She Doesn't Deserve It

Chapter 2

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Forgot to mention in my first chapter that I'm too lazy to do the whole country voice with Apple Bloom and Applejack. Also, the characters are twelve years old, so the abuse from Scootaloo's dad has been going on for a pretty long time.

Scootaloo’s eyes opened. She felt an aching pain in her left wing, but couldn’t move to check it; she ached everywhere! She took a look around the room, and noticed this wasn’t her bedroom, but the living room floor.

What am I doing here? She thought to herself.

Surely she must have been up in her bedroom, asleep. Her eyes widened in realisation. Last night had been the worst beating from her father, and she had no idea how she would explain this to her friends. How bad did she look?

Scootaloo lifted herself up slowly, feeling pain where the bruises had risen. She took a quick look at her legs and noticed almost every inch of her legs were covered in rising bruises and she knew she looked bad, even if she couldn’t see herself yet. She hobbled towards the bathroom wincing in pain as she came to look at herself in the mirror. What she saw was a shock.

She had a large lump on her chest where she had been hit, and had a large purple bruise covering it. She had one black eye and on the left, but that wasn’t the main thing that caught her eye. Her wing where her father had stepped on it was bent slightly downwards, meaning that it was indeed broken. Panic overcame her; she needed to go to the hospital!

She was about to rush out of the house when she immediately stopped herself. How could she explain this to her friends? They would know something was wrong, but she needed to do something about it. Deciding she would take her chances she snuck out the door and into the unpopulated street.

Knowing it was best she stuck to the shadows, making sure nopony could find her in the alleyways of Ponyville. The worst she would find would be homeless ponies begging for money, and maybe a few stray cats.

She reached the much safer area of Ponyville, and saw a lot of ponies roaming the streets probably heading towards work or school. After all, it was Friday.

Making sure that nopony could find her in the streets she made a break for it, and ran towards an alleyway on the other side of the open street. She made it into the other alleyway but lost her footing and fell forwards, letting out a small squeak. She heaved a huge sigh and pulled herself up, she was about to take off again, but something stopped her.

“Scootaloo?!” a voice gasped, it was a voice of one of her classmates.

She froze and turned her head to see Rumble running forwards in shock “what the hay happened?!” He looked at her bent wing and the bruises coating her body.

“I had a really bad scooter accident” she lied, but Rumble didn’t look convinced.

“Scootaloo, I’m not a featherbrain” Rumble looked her over “you’re way too good to have a scooter accident this bad” Scootaloo let out a sigh, and sat herself on the floor, head hung low.

“Care to tell me what really happened?” she felt a wing around her back, she flinched and moved away.

Scootaloo decided to be slightly honest with him “I had a fight” she answered “got beat up pretty bad” she chuckled “please don’t tell anyone; I don’t want them knowing I lost!”

Rumble laughed “sure” he gave her a smile “let’s just get you to the hospital” he helped Scootaloo up and helped her towards the hospital, without slinking in the shadows, but of course this did draw a lot of attention.

“Squirt, what happened?!” she recognised the voice of Rainbow Dash.

Scootaloo gave her idol a smile “I was practicing a few tricks on my scooter and I may have had a pretty bad tumble” she lied once again, but Rainbow Dash looked convinced unlike Rumble had.

“Good on you” Rainbow Dash praised “you can’t get good without having a few accidents!” she eyed Scootaloo’s wing “but that broken wing sure looks bad” Scootaloo nodded.

“Hurts pretty bad” she admitted “but I’m used to it” they carried on towards the hospital, and as soon as the doctors saw her they took her straight in to look over her wing.

The doctors had told her it was broken – like she hadn’t already guessed – and told her she needed to stay at the hospital to let it heal for a few nights. Then they had said they needed to contact her father… Now that scared Scootaloo, but she knew her dad wouldn’t do anything in public.

She told the doctors her home number, and let them call her father. It’s not like he wouldn’t have found out about her trip to the hospital anyway, and he’d be even more mad if she hadn’t have told him about it.

Rainbow Dash had stayed with her the entire time, while Rumble left to go to school. She thanked him before he left, and decided to just chat with Rainbow Dash about the Wonderbolt’s and her scooter tricks… Even making up a story about how she hurt herself on her scooter.

“Scootaloo, your fathers here” a nurse called into the room, and Scootaloo’s eyes widened, and she looked at her father as he walked into the room with his icy cold gaze.

“Hey, Scoot” her father gave her a warm smile.

Scootaloo was shocked; he was a pretty good actor if he could act like nothing had happened the other night, and actually look genuinely concerned.

“Hi, dad” she replied warily.

“Hey, my name’s Rainbow Dash” Rainbow Dash spoke up “you must be Scoot’s father. What’s your name?”

“My name’s Sharp Gaze” he replied “if you don’t mind, could I have a word with my daughter alone?” he asked.

Rainbow Dash nodded and left the room, but not without giving Scootaloo a warm smile.

Scootaloo’s father’s gaze suddenly became angry and cold like usual “what did you say to them?” he growled quietly, and held his hoof down on Scootaloo’s arm, hurting her slightly.

“I didn’t say anything about last night!” she answered in a panicky tone “I just said I had an accident on my scooter, promise!” she tried to hold back tears from the pain, knowing her father would just press down harder for the enjoyment of doing it.

“Good” He gave a menacing smile, still pressing down on her arm “you know what would happen if you told them the truth?” he moved her face closer to hers, intimidating her.

“You’d r-ri-rip my wings off my back” she replied shakily.

“Exactly” he gave a sick smile “and we wouldn’t want that happening, would we?” he cooed with a patronising voice.

“No…” she looked away, imagining the feeling of her wings being pulled from her back, and the agonising pain.

He lifted his hoof from her leg “good little sparrow” he stood up and left the room “I have to go now” he told the nurse, and Rainbow Dash re-entered the room with three unlikely visitors.

Standing behind her were Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle and Rumble. She gave them a weak smile, but noticed something off by Rumble. He looked rather scared about something, and she had a horrible feeling about it.

Had he seen what my father had done in here?
