//-------------------------------------------------------// Triple Rainbow -by MidnightRain- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Triple Rainbow //-------------------------------------------------------// Triple Rainbow   Triple Rainbow By Mydnyt Rayn   Rainbow Dash sat on her bed, her head facing the ground. She had tried almost everything to become the fastest flier in Equestria. She started at testing her speed and ended at a test run after coming home from the Wonderbolt Academy. All her scores were at all at most four minutes or above. They were the speeds of an average Pegasus.   She continued looking at the floor, trying to find a way to improve her ability. Then she remembered Twilight. She ran a library, so wouldn't there be any books or reports on speed or anything like that? Rainbow stood up from her bed and walked over to her front door. She was going to be the fastest flier if it was the last thing she did.   Rainbow closed a tenth book and placed it back on the shelf where it belonged. When she arrived, she fought the urge to read a Daring Do novel and began finding books on speed. After the fifth, she just started opening random ones, hoping they would give an answer. She looked at the shelf one more time, this time seeing a light brown book with gold edging. She pulled it off the shelf and stared at the cover. Rare Occurrences on our Planet. She opened the book and flipped through its pages.    Solar eclipse, winter and summer solstice, the Lunar Comet, purple moon. Rainbow was about to close the book when she saw a title that grabbed her mind. A triple rainbow. She stared at the three words for a long time. She then got an idea. Rainbow  flipped to the page and began reading. "Triple rainbows are extremely rare. Nopony knows when they will occur, but we are able to see how nature creates it. First, as all rainbows are made naturally, a rainstorm happens. Then as it clears, the sun creates the colors of a rainbow with the water particles in the air, just like if you shine light into a prism. Lastly, the colors take place in the sky and continue to amaze us.   Please note that it will be hard to create one naturally. No Pegasus, unicorn, or earthpony has tried to create one. See reference Cloudsdale Rainbow Pools for an artificial rainbow process." Rainbow closed the book and placed it on its shelf and looked at Twilight who was busy putting books away. "Hey Twilight, do you think a pony could create a triple rainbow?" Rainbow asked.   Twilight turned with a confused look. "A triple rainbow? It's not possible for a Pegasus or anypony to create one. They happen rarely. How come?" Rainbow looked at the ground. "I wanted to try." Twilight giggled and began to speak. "Well, I'm not stopping you." Rainbow quickly looked up and smiled. "Thanks for everything." Rainbow embraced her friend in a hug, and then raced out of the library, leaving Twilight dumbfounded. "What did I do?"   Rainbow stood on the far side west of Ponyville.  She had with her a rain cloud and above her, the sun in the sky. She started by soaking her wings in the cloud. She flew a short distance up, then admiring the results. Behind her were two faint rainbows. After heading back to the cloud, she began wetting her mane and tail as well. Her plan was simple. Fly fast, and then glide. The water would create the rainbows, right? She got in starting position. Then, as fast as she could, took off. She set a few rain clouds ahead, because the air would dry the water off of her, so she would be able to wet herself again. She looked behind her. The rainbows were faint, but deepening in color with every second. She would arrive over Ponyville in no time.   Rainbow raced through the first cloud, water splashing over her body. She could see the point of the Town Hall already and the rainbows were now full brightness. She flew up high above the town, and then, reaching her peak and through the second rain cloud, shot straight down. Pulling up hard, she hit the third rain cloud and started her act. She did spirals and loops, along with twists and turns. She felt her wings getting sore as she flew through the fourth cloud. But she set it in the back of her mind. Pains like that always happened during practice, so it was no worry to her. Little did she know what was really happening.   Rainbow was breathing hard as she burst through the fifth cloud. Down below, she saw crowds of ponies looking up at the sky, admiring the beauty that had appeared. Then, after seeing a familiar orange Pegasus filly, Rainbow upped her game. She created a little rainbow tornado after flying through the sixth cloud, arched across the sky, then seeing Scootaloo bouncing with joy.   ~~~   After flying through the tenth cloud, her wings started tingling. Her entire body felt sore and tired. The crowd was still below, but many left, going about their business. Rainbow was running out of clouds, but at the one point where her body dried, the rainbow continued to flow. Ponies were leaving, so she prepared for her last act.   Rainbow flew through the last cloud and began breathing hard. Her lungs were almost empty, her nose burning from the wind. Rainbow started her final act. She flew strait up and kept going until her wings didn't allow going higher. She drove straight back down, the start of a sonic rainboom touching her hooves. She quickly burst through the sound barrier, creating the event, a triple rainbow riding straight through it. The crowd below cheered loudly.   Rainbow gently flew back up, smiling at her work. A rainboom aftermath and a long triple rainbow stood above Ponyville proudly. Her wings started flapping slower and slower, her eyes closing more with each passing moment. The unthinkable happened moments after. Her eyes close and her wings folded to her sides. Rainbow began falling hundreds of feet towards the small town below her. To Be Continued
