[This story takes place after the S3 finale and before S4]
When Twilight became an alicorn, she didn't expect to gain an addiction to shiny items. At first this strange habit was subtle so she hardly paid it any attention, but when it grows to the point where it interferes with her royal princess duties and her own personal life, Twilight takes action, believing she can solve the problem on her own. When that fails and the addiction's strength starts rapidly growing, she runs to her friends and fellow princesses for help and advice, and when no pony seems able to help her, the young alicorn must seek out the help of somepony she never thought she'd see again.
