//-------------------------------------------------------// Enlightenment -by boochy1997- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1 Enlighten stared at his desk. He wasn’t quite sure what to think at the moment in time. "So, if I change the symbol on the far left, it should be able to teleport you. That won’t fix the fact that it wouldn't know where to teleport you at the moment the spell is activated." Enlighten thought. It was another day in school. Not like much good even happened. Enlighten was sitting at his desk along with all of the other students, trying to ignore what was going on. Another group discussion on a simple math question was going on. Not that anyone the group cared that he was even there. What Enlighten was currently thinking of was how to fix a spell he was working on. He had always found making spells and getting them to work easy; he had created plenty before. “Ok get back into your normal positions, it’s almost time for recess.” Cheerily said. That had completely snapped Enlighten back into reality. He moved his desk out of the group and back into the normal spot, the far back, left corner. That was perfect for him. Out of everyone's sight. “Now can you tell me what the answer was.” asked Cheerily happy as always, which just got annoying. “Apple Bloom, what did your group get?” “Well we got that X should equal forty six.” Apple Bloom answered. She was trying to figure the thing out the whole time with no luck. "Then maybe you shoulda saw that it there was an X on both sides." Enlighten thought. It was another question where there were two lines in between the equation. Then there was the answer. Not like Enlighten could ever remember anything's name. Not ponies, not objects, not even types of math equations. He remembered numbers easier than names which just breaks what's known about ponies in science. “And then we got thirty one.” Apple Bloom said. “Good try, but you have to remember that when there's is an x on both sides to check the answer first.” Cheerily advised. “How about the next one? Enlighten?” “Uhh… X equals seven or nineteen.” Enlighten said nervously. The teacher never called on him. AT ALL! Why would she do it now? It completely caught Enlighten off guard. “Correct.” Cheerily said. Everyone in the group just stared at Enlighten. He just put his head down and thought about how to fix the spell he’s working on. Still, why did creating spells have to be his talent? He’s able to make spells where he doesn’t even have to use his horn as well. Still, why that? It only gets him into trouble. His parents hate him using any of them. They say that they are too dangerous. How can they be? He created them himself. He knows what they do. Yet, they don’t trust them. The spell he was currently working on should be able to teleport anypony to any desired location where he or she set a waypoint to. Sure that pony would have to go there first, but that is the only way to get it to work. Besides, going to an area first didn’t seem too bad. He was snapped out of his train of thought when the class had ended. “That’s it for math today.” Cheerily said. “You may all go outside for recess now.” "Well. that ended that." Enlighten thought. He put his notes away, leaving the papers he was using for his newest spell on the desk, completely forgetting about them. He left the room, and then the building. Recess wasn’t one of his favorite things. Not many ponies were friends with him. In fact, none of them even knew him. Right when Enlighten was outside, he ran into Diamond Tiara. “Well, hello.” She said. “I believe I told you before, I don’t know you.” Enlighten responded with. He was hoping that would get her off his back. Even for ten seconds would be nice. “Yeah, you know who I am. We see each other every day in school.” Diamond said. Silver Spoon came walking over. She was looking for diamond. Of course when Silver saw Enlighten there was a chance for her. “Diamond what’s taking you so long. Oh it’s you. Why are you around him? He doesn’t even have a cutie mark yet.” Silver said. “Yeah I know. How doesn’t he? I see him writing these weird things during class all the time. Whatever, lets go before he does something weird again!" Truth was, he did have one. He was just able to make a spell that can hide it with an illusion. He didn’t want anypony else knowing he could make spells, though the spell didn’t hide the cutie mark. No, that would take a lot of work, more than Enlighten could do. This spell only hid the cutie mark. Put something over it until Enlighten wanted to show his talent to others. Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon were walking off by now. “Blank flank.” They both teased in unison. After they had said that, they were laughing as if they had achieved something. The Cutie Mark Crusaders were off in the distance watching. “Why are they so mean?” She said looking at the other Crusaders. “One of the great mysteries of life I guess.” Scootaloo replied. “What I want to know is how Enlighten doesn’t have his cutie mark yet.” “Yeah, great question Scootaloo.” Sweetie Belle said kind of nervously. She had actually seen Enlighten do one of his spells before. Enlighten made her swear to never talk about it. “You ok Sweetie Bell?” Apple Bloom asked. It was obvious. Sweetie didn’t respond at first. “Yeah why?” She ended up saying after a few seconds. “Alright then.” Apple bloom said after finally getting her answer. Enlighten was in a back corner of school grounds. He was working on a spell he was stuck on for two years. A spell that should change pony kind for years at the least. Everything always goes back to how it was anyways. This spell was the most complicated one yet. There was just something he was missing though. Something that wouldn’t allow him to finish the spell until he had that one thing. Just one thing. “Hello.” Enlighten was startled. Not like he was getting anywhere. He looked up only to see the CMC right there in front of him. ‘No!’ He thought. ‘I am not in the mood after what Diamond did. Go away!!’ He hid his anger and as calm as he could responded. “Yes?” “Is something wrong?” Sweetie Belle asked. “No, why?” Enlighten responded. His anger was obvious, and that wasn’t good. One simple thing and ponies just freak out on him. Why? Not as if he knew why. “HEY! We are just trying to be nice!” Scootaloo said. “Yeah, what’s your problem?” Apple Bloom agreed. “Nothing. Nothing is my problem.” This same thing was getting annoying. “Well it sure seems like you have one.” Scootaloo had said, her irritation growing. “If it’s Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon, then just calm down. We only wanted to see if you were ok.” Enlighten just stayed quiet. It was the best thing to do at these points. They would just leave forgetting about trying to help. They wouldn’t calm down anyways. There was no use talking. “Hello!” Scootaloo yelled. “Forget it girls, let’s just leave him be.” Sweetie Bell said. They left at that point. Enlighten just sat there. Thinking about why ponies always got angry at him. That is always why he tried to just leave them be. There was just no use in socializing. There was just no use in anything. Recess ended, thank Celestia herself, and everypony walked back inside for social studies. The actual learning was ok. Nothing wrong with it. It was just the students that made him hate school so much. “Ok class, today we are moving on to learn about how the capital of Equestria, Canterlot was founded.” Cheerily had said in that same tone she always used. Jeez, did she have a script or something? “It started with dark magic flooding the woods around the old castle.” Cheerily started. "Yeah this is all nonsense." Enlighten started thinking. "Negative energy started flooding the Everfree forest. Most likely left over from all of the stupid things going on one thousand years ago. That caused a misbalance in the forest making things go out of whack. That’s all there is to it. Just negative energy being released into the universe. Does nopony understand this?" “After all of this happened, Celestia started looking for a new place for a castle.” Cheerily continued going on. “She was told about a free spot on the hill and decided to go there. Being close by, it was a good point to make things quick." "Many ponies helped build the castle and couldn’t go back home during the time it was happening. These ponies decided to make homes around the area where the castle was. That led to other ponies wanting a spot near that castle as well.” "No duh. The fact that they were near the princess meant they could go to her and give them their problems. They had more say in the government than ponies farther away." “Because these plots were so high in demand, only the rich could get a house close to the castle.” Cheerily had said. "Well that explains everything!" Enlighten had thought. He was not a fan of the rich. “This led to Canterlot becoming more refined. Which is why it is this way today.” Enlighten had been taking notes the entire time. He was one of the ponies with higher grades. Of course when most ponies have barely any B’s and you could pull of a A- without even trying, you know you got to keep that up. Not like he studied though. The notes were just for participation grades. The school day had ended and he walked on home by himself, avoiding as many ponies as he could. By the time he got home he went straight upstairs to his room. He didn’t have any homework, so he would just read a book or continue a spell or something. His mother stopped him before he could enter his room, though. “So, how was your day?” She said hoping this time would be different. “Fine.” Enlighten replied. “You’re not just saying that again are you?” Enlightens mother said. “No, I’m not.” “Are you sure? I need to know if anyone is bullying you. That can’t just happen.” His mother pressed. “It’s fine.” Enlighten thought to himself, "It's not like you do anything about it anyways...". She actually never did. Well nothing ever gets done, things happen, they just get Enlighten into trouble. “Well alright then.” His mother said before going back down stairs. Enlighten entered his room. Finally alone, he thought of what to do. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2 Enlighten was looking through the books that he had in his room. Nothing seemed interesting at that time. All he could really think about was the spell he worked so hard on for two years with no luck. Nothing seemed to come together. He had been missing just something. Something that needed to be there. Something needed to come into his head. Why was he thinking about this now? The spell was bugging him for a while. Like there was some kind of sign that it would all come together if he had just focused on the one tiny thing. Still, a spell to turn any pony into an alicorn? How was that supposed to happen? It was just some dream that he had after he heard about how princesses cadenza had became one. Later princess twilight did the same thing. They both ascended into being an alicorn. It’s what it sounded like anyways. ‘Maybe if I just find one last book in Twilights library, I will finally be able to get this out of my head.’ Enlighten thought. It had to work. Just to get this annoying thought out. He gathered the books Enlighten had gotten the last time he went there. After putting them in the cutie mark bag, which had his cutie mark on it, Enlighten headed straight downstairs. “Mom, I’m going to the library. Be back later.” Enlighten shouted to his mom right before he went right out the door. “If only you would let me respond first.” Dream Maker said. Enlightens mother just sat in the living room thinking about her son. “When will you realize that others do care about you?” Enlighten was running at full speed toward the Twilights library. On the way there, he was thinking about another spell he was working on. This one he was calling the Wings of Wind. A spell that allowed the user to set a waypoint at any location they are at. Later that pony would be able to teleport back to there at any given point in time. The only problem, he couldn’t get it to figure out where to teleport you. Everything else worked fine. Then there’s that. The spell was focused on a symbol that you would place right underneath you with your manna. The circle would react to any point in space you think about. Getting that point to move with the ground in was on, easy. Getting the spell to know to bring you somewhere else, simple enough. At Least, when you're not trying to use certain symbols on the circle that is. Symbols that meant go to. If that were all easy, then why that one thing? ‘Maybe it’s the fact that I am using a simple mark. Maybe I need to remake the thing to have the area you want to go to be marked with a whole different circle.’ Enlighten was thinking. Its seemed to work. He just wasn’t for sure. Once he got to the library, he open the door and stepped right in. Apparently Twilight was in the other room. Spike was in the main room cleaning and rearranging books. “That’s good.” Enlighten said under his breath. He wasn’t really comfortable with a princess being near him. That high of authority just didn’t seem that great around Enlighten. “What is?” Spike asked. The colt just ignored him and put the books he had on the table that was left in the middle on the room. ‘Why does everypony always listen in when I’m talking under my breath. Don't they realize that only causes trouble.’ Enlighten thought as he looked for different ones that can hopefully answer his question for once. “You didn’t answer you know.” Spike said as he got down and looked at the books that Enlighten just put down and ignored. “Honestly, why are you always like this?” “Because if I answer it will only make you angry.” Enlighten replied. “Sorry.” Spike said trying to get the thought out of his mind. “Anything you are looking for?” “Nothing much.” Enlighten answered. “How are you always able to find those books? I can’t even figure out what section they are under.” “They’re in one sectioned off spot.” Enlighten pointed to the one spot off in a corner where everything about the type of magic he uses is. “I just can’t figure out how you can levitate them the way you do.” Spike rolled his eyes and went back to work. “Sorry personal.” Enlighten said going back to looking for the one book he needs. Twilight walked into the room with curiosity on her face. “What’s going on in here?” She said looking right at spike. “Nothing just some random pony.” Spike replied. ‘Another living thing wishing I were dead.’ Enlighten thought. Twilight look at the table then to the colt that was looking carefully at the books in the back corner. “I’ll just check those off as back in ok.” The princess said. ‘Please. Just. Leave.’ The young colt was thinking. He really didn’t like being in the same room with her. “Spike are you almost finished?” Twilight asked Spike while he was getting the M section organized. “Just about.” Spike had said climbing down the ladder he used for organizing. Enlighten had just been looking at one book he was getting a good feeling about. He didn’t know why, just.. there… was… a… good… feeling. . . “I’ll take this and go.” Enlighten said pulling the book out with his mouth. Twilight was putting the books he had brought back where they belonged. “Alright I just need to see its number.” Twilight said. “Couldn’t you jus-” Spike said before being cut off by Enlighten right when he dropped the book while he was putting it in his bags. “You can-” Spike tried again just to be cut off more. “I’m not great at magic. I haven’t exactly grown into it yet.” Twilight stepped in to try and break this up. “Don’t cut Spike off like that!” Twilight just snapped at Enlighten out of nowhere.“Also Spike I’m sure he can’t pick the spell up with his magic. He’s ten.” She had said more calmly. “The number is three seven two point five eight.” Enlighten said. “Thank you.” Twilight replied. She wrote the book down as out and went back to what she was doing beforehand. Enlighten just left the building and went back home. The colt opened the door to his home and started to go up stairs. He opened his door, then took out the book he had just gotten from the library. He opened it up to a random page and saw a six pointed star around some generic pony. Enlighten had saw this before. It was a merkaba. It wouldn’t exactly help here. He started to read the text. He did however find what he was looking for with a different spell. “Finally!” I can get the Wings of Wind spell to work!” Enlighten shouted over joyed. He had just caught himself. “Glad nopony heard that.” He said relieved. All he needed to do was just use the users merkaba in the spell to transport them to the desired location. It was so simple. He reached for the pages he should left right in his cutie mark page. “They aren't here. Where did I leave them!?” Enlighten start to freak out over the loss of these few pieces of paper. He started to look all through his bag without any luck. “If anypony finds them it’s over for me!” “Well, what do they say?” Silver Spoon had asked? “How am I supposed to know? I can’t read this nonsense. It’s not even equestrian. Also why is there this weird circle on it?” Diamond Tiara had said. “Well any ideas?” Silver had said trying to figure out how to know what it says. “I asked my dad and he said something about it being used for making a magic spell. You have any?” Diamond replied. “Why don’t we ask a unicorn then?” Sliver had responded. “How are we supposed to find one?” Diamond asked rather confused. “Twilight probably knows something.” Silver answered. ‘Oh yes we are supposed to ask a princess what a piece of paper means.” “She’s only working in her library right now.” “Fine lets go ask.” Enlighten was looking through the book. Things were getting interesting. without the Wings of Wind spell he might as well work on the other spell he had going on. All he needed was just to figure how the ascension into all three ponies works. Everything else was done. The spell was designed for the any parts of the body that would be added to be made of energy. That way it would be easier to turn back. “This could be it.” Enlighten said to himself when he read one line. “The characteristics of all three ponies come into one. The one doesn’t become all three. The pony understands the three that make up this world. They also understand what goes through their mind and how they think.” He didn’t understand the last part, but what he had was enough. ‘Maybe all I need is this.’ Enlighten thought as he started to draw a picture that could explain everything. If the three come to the pony, then maybe I just have to recreate that in whoever uses this spell.’ He thought. Enlighten was about to make history. He added the last touches to the spell and decided it was time to test it out. Enlighten looked himself in the mirror that he had in his room setting on the floor. He had it there for the spell that he makes. This time however, it would be used to see his new self. He stood there looking himself over. A white coated colt with bright weirdly colored blue eyes. He had a blond mane with looked like a perfect color. It was rare to be born with that. It also matched his manna color. A darker than usual yellow. “Here goes nothing.” He closed his eyes and casted the spell. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 3 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 3 Balls of pure light started to form around the room. The spell that Enlighten had activated seemed to be working. He was keeping his eyes closed the whole time, so the only way he could tell was by sensing the area around him. The balls of pure energy started to form around Enlighten at a fast rate. More formed in the room, only to continue this process as well. The energy forming around Enlighten turned into a sphere made out of what seemed to be light around the colt. Inside the sphere wings were forming on Enlightens body. They were transparent, colored a shade of gold, and besides that, looked exactly like regular alicorn wings. Enlighten could feel his own energy increasing. As if he was getting stronger somehow. Nothing else could be felt though. The wings, the sphere of energy, nothing. All that could be was the energy being changed. The spell ended with the sphere blasting itself around the room. then fading away. Enlighten opened his eyes. He took a look into the mirror. “It… it worked.” He said amazed. “I… I’m a….” He couldn’t even say anything straight from how shocked he was. The spell he worked so hard on for two years, was… finished. Not just that, it was able to do something no pony would even think possible. “It worked!” Enlighten said overjoyed by what he just did. “What’s going on up their?” A voice from down stairs said. The voice was his dad. “I heard a loud bang. What was it?” “Nothing!’ Enlighten responded. “No it was something!” His dad yelled back. “Tell me what it was now!” Enlighten had to think of something fast. Who knew what would happen if they figured out he created a spell that makes him an alicorn? “Something fell. I put it back. Nothing broke. Relax.” Enlighten quickly answered. “Nothing better have!” His dad said back. Enlighten went back to look at himself in the mirror. Nothing much changed. Besides the wings, he was now glowing a slight bit. The wings had a stronger glow, but that wasn’t really important. He was also already a unicorn, so nothing much there either. He moved the wings around to get a good feel with them. They didn’t really feel like energy attached to the body like he thought they would. Instead they felt like actual part of his body. Like they were always there. Since birth. The only thing left was to see if he was able to fly. “I never took listens for that.” Enlighten said to himself. “How am I supposed to figure that out. Even twilight has trouble with that.” He started thinking about a way for flying to be possible without the knowledge of it. In a matter of about five minutes, a memory came to him. There was a thing he left in the spell. Subconscious instructions to make flying natural to the user of the spell. “Alright, only one way to see if that worked.” Enlighten said calmly to himself before jumping into the air. All he did was think start flying, and his wings spread at naturally. They instantly started flapping, and holding Enlighten in the air. ‘It worked.’ Enlighten though. ‘I can’t believe everything's working!’ Immediately he thought of going outside to test this new form some more. The only problem would be making sure that nopony saw him. He had to think of something for that. “Well here we are.” Silver spoon said. “Do you think she would know something about this?” “This was your plan.” Diamond Tiara responded. “Oh right.” Sliver said back. They both stepped into Twilight’s library. Spike noticed them just as they stepped in. ‘What do they want?’ He thought. ‘Enlightens ok, but them, that’s going too far.’ “Hello.” He said trying to be nice. “What can I do for you?” “We just wanted to ask Twilight something.” Diamond Tiara answered. “Now can you please go get her?” She was acting like she was better than everypony as usual. “Right away.” Spike said. He left the room to go get Twilight. A few minutes later they both step into the room. “I don’t know what they want. They never tell me these things.” Spike said to twilight. “Well I would just be nice to know is all I’m saying.” Twilight responded. “Hello.” Twilight said to the young fillies that were in front of her. "Hi." Diamond said back. "Anything you wanted?" Twilight asked wondering why these two fillies would show up while she was busy doing paper work. There was a new law that was supposed to get passed. At least she didn't have to deal with it at this moment. "Silver, show her the papers." Diamond ordered. Silver handed three papers that seemed to be some kind of coding for magic. "We found these papers lying around. We weren't able to figure out anything about theme. Maybe you can help us?" Sliver explained to Twilight. "Maybe... I'll have to take a better look at it. The papers were.... confusing. This wasn't anything that Twilight had seen before. It looked like magic. Some kind of instructions for a spell in fact, but... She never seen this kind of magic before. "I will have to look into it more. Mind if I keep them for a while?" Twilight said. "Fine, just don't keep them for too long." Diamond answered. "Let's get out of here." Silver said. They both walked out the door. Twilight just looked at spike. "Well spike," twilight started. "Looks like we have a new type of magic on our hooves." "New type?" Spike asked confused. "I haven't seen anything like this before. It could be some kind of powerful spell." "How do you know that?" "This symbol." Twilight pointed to a symbol that looked like some kind of circle used in more powerful spells. "Whatever this is," Twilight started saying. "It's got to be good." "How do you know it’s a new kind of magic?" Spike asked. "It's met for unicorns. Yet it doesn't use a horn." The plan seemed perfect enough to go along with. First off, his parents tend to don’t care if he goes outside or not. Along as he says he is. They wouldn’t look at him. That also met he didn’t have to undo the spell for a while. Second there’s an area off in the back alleys that nopony ever goes to. Even if there is one, it would only be two or three at a time. He could see how far he can go there. For the spell part, The Everfree Forest was one, not dangerous around the parts near Ponyville, two free of other ponies. He went in there all the time, what could be the harm. “All right that seems like good enough planning.” Enlighten said to himself. “Let’s do this.” He proceeded down the stairs. “Mom, I’m going out for a while again.” Enlighten yelled over to his mother. “Be back soon it’s almost dark out.” Dream said back. Enlighten stepped out the door. Just as he predicted, nopony saw him. He spread out his wings and took to the sky. Flying actually made him feel free. Like there wasn’t anything in the world that could stop him. He was able to avoid most of the ponies so far. Most in the air. Not that anypony ever looked up. When they did, he could hide on a roof. One almost actually caught him. Of course a young alicorn at this given day in age, that just couldn’t be possible. Right now he was over the area he was planning on going to. He was just trying out flips and tricks to see if the wings actually worked. Somehow most of it seemed natural. Unless he tried something advanced like flipping. There was no way he could make a back or front flip without landing on the ground face first. No way! “Ok let’s try an aileron roll.” Enlighten said quietly. Just because it’s an empty place, doesn’t mean there’s no ponies around. The area was actually a wide open one. It doesn’t have many buildings around. It actually was just used for crossing from one area to another. Most ponies tried flying here for practice. He wouldn’t seem out of place from far away, but up close, they’d know everything just by looking at him. Enlighten charged at as much speed as he can get up to. When he felt he was fast enough, the alicorn flipped around trying to turn in mid air. His body actually started diving at an angle toward the ground. just before he hit it, Enlighten noticed the ground getting closer and tried to stop himself just before he hit the grass. He ended up crashing into it, but at a much slower speed. “All right. No more turning my back toward the ground.” Enlighten said as he got up. Two ponies could be heard coming closer to the area Enlighten was in. All the young colt did at that moment was fly into the air and get out of the field before anyone saw. “Did you see that?” Silver said to diamond as they were walking home. “Yeah that was weird.” Diamond said. “Looked like some kind of moving light.” “We shouldn’t of gotten into Enlightens stuff.” Silver said back. “You’re right on that one.” Twilight was going through some books on any kind of strange or unused magic she could find. Most of it didn’t help. “Spike!” Twilight called. “Where’s the other books I asked for five minutes ago.” “I’m getting them!” Spike called back. “They aren’t exactly easy to find. All of the other books I have memorized. These we don’t ever use.” “I know, but this spell looks like it could come in handy. I just don’t know what it does, or even why it exists.” All Twilight could figure out is that there was no horn stated in the spell. The part about it being used for unicorns was obvious, because they are mentioned over and over again. “You are really desperate to figure this thing out aren’t you?” Spike asked Twilight. “Yes I am. I looks quite well made. If anything incomplete. Maybe I can compete and use this somehow to-” Twilight Sparkle was saying before she was cut off by Spike.”Listen. You are busy with other things at the moment. You can figure this thing out another time. Celestial probably wants a reason why the law shouldn’t be passed by now.” “got it Spike.” Twilight said calming down. “What would I do without you?” “This is getting fun!” Enlighten said while he was flying through the sky. “Why I never thought of just flying around before I don’t know. Had to be easier than turning myself into a god!” He was just free flying through the air right now. The sun was starting to set and it was getting late. “Hmmm… Getting late. Still there's got to be one more thing I have to do. The magic can wait till tomorrow but.” Enlighten was saying. Just then a random cloud passed by. “AHA!” Enlighten shouted. “I ALWAYS wondered how soft those things really were.” Enlighten dashed for the cloud the was right there. No pony seemed to be in sight to it had to be clear. It felt like the softest thing in the world. All of the stories about those things being soft wasn’t a joke. Why did only Pegasus get to enjoy this!? This felt great! The sun was fully set now, and Enlighten was miles from his house. “Oh great! Better get home!” He took off straight for his house. When he got there Enlighten realized something. He had to undo the spell. “Well what was that again.” He really had to think. He hasn’t opened the door yet, because he was afraid of his parents seeing him as an alicorn. “I think it was just think it.” Enlighten tried that out and surprisingly it worked. The wings faded. Right from the tip to his body. The glow that surrounded him was also gone. “Here we go.” Enlighten softly said to himself. He knew his parents were going to be upset. He opened the door and walked in. “I’m home!” He said into the other room. “Where have you been!?” His dad shouted back. “You are supposed to be home before the sun sets! Why were you out so late?” Enlighten just didn’t answer. Staying quiet did always solve things better. “Answer the question!” “I didn’t realize the time ok.” Enlighten said very calmly. As if he was too shy to talk to people in the first place. “That doesn’t matter! Just go upstairs! You’re grounded for the rest of today.” Enlighten walked up the stairs. He stepped into his room and went to his bed. “Why do they always take things so far?” He said to himself. “It’s not like something would happen to me around here. Plus I know my way around. They always get angry at me for everything they can.” “Enlightens finally home.” Dreams husband said to her. “Well about time. Where has he been?” Dream said back "Outside wondering around.” “Doesn’t he ever just listen to us. He’s going to get himself killed.” “I noticed that. Then what would happen? Too late for him then.” “He really doesn’t do anything does he?” “No he doesn’t.” Dream just sat down in the living room. “Yes?” Her husband said. “I just worry about him.” “Well, you should.” Her husband said back “I know that. I’m going to cook dinner. Is that alright?” “I’ll do it this time.” “Fine by me.” Dream said back. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 4 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 4 Dream Maker was getting ready for bed. It was a Friday, so she wouldn’t have work in the morning. She didn’t have work on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in fact. Though the day was hard enough. Enlighten was still not saying a word about what goes on in school. He also came home late. Who knows what he was doing outside? The day was coming to an end. That’s all that mattered at the moment. ‘Finally, I can relax.’ She thought. ‘That’s exactly what I need after all of this.’ Of course that was all that seemed to be the problem. Enlighten never said a word about what goes on in his life. He’s mostly in his room closed off from the rest of the world. If he only got out more, then things would probably be better for him. “At least I won’t have to deal with that until tomorrow.” Dream said to herself as she got into bed. “True.” Her husband said. For five minutes he was waiting in the bed for her to get ready. She always showered at night which made things take longer than needed. “If he would only listen to us more.” He said. “Yes that’s true, but I don’t think that’s the problem.” Dream said back. “Then what is?” Her husband responded with. “I don’t honestly know. It seems like a thousand different things to be honest.” “He doesn’t say a word.” “I noticed. Why though? Why won’t he say a word?” “Don’t worry about it right now. Just relax and get some sleep. Dreams always help you don’t they?” “Yes they do.” Dream maker closed her eyes and tried to get some sleep. It wasn’t much help. Trying to get sleep right away was one of the hardest things she could do. “Are you ok?” Her husband asked. “Yeah fine.” Dream said back. “Maybe we should talk about something else.” “How about the fact that you completely missed the opportunity to get into the guard… how maybe years ago again?” “There was a reason.” “What was that?” “It met I wouldn’t be with you.” “That’s sweet, but that was a rare chance to become a hero.” “Woulda met not living with you right now.” “You would still be with me… just not as much. Right I get your point.” Dream turned around in bed trying to not look at her husband in the eye. “Though,” He started saying. “That was some adventure right?” “You got that right.” Dream replied. Twilight looked at the clock. Only nine O’clock. That was plenty of time. She stayed up much longer than this studying before. “Ok Spike. We were at this for two hours straight. Yet, we haven’t figured out a thing.” Twilight said to Spike. Spike was carrying a whole pile of books over to Twilight at the moment. “Well,” He said. “I don’t think one spell is very important.” Twilight, at that very moment in time, was still trying to figure out about the spell Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon brought in. Spike was just trying to keep the books out. How do you even know it’s going to work?” Spike asked, trying to get it through Twilight’s head that one random spell isn’t very important. “I thought all unicorn magic required a horn to use anyways.” “Well that one is beyond me. This one spell, however, looks exactly like it’ll work.” Twilight responded. “How do you know that?” “I took classes.” “Uhuh.” “Well it’s not like this is in books.” “Uhuh.” Just don’t drop those spike.” “Trying not t-” Right then the books actually dropped all over the floor and the table. “SPIKE! The spell is buried under this whole mess!” Twilight screamed in horror. “Well, if somebody didn’t mention not to drop the books this wouldn’t be a problem.” Spike responded. “The problem is the paper getting ruined. I couldn’t even find anything about chakras yet.” “Wait did you say something about chakras?” Spike asked. “Yeah. why?” Twilight answered. “I think I got the answer to our problem.” Spike said proudly. Thirty minutes, and Dream Maker was finally starting to get sleep. All she had to do was fall right to sleep and she could relax. Relax for a long few hours. ‘I swear this takes longer and longer each time.’ Dream thought to herself. ‘What good is having a talent to control dreams when you can’t even get sleep?’ That was her talent. Being able to control her own dreams through lucid dreaming. She also remember quite a few of them too. About ninety percent of them. It was something to look forward to at the end of the day. The “end” however took forever to get too. ‘If only I had a better talent for falling asleep.’ She thought. ‘That would fix a bunch of my problems.’ “Ok, you cleaned up the whole place. Now what did you want to show me?” Twilight asked Spike. This could get a bunch of problems fixed. Then Spike could get some sleep too. “You were looking in the wrong books.” Spike said. “Wait. WHAT!?” Twilight yelled back. “How could that of happened?” “Simple.” Spike relied. “These are the books you wanted to look at.” Spike went over to the back corner. Those were where the books that ponies didn’t pay much attention to were. They were in an area that nopony cared for. Spike looked for a specific book that Enlighten got about a year back. When he found it, he pulled it out and showed the book to Twilight. “Really? Two hours and you didn’t say a single thing about what the spell had in it?” Spike said. “Well I figured that wasn’t really important.” Twilight said back. Twilight looked into the book. The table of context showed exactly what she was looking for. “The seven chakras. Page forty seven. Thank you Spike.” “You're welcome.” Twilight turned right to that page. At the beginning it what exactly they were. Twilight didn’t know a thing about them, so this is going to be a long night. “Spike?” Twilight said. “Yes, Twilight?” Spike said back. “We're gonna be up for a while.” Twilight answered “Great.” Spike said with sarcasm. Dream found herself in a city. The city was quite busy at that moment. Cars trying to speed from place to place. Everypony wanting to get around everyone to get to a desired location. Dream however didn’t know where to go. Though she did know what to do. When she was young, Dream Maker was interested in parkour. Something she can’t really do anymore due to being thirty one. Though, in her dreams she rules. “This is gonna be fun.” She said to herself. At this moment she was in the middle of the sidewalk. All she had to do was get past everypony who were pushing past her. With a bit of effort she managed to get into an open area at an alley way. “Perfect.” She said. “Just as I needed.” What she began to do was run until she got enough speed to jump off a wall and go from one wall to another. Something she would never be able to do in real life. However here, she was able to bend reality. She started running until she got up to twenty miles per hour and jumped off the dead end wall in front of her. With a bit of effort She was able to angle herself to the next wall. She didn’t get onto it like she hoped though. Instead she had to run on the wall just to keep herself from falling. Physics still applied. Just not much. She did however jump from wall to wall without fall off. Jumping at about seven feet while running a bit each time. ‘This is starting to get fun.’ She thought. After she got high enough, Dream jumped onto the roof, then began running at the twenty miles she had before. Dream noticed something up ahead. “Oh great. A gap between the buildings.” She said to herself. Dream Maker picked up the speed to thirty miles. As fast as she could Dream jumped the gap. Dream was a pegasus which met easily fly over. However that’s not how she wanted to do it. Dream spread out her wings, so she could glide over. She was still at twenty-five miles per hour and the building was about ten yards away. She didn’t make it to the roof, however she did grab a hold of a window and managed to lift her body into the air, so she could grab a hold of the roof and carry herself up. Dream decided to rest after that. “Ok that was some of the most fun parkouring I ever had. I didn’t do that in years. Wish I could do stuff like that in real life.” She said to herself. Dream walked over to the roof of the building. She looked down and saw everyone still hard at work to try and get to a certain location. Where that was she had no clue. “Well then,” She said to herself. “These ponies don’t know what they are missing out on. Neither do I.” Twilight looked at the time again. Eleven O’clock. She still had to get through all of this stuff about a source of energy in the body she had to clue about. Apparently the spell used this energy focused at the ground under you to write the symbol on the ground. The symbol was to do the work from there. She didn’t know how to use that energy, though. That was the problem. “Spike, anything from your book?” Twilight said. Spike offered to help with a different book. Twilight said it was alright. He might as well do something to help. “Nothing.” He responded with. “Knowing the energy is there is one thing. Using it is something else altogether. This book does say the crown chakra is used a lot when a unicorn is using his or her horn.” “That won’t help. I need to use just about all of the seven to get this spell to activate correctly.”\ “Well maybe Celestia knows something.” Spike said. He just wanted to get some sleep. Giving the spell off to a princess that knows a lot more than Twilight seemed alright. “I guess that will work. I’ll just write a copy to give to her and we can get some sleep. We can focus on this tomorrow.” Twilight said. “Really?” Spike asked. “Yes really.” Twilight answered. Dream Maker woke up in the middle of the night. She was climbing a ninety foot skyscraper, then two feet from the from the top fell off. Her wings wouldn’t even work correctly at the speed she was going. “That was frightening.” She said to herself. “Ten-hundred miles per hour. I can’t even imagine what would have happened if I hit the ground. Even if that was a dream.” One thing she had learned from years of messing around in her dreams is if you get hurt in a dream, you keep that pain when you wake up. Usually you don’t get hurt unless you get hit by something in real life. Other times the pain is just there. “I need to get something to drink.” Dream said to herself. She went downstairs and poured herself some water. Trying to forget that frightening memory, she drank the whole glass in a matter of twenty three seconds. “I hope that never happens again.” She said to herself. That sort of thing happened ten times. She hated to think about it though. Dream went up stairs and tried to get some more sleep. ‘No more parkour.’ She thought. ‘Not tonight.’ //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 5 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 5 Enlighten woke up. He couldn’t remember anything from his dream. He never really did, unless there was something important to remember. He stepped out of bed putting down his left fore-leg first. “Ahh!” Enlighten screamed out of pure pain. Something about putting pressure on the leg hurt. He doubted that his parents heard anything, or that they are even awake. He put his right leg down first this time. He could fake not feeling anything in his leg for a while. That was easy. Getting through the day would be difficult though. He got out of bed trying to put as little pressure on the leg as possible. Enlighten didn’t have any plans for the day. Other than testing how powerful his spells get after turning into an alicorn. The day would go slow just like the rest. Nothing much to do other than finish some books and mess around with magic. The usual. Celestia looked at the note again. After waking up for her duty as princess of the day, she remembered that Twilight sent her some note about a spell that didn’t even include using a horn. She decided to save it for the morning. Something like that didn’t seem possible or of enough interest to wake out of bed and look it over. Still if this was possible, who knows what would happen to the pony race from this kind of magic. She didn’t. The note read as such. “Dear Celestia, I’m perfectly aware I shouldn’t be writing to you about lessons I have learned now that I am a princess myself. However, this isn’t about that. A young filly came into my library earlier today and gave me some papers about a spell that seems to not use a horn in any way shape or form. It instead relies on a pony’s spirit and energy. This isn’t something I have seen before. I also don’t know how a spell like this is to be used. Another thing to note is that the spell isn’t complete yet. At least it seems like that anyways. I figured you would know more than I do on this. I included a complete copy of the spell with this letter. (I’m lucky I know spells for that. Otherwise this spell might have faded off before Anypony could figure out the true potential of this type of magic.) Hopefully you can figure this spell out. Signed, Twilight.” “Hmm, ok let’s see what kind of magic we have here.” Celestia said to herself. She looked over the many papers that had to do with this spell. Each one seems to relate back to this symbol on the one. “A teleportation spell?” Celestia said. That was all she knew. That was all she could figure out at that moment. Anything else was beyond her. She had heard of spirits and the possibilities of them before. The actual knowledge though, that’s something she never figured out. “Who made this? He’d know something.” Celestia said. “This is something that I’d like to know about myself.” Enlighten walked down the stairs. He didn’t really do anything about breakfast on the weekends. In fact he’d skip most of his meals. “Hello, Enlighten.” His mother said behind him coming into the living room. “Hey, mom,” He said back. “What’s going on?” “Nothing much. I had a really weird dream where I fell from three hundred feet. How was yours?” “I can’t remember mine.” “Well you must remember something.” “No, I really don’t.” “Well alright.” Enlighten got up and decided to head back upstairs and get ready for the day. There was nothing to do down on the first floor anyways. When he got up stairs, he headed for the bathroom. He began to get his toothbrush out and just brush his teeth when his mother called for him. “What are you doing for breakfast?!” She said. “Nothing!” Enlighten said. “Well you have to eat something.” Dream said back. “Why is that? It’s not like I HAVE to eat three meals a day.” “It’s healthy for you. Now get down here and eat something.” “Fine, give me a second.” Celestia went to the kitchen to get herself some breakfast. Luna was in there as well. “Luna, why are you still up? Shouldn’t you have gone to bed by now?” Celestia said to her sister. “Oh. I just couldn’t fall asleep yet. I was actually getting some tea to help.” Celestia looked over to the chef. “Just a muffin. I have something to do today that’s going to take me a while. I also need to get passed the advisers to allow me some time in the Canterlot library. The chef got to work right away. “Why’s that?” Luna asked. “Just some new spell. It requires a newly discovered type of magic, and seems very interesting, despite not ever being heard of before.” Celestia responded. “Mind if I look over it? I mean I have nothing else to do while I’m awake.” Luna asked her older sister. “Sure, why not?” Celestia answered. Enlighten got his breakfast, got ready for the day, and was now making plans to get into the Everfree forest and not get caught. Being in the Everfree was the easy part. Getting in was the hard. Most ponies see a colt walk in and freak out. Others don’t seem to care or not even notice. That’s a small percentage. The only actual way in was to go through an opening just outside of ponyville. He just had to get there. Enlighten was currently in his room thinking over how it could possibly be done. He did it million times before; he just couldn’t get caught today without anypony figuring out his new spell. Not like anypony knew he could make spells. The simplest answer was to just use the alicorn transformation spell and fly over to the forest. Seemed like it could work. Maybe his illusion spell that he uses to hide his cutie mark could help. Just in case someone saw him. A glowing spot in the sky that moves seems a little out of place. The plan should work. The only problem was being in the air. That’s why he didn’t want to do it. Only thing Enlighten could think of though. “Alright,” He said to himself. “let’s do it.” “Let me get this straight,” Luna said. She was trying to get the fact that a teleportation spell such as this could even be done. “it’s a spell that can teleport you to anywhere possible, as long as you have set a waypoint to there.” “From anywhere as well.” Celestia responded. “Seems a bit out there, but the spell would work if it was completed.” “Well you know more about this than I do.” Luna said to her sister. Luna was currently looking at the papers that had the spell on them. Celestia had said that the papers were there to figure out a precise way to actually do the spell. Any spell maker used papers and scrolls to help chart down their spells. It was a way to remember them later, and if they had made a mistake, fix it. This was beyond her. Luna wasn’t one for making or studying magic. “You said Twilight has the originals right?” Luna asked Celestia. “Correct. The actual papers that the spell is written on are with Twilight. She is trying to figure out a way to finish the spell.” Celestia answered. “It seems like one of those spells that can go horribly wrong if done incorrectly, though. If she gets one thing wrong it could be the end of Equestria. Twilight better know what she’s doing.” Luna said. That caught Celestia’s attention in a matter of seconds. The pure fact that anything could go wrong with a spell, that didn’t seem like a spell that should be toyed with. The exact thing that they are doing. “Who showed her this?” Luna asked. “A young filly. That’s all I know.” Celestia responded. What were they doing? “Well that sounds great.” Luna said. She just sighed and continued to look at the papers again. “Sister, how did you know that this spell could do something horribly wrong?” Celestia asked. “The symbol. It is usable enough, but if a single thing is changed or won’t match it, it’s over.” Luna answered. “How do you know that?” “I used enough of these spells before. Anything can happen.” Enlighten was walking down the stairs. “Mom, I’m going out!” He yelled. “Alright! Be back soon!” Dream said back. “Got it!” All he had to do is find some spot to use the spell. The thing takes two or three seconds to actually work. Nothing too major, it was just easily spotable. Maybe he could pass it off as messing with illusion spells if anypony saw. However, that would just create a chain of events that he didn’t want to happen. Enlighten opened the door and walked out. Nothing left to do besides hide somewhere and use the spell. He started thinking of a spot while walking around. He was going to the field he was in yesterday. There had to be something around there. Twilight was looking at the spell again. There was a bunch of stuff to this spell she had never known before. The problem was figuring it all out then using that knowledge to finish the spell. That’s what she wanted to finish the spell and see what it does. She just didn’t know how. There could be any way to do this. “Are you still on that?” Spiked asked while he was walking into the room. “Well there’s got to be some way to figure this out.” Twilight said. “Twilight, this spell is beyond us.” Spike said. “I don’t mean you aren’t smart enough to figure it out, I mean this just isn’t something you aren’t used to. You just figured out about chakras yesterday and still don’t know what exactly they are for. You only know about so many types of magic, and this relies on some kind of spirit type of magic we never even heard of. You just can’t do this kind of thing yet. Wait for what Celestia says and maybe we can figure it out with her help.” “EXCUSE ME!” Twilight yelled directly at Spike. “I think I can figure this out with a little more time. I not only found the elements, more than once, but used them to defeat multiple types of evil. Yet, I didn’t know anything about them.” “You knew about that type of magic.” Spike said. “You’re over reacting and letting curiosity get the best of you. You just need to relax.” “Ok fine.” Twilight said. “Hmmmm… No one’s here. The sky’s completely clear. That’s strange. Usually one or two ponies are around here. Where is everyone?” Enlighten said to himself. He couldn’t quite figure out what was going on. Nopony was around. It’s an empty field. He should be able to see somepony around. “Well no use being out in the open. This spell can probably be seen from a mile away.” Enlighten said. He got behind a rock and casted the alicorn transformation spell. This time Enlighten left his eyes open. Big mistake. The thing nearly blinded him with a bright light source so close to his eyes. Normally he isn’t affected by lights shining in his eyes. This however was a bit too powerful. After the spell was casted he felt the same power increase and the wings show up. This is definitely something he should use more often. Enlighten took off into the sky and went straight for the opening he thought of earlier today. At that point he can get to a spot in the forest he uses for testing spells he couldn’t just use in his room. He goes there a lot. Not many monsters and nopony actually looks there. It only took about seven to ten minutes to get there. Things are a lot easier to get to by sky rather than land. The only problem was that Enlighten saw the Cutie Mark Crusaders RIGHT THERE! The odds are unbelievably slim for this to happen. Life just loved to mess with him. ‘Maybe I can figure out a way around.’ Enlighten thought. The only reasonable thing to do was sneak around anyways. ‘Know what, they won’t even notice anyways. I’m just running for it.’ That thing always worked. Nopony cared what he did anyways. There are advantages for that. Enlighten ran for the opening into the forest. Nopony would care anyways. Nopony ever did care. “Hey is that Enlighten going into the Everfree forest?” Sweetie Belle asked. “What is he doing?” “Who cares about him? He does weird stuff all the time anyways.” Scootalo said. “He could get himself killed Scootalo.” Sweetie Belle said. “Yeah we should go check it out.” Apple bloom said to the rest of the team.” “Alright let’s go into the forest that will eat us alive.” Scootalo said. “Better idea than anything else we can come up with.” Apple Bloom said. Enlighten looked around the forest. He isn’t used to going in from that spot. He knew where to go, he just couldn’t figure out where the exact path was. The last thing you wanted was to end up on the wrong path in the Everfree. Why was it even called that, Everfree. Kinda seemed a bit out there. It sounds good, until you figure out that it is untouched by pony magic, and anything will devour you alive. Maybe it has to do with the free roaming magic. This was definitely a spot to practice spells because of it. After about fifteen minutes he got onto the right path straight towards the opening. Thing about being in the Everfree was he always got this weird feeling that something was watching him. Some demonic force. That could easily be passed off. There was no evil thing around that he could sense. If anything it wanted to HELP him. “Finally I’m here.” He said. The opening was pretty basic. Just a normal forest opening in the middle of the woods. He did have a crystal grid set up to keep out any bad energy. That was something you didn’t want to mix with your own magic. All he had to do now was go through a set of spells to see if there is any improvement with his magic. The first was the first spell he made. It was just to test things out. A basic fireball spell. It can, however, be used to turn set your hoof on fire. Besides basic survival the spell had no purpose. The flaming hoof part was a glitch. The fire would form around your hoof if you move it faster than the fire. The spell can’t harm the user, so it instead forms around him or her, giving the illusion of being on fire. There really isn’t even a point to using that. “Guess I’ll try it.” Enlighten said. He pointed the hoof right in front of him. Most of his spells required that he focuses his energy through his hooves. Others can be focus in the area around him. Such as the spell he was working on for warping, or even the alicorn transformation spell. He focused his energy and fired the spell right at the ground. Nothing seemed to change besides the spell was easier to cast and the fire was bigger than usual. That’s something. The fire went away with a simple thought. No need to burn the forest down. He then decided to use the glitch. See how that worked. Enlighten once again fired the spell in the general direction of forward. It didn’t matter where he fired it anyways. He then put his hoof forward and the fire formed around it. The fire gave him a sense of power. Energy just filled his leg as he punched the air in front of him. It was actually great. He has never felt that kind of energy before. He decided to try it on one of the trees. The only thing was he had to make sure it didn’t get burned. He didn’t want to harm the forest, just have it help. Enlighten did the same thing. This time he hit the tree and a wide area caught on fire. Immediately he put it out with the same thought he had just used. The fire was able to be put out quickly for safety reasons. The spells he made weren’t dangerous in any way shape or form. He still didn’t even know why he wasn't allowed to make spells. It’s the only thing he has to do all day. His parents always get upset at him making them. Every time they say it’s dangerous, that he shouldn’t mess around with magic. He knows what he’s doing. Why can’t they ever trust him?! It doesn’t make sense!! Why do they hate him so much?!?!? Every time, every day, they constantly complain about everything he does wrong. They nitpicked every little thing. They don’t even care about the stuff he does right. If he gets all good grades in school with ONE fifty, they only care about the fifty. If he gets one thing wrong with a chore, and everything else is done perfectly, they constantly complain about the one thing wrong and never let it go. That would be fine if they actually cared about him. The thing is they don’t! His dad constantly has the tone in his voice, like he can’t even stand his existence. Nothing about him. Every time his dad even looks at Enlighten, he always just stairs like Enlighten shouldn’t even be around him! SHOULDN’T EVEN BE HIS SON!!! “I bet he wishes I wasn’t!” Enlighten yelled to himself. “Everything about me he hates! Not once did he even care! If I’m about to die, he wouldn’t care. All he would care about is me not bothering him about it! Many times I had something wrong with me, and he only wanted me to shut up about it! WHAT IS WRONG WITH HIM!!!!!!! What’s wrong with me? Why does he hate me so much? I don’t get it. That’s the one thing I could never figure out! Why does everyone hate me?” “Did anypony hear that?” Sweetie Belle asked. “Yeah came from over there.” Scootalo said. The CMC was looking through the woods for Enlighten. “I’m going to go check it out.” Sweetie bell said. “Are you sure that’s a good idea?” Apple Bloom asked. “I’ll be fine.” Sweetie said. She walked over to where heard the sound coming from. Enlighten was deciding over the next spell to use. The only one he could think of was a spell he had created for the castle guard. He couldn’t even think of anything else. His memory was kind of bad. The guard didn’t even look at it. Then again Enlighten should've known that beforehand. It was a spell that creates a sword from pure energy. All you had to do was focus your energy through your hoof and toward the ground. The rest was too complicated for him to understand. All he knew was that it worked. Enlighten casted the spell right after thinking about it. The ground started to ripple like water. The sword came right out of the middle of the ripple. It was on its side. The sword was sort of like his wings. The difference was that the sword was a brighter color and more transparent. The color almost matched his mane. There wasn’t anything to the sword though. It can shatter at any moment. That’s only to get rid of it, though. Besides that there isn’t any way to destroy it that Enlighten can figure out. The sword didn’t seem to be any better as an alicorn. It was however easier to pick it up. Of course Enlighten didn’t use the levitation spell that most ponies used, unless he had to. He didn’t exactly grow into his magic yet. The spell he did use worked a lot better anyways. Enlighten was practicing swinging the sword around. He didn’t know any actual way to wield a sword. Still holding one and using it was kind of fun. Enlighten didn’t get too far into that when he heard something coming up to him. “I know you're there.” He said. “Just tell me where you are.” Unlike most ponies that didn’t bother to learn, Enlighten can sense life forms. That means being able to tell a pony from anything else. Just like most of his spells, this was easier as an alicorn. “Well, I get to see you using your spells again in the same spot.” ‘SWEETIE!?’ Enlighten thought. “This is the second time. How did you know I was here?” He said to the filly. “I was wondering how you managed to get wings.” She said. “Oh that. That’s nothing.” “Doesn’t seem like it.” “You wouldn’t even believe me anyways.” “You’re holding a clear transparent sword in your own magic, without using your horn. Nice touch on not having an aura around it.” “Thank you.” “Well, going to tell me?” “Ok, fine. I made a spell that can turn anypony into an alicorn.” “How did you do that?” “Long, hard work, a lot of research, and two years of getting it right.” “Nice!” “Want me to show you?” “I think I’m fine. Though, you can show yourself flying.” Enlighten didn’t think much of it. He just lifted himself into the air with his wing and instantly was flying. “Nice! Now what were you yelling about?” Sweetie Belle asked. “Wait you heard that?” Enlighten said. “Not much.” Sweetie answered. “Nothing.” Enlighten said “Just nothing.” “Why are you always like that?” Sweetie asked. “What?” Enlighten asked her. “You always keep to yourself. You don’t even let anypony else talk to you, or offer help.” “Like anypony would help.” “See you're still doing it. Enlighten just stayed quite. Sweetie didn’t hear anything from him for a few minutes. ‘Why is she even asking this? Why does she care?’ Enlighten asked. ‘Why would anypony care anyways? There’s no reason to. There’s no reason for her to ask these things. Nothing!’ Enlighten went on in his mind and didn’t talk. “Fine, don’t answer.” Sweetie said. “Listen, I won’t tell anyone about the spell. I got to go. Want to come with?” “I’m fine.” Enlighten said. “Come on, it’ll be fine.” Sweetie said. “I’m fine.” Enlighten said. “Just come with.” Sweetie left the area, and Enlighten followed behind. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 6 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 6 Enlighten looked at Sweetie. He couldn’t figure out anything to say. She heard everything that he was yelling about. That was only supposed to be heard by him. If anypony figured out that he thought these things, he couldn’t think about it. Something was blocking the thoughts out. “Are you ok?” Sweetie asked. “You’ve been limping the whole way.” “Yeah I’m fine.” Enlighten replied. “You expect me to believe that lie? I can tell you are trying to keep everything inside, but it doesn’t work with me. I can tell when a pony is lying like that.” “How are you able to do that?” “Oh, this alicorn spell isn’t anything much, oh you don’t have to worry about me yelling. It is kinda obvious.” “Trust me, there is nothing wrong.” “Sit down, I need to check something.” Enlighten stopped and sat on the ground. He didn’t know why Sweetie Bella wanted him to, but arguing would just create issues. Sweetie was checking his fore-legs. She knew exactly what was going on. “Ok, can you tell me if this hurts at all?” She hit the left leg, the exact one that was in pain to begin with, with as much force as possible. “AAHHHHH!!” The colt screeched in pain. “What was that for!?” He started yelling at Sweetie. “Yeah, you might want to get that leg checked.” “How exactly am I going to do that?” “Tell your parents.” “They wouldn’t care.” “Why wouldn’t your parents care that your leg is injured?” “I don’t know. They just wouldn’t.” “Well, if you don’t, that could end up coming back to haunt you. “We should continue finding the others.” “Wait, you brought everyone else with?” “Yeah, why?” “That’s what I was afraid of. They hate my existence.” “Well, if you just talked to them for once, they wouldn’t be so rude. Come on let’s just go.” Twilight was already planning the trip back to canterlot. The spell would have to wait for another day. “Are you ready to go already? That was kinda quick.” Spike said to Twilight. “I can’t settle down. Something about that spell keeps throwing me off.” Twilight said. She went off into thought about what could make her so…. worried about one spell. Something must have not been right about it. “Well we will have to go this afternoon. Celestia said to wait before coming.” Spike was saying. He was sure that they would be going at noon, right after lunch, but after sending the note, Celestia sent back, fifteen minutes later, to wait. “Well, guess we will be stuck here for a while. It’s still ten o’clock. Any ideas about what we should do?” Twilight asked. She wanted to go to Canterlot to distract her from the spell. Something could be done there, and she still had a lot of work to do regardless. “I got nothing.” Spike said. “Maybe organize the library. It’s a complete mess after what was going on all night.” “Right, let’s get to work right away.” Twilight said cheerfully. Finally, something to do. Celestia still couldn’t figure it out. There were barely any books about this in her personal collection, and Luna didn’t know either. Luna just knew what the spells purpose was. She could only read so much. “What should I do?” Celestia asked. No one was in the room at the moment. She was in a back room that she barely ever used, anymore. Not a single pony could know of this magic, yet. “If I had some kind of specialist to help me with this.” Celestia was saying to herself. “I hope my plan to have Twilight run into the creator will work.” Last second plans most of the time never work. This had a slim chance, but could possibly work. If it didn’t, then may some force higher than herself have mercy on all of Equestria! That was the danger of this uncompleted spell. That is why she was worried. Enlighten was still walking beside the filly that managed to not only find him, but see through all of his tricks. They also had no clue where everyone else was. “You know, your cutie mark is showing, right?” Sweetie Bell said. Enlighten stopped and looked at his cutie mark. For some reason, it was there. “Let me fix that real fast. I think I forgot the illusion spell.” Enlighten responded. He tried to cast the spell, but for some reason, it wouldn’t work. “Ok, let me try that again.” Enlighten said getting frustrated. The second attempt didn’t work either. Enlighten sighed and tested the spell on a tree that was next to the group of young ponies. The spell was working fine that time. It is the cutie mark that can’t be hidden. “Never mind,” Enlighten said giving up. “It won’t work.” “I think it has something to do with that alicorn spell you are using.” The filly said. “Why do you think that?” The colt responded with. That couldn’t even be possible. Could it? Something about a spell throwing another one off. It could be the problem, but the chances are so slim. “It worked on the cutie mark before, and it works just fine now. The only time it doesn’t work is when you are alicorn. Any other time, and it’s just fine.” “Ok, let me try turning back.” Enlighten turned back into his normal form. The cutie mark faded away with the wings and soft glow. ‘Weird, the spell is working fine now.’ Enlighten thought. A simple spell was blocking out his other one. How was that possible? “How did you know that would work?” Enlighten asked Sweetie. “I just took out all other possibilities. It worked with everything else, and when you weren’t in that form. It had to do with being an alicorn.” “I think I hear the other two up ahead.” The colt said. Both of the young ponies walked slowly towards the noise they were hearing. The two ponies they were looking for, Apple Bloom and Scootaloo, were just about ten feet away. “Ok, I know my way out.” Enlighten said looking back. “I think I will just head out and-” He was cut off by Sweetie Bell right away. “You came all the way here. Can’t you just come with us back to Ponyville?” Sweetie seemed to almost be whining. That didn’t work on Enlighten. Those cheap tricks were easy to get around. “Are you crazy? If they find out I’m here they wi-” Once again, Enlighten was cut off by yet another pony. This time Scootaloo. “Hey, there you two are. Where have you two been?” “We were going around, looking for you two.” Sweetie answered. Enlighten just stayed quiet. One word and this whole thing can just end up in disaster. “What were you doing in here anyways, Enlighten?” Scootaloo ask. “Yeah. Don’t you know it’s dangerous just looking at this place?” Apple Bloom said. “I was just…” Enlighten started to answer. If he told the truth, he would end up dead. He needed some kind of lie. He just couldn’t come up with one. “He was just going on a walk. Nothing special.” Sweetie answered for Enlighten. “And the yelling?” Scootaloo asked. “That’s why I was out here. I can’t be at my house. No one wants me around.” Enlighten said. It wasn’t an entire lie. That was good enough. “Can we just get outa here?” Apple Bloom interrupted. Being in here any longer was going to drive her insane. “Yeah, let’s go.” Enlighten said. After showing the way for about ten to twenty minutes, Enlighten really needs a watch, they were out of the forest completely unharmed. “Thank you for showing us how to get out, but how often are you in there?” Apple Bloom said. “Three times a week.” Enlighten answered. “WHAT!?” Every one of the cutie mark crusaders yelled at once. “You actually do that?” Sweetie asked. “Yeah, why?” Enlighten asked. “You shouldn’t be in there at all.” Scootaloo said. “You went in there.” Enlighten said back. “To get you out of there! Why are you in such a dangerous place!?” Scootaloo started yelling at that point. Enlighten ran off. No point being in that conversation if it’s going to get like that. “Where are you going!? GET BACK HERE!” Scootaloo was yelling towards Enlighten. ‘Just keep going’ Enlighten though. ‘Just keep on going.’ //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 7 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 7 After a while of running Enlighten sat down to catch his breath. ‘How long has it been?’ He began thinking to himself. ‘I should probably head back home before it gets too late.’ Enlighten began to search through his bag to see if he forgot anything. After a bit of searching it appeared he was perfectly fine. Though, he still had books to return to the library. ‘Oh right, I don’t need those anymore. I already got the spell down, so.’ Enlighten thought to himself. He closed his bag, and then put it back over himself. With that he was off. A bit of walking later Enlighten got to the library. Right outside the door, he began to dig through his bag to get the books out, and return them. After taking them out, he opened the door to discover. . . The place is a wreck? Twilight stopped what she was doing after hearing someone come through the door. “Um sorry,” She began to say. “just busing working on this project of mine.” Enlighten walked up to Twilight, and handed her the books. “It’s fine.” He said. “Do you need any help cleaning up?” Twilight shook her head, and then looked to the door as if trying to tell Enlighten to leave without saying anything to avoid looking worse than she already is. Enlighten caught a glimpse of his spell that was stolen out of the corner of his eye. “That’s where my papers have been?” He said mistakingly out loud. Twilight looked back to Enlighten. “That’s yours?” Enlighten froze up for a second, and then responded. “Wings of Wind. It’s a teleportation spell I was working on.” “How does it work?” Twilight asked. Enlighten looked down, and answered. “Well, a pony can use their own magic to set a waypoint at any location they are currently at, and then later on detect it to teleport back to that location from any distance. Granted, you have had to been at that location before to get there again through this spell.” “Do you mind showing me?” “It’s not finished yet.” “Oh.” Twilight thanked Enlighten for informing her about the spell, and let him take the paper and leave. Spike just stared at her confused. “How are you sure that he was the one who made the spell?” Spike asked. Twilight looked at Spike finally relaxed. “I don’t. I just wanted to get it out of my hooves, so I’m not worrying about it.” She said. Enlighten returned home, walked upstairs, and realized his room is a mess. After looking at the horrible mess he had he began to clean it all up. Five minutes in his dad walked in. “Enlighten, clean up your ro- Oh.” Enlighten’s dad started to yell at his son before realising he had already began the chore before being told to. “I am cleaning it.” Enlighten’s dad just stared at him and said “Good.” then walked away. Enlighten thought to himself while continuing. ‘What is his issue with me?’ After finishing Enlighten took the paper out of his bag. “Well, time to get started on this again.” He said. Author's Note Will continue on this chapter later. I need to think of an idea on how Enlighten will actually finish the spell sense he's been stuck on it for a while.
