Rainbow Dash merely stared at the screen in front of her before she reeled her head back and laughed. Twilight merely gave her a confused look.
“What’s so funny?” She asked the cyan pilot.
“What’s funny? What’s funny is that you think I’m going to pilot this thing.” Rainbow responded angrily. The two mares glared at each other for a while before something came up on Twilight’s screen.
“Twilight what’s taking so long?” Spike asked her.
“This mare’s in the Liger Zero and yet she says that she’s not its’ pilot.” Twilight replied.
“That’s because I am not and I repeat not the pilot of this thing! I’ve wanted my own Zoid but not like this!” Rainbow said angrily at the unicorn.
“Look….I didn’t catch your name yet.” Twilight said to the pegasus.
“It’s Rainbow Dash.” She said back.
“Look Rainbow Dash. You’re in a very good Zoid considering you’re the first pony it’s ever listened to in years.” Twilight said. Rainbow Dash’s ears perked up after she said that.
“What do you mean?” Rainbow asked in confusion.
“I mean exactly what I said. You’re the first pony to ever get near Liger Zero without it ripping your wings, or your head, off completely.” Twilight stated. The pegasus stared back to the controls around her. The first one to ever be in here? she thought to herself, her pride radiating more so than usual. Her very own Zoid was finally at her command and the best part. No other being has sat in it, pony or otherwise.
She grabbed the motion controls and began to pump them back and forth while stepping on pedals under her left and right hoof and that made the Liger Zero move forward. Rainbow Dash began to chuckle as she moved the Liger around in a circle. She then stopped moving when she heard something. She swore she heard a….growling sound like a jungle cat. She then realized where the sound was coming from. It was the Liger growling in happiness.
“It seems like the Liger likes you Rainbow Dash.” Twilight said with a smile.
“I guess it does. I don’t see why it wouldn’t let somepony pilot it. It moves smoothly.” Rainbow said to Twilight.
“Well Princess Celestia told me that the Liger was unlike any other Zoid made. It was built for somepony with a strong will and good heart.” Twilight explained.
“So am I that pony?” Rainbow asked quietly. And to her surprise the Liger roared telling her that she was that pony to command it.
“Well where’d you come from?” Dash asked the Liger. The Zoid merely growled in annoyance, apparently confused on it’s origins as well, and proceeded to march back into town with the Command Wolf following behind it. The town of Ponyville was, surprisingly, huge for being considered such a small town. They just made it into the market when they came across one of the biggest D-Bisons that Twilight has ever seen. The D-Bison was colored orange with a yellow outline on it’s eyes and all the weapons that were on this Zoid’s body were 105mm 17-Shot Megalo Max Assault Cannons, Crusher Horns, Crusher Metal Spike Hooves, 2 8-Shot Missile Pods, AZ 3-Barreled Shock Cannon, 2 35mm Anti-Ground Cannons, and a Pulse Beam Gun and the equipment loaded on this Zoid was a GPS 3D Radar Antenna.
“Howdy y’all!” The pilot of the giant Zoid shouted. The video hub on each of the two smaller Zoids soon lit up and showed an orange earth pony mare sitting in the pilot seat of the huge Zoid.
“Howdy? That’s all you have to say is Howdy ?” Rainbow barked at the mare on screen.
“WHOA! Calm down there sugar cube just trying to be friendly here.” The mare said with a faint smile on her face. She pulled a stetson hat from a compartment and placed it on her head. “The name’s Applejack to mah friends.”
“I know that already AJ. The one in the Command Wolf is Twilight and her friend Spike.” Rainbow Dash said as she pointed to the other screen.
“Hello.” Twilight said with a smile.
“Hi.” Spike also said with a smile on his face.
“Howdy. Nice to meet ya’ both. Nice Command Wolf by the way.” Applejack said to the unicorn.
“Well...I was actually bringing it to a Junk Dealer here in Ponyville.” Twilight said as she rubbed her head.
“Well Rainbow Dash is our Junk Dealer here in Ponyville. Looking for Zoid parts every chance she gets.” Applejack said as she looked at Rainbow’s video hub.
“Really? You never told me that you’re a Junk Dealer.” Twilight said in a shocked voice.
“Well you never asked me. Besides, I was heading home until you and my new Zoid came along.” Rainbow said back.
“Wait, that’s your new Zoid?” Applejack asked as her eyes widened.
“Uh-huh. Beautiful ain’t he?” Rainbow asked with a smirk on her face.
“Hoo-Wee! Now that’s a Zoid Dash!” Applejack said in an amazed tone.
“Thanks. It’s a rare Zoid too. It’s called a Liger Zero.” Rainbow said back. Applejack could only stare in awe at the Zoid.
“A Liger Zero? Don’t know if I heard of that one Dashie but I know one thing.” Applejack said “Rares would be wanting to get a good look at that one.” That last statement made Rainbow groan with sorrow. Rarity was a nice mare once you get to know her but when she sees a new Zoid get out of her way.
“Say Applejack have you seen Pinkie Pie anywhere?” Rainbow asked the farm mare who just shrugged in response.
“Don’t think ah have. Why?” Applejack asked in replying.
“I want to show her my new Zoid. She’d be impressed.” Rainbow said to the farmer.
“Well ya’ got me there. Well I’d better get back to the farm. See ya’ll later.” Applejack said as she turned off her video screen. The two mares then watched Applejack’s D-Bison slowly walk away from the two.
“Come on Twilight, I’ll take you to meet Rarity. Let’s go.” Rainbow Dash said as she moved the Liger forward and towards town. Twilight then activated her wolf’s motion controls and began to follow Rainbow Dash. She followed him until they came to a building called The Carousel Armory.
“Is this where she works?” Twilight asked as she looks at the building.
“She works and lives here. Come on, let’s get inside.” Rainbow said as she moved the Liger through the garage door. The inside of The Armory was very well designed for both Zoids and Zoid pilots.
“AH! I have customers I see!” Came a heavy Canterlot accented voice. The mare that called out was pure white with a purple mane and she had on an amazing dress despite being a mechanic by the look of things. “My, my this Wolfie has… seen better times I’m afraid.” The mare stated bluntly, earning a snort from Twilight. “DON’T WORRY THOUGH! For Rarity has a nice deal for you darling!” the mare shouted out. Twilight just stood there baffled while Rainbow had to hold back a barrage of laughter waiting to burst out.
“Is she always that blunt?” Twilight asked her giggling friend who couldn't contain herself anymore and bursted out laughing.

As Rainbow and Twilight disembarked from their respective Zoids Rarity walked back in with some work tools in tow.
“Now darlings who needs to have their Zoid worked on first hmm?” Rarity asked. Rainbow pointed at Twilight’s Command Wolf which earned a pouting sound from Rarity. “A pity that you have to give up the poor thing. It looks like it was a truly tough fighter.” She said to Twilight. Twilight merely nodded as touched her old Zoid for what was probably the last time.
“Hey Twilight! Check this out!” Spike yelled from the other side of the garage. Twilight turned her head and saw why he called her over. She saw a Shield Liger who had a snow white base and a purple outline. The Shield Liger was armed with two Laser Sabers, four Strike Claws, an Anti-Zoid 3-Barrel Shock Cannon, two Pop-Out Type Missile Pod, an AMD Double-Barreled Beam Cannon, and an Anti-Zoid 30mm Double-Barreled Beam Gun. The Liger Zero’s equipment was a single E-Shield Generator.
“Whose Shield Liger is this?” Twilight asked as she observed the Zoid. Rarity looked offended at the question.
“MY DEAR… What was your name again? Forgive me I’m bad with first time names.” Rarity said.
“Twilight Sparkle.”
“Thank you. MY DEAR TWILIGHT SPARKLE! I WILL HAVE YOU KNOW THAT THIS IS MY OWN SHIELD LIGER! I KNOW THAT I MAY NOT SEEM THE TYPE TO… PARTICIPATE IN THOSE BARBARIC TOURNAMENTS BUT A MARE HAS A REPUTATION TO UPHOLD!” Rarity shouted at Twilight.
“Jeez. Sorry I asked.” Twilight said to her.
“It’s a nice Zoid Rarity.” Spike said as he observed the Zoid’s turtle waxed leg.
“Why thank you...I’m afraid I haven’t caught your name either.” Rarity said as she blushed.
“It’s fine. I’m Spike. Twilight’s friend and assistant.” He said back with a smile.
“Well thank you Spike for admiring my Zoid’s beauty. Do you have a Zoid of your own?” Rarity asked him.
“No. But I’ve been dying to get one.” Spike replied with a smile.
“Well keep dying Spike because it’ll be a long while before I get you a Zoid.” Twilight said to him.
“Come on Twilight. Lay off of him. A Dragon can dream can’t he?” Rainbow asked her.
“Yes he can but I think that dream won’t be coming true for a long while.” Twilight replied.
Meanwhile on the outskirts of the town four Zabre Fang zoids were amassing just on the outskirts of it. Their pilots, vicious cheating ponies, were becoming more and more excited as the time to attack came closer and closer.
“Are you ready boys?!” The group leader asked.
“Of course!”
“Never been more excited!”
“Let’s do this!”
Then the four Zoids and their pilots bolted towards Ponyville as they cackled. But as they reached the entrance of Ponyville. They stopped at the Zoids in front of the town’s entrance. They saw an orange D-Bison, a light yellow Gun Sniper, and a pink Berserk Fury.
“Sorry to interrupt ya’lls visit, but I’m afraid ah’m gonna have to ask ya’ll to leave.” The D-Bison's rider said to them.
“Are you sure Applejack? I mean we haven’t even thrown them a real party yet.” The pilot of the Berserk Fury asked the D-Bison. The Gun Sniper tried to negotiate for peace however.
“P-please if y-you l-leave now w-we won’t h-hurt you.” She said as calmly as she could. The four Zabre Fang pilots made their Zoids look at each other before letting out a small laugh.
“You? Hurt us? You couldn’t hurt a tree much less one of our z-WHAT THE BUCK!” The Zabre on the far left shouted as he barely dodged a blast from the Gun Sniper.
“T-that was a w-warning shot. Now p-please leave o-or we’ll have to m-make you leave.” The pilot threatened.
“Alright Fluttershy!” The Berserk Fury’s pilot screamed happily.
“Why you….GET THEM!” The Zabers leader roared. The Zabre Fangs did as he ordered and bolted towards the three Zoids.
“Fluttershy, get somewhere that you’ll get a clear shot! Pinkie, make sure none of those Zabers get to Fluttershy as she finds the spot!” Applejack ordered.
“What are you going to do Applejack?” Pinkie asked.
“I’ll turn these punks into scrap parts!” Applejack replied as her Zoid bellowed and began to charge.
“Right! Come on Fluttershy!” Pinkie yelled as her and Fluttershy’s Zoid ran towards a cliff. As they ran, Applejack and her D-Bison charged towards a Zabre and managed to clip it with one of the Bison’s horns.
“AHH!” The pilot screamed. The Zoid flew through the air until it slammed into a boulder cracking it.
“DAMN! MY ZOID’S BATTLE SYSTEM IS FROZEN!” The pilot screamed angrily. Applejack smirked as she turned her Zoid around to charge the pilot. Just as she was about to reach him however she was hit by a Zabre Zoid from her side. The hit disabled her Zoid and left her useless.
“Not so tough now huh farm mare?” The pilot of the Zoid who hit her asked arrogantly. Pinkie saw her friend get hit by the surprise Zoid and stopped in her tracks.
“HEY THAT WASN'T VERY NICE!” She yelled. The three Zoids that were following her and Fluttershy stopped in their tracks.
“‘Not nice?’ What are you four?” The one in the middle asked.
“Fluttershy, head for your firing spot! I’ll hold these meanies off!” Pinkie yelled to her friend as her Zoid roared in anger.
“Alright.” Fluttershy said as she ran to her spot. When she was out of sight, Pinkie paid her attention to the three Zabres.
“Now, wanna dance?” Pinkie asked the three in an angry voice.
“Yeah. I’ll lead.” The Zaber leader replied. He then charged her but Pinkie swiped her opponent’s Zoid with her Zoid’s tail sending him flying backwards skidding across the ground. But it wasn't enough for it to be disabled. Meanwhile, Fluttershy had made it to her shooting spot. She turned her Zoid around and activated the sniper rifle in its tail.
“Alright. I only have five shots left. I need to make them count.” Fluttershy said as she aimed. She carefully aimed the rifle tail and saw Pinkie about to be pounced on by a Zaber.
“Now!” Fluttershy screamed as she pulled the trigger. The tail fired and the bullet managed to hit the Zaber in its side disabling it. Then a video screen was pulled up and on it was Pinkie Pie.
“Nice shot ‘Dead Eye’ Fluttershy!” Pinkie screamed happily.
“Thank you Pinkie. I’ll contact Rarity and have her get here quickly.” Fluttershy said back.
“Do that. And….HURRY!” Pinkie screamed. She yelled as a Zaber Zoid leaped on hers and disabled it with it’s teeth. Fluttershy ran off and tried to contact Rarity to tell her about the situation.
“I have to say Rares you really made some improvements to the shop the last time I was here.” Rainbow said as she and Twilight walked around. They just passed several wrecked Zoids, sadly among them was Twilight's old Command Wolf from earlier.
“Thank you darling I have been refurbishing the Armory for quite a while.” Rarity said but then lowered her voice. “I truly do mean what I said earlier to that Twilight mare though that was an impressive Command Wolf she owned. Hopefully she’ll find the one I picked out just as fitting.”
“And what that new Zoid might be?” Twilight asked. Rarity then walked to her a part of the armory and a shine in Twilight’s eyes became brighter when she saw what the Zoid was. It was a Konig Wolf Zoid. It had a white frame and a black outlining and its weapons were the Electron Bite Fangs, Electron Strike Fangs, and four Double Barreled Multi-Dischargers. The equipment on the Zoid was Headgear which allowed her to use on the Zoid Heat Vision, Night Vision, a Camera, and Dual Seven Kilometer Long Range Targeting Scopes, two Ion Boosters and a Cooling Fan. “Wow… this is an amazing Zoid. I thought they never made any other like this?” Twilight said. She turned back towards Rarity who was messing around with some of her tools. “You did get this legally right?” Twilight asked her. Once more Rarity was just messing around with some of her tools. Just as it looked like a scene was about to start Rarity’s Shield Liger reported an incoming message from Gun Sniper 24180.
“THAT’S FLUTTERSHY!” Rarity gasped as she ran towards it. She got in and activated the Zoid’s message board and saw that Fluttershy appeared to be running.
“RARITY WE’VE GOT- DON’T KNOW HOW MAN- EADING TOWARDS PONYVI- BACK UP NOW!” Was all Rarity got before the screen went black. She looked at the others with a grim look on her face. Rainbow flew up to Rarity’s pilot seat and activated her Zoid’s controls.
“Rainbow, what are you doing?” Rarity asked.
“Getting you ready. We've got a friend to save.” Rainbow replied as she flew into her Liger Zero’s pilot seat and activated it. Twilight was about to get in hers when she remembered that the Konig Wolf is only a one pony Zoid.
“Just go Twilight. I’ll be here.” Spike said with a little smile. Twilight smiled back and got into her new Zoid’s pilot seat. As soon as she turned the Zoid on, it released a series of growls signaling it was ready to fight. The three then ran out of the armory and towards the entrance of Ponyville.
“Well...better see what I can do around here.” Spike said as he headed to a workbench with a Zoid leg on it.
“I hope we’re not too late!” Rarity said as she moved her Zoid.
“Knowing Fluttershy, I think she’ll be alright!” Rainbow said back.
“Do you girls know why she sent that message?” Twilight asked.
“No idea! But we’re gonna find out soon!” Rainbow replied. As the trio rushed towards the outskirts Ponyville they saw why Fluttershy sent out the message. Standing at the entrance of the town were the five Zabre Fang Zoids armed to the teeth. The leader that Applejack hit earlier was up and about once more. He walked forward with a bit of a strut with each step.
“Heh if you’re the back up that yellow wuss from earlier called for then this is really pathetic.” He said as he kicked a nearby Zoid to them. Rainbow saw that it was Fluttershy’s Gun Sniper and her rage started to build. She turned towards the leader and was about to charge him when Twilight appeared on her screen.
“Not yet Rainbow we don’t want to show off the Liger Zero just yet to these knuckleheads.” Twilight said to her.
“Alright. You two start off.” Rainbow said to them. Then Rarity in her Shield Liger charged at the pack of Zabres and luckily as they fired, she raised her shield. But with every attack, the shield grew weaker.
“These blows are draining the shield’s energy quickly. I need to conserve it if I want to last in this fight.” Rarity said to herself. Then as she took a great risk, she shut off her shields. But luckily with a shot of her Beam Cannon, she took out two of the five Zoids.
“Yes!” Rarity said happily. The remaining three Zoids rushed her but were stopped by Twilight’s Konig Wolf.
“Not this time boys!” Twilight yelled as she leaped forward to attack them. She hit the one on the right with enough force to not just disable the weapons but disable the machine altogether. She turned to fight the others when the leader and his remaining ally attacked Twilight in a surprise pounce and knocked her Zoid out of the fight. Rarity was about to run and help her when the leader blasted her Zoid with a gun hidden on his Zoid’s leg.
“My turn.” Rainbow said with a smirk on her face. The Liger Zero then bolted forward and as the Zabers fired at her, they were shocked to see the swiftness of the Zoid.
“She’s too fast! I can’t hit her!” The Zaber pilot said.
“Well keep trying! She’s got no weapons on her so she can’t hit us!” The leader said.
“He’s right. How can I hit him without no weapons?” Rainbow asked herself. Then as she tried to figure it out, she saw something that might work.
“Wanna try it Liger?” She asked her Zoid. The Liger growled telling her yes. The Liger then bolted towards the Zaber pilot and as she did, the Liger’s front legs began to glow brightly.
“What the-” The pilot started.
“NOW! STRIKE LASER CLAW!” Rainbow yelled to her Zoid. The Liger then leaped into the air and with it’s right paw, the Liger slashed the leg of the Zaber off it’s joint.
“YOU NAG! I’LL MAKE YOU PAY FOR-” He started but he never finished as his cockpit was slashed away from his Zoid by a yellow blade.
“What the?” Rainbow exclaimed before she saw a red Liger Zoid that looked remarkably like a Red Blade Liger with two giant swords on it’s side. The Liger looked back at her before leaping away into the distance. Was that? Nah it couldn’t have been her. Rainbow thought to herself. She then joined her two friends in getting Fluttershy and her other friends.

It had been several days since Rainbow Dash had bonded with the Liger Zero and the attack on Ponyville. The group has tried to figure out what the five Zabre Zoid pilots attacked the town. But as they tried to figure it out, they began to prepare their Zoids for the Summer Sun Zoid Tournament which was the next morning. But as Rainbow Dash turtle waxed the Liger’s window, she thought of something over and over again.
Who was that piloting that Red Blade Liger? She thought as she wiped the window. But then she heard a growl of worry coming from the Liger Zero.
“It’s nothing big guy. Just thinking of something.” She said to her Zoid.
“HEY DASH!” A voice screamed. She turned her head and saw Applejack who was covered in oil.
“What’s up Applejack?” She asked.
“Ah’m orderin’ a pizza and Ah wanted to know what ya' wanted on it.” Applejack replied.
“Mushrooms. And black olives.” Rainbow said. Applejack nodded and walked back talking into her earpiece to the stallion at the other end of it. Rainbow went back to work on her Zoid but her thoughts kept returning to that mysterious Red Blade Liger. As she tried again to shake it from her mind Liger Zero nudged her again in true worry for it’s new pilot. “Seriously Zero I’m fine okay?” Rainbow said with a begrudging smile. It never bothered her again as she turtle waxed it. After she was done, she flew down and placed the wax away.
“Well Liger, now you look and will move amazingly at the tournament. I know we’ll win this year.” Rainbow said with a smile as she wiped her hands. The Liger released a growl of happiness as it leaned towards her.
“Now you get some rest big guy. We’ve got a tournament to win.” Rainbow said as she hugged the Liger’s nose. The Liger did as she said and turned off. Rainbow Dash then went into the main room of Rarity’s shop.
“Hey Dash. Pizza just got here.” Applejack said as she walked back from the door and placed a pizza box on the table. Rainbow’s stomach growled in anticipation for the food. She lunged at it and took a few slices for herself. “Whoa there sugarcube! The pizza will still be there when the others arrive.” Applejack told her. Rainbow stopped midway through her third slice with a look of embarrassment.
“Oops. Sorry. I...guess I was kind of hungry.” Rainbow said as she swallowed the pizza in her mouth.
“I understand that-” Applejack started as she grabbed a slice of pizza. “We both got empty stomachs after workin’ on our Zoids. Especially me. I need all the food I can take after reactivating mah Zoid’s combat system.”
“Yeah. Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy are probably starving from fixing their Zoid’s systems.” Rainbow said as she poured a glass of soda. “I have to say those Zabre idiots are really stubborn about who hired them.” She said which earned a pained look from Applejack. “What? What’s wrong?”
“The pilots died last night Rainbow.” Applejack said. Rainbow Dash commenced with a short spit take narrowly avoiding her Zoid and Applejack’s hat.
“WHAT?!” Rainbow screamed.
“They were found in the hospital dead. A poison was found in their systems.” Applejack explained.
“But who’d poison them? Sure they deserve something but not that!” Rainbow said as she paced in a trail.
“Ah know what you’re going through Dash. Ah did the same thing when Ah found out.” Applejack said trying to calm her down.
“B-but they never deserved to die.” Rainbow said a little bit panicky. She soon started to slow her pacing down a little and then heard Rarity call out to them.
“Yo Hoo! Rainbow!” Rarity called out as she ran towards the two ponies. She had a look of mischief in her eyes and Rainbow knew immediately why she came over.
“Oh no! I am not trying on a new dress Rarity!” Rainbow said a little too loudly.
“Oh come on Rainbow Dash! You need a new wardrobe for the tournament tomorrow morning!” Rarity said at Dash’s pitch.
“No! No way! I’d rather pilot a pink Zoid than wear a dress!” Rainbow said back.
“Give it up Rarity. Ya’ know ya’ won’t win.” Applejack said. Rarity then moaned. But then she gave off a smile.
“Oh Applejack!” She said.
“Oh no Rarity! Ah ain’t fallin’ for that!” Applejack said as she jumped out of her seat.
“Oh alright. But anyway, how’s the Zoid repair coming along?” Rarity asked as she grabbed a glass of water.
“It’s comin’ along real nice like. Ah ain’t never had a fight like those Zabre colts before.” Applejack said. Rarity had a sour expression that said that she heard about them as well.
Meanwhile a short distance away from the shop, a pair of eyes was watching the three mares.
“Rainbow Dash, I’ll get my chance to finally see who’s the best Zoid pilot after all these years.” A raspy voice said. Back at the shop, the front door of the shop opened and in came Twilight, Spike, Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy.
“Bout’ time ya’ll made it.” Applejack said.
“Sorry. I needed to fix the aiming module on my Konig Wolf.” Twilight said back. She remembered when she placed the fixed module on the Konig Wolf who barked it’s thanks, with a sound that could break a glass window. “I think he liked it.” Twilight said jokingly.
“Well any Zoid likes it when their pilots tune them up.” Fluttershy said with a smile.
“Yeah! My Berserk Fury loves it when I tune his party cannon!” Pinkie said with a smile on her face.
“Well…. we’d better get some rest. The tournament starts before sunrise and we need to get ready for it.” Rainbow said as she headed towards the room the Liger Zero was in. She then climbed into the Liger Zero and turned it on.
“See you girls in the morning!” Rainbow said as she and the Liger ran off back to her house.
“She’s right. I’d better get going.” Twilight said as she climbed into her Wolf Zoid.
“Welp Ah sure hope y’all can get some good sleep… Cause Ah’d hate to beat y’all when yer not up and ready.” Applejack said with a smirk.
“Oh it’s on. And I’ll make sure that D-Bison is turned into scrap metal!” Rarity said with boldness in her voice. It was gonna be fun tomorrow.
“I hope you win the tournament tomorrow Twilight. I’ll be routing from the stands.” Spike said as he walked next to the Konig Wolf.
“Thanks Spike. And I’ll need luck for tomorrow. There’ll be some tough competition tomorrow morning and I’ll need every bit of energy and ammo I’ll have.” Twilight said back.
“Don’t worry Twilight. With your new Zoid, you’ll win easily.” Spike said cheering her up. Twilight smiled as her Zoid marched forward from her dock and soon was out in public for all to see. Everypony not in a Zoid stared in awe at the huge Zoid. She marched through town and soon ran into Rainbow again.
“Hey Rainbow. What’s up?” Twilight asked.
“Well, did you hear about those stallions that attacked us?” Dash asked in replying.
“I did. I still don’t understand why somepony would poison them.” Twilight said.
“Besides that, I came by to tell you good luck in the tournament tomorrow. Anyway, I’d better to so I can get some sleep. Bye!” Dash then moved her Liger full throttle away from Twilight. When she was gone, Twilight made it to her destination, the Golden Oaks Library. She took it into the garage next to the library and powered it down. Twilight leaped from her pilot’s seat and landed with a loud thud on the hardwood floor and then walked to the nearest book she could find. Spike though quickly grabbed the book from her hands.
“HEY!” She screamed in anger.
“No heys Twilight. You need to sleep.” Spike said back.
“I...guess you’re right. Well, wake me up early Spike.” Twilight said to him as she headed to her bed. She then crawled under the sheets and fell asleep. As she slept, her mind began to create dreams. She saw her winning the tournament, wielding the trophy and doing laps in her Koenig Wolf. But then she saw everything burn around her and a silhouette of a huge mare alicorn in the background laughing at her.
“You will never succeed Twilight Sparkle. You and the rest of your kind will fall before my new kingdom.” An echoing and demonic voice said to her.
“N-no. Who are you?” Twilight asked the voice.
“Your worst Nightmare .” The voice replied. But then Twilight heard the growling of a jungle cat. But as she turned around, a large katana slashed at her making her scream. Twilight woke up in cold sweat and her bed was soaking wet. She started to breathe heavily and noticed that her arm was cut a little bit. Twilight noticed that it was the same spot that the blade sliced her but shrugged it off as nothing more than a mere coincidence. She poured herself some cereal and wolfed them down fast and soon was at her Zoid. She turned to the clock and noticed it was 5:30.
“THE TOURNAMENT STARTS SOON!” She screamed as she ran for the garage door. She then climbed into her Wolf and hightailed it towards Ponyville Town Hall. Then among the other Zoids competitors, she found a spot among the crowd. She then watched as a brown pony with grey hair appear on stage.
“Ladies and gentlecolts, we are gathered here today for a special event. An event that we’ve celebrated for hundreds of years. And we’ve used our Zoids in those years greatly. And now I would like to announce that the Summer Sun Tournament has now officially started!” The pony said happily. Twilight smiled as the first rounds began. After the latest one was finished, Rainbow Dash against some random pony, it was finally her turn. She walked forward and everypony was blown away by her Zoid but then something happened. The lights started to flicker until the light bulbs blew up. The Zoids then began to act strange as if they knew something was up.
“What’s going-” Twilight started. But then she heard a laugh. A laugh that is too familiar.
“LOOK!” A pony screamed. Twilight turned and saw shadows appear where Celestia was sitting. But then another Alicorn appeared. She had black fur, blue reptilian eyes, and a purple splotch with a moon for a cutie mark.
“No. It isn’t her.” Twilight said as she backed up her Zoid.
“WHO ARE YOU AND WHERE’S THE PRINCESS?!” Rainbow roared along with her Liger.
“Well haven’t you ever heard of me? Don’t you recall the legends?” The Alicorn asked. Twilight took a brave step forward as she proclaimed who the mystery mare was.
“I remember! You are the traitor to the throne! The Mare Of The Moon! Nightmare Moon!” Twilight yelled. The rest of the audience gasped but the Zoid pilots all readied their Zoids and charged her only to be intercepted by a black Murasame Liger with its Murasame Sword, Dual Sword Cannon, Triple-Barreled Shock Cannon, 4 Strike Laser Claws, and its Tail Blade. All of the Zoids were disabled by the Murasame Liger and were powerless before the two tyrants. Nightmare Moon laughed a despicable laugh.
“Remember this day my subjects! For it was your last! FROM THIS DAY FORTH THE NIGHT WILL LAST FOREVER!”
My Little Zoids: Friendship is Cybernetic
Twilight started to panic a little as she tossed the books off their shelves in the Library.
“No no no no no no no!” Twilight said as she looked through yet another book that had nothing in it about how to stop Nightmare Moon. She also looked for a way to help her Zoid get powered back up so that it could fight that Murasame Liger again.
“Spike, can you he-” She started as she turned to her Dragon. But she smiled and sighed at the sight of him sleeping. “Nevermind.” She said quietly as she closed another book. She then ran to the other shelf and began to search through it.
“Oh where is it? I know it was here.” She said to herself as she looked through the books.
“Twilight. Ya’ here?” A familiar voice asked. Twilight turned her head and saw the girls walk into the library. “Wat’cha lookin’ for sugar cube?” Applejack asked her. Twilight was about to answer when Rainbow flew into the library and grabbed her by the coat collar.
“How did you know about Nightmare Moon huh? Are you a spy? Did you sabotage my Liger so she could-”
“Now there sugar cube if that was the case she wouldn’t have tried to charge her in her own Zoid as well you know that." Applejack said as she grabbed Dash’s tail. She then backed up and stared at the unicorn.
“I’m sorry. But how did you know the Nightmare Moon would return?” Rainbow asked. Twilight just shrugged her shoulders.
“When Celestia and Luna locked her up that was one of her retorts that she would come back to finish the job and shroud the land in darkness. She was a genocidal monster back then too so not much has changed sadly.” Twilight explained.
“Well is there anything that can beat her?”Rainbow asked.
“There is. They’re called the Elements Of Harmony. But I can’t seem to find my book about them.” Twilight replied.
“The Elements Of Harmony: A Reference Guide.” She heard Pinkie Pie say. They all turned towards her slowly with some of the best poker faces you will ever see.
“How did you-” Twilight started
“Duh! It’s right above your head silly!” Pinkie said with a smile on her face as she bounced around.
“Oh.” Twilight said as she opened the book. “The Elements Of Harmony. Six magical artifacts which have the power of gods. They are the elements of Honesty, Generosity, Laughter, Kindness, and Loyalty. However, the sixth is a mystery. It is rumored that they are located in-” She started. She looked through it again to make sure she read it right before she fainted. Rainbow walked over and poked her several times before she picked up the book.
“Aw buck.” Rainbow said.
“Well where are they?” Rarity asked her but somehow she knew the answer before Rainbow even said it.
“The Everfree Forest.” She said making the girls gasp.
“T-T-The Everfree Forest? B-But it’s dangerous!” Fluttershy stuttered.
“I agree. Dangerous hazards, ferocious plants and animals, nothing anypony wants to run into!” Rarity added.
“Well, we’d better fix up our Zoids and get a move on. But first-” Applejack started before she stuck her finger in her mouth and pulled it out as it dripped with saliva. She then stuck it in Twilight’s ear and made her eyes widen as she screamed and jumped up.
“Ew ew ew ew ew ew ew!” Twilight said as she wiped at her ear. When she finished wiping the saliva off she turned back towards them.
“So anypony care to help with my Zoid?” Twilight asked them.
“Sorry Twi’. But we’ve gotta work on our own Zoids. You’re gonna have to work on it yourself.” Rainbow replied as she headed out the door. Spike woke up at that moment though and noticed just how banged up the Koenig Wolf really was.
“I’ll grab the blowtorch.” He said as he got out of his bed. Many hours later and after many repairs, the girls had their Zoids fully repaired and headed towards the entrance of the forest.
“Well, are ya’ll ready?” Applejack asked them.
“Uh-huh.”
“Yeppers!”
“Um… yes.”
“I was born ready.”
“Affirmative.” Twilight replied finishing the check.
“Alright. Now I guess… we get a scootin’ in.” Applejack said. The group marched through the forest without meeting much resistance. Unbeknownst to them they were being watched by the very maniac they were trying to stop.
“So…. Twi’. We’re good on the whole Wet Willy thing aren’t we?” Applejack asked as she stared at her video screen.
“Yeah… but don’t think I’ll let it slide by.” Twilight replied in an angry voice.
“Sorry ‘bout doin’ it. But there wasn’t any other way to wake ya’ up.” Applejack said.
“How about a glass of cold water?” She asked making Applejack blush. Then coming onto the video screen was Rainbow Dash.
“Sorry about interrupting you, but how much further is the old stone pile?” Rainbow asked as she stared at Twilight. Twilight huffed as she and the others came onto the screen.
“Yes Twilight. How much further is the castle?” Rarity asked her.
“A few miles and we’ll be there. Just keep weapons on just in case we run into any wild Zoids.” Twilight replied as her wolf sniffed the air. The moment she said this however a earthquake rumbled and knocked Twilight over a cliff causing her Zoid to hang on by her claws.
“HANG ON!” Applejack screamed as her D-Bison charged towards the two. Then quickly Twilight made her wolf grab onto the bison’s leg with it’s claws.
“Applejack, help me up!” Twilight yelled.
“Twilight, ya’ gotta let go!” Applejack yelled back.
“WHAT?!” Twilight screamed.
“Just trust me!” Applejack told her.
“How can I?” Twilight asked.
“I promise Twi’! Nothin’s gonna happen to ya’.” She replied. It took a minute, but Twilight released the wolf’s grip on the ledge and fell down the cliff. She screamed for a minute but then Dash and Fluttershy quickly made their Zoids leap into the air and catch Twilight.
“See, I told ya’ nothin’ would happen!” Applejack said as her D-Bison leaped down the cliffside.
“Alright. Now let’s continue.” Twilight said as her wolf began to charge through the forest.
“HEY! WAIT FOR US!” Pinkie screamed as she moved her Zoid full throttle forward. The group continued through but soon came across a giant river to which there was no way for their Zoids to get through without them getting short circuited.
“Since when did the Everfree have a river?” Rarity asked the group.
“Ah don’t know. But we need to get across.” Applejack replied.
“Maybe your D-Bison can knock down a tree for a bridge. Find one large enough to cross.” Twilight ordered.
“On it!” She yelled as her bison moved to a tree that looked thick enough and long enough to cross. As her bison went behind the tree, she heard a growling like a wild tiger.
“What the-” She started as she turned her Zoid around. But then she was tackled by one of the most dangerous feline-like Zoids ever known. It was a Gun Tiger. It had a dark blue base and black outlining. The weapons on the Zoid were a High Frequency Fang, 4 High Frequency Claws, and an AZ 105mm Static Magnum. The equipment on the tiger were 2 Ion Boosters, 2 Multi Antennas, 2 Dual Sensor Ears, and a Rear Security Sensor. “Aw buck me.” Applejack said. She turned her Zoid around and faced the Gun Tiger but was soon blasted by the magnum on the Zoid.
“Heh and she said you ponies were going to be a real fight.” The pilot of the tiger said with a chuckle.
“Wait, Nightmare Moon sent you?” Twilight asked.
“She did. Now how about we continue with the fight here?” The pilot asked.
“We can.” Dash replied as her Liger Zero roared. The two Zoids then started to circle each other and they proceeded to charge one another. Rainbow’s Liger struck first knocking the Magnum off of the Gun Tiger. The Zoid then in turn slashed at her with a High Frequency Claw, landing a scratch on the window of the cockpit.
“HEY! I JUST REPAIRED HIM!” Rainbow yelled. “THAT’S IT! LIGER ZERO, STRIKE LASER CLAW!” She yelled. Her Zoid then charged the Gun Tiger and sliced its head from it’s body. Rainbow soon leapt out of her Zoid and flew over to the rival Zoid. She forced the pilot window open and yanked the driver out of it.
“Alright buddy! Now! Tell me-” She started. But then she dropped him when she saw him shaking violently and foaming rapidly at the mouth.
“TWILIGHT!” Rainbow yelled. Twilight then got out of her Zoid and ran over to the scene.
“W-What happened?” Twilight asked her.
“I-I don’t know! I just yanked him out of his Zoid and he started to shake and foam at the mouth!” Rainbow yelled at her. Twilight placed the convulsing stallion on the ground but by then it was too late. The stallion suddenly just stopped moving and his eyes were staring into nothing but the night sky.
“D-Did I-” Dash started to ask the unicorn whose horn was glowing.
“No. He had a Cyanide Pill. I’m guessing if he failed Nightmare Moon, he’d want to make sure we didn’t get to him.” Twilight replied as she closed the stallion’s eyes.
“Well, we’d better get moving. Applejack, I’ll help you get that tree down.” Rainbow said as she climbed back into her Zoid. Applejack nodded as she tried to turn her Zoid back on but found it could barely make it start up.
“What in tarnation? AH CAN’T START HER UP!!” Applejack screamed as she slammed her fists into the console.
“Your Zoid is low on energy. It won’t start up. Here, allow me.” Rarity said as she moved her Zoid next to Applejack’s. Then a power line came out of Rarity’s Liger and into AJ’s D-Bison.
“Ya’d do this Rarity. Ah mean give up some of your Zoid’s energy for mine?” She asked.
“Of course. We’ll need everypony if we want to save Equestria.” Rarity replied as her Zoid started to transfer energy. A few moments passed and soon Applejack’s D-Bison was powered up and soon knocked over the tree and the others crossed.
First I fall off a cliff, then we get ambushed. What else can Nightmare Moon prepare for us?

It was a calm and quiet day in Canterlot and everyone was going about their daily lives but in secret they were all excited about what was going on. In just a few hours time their lives would change for the exciting. For later today was a tournament. A Zoid tournament. Zoids are large mechanical beings shaped in the forms of animals of the land, the air and the sea. All races of Equestria compete in tournaments where their Zoids lock into combat in teams of three with melee and ranged weapons on massive battlefields. And today was a very special day for one of the greatest Zoid tournaments Equestria can offer.
The Summer Sun Zoid Tournament.
Her Zoid was a standard Command Wolf. It’s frame was purple and it was outlined with silver. It was armed with the normal Electron Bite Fangs, Strike Claws, and a 50mm Anti-Zoid Double Barreled Beam Cannon and for its equipment was Smoke Dischargers. The wolf itself however had seen better days. Despite being extremely durable the Zoid had taken a lot of damage over the course of the fights in the practice room where Twilight and Trixie, another Zoid fighter, practiced under Celestia and Luna’s guidance. Right now Twilight was looking at a repair guide to her Command Wolf, which was now nearly scrapmetal, to see how to repair it’s Smoke Dischargers since Trixie, who used an Iron Kong Zoid, banged it up pretty bad.
“Now let’s see-” Twilight said to herself as she observed the manual. “The first thing is that it probably needs to change the power coupling in the right Discharger, already tried that thank you, and if that doesn’t work then you simply need to scrap the Zoid to a Junk Dealer and buy a new one, like Tartarus I am.” Junk Dealers were wondering merchants who picked up old Zoids and sell some of their parts for bits.
“Hey Twilight, did you fix the Smoke Dischargers yet?!” A male young voice yelled. Then coming into the repair room was Twilight’s friend and number one assistant Spike. A teenage purple scaled, green spine dragon. Spike was the second closest thing to family Twilight has due to her real brother still in the service to her majesty Celestia as her Royal Guard Captain. The little dragon had no Zoid of his own but to him that didn’t matter all that did was making sure Twilight was up to date with her Zoid.
“No. Trixie and her Iron Kong banged the Dischargers up pretty bad. I don’t think I can fix them.” She replied. Over the course of several years Twilight and Trixie had developed a small rivalry that each had only been fueled due to their separate teachers being the two royal alicorns. So whenever the two had a chance, they’d fight in the training room with their Zoids. Trixie would win a few matches while Twilight would win another few matches.
“Did that manual say what to do if you can’t fix it?” Spike asked her.
“Unfortunately yes it did. Hay seeds it even said that I should just sell the old girl and get a new one.” Twilight said depressingly. She and the old wolf had been through a lot together. From the first time using it in battle and her first friendly fight with Trixie but now it seems that it was time for one of her closest friends to say goodbye one last time.
“Don’t worry Twilight. We can ask Celestia where the nearest Junk Dealer is.” Spike said trying to cheer her up.
“Alright. I can’t believe I’m scraping my Command Wolf. I’ve had it for so long. It’s just gonna be hard to say goodbye.” Twilight said as she pressed her hand against her friend’s leg. Spike then placed his scaly hand on Twilight’s shoulder.
“It’ll be okay Twilight. Come on. Let’s talk to Celestia.” Spike said. Twilight then went to the door of the repair room and just before she closed it, she gave her old friend a last look. She then closed the door and began her walk to the Castle. As she walked, she remembered the good times she’s had with her Command Wolf. From when she was given it to her first battle. She was going to miss her friend but it was for the best.
She then made it to the castle. She walked up to the gate and the guards moved out of the way allowing her and Spike entrance. The two walked in and walked through the hallway until the came into the Throne Room. The two then bowed in the presence of Celestia. The princess was a tall white figure that stood several feet, about two more so than Twilight and Spike, and had decided that today she would wear regal clothing that spoke volumes about the ponies who made it. Her mane, flowing through the small draft the room had, was almost akin to a rainbow but was missing the red in it.
“Twilight Sparkle, Spike, how good it is to see you.” Celestia said happily with a smile on her face.
“It’s nice to see you too Princess Celestia.” Twilight said back in a sad tone.
“Twilight, what is wrong?” Celestia asked in a worried voice. Twilight then sighed and looked at Celestia.
“My Command Wolf’s Smoke Dischargers can’t be repaired. I tried but I can’t fix it. I need to find a Junk Dealer who’s the nearest from Canterlot.” Twilight replied. Celestia then brought a map to her face and observed it. She then placed the map down and looked at the two.
“You’re in luck Twilight. For there is a Junk Dealer near Canterlot.” Celestia said to her student. Twilight’s expression changed into a big smile.
“Really?!” She asked in a happy voice.
“Yes. There’s one somewhere in Ponyville.” Celestia replied.
“Great! When can I leave for Ponyville?” Twilight asked her teacher.
“You can leave immediately.” Celestia replied. Twilight then got up and was about to run out the door.
“Twilight” Celestia started getting Twilight’s attention.”I have a mission for you while you’re in Ponyville.”
“What is it?” Twilight asked. Celestia then got off of her throne and walked towards the Unicorn.
“You know about the Liger Zero don’t you?” Celestia asked.
“You mean that Zoid that won’t allow anypony into it? Then yes.” Twilight replied.
“Well I need you to take it with you to Ponyville.” Celestia said.
“WAIT WHAT?!” Twilight shouted. This was understandable as the Liger Zero was totally considered off limits due to the fact that it mauled, this is the only appropriate word to describe the attacks, any and all who got near it. To hear that she was to take it to small town made her stomach do somersaults. “A-are you sure princess?” The young mare asked her teacher. The elder mare merely grew a small smile on her face before she nodded the new information stunning her student as she turned to leave the room. Just as Twilight exited the door she bumped into the last pony she wanted to see at the moment.
“Hello Sparkle.” Came the familiar overbearing tone that Twilight had gotten used to over her years of fighting her. Trixie merely looked at her rival with her periwinkle eyes “Tell me what did you need with the princess hm? Talking about our last match and how I beat you?” The show mare bragged before she noticed the small bit of sorrow behind her rivals eyes.
“Not now Trixie.” Twilight said to her enemy.
“Why not? You cannot admit that Trixie is the true Zoid champion?” She asked in a cocky voice.
“No Trixie. But I can admit that you trashed my Command Wolf.” Twilight replied.
“Well if you had gotten a better Zoid, then maybe it wouldn’t be in the scrap heap.” Trixie said back. Twilight then lighting up her horn teleported her and Spike to a warehouse.
“That’s better. No naggers.” Twilight said in a relieved voice.
“Twilight, which warehouse are we in?” Spike asked his friend. Then two then turned their heads and saw why this warehouse looked familiar. They saw a Zoid that was dangerous to anypony it didn’t like. It was the Liger Zero.
“Well at least we’re here to get it.” Spike said to Twilight.
“Alright. The Smoke Dischargers might not be working on my Command Wolf, but at least it can move things. Spike, I’m going to get the wolf. You keep an eye on the Liger Zero.” Twilight ordered him.
“Yes Twilight.” He said back as he saluted. Then Twilight’s horn lit up again and she teleported to the repair room her Command Wolf was in. She then climbed into the cockpit of the Command Wolf and activated it.
“Alright old girl, let’s get the Liger ready to move.” Twilight said as she began to activate the wolf’s motion controls. The wolf then walked out of the repair room and then Twilight kicked it up by moving the motion controls faster making the wolf run. She ran through the streets of Canterlot making ponies move out of her way. She then made it to the warehouse and saw Spike watching the motionless Zoid.
“Spike, hook up the Liger please.” Twilight said over the wolf’s communication. He then grabbed a chain and hooked up the Liger to the Wolf. Spike then climbed into the Wolf and the two and two Zoids began their journey to Ponyville.
“Man sometimes I hate this job.” A rainbow maned pegasus said, as she shifted through the junk in her pile. It was a calm day at the Ponyville Junkyard but even she was excited by the arrival of the Zoid tournament though for different reasons. Said pegasus was a Junk Dealer and was considered one of the best due to her having the best parts for any Zoid. The tournament was going to be a very busy day for her and luckily she was ready for it as well. Her name...was Rainbow Dash. Rainbow Dash loved seeing the Zoid tournaments ever since she was a filly. She’s always wanted to ride in a Zoid and wanted that Zoid to be built by her own hands. And so today she was digging through the pile of weapons old Zoids were junked with. She was looking for a shoulder mounted missile launcher and so far she wasn’t having any luck.
“Need help looking for somethin’ Dash?” The Junkyard owner named Scrap Metal asked her.
“Yeah. Do you a shoulder mounted missile launcher anywhere?” Dash asked.
“Sorry Dash. Sold the last one yesterday.” Scrap replied.
“WHAT?!” Rainbow Dash shouted.
“Sorry. But a pony needed it for their D-Bison.” Scrap replied.
“Dammit.” Dash said angrily.
“Don’t worry Dash, we’ll always get new parts. There’s a chance a missile launcher will be one of them.” Scrap assured.
“Thanks. Well I gotta get going. See ya’ Scrap Metal.” Dash said as she left the Junkyard. Well that was a complete waste of time, Dash thought to herself bitterly. The one time this tournament was going to be near here and she didn’t even have any good scrap for any of the Zoids. She sighed and started to go back home Maybe Scoots had a better day then me, The pony she thought of was a small pegasus filly that looked up to her as an idol. She was just about to exit out of Ponyville when she was nearly trampled by an old Command Wolf Zoid that really had seen better days.
"Watch where you’re going next time!
“H..hey. Keep that Zoid on a leash.” Rainbow said as she backed away from the approaching Zoid. But no matter how much she backed up, the Zoid approached her even more until it’s face was looking at hers. Then the door to the cockpit of the Zoid opened.
“No. There’s no way I’m climbing into that-” She started. But then without warning the Zoid picked her up with it’s paw and placed her in.
“Hey!” She yelled when she landed into the seat of the cockpit. She wanted to get out of the Zoid, but she felt something. Unlike other Zoids that were offered to her this one felt… right. There was no other way to describe it but this one felt like it was meant for her. Then a flash of light appeared in front of Dash’s face and then a video screen came on. On it was a lavender Unicorn who had a smile on her face.
“Who are you?” Dash asked the Unicorn.
“I’m Twilight Sparkle. And you’re now the personal owner of the Liger Zero.”
