//-------------------------------------------------------// Tales of The Riftwalker called I -by nightshadus- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue -Prologue- Once upon a time, in a universe very similar to ours there lived a boy. This boy and this universe were every special and destined to link many more together by a single thread. In the universe there was a planet called Earth. It was on this planet where both this story and the boy with no voice begin… The boy was born into a large family. His family lived and worked on their apple orchard called Zap Bloom orchard. It got its name from the boy’s great-great grandfather Zap Seedon. This boy and his family lived in a world where war and technology had stumbled upon a mysterious energy. With this energy, they learned how to live with nature. It allowed them to grow trees as tall as skyscrapers and shape them into homes and buildings. Thus, they called this energy Life Energy. However, they also found another energy. This energy they used to power machines at first. Both energies could power machines but the second energy was far more powerful. The people tried to use it to make buildings, but it failed worse than they could have imagined. It killed and withered the trees until they began to change and shift. The energy turned them into living dead trees that ran rampant killing people and destroying cities. The energy spread like wildfire; darkening and poisoning all it touched. Thus, it was named Death Energy. The humans fought a long war to finally seal the energy back into the hole it had come from. They named this hole the Pit of Tarturus; for no one knew how deep it was. In truth, the hole reached to the core of the planet where the two energies had once been trapped. With the power of the Life Energy, they sealed it back into the pit, and there was once again peace across the land. It was in this peace that the boy was born into. He was a strange and unique child, born with abnormally large amounts of Life Energy coursing through him. However, the strangest was that when he was born his cries were not loud or shrieking but harmonic like a song. As he grew, it was discovered he had no ability to talk at all. One day while watching, his parents pick apples and tend to the trees the boy began to sing. Only four years old at the time, he did not sing in words but in tunes, a sound like a melodic angle. As he sang, the trees began to move, to sway as if dancing. The smallest and sickliest of the newborn saplings lay in front of the boy. The sapling had been stricken with disease from the start. It had simple, as the boy’s parents put it, gotten a bad lot in life. As the child sang though the sapling began to grow. As he sang louder, his parents realized his true gift. For as he sang the once doomed to die sapling grew and grew until it was taller than a four story house and wider than a barn. They learned that their son could control Life Energy around him with song. This was new and baffled the doctors and scientists. They had always used machines to pour Life Energy into something or collect the Life Energy from the air. However, the boy could do that and much more with only his songs. It was also during his 4th year of life that the person he would love and protect more than all others would enter his story. His sister. Luna. As the years went by the boy learned to communicate with others through song. He also learned to wake and put to sleep the apple trees. He would spend many hours picking and singing to the trees. This pleased the trees and they produced the sweetest apples on the planet. So the boy sang all day and loved it. He would sing to his sister to put her to bed or calm her from a nightmare. Then in the night, when the rest of his family was deep in there sweet dreams conjured from his singing, he would walk through the orchard singing the trees to sleep until he got to his and Luna’s favorite apple tree. The tree he had grown from his first song. The boy would climb into the branches of the tree and sing both the tree and himself to sleep. And all was peaceful. Until the day that would mark the end of one being to be replaced by another. The day that would haunt the boy for the rest of his life. The day that he lost his name.
