Sucker Pony
Where is my mind?
Previous ChapterNext ChapterWe can deny our angels exist, convince ourselves they can't be real. But they show up anyway, at strange places at strange times. They can speak through any character you can imagine. They'll shout through demons if they have to. Daring us, challenging us to fight.
Two colts opened the car door to the black car Fluttershy and her step-father arrived in. One stallion grabbed Fluttershy by the arm and took her carefully out of the car. Her step-father slammed the door behind him and let his black jacket cover his shoulders. The one colt grabbed Fluttershy by both her arms, and held them behind her back. Fluttershy struggled and tryed to pry loose from his strong grip.
He dropped her and she landed on the hard cement to her knees. She had both hooves on the ground and was looking down. She let out a sob and was picked up by the other stallion. She stood up and was held the same way before. A sign cement block read, "Lunar House, for the mentally insane, Canterlot".
Fluttershy was walked through the opening of the dungeon-like building, and the doors were castle like. They were covered with soaking wet rain and dark-green moss. Fluttershy's step-father opened the large doors and Fluttershy being held by the stallions, came after him. The stallion behind closed both the doors and continued forward.
A window with a small opening, had a bell on the side. Fluttershy's step-father put his hoof on it and released quickly. A nurse in a chair turned around in her chair and looked at the man with a cold-hard-poker face. She slid a clip-board with a piece of paper clipped to the top, in the opening of the window. He took it from the window and scanned it with his eyes, and took a pen out of his jacket.
Fluttershy stood outside a gate next to the window and looked back. She saw a sad-looking couple sitting in two chairs. She saw the colt in the chair caress a hat sadly. The nurse pressed her hoof on a golden button that was worn out and it made a loud buzzing sound. The gates slid open and Fluttershy was forced to look forward as the colts shoved her forward. Her step-father mumbled the answers to the form he filled.
"She's female...and she's 20..." He said quietly as he wrote the words quickly. He came across a section where he was to put check-marks to the things that made her mental, and unsafe to others. He put a check mark next to, Violent, Danger To Others, and Unable to adapt to "social situations". The stallions led her to another door that was also locked. Fluttershy heard the buzzing again and door slid open. A nurse walked down the hall and stopped in front of Fluttershy.
She held a pair of white clothing, and gave it to Fluttershy. She then took a brief-case from one of the colts and continued down the hall. The stallions, Fluttershy, and her step-father filling out the slip, continued to the next room.
As they entered the next hallway, it was dim and damp in it. There was also a white colt standing beside another. He seemed to be waiting for them. Behind them was a gate. All of them were across from the white stallion, and Fluttershy glared at the colt. The stallion held his hand out between the two colts that were holding Fluttershy.
"Your the father?" The white colt asked in a rough voice. Fluttershy's step-father handed him the clip-board.
"Step-father," her step-father corrected the stallion.
"That's right, we talked on the phone," the colt said shaking his head. The stallion had blood-shot eyes and dark makeup, and His mane was slicked back. Fluttershy's step-father made a quick smile that faded back into a inpatient expression. Fluttershy looked at his covered chest, below was a golden key that reflected off the fading lights. Her attention went back to his face, when he took the key and put in the lock in the gate behind him.
"Okay, come with me. We're going to take her to the theater," the white stallion said while opening the gate and holding it for them all, "Doctor Rarity is going to want a look at her, likes to see all the new girls,". He shook his head and closed the door and locked it behind the rest of them.
"Don't worry dad, everything's going to be fine. We've got everything under control around here," he mumbled, "okay, come on, follow me," he said as he walked in the front of them.
Fluttershy and the others walked by banging doors, with muffled laughter. She looked around not scared a lot, but more sad.
"So this is what we call "theater"," he said, looking at them. He used his back-hooves to open the door, and turned back around and led them into a window lit room with tables occupied with many other girls. There was a stage in the back of the room and a girl stood on top of it. Fluttershy looked around and was worried again.
"LIAR!" a mare yelled out, and flipped the table she was sitting at. A bunch of cards flew into the air, and another girl across the table stood up. They both fought and pulled each other's manes.
"Girls," the stallion yelled out. One of the colts holding Fluttershy offered to help.
"Yea, go," the stallion said and pointed at them. Fluttershy's guard ran to the girls and pulled them apart.
"Girls! Behave," He yelled out again. He looked behind him to Fluttershy's step-father and motioned for him to come. Her step-father trotted off the stairs and followed the stallion.
"Lin! Amy! Sit down!" he yelled at them once more. The guards were sitting them down.
"Sit," one of them said in a very cold-hard voice. The white colt went back to Fluttershy's stepfather and began their conversation. Fluttershy stood in front of them and could hear every word they said.
"So the fillies use this place to be social. Doctor Rarity, she's good at dealing with the fillies's problems, therapy. It's quite a show, touching them or beating them. Doctor Rarity thinks it seems to help them, I don't know if does or doesn't. After a little bit of business, she'll be in paradise, if you know what I mean. And all of your troubles, will be, over," the white colt said with a smile in his voice.
Fluttershy looked around and saw the mare on stage again, sitting in a old bed, with the wallpaper being very aged as well.
"I'm taking a really big risk here, so it's going to have to be 2g even," the white colt said with a sigh.
"What the hell are you talking about? Don't try to cheat me, we had a deal," he said clenching his teeth.
"That's what I said, father. I'm not going to tell you what to do, clearly your a colt that can take care of himself. I don't know what you did to this filly, and frankly, I don't want to know. but what are you going to tell the others when the questions come sweeping around? Their going to know more details," he persuaded Fluttershy's step-father.
"Yea," her step-father said and reached in his pocket.
Fluttershy looked at the stage again and saw a white mare, with her purple main pulled up in a bun, on the bottom of the stage.
"I'm going to start the music, you are safe. It's all, safe. Now relax, and just let go," Doctor Rarity said in a soft reassuring voice.
The mare on stage was a lavender purple pony, with a dark purple mane. She swallowed her fear, and listened to the music that Doctor Rarity put on. The tune of the song in the beginning was haunting and the lyrics ever so hope-less.
"Now, here's the other thing. I don't have a doctor on the staff that does lobotomize, but, there just happens to be one scheduled to come in, He'll be here in five days. So I'll just forge the signature a dozen times," the white stallion said to her step-father.
Fluttershy looked down with the worried look she had on. She paid more attention to the stage and ignored the rest of their conversation.
"It's just like we talked about, you control this world," Rarity said to the lavender pony.
"I told the police she went crazy when her mother died, the truth is a little more complicated," her step-father said to the stallion. Fluttershy made a small smile to the mare on stage and looked at her.
"Let the pain go, let the hurt go, let the guilt go," Rarity told the purple mare. The mare looked at Fluttershy with questioning look.
"What your imagining right now, that world you control, that place can be as real as any pain," Rarity went on. Fluttershy gave her a sad look and listened to Rarity's words.
"What about the memory thing?" Her step-father asked the white colt.
"Don't worry, she won't even remember her name when I'm done with her," The stallion said.
With your feet in the air, and your head on the ground...try this trick, spin it. Your head will collapse, but there's nothing in. But you ask yourself, where is my mind? I was swimming in the Caribbean, animals were hiding behind the rocks. Except a little fish, but they told me he swears he was trying to talk to me, to me. Way in the water, see it, swimming...
She was taken through the halls, one pony that opened the gate, carried a lighter. He banged it against a window and the gate opened.
She went by a room, in a line with other ponies, that had a map in the middle. She looked at it, the white stallion being in front of it. The stallion looked back at her and moved aside to talk to somepony else. The line was shoved forward and went down the hall.
She was chopping vegetables in the kitchen and saw a cyan pony empty a pot of onions. Her face was dirty and she had an apron on. A brown pony with a chef's hat on top of his bald-head threw a knife on the table. She looked at it and continued to chop her dark orange carrot.
She was scrubbing a toilet and was on her knees. the white stallion stood over her and the key on his neck dangled in front of her. The stallion looked at her and she looked over her shoulder, and kept scrubbing, her pink ponytails bouncing.
She lied down on a leather futon and had red eyes, from crying. She had her hooves on her stomach and Doctor Rarity sat in a chair in front of her. Rarity shook her head and looked pity at her, her legs crossed.
She was being strapped in her chair by a couple of nurses and they stood aside as a light-brown stallion with overalls and white shirt came in. He pulled curtains to blind people from seeing. He took a tool from a tray filled with water and hovered it above her eye. She looked side to side with her pupils and panicked. There was a poster on the wall and it showed a picture and it was titled, "Lobotomy vertical cross section". The colt had the tool hovering above her eye, he had a tiny hammer and prepared to enter it into her eye...
