//-------------------------------------------------------// Reign (Part 1) -by OnePlusy- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Odyssey 1 //-------------------------------------------------------// Odyssey 1 As any September night, it was cold, quiet, and still. The leaves blew and the crickets chirped, but it was still…frozen and silent. However in the distance, a deer drank from a pond and ate some grass. All seemed peaceful in the Everfree Forest. The moon was at its highest peak and it shined brighter than ever. Birds flew overhead watching ahead of them as they flew there course. A stick cracked. The deer looked up, as anypony would guess, THAT disrupted the peace. Even the cricket stopped chirping. Another stick cracked. The deer ran away. A shadow appeared from the trees and brush. Coincidentally, the shadowy figure came out of the moonlight and looked around to see…..Nothing. He walked back to the dirt road where he was originally, heading north. He sighed, looking at the path that lied before him and started walking once more. He thought to himself, “What does this world have to offer me? I’ve given all of my trust, dreams, and hopes to her. Heck, I’d take death right now. I don’t think anypony would care anyways.” He walked a little further, and then in his thought about committing suicide, he could hear the sound of flapping wings. The pegasi hovered above him and came out of air and landed in front of him. She lifted her head and the stallion instantly found her familiar. Her eyes were full of sorrow, guilt, and tyranny. The stallion frowned and quickly grew angry. "Please, Clyde let me explain!" she asked hastily, as the stallion grew even angrier. "What could you possibly tell me to make me forgive you?" Clyde yelled at the sad mare. "Do I need to sell my soul as well or do I...." "It's not what it seems, Clyde. I was just doing what I was told to do. Please just listen!" she interrupted his sentence and was on the verge of crying. "I've had just about enough of bein' told what to do. You’re just....." Clyde paused to come up with something clever. "A puppet is what you are. You let them all pull your strings." "If you calm down, I'll tell you what happened." the mare tried to reason with Clyde "There's nothing to say! You almost let them kill me! Get out of my way!" Clyde yelled even louder, storming past her with a head of steam. Now the mare, with no other options, used her hoof to pull out a pendant she was wearing. It was a silver chain with a circular shape at its base with an emblem in the center that was symbolic to the influence of Chaos. She closed her eyes. "You leave me no choice, brother..." she whispered under her breathe. The necklace started to glow with an unearthly darkness. It started to get Clyde's attention, but he stayed stationary and didn't move a muscle. The necklace continued to glow. Finally the mare chanted to her necklace and to Clyde: "From all of the darkness that knows your name, stop all your insolence and become restrained!" The ground beneath Clyde deteriorated and swallowed him whole and left him defenseless. "RRRRRRGGGGHHHH!!!! Let me go, Vast! You fuckin’ traitor!" "You left me no choice!" Vast yelled at him in anger and anguish. "You didn't want to listen now I'm going to have to MAKE you." She lifted her hoof and the necklace started to glow again. “Now be still!" She stomped her hoof on the ground. Her necklace burst with light. "MMMMHHHPPPP!" Clyde couldn't move anything, but his eyes. "Sorry, but I need to explain myself" Vast walked up to him and sat. Clyde rolled his eyes. "I had a talk with father the other day." THIS got Clyde's attention. "He told me that he loved us both and that he'd was going away for a while. I told him that I would look after you just as you looked after me over the years after mother died. So I came up with an elaborate scheme to get you to...change. I wanted you to look toward the light, and wish upon a star. I..." Vast went on and had to pause to keep herself from crying. “I just wanted to see you smile again. I love you, Clyde. I don't want to lose you like we lost Mezz." Vast gave her brother a kiss on the cheek. "Well..." She said as she got up and backed away. “This is where you and I depart. If you want to see me again you know where I'll be." Vast extended her wings and looked up at the moon. Then she closed her eyes and took to the skies. She flapped her wings and started flying south. “Release." She chanted as she left. Clyde was once again freed from being restrained. Clyde knew it was too late to run after her, him being a unicorn of course. "Hmm..." He wondered to himself. “Us? Serving the light? How would I….We confront Celestia with everything we have done anyways?” He asked to himself.” I can understand your reason Vast. You tried to make it better and I just…..completely ignored you”. Clyde thought to himself, revisiting his mistakes. “I'll make it better, sis... that's a promise!" He said aloud. He looked at the dirt road that lay before him and started walking. “First things first…” "Clyde, he's waiting for us. Hurry the hell up!" Vast was on the tips of her hooves rushing Clyde. "Leave me be. I'm getting ready." Clyde responded then drank some water. "O-Kay. I'm ready." Clyde said nervously. Both of them walked out of the room together down a hallway leading up to a rather large door. Standing next to the door was an alicorn with a dark cloak. He was wearing a crown that symbolized corruption and anarchy. Clyde and Vast walked together at the same pace and rhythm, staying very close to one another. "Don't be worried, brother. You've nothing' to fear." Vast said trying to get his confidence up. “I-I'm not worried." Clyde exclaimed in a wavering voice. "I am not sure if you are lying. Just be yourself." Vast returned smartly. "I told you that I was ready and I meant it." Clyde reassured himself. They both approached the large shadowy figure and bowed. He smiled and looked at Clyde. The two siblings rose from the ground. He leaned in at Clyde. "Are we ready, Clyde?" He said with a voice that could make Gods tremble in fear. "Yes, you’re Majesty." Clyde responded to the large figure. "Good." He turned around and put his hoof on the door. "You’re gonna need to be more than ready." He pushed the door open. Vast gulped
