Twilight Sparkle and her assistant Spike have grown quite close to each other, even more so after Twilight introduces the idea of being more intimate with one another to the baby dragon. But that intimacy is threatened when Spike receives an exhilarating private gift from Rarity for his birthday. Tensions rise between Rarity and Twilight in terms of who has more privilege and who would be better suited for him. Poor Spike finds himself caught in one point of a vicious love triangle, with the mare he's loved for so long finally opening herself to him, and the mare he's lived with all his life.
