And then there was darkness
“Alright, ponies,” the cloaked shadowy figure said from the darkness. “Here is now the game is played.” He withdrew a revolver and loaded one round into the cylinder. “There is one bullet in the weapon.” He spun the cylinder. “Each of you will point the weapon at their head and tell their darkest secret.”
“This is a stupid game,” the doctor said. “Why did I even agree to this?”
“That is irrelevant. And since you are complaining, you are first.” The figure slid the revolver along the table to the doctor. “Make known the truth.” The doctor placed the barrel of the revolver to his temple.
“I… I took the fall for the guy who instigated that Changeling extermination thing that happened about a year ago.”
“You don’t say,” a mare said from the other side of the table. It was Rasa. “I remember that. It was around the time of that assassination attempt on the princess wasn’t it.”
“No, that was the year afterward,” Hawk said as he leaned his weight onto the table. “The entire nation went up in arms over that whole thing. It wasn’t even that difficult to accomp-” Hawk interrupted himself.
“What was that?” Rasa asked, curious about his sudden halt. “It wasn’t that difficult to accomplish? What do you mean?”
“When I get the gun, I will explain.”
“Alright, doctor, it is time for judgement. Pull the trigger,” the cloaked figure said somberly.
The doctor swallowed hard. “One more thing,” he said, the gun shaking in his hoof. “I was the scientist who created the toxin in the first place. Flame offered me so much money, I just couldn’t refuse.” He pulled the trigger, the hammer struck metal. The room was silent as he slowly opened his eyes and gently set the revolver onto the table.
“The truth has been made known.” The cloaked figure slid the gun to Hawk. “Make known the truth.”
Hawk picked up the revolver and ran his hoof along the barrel of the weapon. “The assassination attempt on the princess… I was a part of that.” A quiet gasp echoed through the room. “And the hit was ordered by the princess herself.”
“But why would Celestia try to kill her sister?”
“No, Luna ordered the hit on herself. It was to boost her approval rating,” Hawk said as he placed the barrel to his head. “It worked.” He pulled the trigger. The hammer struck metal. The bullet was not in the chamber.
“The truth has been made known.” The figure slid the revolver to the stallion across the table. “Make known the truth.”
The stallion picked up the revolver and placed it on his temple. “I pretended to go insane in the woods to cover up my affair.”
“Okay, that’s completely unimpressive,” Hawk said as he crossed his forelegs. “Let’s get something interesting.”
“I don’t know what else to tell you.” the stallion said with a shrug. “Its really cut and dry.”
“Was there anything else important you did?”
“Oh, I did discover that you can build a floating house.”
“Alright, you are officially boring me,” Hawk said.
“Here goes nothing,” the stallion said as he lifted the barrel to his forehead and pulled the trigger. The hammer struck metal. The bullet was not in the chamber.
“The truth has been made known,” the cloaked figure picked up the revolver and handed it to Rasa. “Make known the truth.”
“Do you really think I have anything interesting to say?” Rasa asked as she put the revolver to her head.
“Don’t you have any secrets?”
“I never got my cutie mark, that’s about it,” Rasa said as she rubbed her chin with her hoof. “Well… now that you mention it. I did have the chance to stop that airship from crashing.”
“No, I could have,” a stallion said from the table. He was wearing a pilot’s uniform. “I was the pilot and I could have hit the emergency eject button, but I simply forgot it was there.” He took the gun from rasa, pointed it at his head, and pulled the trigger. The hammer struck metal. The bullet was not in the chamber. He gave the weapon to Rasa who placed it against her temple.
“It won’t matter if I’m dead anyway. I already wasted my life waiting,” she pulled the trigger. The hammer struck metal. The bullet was not in the chamber.
The room grew deathly quiet as the cloaked figure picked up the weapon and aimed it at his head. Everypony knew that this chamber housed the bullet, but the figure placed it against his temple all the same.
“What’s your secret?” Hawk asked, his voice trembling almost as much as his body was. “It had better be worth it, you have the bullet.”
“My secret?” the figure took a deep breath. “Where to start, where to start. I am not of your world, I am not of a breed you would understand, I am a creator, I am a destroyer. Doctor, you did not create the poison, I did, out of the darkness of my heart. Captain, it was not your fault that hero died, it was mine, I let him perish for the sport of it. Hawk, it was not the princess who ordered the assassination attempt on herself, it was me. I commanded it for entertainment. The stallion with no name, the one who was stalked, you went insane by my hand, not by a tormenting spirit, but by my order. And Rasa, it was not you who decided to have an empty life, it was me, I made you live as nothing as a lesson to others. And to you all, it was not chance that decided who would receive this bullet, it was me, out of the understanding of what I have done. You were all created in a 31 day timespan, a time in which i built worlds upon worlds upon worlds, and then let them crumble. I created lives and destroyed them just as quickly.” The cloaked figure pulled the trigger. The hammer struck the primer. The room lit up… and then there was darkness.
