The Fall of A Knight
The Origins
Previous ChapterTwilight had brought the diary and the forbidden books back to Ponyville with her, knowing fully well that the only reason that she was allowed to do it was because that Celestia trusted her. A trust she was slightly betraying.
It is for the best interests of Ponykind. Twilight reminded herself, walking into her home. Spike was out buying more groceries, and Owlicious was asleep. She went over to her desk, unloaded her books and carefully pulled out the diary.
Inside the front cover was a painting of the old Knight. He wore armor similar to the ones Thestrals wore, but it was edged with red instead of purple and covered all of his body, as well as being a lot bulkier. He wore an amulet similar to the Alicorn Amulet on him neck, and his eyes were like Chrystalis’, but red instead of green. His hair was kind of long, and was black with a grey stripe running through the middle of it. Kinda like Daring Do’s.
Flipping through the book revealed that Ritter’s writing was atrocious in the first third, extremely neat the second and then frantic scrawling the last. Sighing, she flipped back to the first page and began to read.
Dear Journal,
The Princess asked me to write a diary so I could have someone to tell my secrets to without worrying.
Sounds stupid, but she is my friend and I’ll take her word for it. Being the only Human that can wield magic and will speak to the ponies is hard.
The Unicorns view Humans as either experiments, lower creatures or mere animals to study. Earth Ponies mostly ignore Humanity, preferring to think that they don’t exist, but then again they do it to everything.
Pegasi...they are currently rebuilding Cloudsdale after the Wendigoes charged everywhere and destroyed everything. After the Princesses chased off the Wendigoes, the Unicorns and Earth Ponies easily cleaned up everything, considering their abodes were made mostly out of stone and rocks. Meanwhile the Pegasi had to rebuild everything, because making cities out of clouds were a lot harder than making them out of stone apparently.
Anyway, right now Humanity is living in a town that I helped found near Cloudsdale. It is doing alright, and right now I am the mayor of the town. It is a little annoying having to deal with politics, but it is worth it if it benefits Humanity.
Right now Princess Luna is teaching me how to control magic. I could get Celestia to teach me instead, but she is often too busy with helping rebuild and found the new country of Equestria. Plus all the ponies seem to dislike the night, and Luna is often lonely. Getting only three or four hours of sleep is worth it if it makes a lonely mare happy.
The loneliness cure is working both ways too. My girlfriend was also pulled through the dimensions, which I was both happy and sad about. She made sure I was happy while I had to deal with the stresses of helping a Human culture rebuild itself from the ground-up. On top of this I had to make sure that Humanity wouldn’t be killed by Gryphons or Ponies or any monsters.
But three weeks after Humanity appeared on Equestria, she and several others were killed by a group of ponies that believed that Humanity were demons and were going to kill them all. I snapped and killed dozens of them before Luna calmed me down and the rest of the group was put on trial and were executed or imprisoned for life.
After her death, I became close to Luna. Speaking of whom, she is calling me right now to continue my lessons.
Good night.
Twilight set the diary down and looked outside, and was shocked to see that it was now night. She hid the book in a secret hidey-hole that she created for powerful artifacts that had to be hidden from anypony’s eyes. Her Human assistant, Libra, had made dinner for her and Spike, which the two quickly devoured.
“Delicious as always, Libra.” Twilight told the Human, who blushed and nodded. Being mute, Libra simply pointed to Twilight’s bed to tell her mistress it was time for bed. Libra then picked up the plates and started washing them while Spike and Twilight headed to bed.
Twilight looked at Libra one last time before going to sleep, thinking about how Sir Ritter looked and comparing it to Libra. They have the same olive skin, and Libra has black hair, but other than that they were not similar at all.
With these thoughts, Twilight fell asleep with dreams of Humanity plaguing her head.
