//-------------------------------------------------------// Hallucinations -by PinkamenaPie- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1: Dream? Or Not //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1: Dream? Or Not "Hahahahaha...." A menacing voice boomed off the walls, causing the party pony to shudder. "W-Who's there.....?" Pinkie replied hesitately, her legs trembling under her body as she sat in the corner of the empty room. The voice just laughed again. It made Pinkie tremble even harder. "...You know who I am Pinkamena Diane Pie...." It giggled, it was telling the truth though, she did know who it was, she just didn't want to admit it. The thing that caused torture to her friends and to herself. The thing that caused chaos and madness in Equestria. Sweat beads rolled down Pinkie's head, she wrapped her arms around her legs. Why wouldn't it just go away? Should she tell it to? Or should she wait until it got bored and left? It needed to leave, NOW. Pinkie needed to go back to work. And her head felt like it was about to burst. It laughed deviously. "...I'm Discord..." He breathed onto her neck. "...Remember the last time we 'played' Pinkie?" Pinkie was furious, but she was too scared to scream at him. A few strands of her mane were pulled up, Discord was twirling them in his claws. Pinkie moved away, her body was trembling. Was this a dream? No, it couldn't be. This was all too real. She went to grab the doorknob but a scaly claw grabbed it. The master of chaos was now standing in front of her. Her body was shaking so hard, Discord could see it, he just giggled at her. 'Somebody, PLEASE, knock on the door or SOMETHING!' Pinkie thought to herself. Then, without warning. "GET AWAY FROM ME, YOU BASTARD!!" Pinkie covered her mouth the moment she said it. Discord laughed frantically at her scream. "Oh, Pinkie! You are HILARIOUS!" Discord fell from laughing so much. Pinkie took this moment to sneak towards the door. Her hand grabbed the doorknob and turned. Right when Discord got back up, Pinkie shut and locked the door behind her. Pinkie sighed, she then sat against the door and rubbed her head, ruffling her fingers through her mane. Slowly, she got up and walked down the stairs to go see Twilight at her tree. When she arrived, Twilight was surprised to hear a knock on the door. She wasn't as surprised to see Pinkie at the door, but more surprised to not see her smiling. Pinkie's hair was down and flat again, she looked tired and depressed. "Pinkie are you ok-" "I need to ask you something." Pinkie interrupted Twilight and brushed past her to the library where she was looking through books and throwing them down. Twilight did her best to catch every single one before it hit the ground. "Pinkie, what did you want to ask?" "Do you know anything about hallucinations?" Said Pinkie, throwing down 'Mysterious Curses and Hexes', and picking another up. "I'll look into it," Twilight said calmly, then added,"But, I'm sure it's not in Magical Fairytales For The Young." Pinkie looked at the cover of the book she was holding, then blushed before throwing it to the ground. After a few hours, Twilight and Pinkie finally found: Halluciations of The Insane Twilight flipped through the pages and read up on hallucinations: A hallucination is a perception in the absence of apparent stimulus which has qualities of real perception. Hallucinations are vivid, substantial, and located in external objective space. They are distinguished from the related phenomena of dreaming, which does not involve wakefulness; illusion, which involves distorted or misinterpreted real perception; imagery, which does not mimic real perception and is under voluntary control; and pseudohallucination, which does not mimic real perception, but is not under voluntary control. Hallucinations also differ from "delusional perceptions", in which a correctly sensed and interpreted stimulus (i.e. a real perception) is given some additional (and typically bizarre) significance. Hallucinations can occur in any sensory modality — visual, auditory, olfactory, gustatory, tactile, proprioceptive, equilibrioceptive, nociceptive, thermoceptive and chronoceptive. A mild form of hallucination is known as a disturbance, and can occur in any of the senses above. These may be things like seeing movement in peripheral vision, or hearing faint noises and/or voices. Auditory hallucinations are very common in paranoid schizophrenia. They may be benevolent (telling the patient good things about themselves) or malicious, cursing the patient etc. Auditory hallucinations of the malicious type are frequently heard like people talking about the patient behind their back. Like auditory hallucinations, the source of their visual counterpart can also be behind the patient's back. Their visual counterpart is the feeling of being looked-stared at, usually with malicious intent. Frequently, auditory hallucinations and their visual counterpart are experienced by the patient together. Hypnagogic hallucinations and hypnopompic hallucinations are considered normal phenomena. Hypnagogic hallucinations can occur as one is falling asleep and hypnopompic hallucinations occur when one is waking up. Hallucinations can be associated with drug use (particularly deliriants), sleep deprivation, psychosis, neurological disorders, and delirium tremens. Pinkie nodded at the information, but with a confused face. "But, I'm not insane, OR sleep deprived!" Twilight was confused and asked Pinkie what she meant. Pinkie explained. "I've been having these images of Discord, he keeps creeping me out in a stalker sort of way, and I just can't get away from him! He's always, THERE!" She said pointing to the wall. Pinkie didn't see a wall, she saw a huge, chaotic monster that stared down at her maliciously. Twilight looked to where she pointed, but looked back at Pinkie with a confused frown. She saw the fear in Pinkie's eyes and knew something. Knew she saw a hallucination of Discord. "Pinkie, are you sure you're not sleep deprived, or ANYTHING of the sort?" Pinkie was surprised, did her friend not believe her? Did Twilight believe she was insane? "Pinkie, I think I should take you home...." A soft, but creepy giggle erupted from Twilight. She dragged Pinkie into a carriage which was pulled by two stallions. What was this? This couldn't be real, could it? They soon arrived at a grey, metal building, they hopped out of the carriage. Two men with white suits and creepy smiles walked towards them, Twilight pushed Pinkie into the mens arms and waved at Pinkie. The pink pony then heard a different voice erupt from Twilight, it was a guy's voice. "See you soon." The men laughed sadisticly, opening and slamming the heavy doors as they walked in using their horns. "No! Let go of Me! NO! LET GO!" Pinkie screamed, squirming in the men's hold, they just laughed harder. "LET GO!!! NOO!!" "Miss Pie!" A distant voice echoed, Pinkie couldn't hear it though, her screams made it disappear. "MISS PIE!!" The mare scrwamed again, this time Pinkie noticed it. Surrounding her were padded walls, she sat up and looked at the nurse. The nurse looked at her shockingly, as if she had just seen a ghost. The nurse held what looked like a sedative, the nurse slowly walked toward Pinkie then flinched when Pinkie started talking. "Where am I? A-And who are yo-you?" She stuttered, she was very frightened. The nurse looked down at her, the fear driven out of her, and answered. "You're in Canterlot's Asylum For The Insane, and I'm your nurse, N-Nurse RedHeart," Pinkie looked down at the sedative as if questioning it. "This is just a little medicine, it'll help you sleep. Now, if you'll jus-" "NO! Get that thing AWAY from ME!!" She tried to kick at the nurse to back her away as she walked towards her. "I don't want to sleep! I DON'T!" The nurse called for some doctors to hold her down as she forcefully punctured Pinkie's skin as it injected the toxins. One of the men grabbed a strait jacket and securely tied her in it. Pinkie screamed at them as they left that she wasn't insane, she wasn't! As they bolted the door, the room suddenly got darker. She felt her eyelids drooping over her eyes. Pinkie slowly grew more tired, her eyes started to sting as if she barely slept. Her limbs grew numb as her body grew weaker from the sedative started to finally sink in. Pinkie was now able to close her eyes and sleep a nice, dreamless, sleep.
