Princess Celestia was walking out of her bathroom in a bathrobe. She was never able to arrange to see Luna’s new friend because she and Luna were caught up in the panic of her letter to Twilight being sent to Spike by mistake! While they managed to eventually calm down, there was still restlessness between the two.

She sat down at the chair by her vanity and began brushing her hair, she was trying to figure out how to solve this issue, she also worried that it could split their friendship apart. Just then, a letter appeared. She opened it and saw that it was from Spike. It read:

Dear Princess Celestia,

Your letter came a little late. Twilight grounded me for two weeks and made a scene at Carousel Boutique.  I think she and Rarity might have ruined their friendship because of me. I feel horrible, that their friendship was ruined by me. Why couldn’t I keep my big mouth shut?

If you think I feel bad, Twilight’s even worse. The reason why she didn’t write this letter is because she cried herself to sleep. I-I feel horrible, I can’t do anything right, why can’t I? I didn’t used to be like this but- what happened to me?!

Please help,

Spike

Celestia dropped the letter and fell to her knees. She felt like crying at this point knowing that her efforts have failed. ‘This cannot happen! If their friendship disintegrates...’

Celestia heard a knock at the door. She got up and straightened her bathrobe, “Who is it?” She asked, trying to keep her voice from cracking.

“It’s me, Tia, I brought that someone with me.”

“Oh. Um… Just one moment.” She immediately walked to her closet and looked for a decent nightgown to wear. She eventually found one that wasn’t too revealing and slipped off her bathrobe, quickly putting on the nightgown. “Come in!” Celestia called.

Luna opened the door, wearing a blue, strapless, starry dress and heels. The man with her, was wearing a nice black suit, a white shirt, and a red tie. “Good evening, Princess Celestia,” he greeted.

“Good evening,” she greeted back.

“This is Eclipse,” Luna explained.

“Oh, it’s a pleasure to meet you, Eclipse. I’m sorry for my current state, I didn’t realize you’d be coming.”

“Oh, I’m sorry, Luna wanted me to meet her big sister, so I couldn’t refuse.”

“It’s alright, I’ve been wanting to see the man my sister’s been talking about non-stop for since yesterday.”

Luna blushed, lightly hitting Celestia with her purse.

Celestia was starting to feel better, but her mind still wasn’t at peace. Nevertheless, she couldn’t ruin this for her sister. Her efforts were starting to fail as the signs were becoming more obvious to Luna. “Are you alright, Tia?”

Celestia was brought out of her trance, “Um, yes, I’m fine, Lu-lu. So…” Celestia used her magic to pull up the chair from her vanity and sat down, “How did you two meet?”

“Well, I was browsing in the library looking for some books that would aid me in practicing art forms. When I went to grab for my last book, I did not notice him until I felt his fingertips on the back of my hand.”

‘How romantic!’ Celestia thought.

It was Eclipse’s turn to speak. “Next thing you know, I find myself in a fine restaurant with her and we’re talking about each other.”

“I see, so you’ve already been on your first date, Luna?” Celestia asked, teasingly, her mood getting better.

“I don’t know if I’d call it a date…” Eclipse explained.

“It wasn’t a date, we were just...eating at a restaurant together.” Luna added.

“What do you call a date,” Celestia asked while smirking with a raised eyebrow.

“Um...When a man and a woman go to a public place-”

“Like a restaurant?” Celestia teased.

Luna sighed, “Well, if it will appease you, I would call what we did tonight a ‘date’.”

“I see,” Celestia’s smirk disappeared and looked into Eclipse’s eyes, “You had better take good care of my sister and not-”

“Tia! I am a grown woman!” Luna exclaimed, “I do not need to be treated like a teenager.”

“Uh huh,” Celestia replied.

"Don't worry, your majesty. Luna already threatened me," Eclipse chuckled.

"Good,"

Eclipse looked at his watch, "I'd better get going; Solaris will get mad at me if I’m late."

"Solaris?" Celestia asked.

“He’s my roommate and best friend.”

"Oh, I see. Perhaps sometime I could meet him?"him?”

“Maybe I can arrange something. Anyway, I guess I’ll see you two later.”

"I will walk you out, Eclipse." Luna offered.

“Oh, I couldn’t trouble you with that.”

"No, I insist."

“I can’t let you walk back alone.”

“Nonsense! I'm sure I've learned my sister's castle by now."

Eclipse chuckled. “Okay, I give up.”

“Huzzah!” Luna squeed, she motioned Eclipse to follow her. Eclipse nodded and walked beside her.

Celestia waited until the two were out of her sight before she looked back at the letter. Her heart ached for Twilight and Spike after what she had recently read. Her mind wandered to when Twilight had began taking care of Spike when he had just hatched. The two had a special relationship; Twilight treated Spike like her own child. She fed him, changed his diapers, and even helped him get to sleep. It tore Celestia up inside to see that beautiful relationship ruined over a misunderstanding.

She had to fix this.

She took her pen and the back of Spike’s letter and wrote this note:

Lu-Lu,

I am going to be taking my leave to Ponyville for tomorrow. The reason for this visit is seen on the back of this note. I will return once the problem has been rectified.

Sincerely,

Tia

Spike lay on his bed, his face buried in a pillow. Not one second went by where he would look up. Tears were occasionally sliding down his cheeks, he felt horrible. Could it get any worse?

Suddenly, Spike heard a knock on the door, ‘What? I thought Twilight went to bed.’ He got up and opened the door. Standing before him was white Earth pony with pink hair, wearing a pink sweater, jeans, and tennis shoes. “Um...Why are you in our house?”

The girl looked down at herself. “Oh! Hold on.” She snapped her fingers and instantly changed into Princess Celestia.

“What the-? How did you do that? You’re not a Changeling, are you?”

Celestia giggled at the reaction, “No, it’s me. It’s a spell that some alicorns can execute with a little discipline and patience.”

“Oh...That must be fun!”

“It is. The spell was actually created in response to the changelings. But enough about that...I need to talk to you about something.”

“Oh…”

“I received your letter.” Celestia explained.

“Yeah…”

“What happened?”

“It’s all my fault.”

Spike began explaining what had happened the previous day, trying hard not to tear up. It was obvious to Celestia how bad he felt, so when he finished, she embraced him in a large hug.

“What’s wrong with me?”

“There’s nothing wrong with you, Spike. You’re still the same kind, sweet, caring dragon you always were.”

“But why am I acting this way? Why am I being this way? I-”

“Spike, I think this is something Twilight needs to talk to you about, but It’ll have to wait until she cheers up.”

"I guess..."

“But the main thing that you need to know is that you are not to blame for the incident; You were going through a phase you knew nothing about. In fact, I would be concerned if you weren’t so moody.”

“You would be?”

She nodded, “It would have meant that you weren’t growing.”

"Not again! I don't wanna be a large, ugly, greedy dragon."

Celestia shook her head and said, “It’s not just dragons that go through that phase. In fact, every creature experienced that level of moodiness at some point in their lives. I’ve even gone through that phase.”

Spike stared at Celestia in disbelief. "You have?"

Celestia merely nodded. "And so have Twilight, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, and Applejack."

"What about Pinkie?"

Celestia thought about that one, ‘Did she?'

“What’s going on?” A voice moaned. Celestia and Spike looked over and saw Twilight, wearing long purple PJ pants, a pink tank top, and a pink sweater. Her eyes widened upon seeing her teacher. “Princess Celestia?!?! Wh-what are you doing here? The library’s a mess! I’m a mess!”

“Twilight, calm down.”

“Okay.” Twilight stopped, but continued sweating.

“Can I talk with you in your room?”

“Uh, sure!”

Twilight guided Celestia to her room. It was neatly organized, as always, but the one thing that was out of place was the fact that it was littered with used tissues. Celestia was careful to watch her step. "I'm sorry about the mess, I planned to clean it up, but I fell asleep."

"It's fine Twilight." Celestia coaxed, "In the state you're in, I wouldn't have bothered."

“Wait, how did you know? I never sent a letter to you after I got yours.”

“You didn’t, but Spike did. He was pretty upset when he wrote it.”

“I would imagine. Do you think I did the right thing grounding him?”

“Well, perhaps a bit of discipline was needed, but don’t be too harsh on him.”

“I-I feel so stupid! I should’ve seen it, he’s at that age. If I had only-”

“Twilight, you didn’t know. How could you?”

“But I should have known! There are all these books in here and I’m sure there’s one on puberty that I have read before.”

“Twilight…” Celestia placed her hand on Twilight’s shoulder.

Twilight looked back at her, fresh tears streaking down her cheeks. Celestia pulled Twilight into a hug, pulling the girl close, Twilight began to cry. Celestia did her best to keep her composure, but was failing miserably. Soon, she began crying, too. “Oh Twilight, I’m sorry.”

Spike had heard the crying and peeked into the room. He saw that the two were crying and hugging and thought it best if he left, but as he was- “Spike?”

Spike turned to see Twilight, now standing up, a warm smile on her face. “We need to talk about something.”

Spike walked over to Twilight. “Listen,” he started to say, “I’m sorry for what happened yesterday. I didn’t mean to-”

Twilight pulled Spike into a hug, surprising the young dragon. "Spike, I'm the one who should be sorry, I acted prematurely, if I had just talked to you and not yelled at you, we might not have had this. Will you forgive me?"

"If you forgive me."

“Deal.”

Celestia smiled knowing that she had accomplished what she had come to do.
