"Wings, please, if you value my sanity, stop talking about the Elements of Harmony!" Sky Flash complained angrily.
"I thought you liked me telling you stories," Blue Wings said, sounding hurt.
"I do. But not when they're the same every single time." Sky said impatiently. She stood, stretching. "I'll just go home now. Thanks for inviting me though. 'Preciate it, Blue." Sky left. Things had been rocky between the two friends for a while now, but they had always managed to push through, and stay best pals. It seemed like it wouldn't stay like that anymore.
Sky wandered through the city of clouds until she ran into Rainbow Dash.
Hey Rainbow," Sky Flash said as the blue mare fell into step beside her.
Rainbow Dash blushed lightly, then replied, "Hi, Sky Flash, what's up?"
Sky scowled. "Blue Wings is retelling Element of Harmony stories. No offense to your adventures, but she tells them all the time."
Dash laughed. "No problem. You wanna go down to a Ponyville club?"
Sky double-taked. "Whoa, you serious?"
Rainbow snickered. "As Pinkie Pie."
Sky smiled. Even in Cloudsdale the party pony's identity was well known.
"That's pretty serious, Dash."
Sky pretended to ponder for a moment.
She grinned widely at her friend. "You got it, Rainbow!"
Bass pounded, music blared, ponies shouted. It was noisy, crowded and smelled of alcohol. Sky loved it. She danced with Rainbow after they drank for ten minutes. Life wasn't stressed, Sky forgot about Blue, and she had fun. "Hey, uh, Sky?" Rainbow asked, tugging her friend over to a booth. "I need to talk to you."
"Awww, c'mon, Dash," Sky complained. "Can't it wait?" Still, she followed obediently and sat down near her friend.
Rainbow Dash shook her head. "Sky, I uh, I'm kinda in love with you..."
No other words could sober the white pegasus like those. "Serious, Dash?"
Dash blushed and nodded.
"Well," Sky said, rubbing her neck. "You're sure it ain't the alcohol?"
"Dead sure."
Sky coughed slightly. Rainbow Dash blushed a dark red. Finally, Rainbow spoke. "So, do you--"
"I-I dunno, I really never thought about love before." Sky stammered.
Rainbow sat next to the mare and pressed against her. "Would you like me to teach you?" she whispered, peering into the other pony's amethyst eyes. Sky shivered. Rainbow took that as a not sure, so she leaned forward, placing part of herself on Sky's lap. She kissed Sky gently. Sky pushed her off. "Rainbow," she said softly, "even if I don't think about my love-life that much, I'm not into mares." Rainbow ignored this, pinning her friend down again, kissing harder. Sky shivered again, hooves hovering uncertainly before again pushing the other mare away. "No, Dash." She said angrily. "I'm not into mares."
Tears trembled in those rose-hued eyes, but the amethyst ones were filled with ice. A drunk mare stumbled past, and hearing the last sentence, threw a forehoof over Dash. "I'm into mares!" she shouted. Dash winced as the mare tottered away. Her eyes flicked back to Sky. "You sure?"
Sky stared back solemnly. "As sure as death." Sky turned away from her friend and left the club.
