To the west of Equestria lies the land of Arcadia. Within the dense forests lie numerous towns and cities defended by great walls. Behind the walls of the grand city of Eastgate lies the Arcadian College of Arcane Mastery, the very college Candle has been attending for the past two years. Consumed by constant studies and experimentation, Candle seldom leaves the confines of the prestigious university's apprentice living quarters, the only times he's done so was only to visit family.

After a long day of strenuous work, Candle wanders the city in order to clear his mind, but finds himself in the middle of a situation that could change his life, for better or for worse.
