An Alicorn Tale
Intro
Load Full Story“How to start… A long time ago, before Luna became Nightmare moon and was banished. Before discord was imprisoned in stone, the three elder spirits lived in harmony. More so than that, they were friends. With them was another however one they were proud to call friend, myself. Melodic Symphony. I was a musician of sorts. Able to create music worthy of the highest of courts with but a flap of my wings. That was my talent, that was my cutie mark. But not everything stays peaceful. Let me tell you about how I was banished… Because of a trick I didn’t commit and about how Discord, became who he was. This story takes place the day before it happened.”
My name is Melodic Symphony. I’m an alicorn and my ability brings bliss to all those around me. Every step I take releases a symphony of cellos and violins, when I take to the skies and enjoy the wind under my wings, they give the hollow echo of flutes and harps. The harmony these created has had me called a prodigious musician more than once, much to the chagrin of those who do not possess my ability.
I stand as a friend beside the two princesses, hopefully soon to be queens, Luna and Celestia. Though I choose to call them by nicknames, as friends should be able to do so right? So I call them Lulu and Celly. Accordingly. There is another, of course. Discord, the spirit of Chaos. He calls himself that, though he’s never done anything truly chaotic. It’s always been pranks, or jokes. Nothing harmful and always in good fun. The four of us, Lulu, Celly and Discord, along with myself are all immortal. Not all are lucky enough to be born as such, but the four of us had known each other for a long time. We planned for our friendship to last much longer even then. Eternity was a long time, no better way to spend it than with some friends who would live it with you.
The day before it happened started in the usual way. Teachers and social etiquette lessons. Teaching us to speak in the royal canterlot voice. I say us, but really the lessons were for Lulu and Celly. I just accompanied them. I always found it fun to learn what they did and they appreciated the company. The four of us spent a lot of time together until the customary setting of the sun happened.
We spoke for a few minutes about nothing in particular when he suddenly feigned interest on a subject. Asking me to accompany him into the hedge maze. I did so, curious at my friends request. He led me deep into the maze where we found a simple gardener pony. The servant had been trapped inside the hedge maze, the entrances hidden from sight by discords magic. The poor man had gone stir crazy, running this way and that in a panic, trying to escape even as my elevated position showed me there was no exit.
Discord simply laughed at the pony. I tried moving closer in an attempt to help, but discord appears next to the pony, saying a few words which I was unable to hear, discord touched the poor stallion and I watched the color drain from him. Suddenly it seemed like his personality had done a full circle. Seeing this sick version of Discords fun, I backed away. Even as he erupted into laughter. I turned and ran, a cacophony of cellos and violins riding my tail all the way through the field. But I realized the noise was not mine. At least not entirely. Looking behind me I saw instruments floating through the air. A familiar aura circling them.
I knew my magic was not the cause of such terrible noise. But I continued to run, my mind carrying me to where I was before, attempting to find the princesses and warn them of what had happened. It was too late however. They had seen the glow carrying the instruments and had issued my arrest. I was dragged to the dungeon unceremoniously. The metallic doors seemed to seal my fate as the echo rang out. The cacophony of sound leaking in through the barred window as I sat, defeated. Eventually the sound fated, but no one came to see me, it was as though I was already abandoned.
the next day I was brought before the princesses to appeal my case. but it was as though they weren’t themselves. All our time together meant nothing as they banished me to a faraway planet. Deeming me an exile and taking all the power I once held. Even going so far as to remove my magic, not all of it. But enough that I couldn’t come back immediately. My banishment wasn’t faced alone however. This new world was one that had been used previously. Even now inhabited.
It took over a thousand years. My magic had been drained so fully that it was much longer then expected to prepare myself for my return. But when I was able to, I opened the portal to equestria. Saying goodbye to my new found friends among the colony I stepped through. Ready to face the music of the princesses once more. Hoping they saw discord for what he really was. Hoping that I could finally clear my name and be welcomed back into the world of equestria. Soon they will see me once more. Will hear my music again. Perhaps for the last time.
