mare standing there. I sat down, "Oh, uh, hi." The mare stared at me, I began to feel awkward. "Can I help you with something?" I asked. She shook her head, then sat back at her seat near the front. Man, these ponies were weird... Finally, the bell rang for me to leave the school, the day was tedious and I couldn't help but feel board. Although learning was really fun. I learned many new ponies names and everypony seemed pretty friendly. I was walking over to my cubby, beginning to pack up my saddle bag when I was approached by a the bright blue pegasus filly now, although this time I knew her name. "Oh hello Mystique" I say. The pegasus has a slight bounce in her step, "Hello Ember! Where ya' goin'? Oh ya and please call me Mystie, Mystique sounds to old" She said. " Okay, and I'm going home." I replied plainly. "Do you wanna come hang out after school tomorrow? I live at Sugar Cube Corner, with my mom Pinkie Pie! We can make cupcakes and you can meet my mom!" Mystie said excitedly. "Really? That sounds fun!" I reply smiling, glad to see some pony was interested in friendship. I began to walk home, Mystie and I parted ways. I couldn't wait to share my adventures today with my mother and father. I began to happily skip home, my saddle bags flopping around my sides. I stepped into my house, smelling a flaky, buttery, mouth-watering smell. I quickly discovered my mother was making apple fritters. "Oh yummy" I said reaching up to grab a fresh out of the oven pastry. "No! Not yet! First thing, they're too hot to eat. Second, you haven't eaten dinner yet." My mother said. "So how was school?" She asked putting more fritters in the oven. "Oh it was so fun! And I made a new friend!" I said beaming. "Oh really who?" She asked. "Mystie, Pinkie Pie's daughter." I say. My mother smiled back at me, "That's great, glad to see my little angel is making friends" She replied in the happy sing-song voice my mother had. I knew today would be a day I'd always remembered. I woke up the next morning, my belly rumbling for food, I slid down the wooden banister to the kitchen where my mother had made my favorite, waffles with apple butter and syrup. I eagerly ate down the food, my mouth wanting more, my mother just shook her head. I ran out the door, almost forgetting my saddle bag. I quickly ran back in, grabbed the bag, and continued to school. I hovered quickly across the ground to my school yard, where fillies and colts were playing on the play ground, skipping rope and playing hopscotch. I smiled as I saw Mystie approaching. "Hi Ember!" She said with the same bounce in her step. "Hello Mystie!" I said. We chatted for a while after, until the bell rang, then school began. Ms. Celosia entered the school house, and we all sat their doing our morning work, hoping to not be caught whispering amongst each other. Ms. Celosia was a pink earth pony, with a long dark green mane, her cutiemark a long celosia flower with a sun. She loved her students, realizing they needed to talk. She was hoping for a nice school year, and the weather, she thought it was terrible. She smiled at her students as they began to look up from their morning work, signaling they were done. She stood from her desk, "Good morning students!" //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2 I saw Ms. Celosia stand, I sighed, knowing the rest of the day was going to be a boar. "Good morning students!" Celosia said with a bubbly smile. I sighed, knowing the day would be long. I eventually drifted into a day dream. Ms. Celosia must have eventually noticed I was in a daydream, because I heard my name. "Ember!" I heard Celosia say in an almost shout. "67!" I yelled popping out of my daze. There was a giggle amongst the class, I saw the teacher give a sigh. "Ember," she said sighing. "Please pay attention in class," I gave a curt nod. "Great, now I'm a weirdo," I said under my breath. I could almost feel the ponies staring into the back of my head, that's how I stayed the rest of the day, blushing and keeping my head down. I heard the bell ring, and I zoomed out of the class room at top flying speed. I didn't even bother with Mystie, she was probably laughing too. I slammed the door to my home, finally breathing. I actually kinda hid throughout my school career, until I finally had to go to summer flight school. I was honestly scared out of my mind, Mystie and I had became close friends, she realized I was shy. I was 11 years old now, and I felt sick as I walked into Sugar Cube Corner. "Good morning Pinkie Pie!" I said seeing the pink earth pony mare. "Hey Ember! Looking for Mystique?" She said with the same bounce as her daughter. "Ya! Has she left yet?" I asked. "No she was about too! Oh ya! I made a new thing of cupcakes, and I need a tester, wanna give em' a try?"  Pinkie asked holding out a batch of blue hued cupcakes. I took one hesitantly, and took a bite. "Tastes like... wubs..." I said studying the cake, a multiple blue hued cake with a backwards double eight note. "Ya the pony named Vinyl Scratch helped me make them!" She said grinning. "Sup'?" asked a blue maned, dark pink eyed, earth pony. I tilted my head in confusion. Pinkie gave a giggle. At the moment I saw Mystie trot down the stairs. "Mystie!" I said trotting over, potentially avoiding an awkward situation. "Ember! Ready to go to Camp?" she asked. I nodded. "Let's get going then!" Mystie said grinning. We said goodbye to Pinkie Pie, and flew up to the clouds. Luckily, me and Mystie were probably some of the best flyers, that's why we got put in the advanced class with the older kids. We walked into the school, then found the check-in table. "Advanced Class here!" Said a orange pegasus pony. Mystie and I flapped over to the table. "Ember Ashes," I said to the orange pegasi, she scanned through the list. "Oh! Report to the advanced course!" She said smiling. "Mystique" she said. The pegasus looked through the list. "Report to the advanced course" the pegasus reported a little more bluntly. Mystie and I flew to the advanced course, seeing a lot of older pegasus ponies. They stared at us oddly. I put on my best smile, knowing I'd look stupid if I didn't. About ten minuets later, a maroon pony appeared being about our age. She gave her rainbow mane a flip, and appeared to be cool and calm. She approached us calmly. "Ladies," she said with a wink. I stifled a laugh, Mystie just stared awkwardly. "I'm Epick Ponyie! My friends call me Epick though." The maroon pegasi replied. "Ember," I stated, I looked at Mystie. "Mystie," she said finally. "Well, I'm assuming you guys must be pretty good at flying, wanna show me what ya' got?" She asked in a cool tone.
