Earth ponies also referred to as earth children, rock ponies, or insultingly, mud ponies are among the strongest and one of the longest-lived equines to exist, having lived from 25,000 B.B. to the present day.
They help build most of the powerful kingdoms of the old. Even the places in the Equestrian Land were built by these creatures for the most part.
The earth ponies were happy under the rule of King Vulgaranis, but the new leaders after “The War of the Mighty” began treating them as underdogs, calling them “mud ponies” and had them do rigorous work over many years.
Some groups grew tired and furious under the leaders and fled to other lands seeking revenge. They couldn’t rebel against the leaders of the time for the magics were powerful, and would take the life of an earth pony who tried to rebel against them. They formed tribes that learned “forbidden magics” that quickly made them horrifyingly powerful.
They’re capable of wielding powerful natural magic such as Geomancy, Necromancy, Hydromancy, Druid Magic, etc.
Geomancers
The Geomancers were a tribe of earth ponies that possessed a forbidden magic, making them masters of the forces of the soil, rock, and sand. They could bend and had claim to foresee the future using the earth. Their powers would fluctuate based on the zodiac signs and the geometric figures.
Necromancers
The Necromancers was a tribe of earth ponies who learned magic that made the user able to communicate with the deceased, either by summoning their spirit, or raising them bodily, for purpose of divination, imparting means to discover hidden knowledge or to unveil a certain past.
They were able to use the deceased as warriors to consume or kill their enemies. Most say that they were hostile folk, and that only a few were welcoming. Some would have only let you into their own homes just to try out their wicked magic. Others traveled about places and tried their evil on pioneers for sport.
They took out their evil leaders with the help of the other tribes, but after some time few were consumed by greed and madness and wanted to control the entire world. They ruled for nearly two hundred years before Princess Celestia and Princess Luna combined their powers and defeated the evil necromancers, also stealing their dark book in the process, and hid it in “Canterlot Castle” so that it may not fall into the wrong hands.
Druids
The Druids were a tribe of friendly earth ponies that were able to bend the world’s elements to the every will. There were a friendly folk and loved to share their knowledge with anyone that came to learn of it. That unfortunately led to the combination of Druid Magic and Necromancy producing “Dark Magic” which the Geomancers did not like.
The magics and studies were well versed in all elements but came at a price. The had seven special magic powers called “Cursed Rites” which allowed the user to perform magic of alicorn status but in exchange for a body part. The seventh most say was the most powerful because it was in exchange for the users life.
When they received word of the creation of Dark Magic, they wanted complete genocide of all Druid Magic users which lead to “The Battle of the Cursed Olympians” which later lead to the creation of “The Everfree Forest”
Their terrible magic that was used for good intent only made great disasters and horrifying monsters such as the timberwolves, golems, Jack o’ Lanterns, and others.
The earth ponies had other variants such as the Crystal ponies, Gorgons, Giants, Nagas, Lamias, and Cyclops.
Crystal Ponies
The crystal ponies go back to the first group of earth ponies that followed King Emeraldalis and Queen Sapphira who were transformed into alicorns upon acquiring much knowledge on creating crystals and even turning their own selves into “crystal ponies”.
The vibrancy of their coats work strongly on emotion. The happier they were, the more vibrant they appeared to be. And well the opposite only made them appear duller than everypony else.
They didn’t have any offensive magic powers, but had the power and skill in creating crystals. With their powers of love combined, it creates a shield around the empire that repels all darkness or chaos bringers from it.
After “The War of the Mighty” the castle grew weak and was vulnerable to all source of attacks. The crystal ponies went through a quite a time until Prince Rub Adonis came and took control of the Empire moving it overseas to another land which is now present day Equestria.
They can also handle harsh weather patterns more better than other ponies or equines for that matter. Along with knowing how to create and multiply crystals, they’re able to make themselves like the crystals in that they need not get affected by cold weather patterns whatsoever but with all its pros, it has its cons.
If they were to stay in a blizzard long enough, they would actually be imprisoned to the ice they were so called ‘not affected’ by. They would get a different effect for each weather pattern if were to stay for a long period.
These “crystal ponies” still live to the present day...
Gorgons
The gorgons are also a variant of earth ponies who are extremely strong and have the ability to turn a living thing into stone. They were known as notorious for turning an alicorn to stone.
They are very beautiful which bewitched most of the stallions that traveled by. It is said that there beauty is almost irresistible. But when the victim looks into their eyes they were immediately petrified by the cursed magic in their eyes.
They usually travel with their eyes closed. They have the capability to sense vibrations for long distances, even within caves. It so accurate that few have been able to get within fifty feet of range.
They are capable of using their immense strength to smash stones into complete rubble. A few were able to break through great walls of iron with ease.
Their venom is extremely lethal. It puts their victims to death within seconds because of the speed the venom travels through victims body, sometimes on contact. It’s so powerful some victims were seen with their flesh either sagged, peeled off, or on the floor as though its skin was tired of being on the body.
It was written that this bread of earth pony was from a certain earth pony who loved playing with snakes. She adored their smooth and scaly texture, and just loved having snakes slither around her. But one day she was unfortunately unlucky with a peculiar snake which gave her quite the bite. The bite transformed her lower body into the end of a snake.
When her transformation was complete, her upper body was the only thing that stayed the same. However, her hair was filled with the heads of snakes. Her eyes was like that of a serpent, and around it was a scaly texture of skin, which had covered nearly half her face. Her tongue was also that of a snake.
